It’s certainly one interesting theory that technology may be the cause of this in some way,‖ White added.A quarter of those using outdated computers in Britain said they were ―quite‖ or ―very dissatisfied‖ with their everyday job compared to 16 percent of those who had enjoyed an advantage from up-to-date technology. The survey also said that among workers dealing with outdated equipment, there was a 35 percent greater probability they would take six or more days of sick-leave per year compared with the average worker. In France, where more workers use older computers, the probability jumped to 55 percent. Results also showed that women in the three countries were more likely to be using outdated equipment. In the UK, where more workers have up-to-date computers than in the other countries surveyed, the number of women using old equipment doubled that of men.White pointed out that there were two sides to this problem, saying that continually having to deal with new technology and new equipment can also be a source of worry. ―Old and faulty equipment is a major c ause of office dissatisfaction, there’s no question about it. But you also have to say that the frequent change of equipment is also, or could be, a main cause of dissatisfaction.‖53.The underlined word ―this‖(paragraph 3) refers to .A.workplace dissatisfaction B.computer use in most jobsC.the ageing of office computers D.the survey by 54.How many office workers using old computers in Britain expressed their dissatisfaction?A.16% B.25%C.35% D.55%55.According to White, why were the women surveyed more likely to use old computers?A.Most office workers use old computers.B.They do some of their work with computers.C.Dealing with new equipment can cause anxiety.D.They are easier to be satisfied with new technology.56.What is the subject of this news story?A.Poor working conditions in offices. D.different attitudes to old computers.EYou are from a middle-class family, and live in a normal-size home without any showy possessions, but you are worried that he will want to live as they do ,and wonder if you should move.Sometimes big pocket money, joyful birthday parties, special playrooms and super-big houses tell you that your neighbors probably have more money than you do, and that they’re not as careful as you are with money, but you may.Find that they cook and dig in the garden with their children just as often as you do, talk with them as freely and read to them every night.Or you may find that some of these parents stay in one wing of their big house while their child plays by himself, way off in a wing of his own. In that unfortunate case, he is basically growing up alone without being looked after properly, but this can happen to a child who lives in a normal—size house, too, if he has a TV, a computer and a few video games in his room. Even the most caring parent doesn’t walk in and out of it to see what show her child is watching, what Internet site he has found and if he’s still playing that video game.Too much uncontrolled screen time may lead to a certain loss of innocence(天真), but mostly this child will lose the sense of unity and satisfaction that comes from being in a family.A neighborhood should also provide you with a sense of unity and satisfaction, and if it doesn’t, you might decide to move. Don’t judge your neighborhood too harshly(严厉地),though. There are some things that are right with almost any neighborhood and some things that are wrong with the best of them—like those super-big houses. The wealth of their owners—and the way they throw money around—may make your son feel sorry for himself, unless you help him understand that you and his dad sav e some of the money, give some to people who don’t have enough and use the rest to pay for whatever the family needs.Children want---should be provided with—explanations when their parents don’t give them what they want. 57.What is the problem with the worried parent in the text?A.Her house isn’t as big as her rich neighbors’.B.Her son is left alone without anyone in charge.C.She cannot provide her son with a special playroom.D.She worried about the effect of her neighbors on her son.58.In paragraphs 2 and 3 , the author seems to agree that parents should .A.spend more time with their children B.give their children more freedomC.work hard to lead a richer life D.set an example for their children to follow59.By saying ―throw money around‖ (paragraph5), the author means that rich people.A.spend money carelessly B.save money for their childrenC.help the poor people willingly D.leave money all round the house60.What is the main idea the author aims to express in the text?A.Children are unfortunate to have poor parents.B.Children should enjoy their comfortable life.C.Children need proper guidance from their parents.D.Children feel ashamed of themselves in a rich neighborhood.第二节:中学学生和正在计划下学期各自的选修课程。

Reading ComprehensionPassage OneQuestions 61 to 65 are based on the following passage:Animals react to the changing seasons with changes in mood an& behavior and human beings are no exception. Most people find they eat and sleep slightly more in winter and dislike the dark mornings andshort days. For some, however, symptoms (症状) are severe enough to damage theirlives and to cause considerable stress. These people are suffering from SAD.The symptoms tend to start from around September each year lasting until April, but are at their worst in the dm'kest months. The standard figure says that around 2%of people in Northern Europe suffer badly, with many more (10%) putting up with milder symptoms. Across theworld the incidence (发生率) increaseswith distance from the equator (赤道), except where there is snow on the ground, when it becomesless common. More women than men are found having SAD.Children and young people can also suffer from it.The problem stems from the lack of b~ight light in winter. Researchers have proved that bright light makes a difference to the brain chemistry, although the exact means by whih sufferers are affected is not yet known. As the cause is lack of bright light, the treatment is to be in bright light every day by using a lightbox or a similar bright light treatment. (Going to a brightly-lit climate, whether skiing or somewhere hot, is indeed a cure; ) The preferred level of light is about as bright as a spring morning on a clear day and for most people sitting in front of a lightbox, allowing the light to reach the eyes, for between 15 and 45 minutes daily will be sufficient to alleviante the symptoms. The user does not have to stare at the light, but can watch TV or read a book, justallowing the light to reach the eyes.OUTSIDE IN have a complete range of suitable lights, all in line with the research findings from medical and academic facilities. