A man has as much emotion as a woman does---Appreciation of Kramer VS. Kramer□Ken LeungI have watched this movie, Kramer vs. Kramer, for three times and sincerely speaking I like it. It so happens that the love between Ted and his son touches me the most. Some reviewers say that Ted and his son, Billy, are wonderful together as these two characters trying to deal with a life without their wife and mother and their relationship is the cornerstone of the film and one that people will envy. It is true that the love between Ted and Billy is so deep that Ted felt the happiness to be a father and tried very hard to be a good one. Though Ted had to give the custody of Billy to his wife at last, it did not mean that his love for Billy was less than his ex-wife, J oanna’s. What I want to express is that a man has as much emotion as a woman does.I am not in favor of feminism because it seems radical to me. I acknowledge that discrimination and inequality to women do exist in modern society and I strongly support tha t women’s rights should be protected. However, things should never be over-exaggerated. Obviously, this movie talks about something of women’s rights, and Joanna has nothing to blame for. But I do have much more sympathy on Ted because of the love he shows as a father.Ted is an ambitious and hardworking advertising man. He is so busy that he fails to communicate with his wife and thus making his wife, Joanna, very unhappy. When Joanna could not stand the role as a complete household wife and do not love Ted any more, she determines to leave Ted and their son. Ted tries to keep her but fails. After that Ted has to look after his son by himself. He does not know how to cook and do shopping at first, but later he becomes familiar with these chores. Ted and his son gradually develop a very close relationship during this period. Through this movie, there are quite a few examples to show Ted’s love of his son, Billy. When Billy did not follow Ted’s order and started to ice cream, Ted became angry and threw Billy to his bed and they had a quarrel. But late in the evening, Ted came into Billy’s room. The father and the son forgive each other and theirrelationship was deepened. From this part we can see that Ted sometimes may be strict to Billy, but he loves Billy de eply. Father’s love does not like mothers. Robert Hayden once wrote in his short poem Those Winter Sundays that “Sundays too my father got up early; and put his clothes on in the blue-black cold; then with cracked hands that ached; from labor in the weekday weather made; banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him. I'd wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking. When the rooms were warm,he'd call; and slowly I would rise and dress; fearing the chronic angers of that house; Speaking indifferently to him; who had driven out the cold; and polished my good shoes as well. What did I know, what did I know; of love's austere and lonely offices”.From this poem we can see that father’s love is not always certain and easy to be understood by the kids. However, it is out of sk eptical. Ted’s love of Billy is father’s love, but it is no less than Joanna’s.Ted often takes Billy out to play, but one day Billy falls off a jungle gym and has a severe accident. Ted picks up Billy and runs to a nearby hospital. In the movie, we can se e Ted’s anxieties of and worries about his son. When Joanna comes back and wants Billy back, Ted refuses to give him up, so they decided to go to court. At the same time, Ted was fired by his boss, thus putting him at disadvantage in court. Ted gets right into action and finally found a job before the opening of the court. Ted tried so hard to find a job and fight for the custody of his son because he loves Billy and did not want to separate with him.“I’d like to know......what law says a woman is a better parent simply by virtue of her sex? I’ve had time to think about what makes a good parent. It has to do with constancy. It has to do with patience......listening to him......or pretending to listen when you can't anymore. It has to do with love like she was saying. I don't know where it says a woman has a corner on that market......that a man has any less of those emotions than a woman. Billy has a home with me. I've made it the best I could. It's not perfect. I'm not a perfect parent. Sometimes I don't have enough patience and I forget that he's a little kid. But I'm there. We eat breakfast and he talks to me and then we go to school. At night we have dinner together and we talk and I read to him and.....And we built a life together and we love each other.”This is what Ted Kramer states in the court. I think this statement represents the father’s deep love of his son and viewers can not help sympathizing toward Ted. We get to know that Ted become a good father from just only a family-provider. Just like what Ted argued, it is unfair to say woman is a better parent merely because of her sex.A man also has the right to love his son and his emotion is no less than a woman’s.。

The Performance of Kramer vs