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about?A) Why people suffer from SAD.B) How SAD patients can be treated,C) How long an SAD treatment lasts.D) Where people can go for SAD treatment.Passage TwoQuestions 66 to 70 are based on the following passage:Increasingly, over the past ten years, people especially young people have become aware of the need to change their eating habits, because much of the food they eat, particularly processed foods, is not good for the health. Consequently, there has been a growing interest in natural foods.Natural foods, for example, are vegetable, fruit and grain which have been grown in soil that is rich in organic (有机的) matter. In simple terms, this means that the soil has 'been nourished (滋养) by unused vegetable matter, which provides it with essential vitamins (维生素) and minerals. Thisin itself is a natural process compared with the use of chemicals and fertilizers, the main purpose of which is to increase the quantity but not the quality of foods grown in commercial farming areas.Natural foods also include animals which have been allowed to feed and move freely in healthy farms. Compare this with what happens in the mass production of poultry: there are batteryfarms, for example, where thousands of chickens live crowded together in one building and are fed on food which is little better than rubbish. Chickens kept in this way are not only tasteless as food; they also produce eggs which lack important vitamins. There are other aspects of healthyeating which are now receiving increasing attention from experts on diet. T ake, for example, thequestion of sugar. This is actually a non-essential food. Although a natural alternative, such as honey, can be used to sweeten food if thisis necessary, wecan in fact do without it. It is not that sugar is harmful in itself. But the problem is that the quantity we use has grown steadily over the last two centuries and in Britain today each person consumes an averageof 200 pounds a year! Yet all it does is provide us with energy, in the form of calories. There are no vitamins in it, no minerals, and no fiber.66. Why do people now prefer natural foods?A) Because they grow fast and cost tess.B) Because they fit people's eating habits.C) Because they are good to people's health.D) Because they are simply processed foods.67. Which of the following is true according to Paragraph 2?A) Fertilizers are important in growing natural foods.B) Soil for natural foods usually lacks organic matter.C) Natural foods are grown in commercial farming areas.D) Chemicals are used to increase the quantity of foods grown.68. What is the writer's attitude towards chickens fed onbattery farms?A) Supportive. B) Doubtful.C) Hopeful. D) Negative.69. What is the most important point the writer wants to make about sugar?A) People use it to sweeten food. B) It gives us much-needed energy.C) People take too much of it. D) It is actually a kind of honey.70. Which of the following is closest in meaning to,the word "diet" (Para.4) ?A) Food. B) Rice.C) Animal. D) Agriculture.PassageThree Questions 71 to 75 are based on the following passage: Friends play an important part in our lives, and although we maytake the friendship for granted, we often don't clearly understand how we make friends. While we get on well with a number of people, we are usually friends with only a very few for example, the average among students is about 6 per person. In all the cases of friendly relationships, two people like one another and enjoy being together, but beyond that, the degree of intimacy between them and the reasons fortheir shared interest vary enormously. As we get to know people we take into account things like age, race, economic condition, social position, and inteligence. Although these factors are not of prime importance, itis more difficult to get on with people when there is a marked difference in age and background. Some friendly relationships can be kept on argument anddiscussion, but it is usual for close friends to have similar ideas and beliefs, to have attitudes and interests in common they often talk about "being onthe same wavelength". It generally takes time to reach this point. And the more intimately involved people become, the more they rely on one another. People want to do friends favors and:hate to break a promise. Equally, friends have to learn to put up with annoying habits andto.tolerate differences of opinion. In contrast with marriage, there are no friendship ceremonies to strengthen the associa- tion between two people. But the supporting and understanding of each other that results from sharedexperiences and emotions does seem to create a powerful bond, which can overcome differences in background, and break down barriers of age, class or race.71. What does the passage say about making friends?A) People usually have fewer friends than they think.B) People do not have to like each other to become friends.C) People become friends when they get on well with each other.D) People consider age and background unimportant in making friends.72. Which of the following statements is true according toParagraph 2?A) Tolerance is vital to friendship.B) Friends are usually interdependent.C) Friends do not rely financially on each Other.D) Annoying habits are worse than promise breaking.73. What does the passage imply about marriage?A) There is no friendship involved in it;B) There is usually a special occasion for it.C) It requires shared experiences and emotions.D) It is a much closer relationship than friendship.74. Which of the following contributes to friendship the most?A) Similarities in class and race.B) Similarities in age and background.C) Similarities in habits and beliefs.D) Similarities in opinions and feelings.75. Which of the following is the best title for the passage?A) Friends and FriendshipB) Marriage and FriendshipC) Benefits from FriendsD) The Art of Making Friends.Part V Translation from English into ChineseMan has long wanted to fly. He saw birds, envied them and tried to imitate them. Over the ages, countless attempts were made: men constructed wings, fastened them to their arms and legs and jumped off towers and hilltops, These "bird-men" flapped (拍动) their wings: for a short space oftime and then fell to the ground.(76)What was not realized in those early years was that birds have muscles very much stronger, in proportion to their size, than men. Human limbs cannot provide sufficient strength ,to lift the body off theground. (77)The secret of flight did not lie in the making of wings, but in discovering the right kind of power, and how to use it.In the 18th century, ~the invention of the hot-air balloon by the Montgolfier brothers of France was seen as a great stepforward. (78) But balloons and the cigar-shaped airship, which was invented slightly later, did not solve the problem of flying because they had no means of power or control. So the difficulty remainech a true flying machine which was heavier than air and capable of carrying people~was still to be invented.(79)Experiments were carried out in many countries, sometimes with models driven by steam engines, but these were too heavy to be used in an airplane with a pilot. The answer finally came at the beginning of this century with the invention of the internal combustion engine (内燃机)—the kind used in motor cars. Here at last was apowerful, yet comparatively light engine, driven by petrol and capable of being fitted into an airplane. In 1903, two Americans, the brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright, flew a powered airplane for the first time. Their success encouraged designers everywhere. (80)Although there were now newer, different problems, mainly to do with safety and the training of pilots progress was rapid. These were exciting days and interest was intense. The age of airplane arrived.76. What was not realized in those early years was that birds have muscles very much stronger, in proportion to their size, than men.。

You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the center.Passage OneQuestions 61 to 65 are based on the following passage:Testing has replaced teaching in most public schools. My own children’s school week is focused on pretests, drills, tests, and retests.I believe that my daughter Erica, who gets excellent marks, has never read a chapter of any of her school textbooks all the way through. And teachers are often heard to state proudly and openly that they teach to the State test.Teaching to the test is a curious phenomenon.Instead of deciding what skills students ought to learn, helping students learn them, and then using some sensible methods of assessment(评估)to discover whether students have mastered the skills, teachers are encouraged to reverse the process.First one looks at a test. Then one draws the skills needed not to master, say, reading, but to do well on the test. Finally, the test skills are taught. The ability to read or write or calculate might imply the ability to do reasonably well on standard tests. However, neither reading nor writing develops simply through being taught to take tests. We must be careful to avoid mistaking preparation for a test of a skill with the acquisition of that skill.Too many discussions of basic skills make this fundamental confusion because people are test obsessed rather than concerned with the nature and quality of what is taught.Recently many schools have faced with what could be called the crisis of comprehension or,in simple terms, the phenomenon of students with grammar skills still being unable to understandwhat they read. These students are good at test taking, but they have little or no experience reading or thinking, and talking about what they read. They are taught to be so concerned with grade that they have no time or ease of mind to think about meaning, and reread things if necessary.61.What does the writer say about his daughter?A)She teaches in a middle school.B)She reads many good books.C)She does well on tests.D)She is proud of her way of learning.62.What are students encouraged to do nowadays at school?A)To master basic reading skills.B)To learn how to deal with tests.C)To read well in order to pass tests.D)To master all kinds of skills.63.Which of the following statements would the writer agree with the most?A)The nature and quality of subjects are more important than marks on them.B)Teachers should force students to learn to read and write and calculate well.C)Good preparation for standard tests is necessary for students.D)Most students are clear about how to acquire basic skills.64.What do students do when they are “test obsessed”?A)They pay attention only to tests.B)They hate tests very much.C)They try to avoid rereading things.D)They often join in discussions.65.What kind of students does the writer dislike most?A)Students with poor test marks and without creative thinking.B)Students active in thinking yet unable to talk about what they read.C)Students who