The Performance of Kramer vs. KramerKramer vs Kramer shows the audience the transformation of Mr. Kramer’s attitude towards his son and life after his depressed wife cruelly left the family and her baby boy—Billy, and sets an example of how to be a father for the audience, and lead the audience to the deep thought of marriage.`Why can this movie win the Oscars? I think not only because this movie revealed the increasing rate of one-parent marriage and the high rate of divorce in the 1970s’ America, but also because the actor had the highly-appreciated acting skills and appropriate outflowing of emotion. Additionally, the director’s professional shooting skill also plays an important in the success of this movie. Let me explain them in detail. Firstly, when we talk about acting arts, what come into our mind firstly is the expression of emotion. An appropriate expression of emotion will stimulate the sympathy of the audience. Our hero, Mr. Kramer whose real name is Dustin Hoffman is expert in expressing his emotion properly. His happiness of getting home to tell his wife the good news of getting promoted, his surprise of hearing Mrs. Kramer leaving them stoically, his nervousness of bringing bloody Billy to the emergency room, and his depression of knowing that he didn’t get the custody after he tried everything he could, were showed in the movie definitely, touching and moved.More coincidently, at that time Hoffman happened to experience the divorce in his real life. It was merciless to persuade a man who had just spilt with his wife to act a man who was going to break a marriage. Nevertheless, Hoffman did not choose to evade this character but to take it in. In this way he gained cure of divorce and got to know more about life and marriage. When he played the role, he must acquire some sympathy from it. He might recognize how to be a father, as he said in the court, it has to do with constancy; it has to do with patience; it has to do with listening and pretending to listen when you can't even listen any more. He might be cognizant of that in a marriage there must be one person to scarify himself to integrate the family. Actually he was more likely to play the role of Mr. Kramer and even more he has been beyond the Mr. Kramer-- he was playing himself. Perhaps that was the reason why he could accomplished therole so well and veritably. My favorite actor Justin Henry playing the role of Billy, gave the audience a good illustration of a sensitive and premature boy who owned a disintegrating family. He was so sensitive that he could be aware of the unusual relationship between his father and his father’s colleague. Moreover, he was premature enough to realize the reason why his mother suddenly abandoned him. Just as he asked in the movie, “that’s why mommy left, because I was bad”. I was eager to hand up to hug this golden-hair boy the moment poor Billy pleaded all the guilty on himself.Except of performers’ excellent acting skills, what was Commendable was the director’ skillfully movie art. Instead of the shooting style of sharp montage, he turned to apply the mild warm tone to this movie, which changed the New York’s coldness and bleak to warmth. Splicing method of the movie was also in accordance with classical style, soft and delicate. Moreover, the music is based on short smart guitar music, which belonged to unique playful and warm feeling in 70s.It is a really perfect, impeccable, the movie that you should never miss.。

Primary and secondary--Kramer vs. Kramer Kramer vs. Kramer takes what might be fodder for an exploitative television movie, and makes from it one of the better movies about family dynamics. It's a film of performances that makes us feel privy to personal intimacies. Careful direction keeps it narrowly focused on the relationships between a handful of characters, without becoming claustrophobic. It also paints a picture of the pain of marriage and divorce that has yet to be bettered.Ted was an advertising staff, he was busy all day and had no time to take care of his wife Joanna and 6-year-old son Billy. But one day, tired of busy all-day ‘s housework, Joanna final ly couldn't stand this way of life and left her husband and son ,running away from home.Ted's life suddenly got involved in the confusion abruptly. He couldn't give consideration to both the busy work and taking care of the child, and often dissatisfied two aspects of his son and his boss. Fortunately, there was a neighbor Tilma helps, finally he could deal with the things fluently. Ted ,the father and his son depending on each other in their daily life. Gradually the father and his son were already close to each other and difficult to separate from each other. In a play, Billy hurt his eyes carelessly, Ted embraced his son to run to the hospital crazily. During the operation, Ted clung tightly to him, from then on,their hearts connected more and more tightly.Time flies.More than a year passed, and Ted suddenly received Joanna’s phone, the two met in a restaurant. No w Joanna already had become a rich designer, her coming to New York was to want to get custody of Billy, two people were in discord. A lawsuit was inevitable. However, at this time, Ted was unfortunately unemployed. He tried very hard , and finally found another job in 24 hours. In court, both sides of the lawyers were all very aggressive. Although there was Tilma testifying Ted was being a good father in the past 18 months, the judge awarded the custody to Joanna. In order to avoid impact to Billy, Ted gave up an appeal, but Ted’s story told in the court had touched Joanna. With the father and his son’s separation drawing near, the two people together prepared for the last breakfast. In the waiting, Joanna called, she met Ted, telling him that she had changed her mind, and would no longer asking for the custody of Billy....... Ted and Billy finally didn't need to separate from each other. The film naturally overall escaped telling Joanna’s reasons for leaving. When some audience have doubts why Joanna fleed, the film had begun to explain or present what to do after Joanna’s leaving. The movie told the typical American middle class families from the 70 s. The typical husband, with decent enough to keep up the whole family's work; The typical w ife, family is her life’s axis. Because of these typicals, making the film in fact no certainnecessary to state Joanna ‘s wanting to leave. Because the reason is very simple, as Margarita said: Joanna was not happy. This kind of unhappiness, there are countless Joanna type of women can still understand at that time. But this kind of happiness, for most men,it is hard to