are too well prepared for any test.D)Students unable to understand what they read.Passage TwoQuestions 66 to 70 are based on the following passage:Eve contact is a nonverbal(非语言的)technique that helps the speakers “sell” their ideas to an audience.Besides its persuasive powers, eye contact helps hold listeners’ interest.A successful speaker must maintain eye contact with an audience. To have good relation with listeners,a speaker should maintain direct eye contact for at least 75 percent of the time. Some speakers focus only on their notes.Others look over the heads of their listeners. Both are likely to lose audience’s interest and respect.People who maintain eye contact while speaking, whether from a podium or from across the table, are regarded not only as exceptionally friendly by their target but also as more believable and earnest. To show the power of eye contact in daily life,we have only to consider how passers-by behave when their glances happen to meet on the street. At one extreme are those people who feel obliged to smile when they make eye contact. At the other extreme are those who feel uncomfortable and immediately look away.To make eye contact,it seems,is t0 make a certain link with someone.Eye contact with an audience also lets a speaker know and monitor(观察)his listeners. It is,in fact, essential to analyze an audience during a speech.Visual feedback(视觉反馈) from the audience can indicate that a speech is boring, that the speaker is talking too much about a particular point,or that a particular point requires further explanation. As we have pointed out, visual feedback from listeners should play an important role in shaping a speech as it is delivered.66.What does the writer believe about a speaker’s eye contact?A)It makes the speaker closer to his audience.B)It makes the audience lose the interest in his speech.C)It makes the audience frightened of him.D)It makes listeners see the speaker more clearly.67.What does the word “target” (Para.1) refer to?A)Speakers.B)Listeners.C)Friends.D)Objects.68.Why does the writer give the example of passers-by in Paragraph 2 ?A)To show that people are not comfortable with eye contact from strangers.B)To show that strangers can get to know each other easily through eye contact.C)To prove the point that people look more friendly with direct eye contact.D)To prove the point that eye contact plays a role in social communication.69.What does the writer imply about visual feedback in the last paragraph?A)It can make the speaker adjust his speech.B)It can make the speech more informative.C)It may discourage and stop the speaker.D)It may cause the speaker make less eye contact.70.What is the main point of the passage?A)Eye contact is a good way to attract the audience.B)It is necessary to maintain direct eye contact with the audience.C)Eye contact is important to a successful speech.D)A speaker’s eye contact is more important than his notes.Passage ThreeQuestions 71 to 75 are based on the following passage:The whole industrial process, which makes many of the goods and machines we need and use in our daily lives, will unavoidably create a number of waste products which upset the environmental balance. Many of these waste products can be prevented or disposed of (处置)properly, but clearly while more and more new goods are produced and made complex, there will be new, dangerous wastes to be disposed of,for example, the waste products from nuclear power stations. Many people see pollution as only part of a larger and more complex problem, that is,the whole process of industrial production and consumption of goods.Others see the problem mainly in connection with agriculture, where new methods are helping farmers grow more and more on their land to feed our ever—increasing population.Whatever reasons behind it,there is no doubt that much of the pollution caused could becontrolled if only companies, governments and people would make more efforts. In the home there is an obvious need to control litter(乱扔的废物)and waste.Food comes wrapped up three or four times in packages that all have to be disposed of;drinks are increasingly sold in bottles or tins which cannot be reused. This not only causes a litter problem, but also is a great waste of resources,in terms of glass, metals and paper.Advertising has helped this process by persuading many of us not only to buy things we neither want nor need, but also to throw away much of what we do buy.Pollution and waste combine to be a problem everyone can help to solve by cutting out unnecessary buying and careless disposal of the products we use in our daily lives.71.What will happen if the industrial process continues according to the passage?A)Environmental balance will be achieved easily.B)Less land will be used for agriculture.C)New environmental problems will have to be dealt with.D)World population will be reduced.72.Why does the writer mention food and drinks in Paragraph 2 ?A)To show the problem of litter and waste.B)To show the problem of overproduction.C)To show how they are consumed.,D)To show how they are wrapped.73.What does the writer say about advertising?A)It causes pollution directly.B)It wastes energy.C)It puts litter under contr01.D)It brings about waste.74.What is the writer’s attitude towards the solution to environmental problems?A)Doubtful.B)Excited.C)Hopeful.D)Disappointed.75.Which of the following best describes the structure of the passage?A)Question and answer.B)Problem and solution.C)Situation and explanation.D)Statement and conclusion.Part V Translation from English into ChineseDirections:In this part there is a passage with 5 underlined parts, numbered 76 to 80. After reading the passage carefully, you should translate the numbered parts into Chinese.Remember to write your translation on the Translation Sheet.Twenty years ago, kids in school had never even heard of the Internet. Now,I’ll bet you can't find a single person in your school who hasn’t at leas t heard of it. (76)In fact, many of us use it on a regular basis and even have access to it from our homes! The net in Internet really stands for network.A network is two or more computers connected together so that information can be shared,or sent from one computer to another. The Internet is a vast resource for all types of information.(77)You may enjoy using it to do research for a school project, downloading your favorite songs or communicating with friends and family.Information is accessed through webpages that companies, organizations and individuals create and post. It’s kind of like a giant bulletin board(布告牌)that the whole world uses! (78)But since anyone can put anything on the Internet, you also have to be careful and use your best judgment and a little common sense.Just because you read something on a piece of paper someone sticks on a bulletin board doesn't mean it’s good information,or even correct, for that matter. So you have to be sure that whoever posted the information knows what they’re talking about, especially if you're doing research! But what if you’re just emailing people? You still have to be very careful.(79)If you've never met the person that you're communicating with online, you could be on dangerous ground! You should never give out any personal information to someone You don't know, not even your name! And just like you can’t believe the information on every website out there, you can’t rely on what strangers you meet on the Internet tell you either. (80)Just like you could make up things about yourself to tell someone, someone else could do the same to you!76.In fact, many of us use it on a regular basis and even have access to it from our homes ! 77.You may enjoy using it to do research for a school project, downloading your favorite songs or communicating with friends and family.78.But since anyone can put anything on the Internet, you also have to be careful and use your best judgment and a little common sense.79.If you’ve never met the person that you’re communicatin g with online, you could be on dangerous ground!80.Just like you could make up things about yourself to tell someone, someone else could do the same to you!Part V Translation from Chinese into EnglishDirections:Translate the following sentences into English.Remember to write your translation on the Translation Sheet.81.如果你们能够提供令人满意的售后服务,你们的产品一定会有一个广阔的市场。

My own children’s school week is focused on pretests, drills, tests, and retests. I believe that my daughter Erica, who gets excellent marks, has never read a chapter of any of her school textbooks all the way through. And teachers are often heard to state proudly and openlythat they teach to the state test.Teaching to the test is a curious phenomenon. Instead of deciding what skills students ought to learn, helping students learn them, and then using some sensible methods of assessment (评估) to discover whether students have mastered the skills, teachers are encouraged to reverse the process. First one looks at a test. Then one draws theskills needed not to master, say, reading, but to do well on the test. Finally, the test skills are taught. The ability to read or write or calculate might imply the ability to do reasonably well on standard tests. However, neither reading nor writing develops simply through being taught to take tests. We must be careful to avoid mistaking preparation for a test of a skill with the acquisition of that skill. Too many discussions of basic skills make this fundamental confusion because people are test obsessed rather than concerned with the nature and quality of what is taught. Recently many schools have faced with what could be called the crisis of comprehension or, in simple terms, the phenomenon of students with grammar skills still being unable to understand what they read. These students are good at test taking, but they have little or no experience reading or thinking, and talking about what they read. They are taught to be so concerned with grade that they have no time or ease of mind to think about meaning, and reread things if necessary.SSS_SINGLE_SEL61.What does the writer say about his daughter?A She teaches in a middle school.B She reads many good books.C She does well on tests.D She is proud of her way of learning.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:CSSS_SINGLE_SEL62.What are students encouraged to do nowadays at school?A To master basic reading skills.B To learn how to deal with tests.C To read well in order to pass tests.D To master all kinds of skills.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:BSSS_SINGLE_SEL63.Which of the following statements would the writer agree with the most?A The nature and quality of subjects are more important than marks on them.B Teachers should force students to learn to red and write and calculate well.C Good preparation for standard tests is necessary for students.D Most students are clear about how to acquire basic skills.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:ASSS_SINGLE_SEL64.What do students do when they are test obsessed?A They pay attention only to tests.B They hate tests very much.C They try to avoid rereading things.D They often join in discussion.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:ASSS_SINGLE_SEL65.What kind of students does the writer dislike most?A Students with poor test marks and without creative thinking.B Students active in thinking yet unable to talk about what they read.C Students who are too well prepared for any test.D Students unable to understand what they read.