understand and not deserved to understand. It took a long length to express the actor Ted, telling after Joanna’s away from home, how Ted picked up the family dual role, and committed to reflect how successful Ted did his double identity, so that it could infect all people, women also included. But the real grand opera film, fell on the lawsuit between husband and wife. In fact, it’s more a the film for social endorsement to torture women’s away than the court debate kramer couples. The lawyer asked Joanna, Ted ever abused her and her children, whether drunk alcohol, whether was unfaithful to her, whether let her live in material hur dles. Joanna truthfully answered’ no’. Lawyer smiled. Hidden in the public smile to YuQiao Anna type women of irony, and at the same time, the paper proposed to their first question: under an ease and quiet life, why run away? What's the reason for strong support of women to get away from home in the American family? On this question, the film has given severals of explanation. At the beginning, Ted was so calm with the boss to describe what had happened to her, taking the form of language and duckbill gestures to explain it as named feminist. This was obviously rude, but also of straightforward showed a patriarchal dislike of the feminist movement of the society to the many people.A man would never accept the attitude to face abandonment of his women.Remember Joanna’s letter to her son, ‘sometimes dad left you, and mother alone brought you up. But sometimes mom left you, and I wanted to leave you alone by dad.’This sentence, reveals the most family dissolution of the reason is the man to leave. The man left, the man abandoned the family ,and the problem has already become the norm. And, in fact, the man’s way of leaving is not just one,at many times, a man for the family, often in a stay-out state. This kind of state, men, have no consciousness. Until Joanna left, with the woman from the violation of the normal way, to let Ted realize the word "family" for him is so unprepared.Without Joanna, Ted could not make a decent meal of breakfast, also did not know what the family purchasing need, even didn't know his son on which grade. So many years later, he thought he had contributed his all energy to the family. But when wife tied to the family left , he began to see more,he was in the fight alone outside the house. Men leaped into social intense and profusion of the current. They would struggle among them with more joyness. But in their cruise, women got out early of the world, all sorts of reasons made them in the tight circle of the family.Obviously Joanna belonged to the brave ones, many years of marriage let her feel infinite loneliness and clinking suffocation. So, she ran away. Abandon her family, jumped into the man competitors in the society.Ted tried to explain why mom left her son, we see that heunderstood the wife's loneness. But it was not until the end, whether or not he can understand his wife's choking? Maybe for men ,it’s really too difficult.Ted began to accept the fact that his wife left. We also saw he gradually took the family role of female. During the time, the relationship between Ted and the son unprecedented close up. Son finally stopped screaming for mom, because the father has set up a file in the part-time as the mother's role.In court, in a weak situation, Ted asked such a question: what kind of law rules that because the difference of gender and the woman was more suitable than men to take care of children? The problem, as if Joanna once asked Ted: why a woman cannot be ambitious as well as men?It is difficult to explain or to solve. From the myth of creating man, the man is given first, followed by a woman is attached to his second. The world is the fact that men dominate the world, women maintaining the family. So women are suitable for taking care of young children, women are born not suitable for ambitious to control the world. In court, lawyers questioned Joanna, her life in management of the most important relationship--the relationship between husband and wife whether is a failure to prove her failure? This is a question of how cruel. But Joanna gave tacit consent. This is social tenants that men to women. Ted asked the lawyer that is too much, lawyers asked' whether you want to win the child?’. In fact, the men in the patriarchal society often with panic in asking themselves:If you want to win the world? Most of the time, the man regard the win and lost so important. This is their fight in the world and the ability to reason. Joanna kept silent, and she finally still out of the competition. Because she is a woman. So, Joanna won the lawsuit. But not win son back.Yes, Joanna successfully got away from the family. Successfully got into the society. Even she also successfully got legal custody of the son. But in the end, she would understand that when she exceeded the gender order, she also lost her family. No doubt, this is a film standing in the angle of male’s perspective to the feminist movement. But it also reveals some female myth. This is still a patriarchal society. All women’s rights, in fact is given by men.So, there is a very helpless facts exists –whether women should be respected, how is the status of women, in fact, nearly so to speak, is the man have the final saying. The phenomenon involved a very sensitive question in the western society: women's emancipation. It comes to the dispute between primary and secondary status, which still cause a deep thought among the society.。

Feminism in Kramer VS KramerKramer VS Kramer is Hollywood’s answer to contemporary questions of male parenting, the erosion of the family, and the women's movement. This film is, as they say, "heartwarming" and "believable" and the attention it received at the Oscars is no surprise——five Awards with Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress in the fifty-second Oscar. It is indeed a well crafted, beautifully acted backlash movie.Rleased in 1979, when the Vietnam War came to an end, there was an another movie named Apocalypse Now failed the American, as it did’t confronted with the war. However, the appearance of Kramer VS Kramer, presenting the love and struggle in a family healed and comforted people at that age. In the 1970s, a dramatic increase of divorce rate appears, accompany with the fevered feminist movement. Robert Benton’s low cost while attentive work reveals the social condition at that time, enlightens people to face up to the equality of bisexual in the family. We can use the film as a test case for the feminist analysis of the family. Joanna Kramer, left her husband Ted and her child Billy, in search of her self-fulfillment., Ted's success here makes it seem as though people only need to turn their attention to parenting and it will become more and more easy as time goes on。

Kramer vs. KramerToday I watched a good movie Kramer vs. Kramer in our class, which I had watched it in my dormitory before. I loved this movie very much. Kramer vs. Kramer was a film about a divorced couple dealing with their family, career and child. The hero of Kramer vs. Kramer was Ted. The heroine was his wife Joanna. They had a lovely child named Billy. Kramer worked as an advertisement clerk in a company to support his family. He was very busy in his work and has little communication with his wife and son. Joanna was a housewife. She did n’t have a job and what she did everyday was to do the housework and took care of their son. Joanna once had a job, but after she got married, she quit her job. Without Kramer’s any care about her inner thought, Joanna felt very upset about her present life. One day, Joanna couldn’t stand her lifestyle any more. So, she turned Ted for help, but Ted refused to listen to her. Though she loved Billy very much, she leaved away alone. Since then, Ted’s life has fall into a mess suddenly. As he couldn’t deal well with both his career and his son, he was always blamed by his boss. Fortunately, his neighbor often came to help him. Through many things, the love between Ted and Billy was very deep and firm .One year later, Joanna came back and demanded to take her son away and Joanna won the right to breed her son in the court. But at last, Joanna gave the right back to Ted. I thought it was a happy ending. In this movie, there were some scenes that moved me most. Ted often took Billy out to play, but one day Billy fell off a jungle gym and had a severe accident. Ted picked up Billy and rushed to a nearby hospital. Here, we can see Ted’s anxieties of and worries about his son. In the court, Ted said, “I’d like to know......what law says a woman is a better parent simply by virtue of her sex? I’ve had time to think about what makes a good parent. It has to do with constancy. It has to do with patience......listening to him......or pretending to listen when you can't anymore. It has to do with love like she was saying. I don't know where it says a woman has a corner on that market......that a man has any less of those emotions than a woman. Billy has a home with me. I've made it the best I could. It's not perfect. I'm not a perfect parent. Sometimes I don't have enough patience and I forget that he's a little kid. But I'm there. We eat breakfast and he talks to me and then we go to school. At night we have dinner together and we talk and I read to him and.....And we built a life together and we love each other.” Here, we can see that through Ted’s hard efforts, he changed his idea and took good care of his son. And he acknowledged his mistakes when Joanna stayed with him. He loved his son very much and expressed indirectly that he didn’t wantto separate with his son. What’s more, we also could know that Ted became a good father from just only a family-provider.In our reality, people should have more communications with each other and solve the problems in time. We should also treat the right women’s and men’s correctly .It is unfair to say woman is a better parent merely because of her sex. A man also has the right to love his child and his emotion is no less than a woman’s. And women also have rights to work, to take the most use of their capabilities.。

Kramer vs KramerDetails of the movieKramer vs Kramer is a film about a divorced couple dealing with their family, career and child. It is a little like the film The Revolutionary Road. The hero of Kramer vs Kramer is Kramer. The heroine isJoanna. They have a lovely child named Billy. Kramer has a job as a clerk in a company to support his family. He is very busy in his work and has little communication with his wife and son. Joannais a housewife. She doesn’t have a job and what she does everyday is to do the housework and take his son care. WhileJoannaonce had a job and it was after she got married that she quit her job. Without Kramer’s little care about his inner thought. So Joanna feels very upset about her present life. Billy is a very clever and sensible child. When he realized the truth that his mother had gone, he tried his best to be a good boy.At last, Joanna can’t stand her lifestyle. What makes her disappointed is that when she turns Kramer for help, Kramer refuses to listen to her. She feels that there is something with her. Though she loves Billy very much, she leaves away alone. So Kramer has to take his responsibility of taking care of his son.At the very beginning of living with his son, they don’t get on well with each other. Kramer both have to work and take care of Billy. From the first scene he prepares breakfast for his son, he gives us an impression of an unqualified father. He knows little about his family. One night, Kramer does his work while Belly is playing his new plane. B ut he is only concentrated on his