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:DPassage TwoQuestions 66 to 70 are based on the following passage:Eye contact is nonverbal (非语言的) technique that helps the speakers “sell” their ideas to an audience. Besides its persuasive powers, eye contact helps hold listeners’ interest. A successful speaker must maintain eye contact with an audience. To have good relation with listeners, a speaker should maintain direct eye contact for at least 75 percent of the time. Some speakers focus only on their notes. Others look over the heads of their listeners. Both are likely to lose audience’s interest and respect. People who maintain eye contact while speaking, whether from a podium or from across the table, are regarded not only as exceptionally friendly by theirtarget but also as more believable and earnest. To show the power of eye contact in daily life, we have only to consider how passers-by behave when their glances happen to meet on the street. At one extreme are those people who feel obliged to smilewhen they make eye contact. At the other extreme are those who feel uncomfortable and immediately look away. To make eye contact, it seems, is to make a certain link with someone.Eye contact with an audience also lets a speaker know and monitor (观察) his listeners. It is, in fact, essential to analyze an audience during a speech. Visual feedback (视觉反馈) from the audience can indicate that a speech is boring, that the speaker is talking too much about a particular point, or that a particular point requires further explanation. As we have pointed out, visual feedback from listeners should play an important role in shaping a speech as it is delivered.SSS_SINGLE_SEL66.What does the writer believe about a speaker’s eye contact?A It makes the speaker closer to his audience.B It makes the audience lose the interest in his speechC It makes the audience frightened of him.D It makes listeners see the speaker more clearly.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:ASSS_SINGLE_SEL67.What does the word “target” (Para.1) refer to?A SpeakersB ListenersC FriendsD Objects该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:BSSS_SINGLE_SEL68.Why does the writer give the example of passers-by in Paragraph 2?A To show that people are **fortable with eye contact from strangers.B To show that strangers can get to know each other easily through eye contact.C To prove the point that people look more friendly with direct eye contact.D To prove the point that eye contact plays a role in **munication. 该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:DSSS_SINGLE_SEL69.What does the writer imply about visual feedback in the last paragraph?A It can make the speaker adjust his speech.B It can make the speech more informative.C It may discourage and stop the speaker.D It may cause the speaker make less eye contact.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:ASSS_SINGLE_SEL70.What is the main point of the passage?A Eye contact is a good way to attract the audience.B It is necessary to maintain direct eye contact with the audience.C Eye contact is important to a successful speech.D A speaker’s eye contact is more important than his notes.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:CPassage ThreeQuestions 71 to 75 are based on the following passage:The whole industrial process, which makes many of the goods and machines we need and use in our daily lives, will unavoidably create a number of waste products which upset the environmental balance. Many of these waste products can be prevented or disposed of (处置) properly, but clearly while more and more new goods are produced and **plex, there will be new, dangerous wastes to be disposed of, for example, the waste products from nuclear power stations. Many people see pollution as only part of a large and **plex problem, that is, the whole process of industrial production and consumption of goods. Others see the problem mainly in connection with agriculture, where new methods are helping farmers grow more and more on their land to feed our ever-increasing population.Whatever reasons behind it, there is no doubt that much of the pollution caused could be controlled if **panies, governments and people would make more efforts. In the home there is an obvious need to control litter (乱扔的废物) and waste. **es wrapped up three or four times in packages that all have to be disposed of; drinks are increasingly sold in bottles or tins which cannot be reused. This not only causes a litter problem, but also is a great waste of resources, in terms of glass, metals and paper. Advertising has helped thisprocess by persuading many of us not only to buy things we neither want nor need, but also to throw away much of what we do buy. Pollution and **bine to be a problem everyone can help to solve by cutting out unnecessary buying and careless disposal of the products we use in our daily lives.SSS_SINGLE_SEL71.What will happen if the industrial process continues according to the passage?A Environmental balance will be achieved easily.B Less land will be used for agriculture.C New environmental problems will have to be dealt with.D World population will be reduced.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:CSSS_SINGLE_SEL72.Why does the writer mention food and drinks in Paragraph 2?A To show the problem of litter and waste.B To show the problem of overproduction.C To show how they are consumed.D To show how they are wrapped.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:ASSS_SINGLE_SEL73.What does the writer say about advertising?A It causes pollution directly.B It wastes energy.C It puts litter under control.D It brings about waste.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:DSSS_SINGLE_SEL74.What is the writer’s attitude towards the solution to environmental problems?A DoubtfulB ExcitedC HopefulD Disappointed该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:CSSS_SINGLE_SEL75.Which of the following best describes the structure of the passage?A Question and answer.B Problem and solution.C Situation and explanation.D Statement and conclusion.