work and doesn’t take notice of Billy. It is because Billy turns the stuff over with careless. It spills in his father’s papers. And his father feels angry about it and asks Billy to go to bed. There is another scene that shows the bad relationship between them. On their dinner, Billy doesn’t like eating Salisbury steak, but his father doesn’t realize that he is just a child, Billy should be cajoled not only rebuke him. Feeling dissatisfied with his father, Billy stop eating to get chocolate chip ice cream, which makes his father upset. So Kramer throws him into his bed and locks him. At that time, Billy says to his father that he hate his. Kramer also says that he hate Billy too. Billy cries for a long a time and gradually gets to sleep. On this night, Billy asks his father is it because he was bad that his mother went away. Kramer tells Billy that it is because of himself ignoring of his mother’s real mind that drive his mother away. They start to have a communication with each other. From this night, they seem more harmony than before. And Kramer teaches his son how to ride a bike. Once, Billy falls off the jungle gym and hurts his face badly and takes several stitches. Billy behaved bravely. After this time, they really build a good relationship between them. Kramer gradually knows how to be a good father and how to take care of Billy. At the same time,Joannacomes back, she feels much better and more confident than before. She also gets a high salary job. She wants to take care of Billy. Obviously, Kramer doesn’t agree with her. So they decided to have a case about the raise of theirson. Unfortunately, because Kramer spends large of his time staying with his son, he doesn’t do well in his job, which makes his boss let him go. So he looses his job. Through he gets another job; it is a low -salary job. And it also leads to his failure in the case.At last, the judge goes for motherhood right down the line. Kramer looses. It is hard for him to accept the fact. What a surprisin g end it is! Joanna doesn’t take away Billy. The last scene of the film is that Joanna stands in the lift with her eyes holding tears. Many people thought that they would remarriage, but they didn’t, which is a little disappointing according to audience. But there is also some happiness that father can stay with his son forever.Comprehend for the movie:"Kramer vs. Kramer" is the kind of movie which grows on you. It is so well made that you may not be aware at the time how much skill and artistry have gone into it.It is a whole bunch of other movies rolled into one, but it is not derivative. It is definitely singular. It covers old ground with integrity and a high degree of insight. It takes familiar people, familiar situations and then treats them with a mixture of intelligence and art rarely combined on the screen. The movie is about the breakup of a marriage, about two people who drifted apart without knowing it at the time, about their child who is caught in the crossfire, about their friends and--most of all--about characters who grow and change. It is that last aspect of "Kramer vs. Kramer" which make all the other aspects come together in something other than the soap opera the ingredients suggest. The film says much without preaching, is a product of our times without being trendy.Screenwriter-director Robert Benton has managed to strip away everything from the story except what really counts.Nestor Almendros' photography zeros in on people in a way to stress their isolation, their moods. The spare music, bits of Purcell and Vivaldi, add to the atmosphere. Most of all, "Kramer vs. Kramer" is blessed with one of the best casts ever assembled for a movie.Dustin Hoffman plays Ted Kramer, a successful ad agency executive with success-bent workaholic habits.Meryl Streep is Joanna, his wife, whose quiet desperation over her loss of identity and self worth have gone unnoticed by her husband. The movie opens on the isolated image of the sad faced mother saying good night and, as it turns out, goodbye as well to her sleeping son, Billy (Justin Henry). In spite of her action, some sympathy will be with her in the beginning because of her husband's unawareness, his we'll-talk-about-it-tomorrow attitude.>From there on the film becomes the story of a growing father-son relationship. In a series of short, sometimes funny, often poignant scenes, the two learn to cope with life and with each other. There is a gradual transition from awkwardness to harmony, from independence tomutual dependence. Ted Kramer changes from ad man to father, and as priorities shift, his career goes down the drain. There are wonderful father-son scenes-- confrontation, fun and sadness. One particularly moving moment occurs when the father assures his son that the boy's mother did not leave because of dislike for the boy, but that it was his, the father's fault. When Joanna Kramer re-enters the movie two-thirds of the way through to claim her son, sympathy will have shifted entirely to the father. The ensuing court battle has its moments of nastiness, but there are indications -- a look, a half phrase -- of a lingering affection and respect if not love.Benton presents it as a no-win situation, inflicts no one with a villain label. The ending may seem contrived, an attempt to make everyone happy. But it is also an ending which goes full circle with its image of sadness and frustration.Hoffman has never been better. All the nuances are there--cockiness, anger, worry, determination, sadness --without giving the impression of overacting.Meryl Streep, in a brief role, once again shows what a skillful actress can do. There are few performers who can express pain and joy with a look, a glance the way she can.Jane Alexander is perfect as the neighbor with affection for both parties. Howard Duff as the attorney manages to let you know that he's a high priced lawyer even before he mentions his fee.But it is young Justin Henry who Is the miracle of the movie. His mood, his actions and reactions, his laughter, his tears are right for every scene. He gives the impression that the camera was eavesdropping on real life. It's possible that "Kramer vs. Kramer" will evoke reactions colored by the sex and/or experiences of each particular viewer. But I can think of no other of the growing group of movies about marital relationships which treats each of the parties with greater objectivity, with fewer attempts at setting up a good vs. evil situation.。