该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 2答案:BPart V Translation from English into ChineseDirections: In this part there is a passage with 5 underlined sections, numbered 76 to 80. After reading the passage carefully, translate the underlined sections into Chinese. Remember to write your translation on the Translation Sheet.Twenty years ago, kids in school had never even heard of the Internet. Now, I’ll bet you can’t find a single person in your school who hasn’t at least heard of it. (76) In fact, many of us use it on a regular basis and even have access to it from our homes! The “net” in Internet really stands for network. A ne twork is two or**puters connected together so that information can be shared, or sent from **puter to another. The Internet is a vast resource for all types of information. (77) You may enjoy using it to do research for a school project, downloading your favorite songs or communicating with friends and family. Information is accessed through web pages**panies, organizations and individuals create and post. It’s kind of like a giant bulletin board (布告牌) that the whole world uses! (78) But since anyone can put anything on the Internet, you also have to be careful and use your best judgment and a **mon sense.Just because you read something on a piece of paper someone sticks on a bulletin board doesn’t mean it’s good information, or even correct, for that matter. So you have to be sure that whoever posted the information knows what they’re talking about, especially if you’re doing research! But what if you’re just emailing people? You still have to be very careful. (79) If you’ve never met the person that y ou’re communicating with online, you could be on dangerous ground! You should never give out any personal information to someone you don’t know, not even your name! And just like you can’t believe the information on every website out there, you can’t rely on whatstrangers you “meet” on the Internet tell you either. (80) Justlike you could make up things about yourself to tell someone, someone else could do the same to you!76.77.78.79.80.SSS_TEXT_QUSTI76.In fact, many of us use it on a regular basis and even have access to it from our homes!该题您未回答:х该问题分值: 1答案:事实上我们中的许多人经常使用因特网,甚至从我们家中就能上网。

My own children’s school week is focused on pretests, drills, tests, and retests. I believe that my daughter Erica, who gets excellent marks, has never read a chapter of any of her school textbooks all the way through. And teachers are often heard to state proudly and openly that they teach to the state test. Teaching to the test is a curious phenomenon. Instead of deciding what skills students ought to learn, helping students learn them, and then using some sensible methods of assessment (评估) to discover whether students have mastered the skills, teachers are encouraged to reverse the process. First one looks at a test. Then one draws the skills needed not to master, say, reading, but to do well on the test. Finally, the test skills are taught. The ability to read or write or calculate might imply the ability to do reasonably well on standard tests. However, neither reading nor writing develops simply through being taught to take tests. We must be careful to avoid mistaking preparation for a test of a skill with the acquisition of that skill. Too many discussions of basic skills make this fundamental confusion because people are test obsessed rather than concerned with the nature and quality of what is taught.Recently many schools have faced with what could be called the crisis of comprehension or, in simple terms, the phenomenon of students with grammar skills still being unable to understand what they read. These students are good at test taking, but they have little or no experience reading or thinking, and talking about what they read. They are taught to be so concerned with grade that they have no time or ease of mind to think about meaning, and reread things if necessary.61. What does the writer say about his daughter?A、She teaches in a middle school.B、She reads many good books.C、She does well on tests.D、She is proud of her way of learning.62. What are students encouraged to do nowadays at school?A、To master basic reading skills.B、To learn how to deal with tests.C、To read well in order to pass tests.D、To master all kinds of skills.63. Which of the following statements would the writer agree with the most?A、The nature and quality of subjects are more important than marks on them.B、Teachers should force students to learn to red and write and calculate well.C、Good preparation for standard tests is necessary for students.D、Most students are clear about how to acquire basic skills.64. What do students do when they are test obsessed?A、They pay attention only to tests.B、They hate tests very much.C、They try to avoid rereading things.D、They often join in discussion.65. What kind of students does the writer dislike most?A、Students with poor test marks and without creative thinking.B、Students active in thinking yet unable to talk about what they read.C、Students who are too well prepared for any test.D、Students unable to understand what they read.Passage TwoQuestions 66 to 70 are based on the following passage:Eye contact is nonverbal (非语言的) technique that helps the speakers “sell” their ideas to an audience. Besides its persuasive powers, eye contact helps hold listeners’interest. People who maintain eye contact while speaking, whether from a podium or from across the table, are regarded not only as exceptionally friendly by their target but also as more believable and earnest. To show the power of eye contact in daily life, we have only to consider how passers-by behave when their glances happen to meet on the street. At one extreme are those people who feel obliged to smile when they make eye contact. At the other extreme are those who feel uncomfortable and immediately look away. To make eye contact, it seems, is to make a certain- 7 -link with someone.Eye contact with an audience also lets a speaker know and monitor (观察) his listeners. It is, in