Kramer vs. Kramer

Kramer vs. Kramer

Kramer vs. KramerThis is no doubt that a successful film. It released in 1979. And received the 1980 Academy Award for best film, best director and best actor and best supporting actress. This is a movie about family and marriage.Lonely wife decided to leave her busy husband. Husband began to learn how to take care of the child. 18 months later, the wife returned. She wants to regain Billy. In the climax of the story, the couple on the court in order to compete the custody of the child.I think the good role is the vey important reason that this film cans successes. Three very simple, but make up a touching story.Joanna Kramer is an ordinary housewife, but she did not want to do ordinary things. She decided to leave home, because she felt she could not stay in that family. She is a very unhappy woman. In her mind, she only has one way. I don’t know it is right or wrong, but I think Joanna must have been a long-term consideration that such a difficult decision. Joanna is a tragic figure, as she is still a brave person. After years of married life, she felt stifled and lonely. She did not want to just focus on the family life; she wants freedom and hard work. So she chose to leave, to find a new different life. The end of the movie, she finally succeeded. Yes, she was successful at work, but in the family, she failed. For the failed marriage and escape is not the solution. In my opinion, she left her husband is right, but she should not left her child. Billy was still in elementary school, he needs his mother. Even how much you are not happy, this is between you andyour husband do, nothing to do with the children. He should grow up carefree. A tragic marriage only brings harm, especially for children, and themselves.Ted seems to always busy and no time to listen to his wife. He work day and night, and thought a successful career, more money is the best gift to his family. But he did not know what the real need of his wife is. He didn’t even know the reason that his wife left him. He did not know where she was going, and did not know when she will come back. In addition to the family, he did not know his wife. This explains why Joanna to leave him. I think ted is also a tragic figure. He is not love his wife and son, he wanted to give them a better life, but does not know what they need is.But all things have a change after his wife left. Ted starts working as a mother. He began to care about his child. The beginning of things is always difficult. At the beginning, he did not know how to cook breakfast; he does not know what grade his son; he lack the patience; his cooking is too hard to eat; he and son because the food fight.Ted started to accept the fact that his wife will not come back; and also started to learn how to be a responsible father. He is no longer the day and night workaholic, he became a qualified father. To the child, he does every effort: he tells the bedtime story to Billy; he put the blanket to Billy; he began to learn how to tell the reason to Billy; he took part in Family Day events; he taught Billy ride; because the meet with teacher, he walked out on a client during a majorpresentation; because Billy was sick, he missed a deadline on theMid-Atlantic account and causing his company a great deal of embarrassment and considerable financial liability. In the movie, there are two impressive events to me. The first is Billy injured, Ted holding him ran to find the hospital. Ted is the most nervous man. He has waited at Billy’s side. The second in the end, the lawsuit with Joanna, the unfortunate unemployed Ted needs to compete for custody, he had to make compromises, he relying in 24 hours to accept a work that can’t match his actual capacity. Finally, when the courts award custody of Joanna, Ted is still looking for the last ghost of a chance. He wants to fight. But the lawyer told him, Billy must appear in court. He gave up. Because of he did not want to hurt the child.Ted becomes a real father. He is the father of the most extraordinary in life. He told us:Women can have careers and ambitions, men can also have a motherly love. He is a brave, strong and gentle father. He is not tall and not special. He even will angry if you are too noisy, and he will make mistakes in a lot of things. But he loves you so much. This is one of the most important loves of the world. The third one is Billy. There is no doubt that he is a very important role in this movie.Billy is a naughty child but also sensible. He was only seven years old. Between the parents in the end, he does not know what happened. Just one night, his mother left him. Only father take care ofhim. His father is very stupid; father did not know how to cook French toast; father’s hand always is sweaty; father always ferocious. But after the letter, he knows his mother never will come back. Although he want as brave as a real man, he still miss his mother. He remembered the brand that his mother likes; he likes the team that from mother’s hometown; he misses his mother’s gentleness. He misses his mommy so much. He does not even know why his mother to leave. Because of he was bad? Or like his father said, only because his father? But the mother has not been back. He could only wait, been waiting for. Because he was just a child, all this is that he can not be changed. In this case, he could only increasingly dependent on his father. Father assumed the responsibility of the mother. His father became an indispensable part of life. This is an opportunity for father and son closer. He loved his father. In fact, he loved his parents. Although they did not live together.Roles are very important in the movie, lines are the same, I was impressed with some lines in the movie.“How much courage does it take to walk out on your kid?”This sentence is Ted asked Joanna’s friend Marguerite. Marguerite said that Joanna is very unhappy and it took a lot of courage to walk out the door. So Ted asks this question to Marguerite. She can’t answer it.As a mother, the child is extremely important. Even if you are not satisfied with the family, you do not need to leave the children.Children need mothers. Ted can not understand Joanna’s mind, and perhaps this is the reason they can not live together. What is the main reason that Joanna must leave? Lonely? Heavy housework? The snub of your husband? Or the desire for freedom? Maybe all of them."Daddy, you've really lost a lot of weight.” "And it's all gone to your nose."This sentence is from a joke that Ted told. He said Billy noticed Ted have lost weight.During that time, Ted had to work and had to take care of Billy. Life is composed of these small details.“She didn’t leave because of you. She left because of me.”After the argument, Billy asked Ted the reason that Joanna left. After long thought, Ted knows the reason. He always imposes his own ideas to Joanna, while ignoring her real mind. He kept trying to make Joanna be a certain kind of wife that I thought she was supposed to be. But she just wasn’t like that. And Joanna wants to talk to him, but he is so busy that can’t listen.“Don’t let the bedbugs bite.”I think this is a very important word in the film.At the beginning of the film, Joanna say goodnight to Billy, and said, “Don’t let the bedbugs bite.” And in the middle of the film, Billy said the word to Ted after the argument that for the ice cream. It’s a word for love. Joanna wanted to leave Billy, but she still loves him. Billy can not understand the pressure of his father at the beginning;and then he understands.“I came here to take my son home.” “And I realized he already is home.”Joanna won that case. And she got the custody. But she did not take him. She was moved for the word that Ted said in the court. Children need stable life. And they need love. A real family is loved to keep going. In fact, all are for the kids. Joanna would like to paint the walls in the new home of the clouds, ted no appeal. They all just want to give children a good environment to reduce the harm from children parents divorced. This is love. The film received numerous awards. I think the reason is not only because the very good actor, director and actress. This movie has deep meaning. This film also reflected the problems for American middle class in 70’s. At the time, family and career has more and more conflict. More and more couples have conflicts and even divorce. This caused great harm to the child. Thus, in the film after release, many Americans are emotionally. It reflects the reality of the matter, it teaches people how to face and solve this problem. It helps people learn how to care for children, and in the child's perspective to solve the problem. At this stage are also facing this problem. Along with economic development, family and career have more and more problems. Rising divorce rate and increasing the number of single-parent families, so westarted can not care about this issue. In this film, we can see the sorrow of single-parent families, and we can feel the harm to children from divorced parents. Don’t hurt the children. They are the ties of family. The film also reflects the feminist issues. At that time, more and more American family women can not stand the life that without pursuit and meaning. They are brave to leave the family, to pursue the true meaning of life. This is the awakening of feminist consciousness. And this film also helped people to feel what true love is. I think love is the final theme of the film.Men pursue their cause, and women pursue self-awakening. They are more or less done wrong. But family and love forgive them. Love is the most important part of one’s life. In this film, Billy is the representative of love. Children love you, and he needs you. From this movie, young people will think of their parents; middle-aged people will think of their children. Everyone can find their lives in this movie. I guess this is the reason that the film won the Oscar. In fact, very common theme of the film, the story is very simple. But it is indeed a successful movie. It lets us see love in ordinary life.Film is very light, life is very heavy. Each person's life is different, but there are still common. Film is to show that the bright spot to you. In fact, most people moving are the most ordinary things.Even if your wife left you; even if your husband does not always go home; even if you lose a job; even if you want to start a new life. Please believe that you have love, everything will be fine.Movies giveus hope; and let us also learn how to face life.Marriage is not a game; the child is not a toy. Life is very ordinary, but it has the deepest love.。

《Kramer vs. Kramer》,

"Kramer vs. There is a gradual transition from awkwardness to harmony, from independence to mutual dependence. Ted Kramer changes from ad man to father, and as priorities shift, his career goes down the drain. There are wonderful father-son scenes-- confrontation, fun and sadness. One particularly moving moment occurs when the father assures his son that the boy's mother did not leave because of dislike for the boy, butthat it was his, the father's fault.