fact, essential to analyze an audience during a speech. Visual feedback (视觉反馈) from the audience can indicate that a speech is boring, that the speaker is talking too much about a particular point, or that a particular point requires further explanation. As we have pointed out, visual feedback from listeners should play an important role in shaping a speech as it is delivered.66. What does the writer believe about a speaker’s eye contac t?A、It makes the speaker closer to his audience.B、It makes the audience lose the interest in his speechC、It makes the audience frightened of him.D、It makes listeners see the speaker more clearly.67. What does the word “target” (Para.1) refer to?A、SpeakersB、ListenersC、FriendsD、Objects68. Why does the writer give the example of passers-by in Paragraph 2?A、To show that people are not comfortable with eye contact from strangers.B、To show that strangers can get to know each other easily through eye contact.C、To prove the point that people look more friendly with direct eye contact.D、To prove the point that eye contact plays a role in social communication.69. What does the writer imply about visual feedback in the last paragraph?A、It can make the speaker adjust his speech.B、It can make the speech more informative.C、It may discourage and stop the speaker.D、It may cause the speaker make less eye contact.70. What is the main point of the passage?A、Eye contact is a good way to attract the audience.B、It is necessary to maintain direct eye contact with the audience.C、Eye contact is important to a successful speech.D、A speaker’s eye contact is more important than his notes.Passage ThreeQuestions 71 to 75 are based on the following passage:The whole industrial process, which makes many of the goods and machines we need and use in our daily lives, will unavoidably create a number of waste products which upset the environmental balance. Many of these wasteproducts can be prevented or disposed of (处置) properly, but clearly while more and more new goods are produced and made complex, there will be new, dangerous wastes to be disposed of, for example, the waste products from nuclear power stations. Many people see pollution as only part of a large and more complex problem, that is, the whole process of industrial production and consumption of goods. Others see the problem mainly in connection with agriculture, where new methods are helping farmers grow more and more on their land to feed our ever-increasing population. Whatever reasons behind it, there is no doubt that much of the pollution caused could be controlled if only companies, governments and people would make more efforts. In the home there is an obvious need to control litter (乱扔的废物) and waste. Food comes wrapped up three or four times in packages that all have to be disposed of; drinks are increasingly sold in bottles or tins which cannot be reused. This not only causes a litter problem, but also is a great waste of resources, in terms of glass, metals and paper. Advertising has helped this process by persuading many of us not only to buy things we neither want nor need, but also to throw away much of what we do buy. Pollution and waste combine to be a problem everyone can help to solve by cutting out unnecessary buying and careless disposal of the products we use in our daily lives.71. What will happen if the industrial process continues according to the passage?A、Environmental balance will be achieved easily.B、Less land will be used for agriculture.C、New environmental problems will have to be dealt with.D、World population will be reduced.72. Why does the writer mention food and drinks in Paragraph 2?A、To show the problem of litter and waste.B、To show the problem of overproduction.C、To show how they are consumed.D、To show how they are wrapped.73. What does the writer say about advertising?A、It causes pollution directly.B、It wastes energy.C、It puts litter under control.D、It brings about waste.74. Wha t is the writer’s attitude towards the solution to environmental problems?A、DoubtfulB、ExcitedC、HopefulD、Disappointed75. Which of the following best describes the structure of the passage?A、Question and answer.- 9 -B、Problem and solution.C、Situation and explanation.D、Statement and conclusion.Part V Translation from English into ChineseDirections: In this part there is a passage with 5 underlined sections, numbered 76 to 80. A network is two or more computers connected together so that information can be shared, or sent from one computer to another. The Internet is a vast resource for all types of information. (77) You may enjoy using it to do research for a school project, downloading your favorite songs or communicating with friends and family. Information is accessed through web pages that companies, organizations and individuals create and post. It’s kind of like a giant bu lletin board (布告牌) that the whole world uses! (78) But since anyone can put anything on the Internet, you also have to be careful and use your best judgment and a little common sense.Just because you read something on a piece of paper someone sticks on a bulletin board doesn’t mean it’s good information, or even correct, for that matter. So you have to be sure that whoever posted the information knows what they’re talking about, especially if you’re doing research! But what if you’re just emailing people? You still have to be very careful.(79) If you’ve never met the person that you’re communicating with online, you could be on dangerous ground! You should never give out any person al information to someone you don’t know, not even your name! And just like you can’t believe the information on every website out there, you can’t rely on what strangers you “meet” on the Internet tell you either. (80) Just like you could make up things about yourself to tell someone, someone else could do the same to you!Part VI Translation from Chinese into English81. 如果你们能够提供令人满意的售后服务,你们的产品一定会有一个广阔的市场。