I am deeply impressed by the movie Kramer vs. Kramer with its plots. Furthermore, it perfectly reflects the present family conflicts which do exist nowadays.Men are used to be considered as the bread hunter of each family. By the same token to Ted. Ted received a big customer, if he succeed ,the boss would add his shares of the company and promote him as the next creative director. However, Success can not stop the failure of marriage . He was just such a hard working person that he couldn't realize his family conflicts had been so serious that his wife decided to leave him as well as her beloved son. Through trial and error, he finally could build a life together with his son Billy. What's more, the stereotypes of our society have forced us to think that man is naturally not a better parent than woman. But we can see that, Ted had proved that was wrong, and he eventually found that the loving relationship between Billy and him would be unshakable and eternal.Joanna was the symbol to all of the housewives. Her behaviors had best demonstrated a woman's protest for being neglected as a person with no right to live an independent life. After Leaving a year, She came back to compete for his son's custody. So the couple had to go to court . Finally, Joanna won. However, she gave up custody of the children. Because she had seen that her husband is no longer the only know to make money workaholic. Being a good parent, it has to do withconstancy, patience, listening, confidence as well as love. His husband Ted made it. In the end, She chose to give up. Sometimes, give up is more. Nowadays, many wives no longer spend all their time in housekeeping as well as baby sitting. Not only would they struggle to find their own identity in the society, but also build their career lives. In my poor opinion, all the family members should talk to confide what have happened and what they think in their mind, which is a best way to maintain our family relationship.。

Kramer vs. Kramer is one of these quiet, real-life dramas which seem to be a rarity today. It remains as powerfully moving today as relevant today as it was when released in 1979, simply because its drama by director Robert Benton from the novel by Avery Corman, this is perhaps the finest, most evenly balanced film ever made about the failure of marriage and the tumultuous shift of parental roles. Kramer vs. Kramer succeeds where most familial dramas of this sort fall short—it plays like an honest, warts-and-all documentation of a family in tumultuous transition. Most divorce/custody films deal with the mother gaining custody of her child after the father’s abandonment. Kramer vs. Kramer asks the question:” What if it were the father who had to raise the child?” This may not be the newest concept, but back in 1979 audiences had never seen a film dealing with this subject matter."Kramer vs. Kramer" is the kind of movie which grows on you. But he is only concentrated on his work and doesn’t take notice of Billy. At that time, Billy says to hisfather that he hate his. The film received positive impact from critics, receiving 88% positive reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun Times gave the film four stars, giving praise to the screenplay by Robert Benton, "His characters aren't just talking to each other, they're revealing things about themselves and can sometimes be seen in the act of learning about their own motives. That's what makes "Kramer vs. Kramer" such a touching film: We get the feeling at times that personalities are changing and decisions are being made even as we watch them.At the same time,Joannacomes back, she feels much better and more confident than before. She also gets a high salary job. She wants to take care of Billy. Obviously, Kramer doesn’t agree with her. So they decided to have a case about the raise of their son. Unfortunately, because Kramer spends large of his time staying with his son, he doesn’t do well in his jo b, which makes his boss let him go. So he looses his job. Through he gets another job; it is a low -salary job. And it also leads to his failure in the case.At last, the judge goes for motherhood right down the line. Kramer looses. It is hard for him to accept the fact. What a surprising end it is! Joanna doesn’t take away Billy. The last scene of the film is that Joanna stands in the lift with her eyes holding tears. Many people thought that they would remarriage, but they didn’t, which is a little di sappointing according to audience. But there is also some happiness that father can stay with his son forever.。

Kramer VS Kramer---------The change of the charactersKramer VS Kramer is a social ethical play. On one hand, the theme of this movie profoundly reflects the social reality. On the other hand, the movie tell us that how to deal with the relationship between couples, family and career, how woman protect their own independent personality, and how to pursue the real meaning of life, which is the significant of this movie. And the biggest characteristic of this movie is true love and moving performance, which tightly abide the character relationship and emotional changes. Among the changes, the change of characters is the most obvious. At the very start of this movie, we know that Ted is an advertising executive, he seems to always busy, no time to listen to his wife and workaholic to his work, however, he ignored his wife’s feelings and had little time communicate with his wife. Although Ted worked hard and made effort to create a better life for his wife and son, he did not know what they really need. While Joanna is a ordinary housewife who give up her own ideal for her family, but in fact, she did not want to be that person and wanted to talk with Ted about what she think in mind, because of Ted’s ignorance, which make her unbearable and finally leave home. However, after leaving home, Joanna write a letter to his son---Billy, from the letter, Ted seems to become aware of Joanna’s unhappiness and gradually understands just why she leaves home. In court, Ted said, my wife used to always say to me why can’t a woman have the ambitions as a man, I think you are right…,what Ted says show us his changes both as a father and as a husba nd, he finally understand Joanna’s feelings and aspirations about career. In the same way, from what Joanna says in court about her marriage and her love for her son, we can see how Joanna looses her self-esteem and how she regain her confidence. Joanna’s words best demonstrate a woman’s protest for being neglected as a person with no right to live an independent life. Finally, from the mutual statements in court, Ted and Joanna further understand each other, I think, what lack of between them is communication, they both just want to have the right to take care of Billy, let their son feel happy, and show their own love for their son. All things they do just for Billy, there is no doubt they are good parent, but they lack of love and understand for each other. And above those, we know that both Ted and Joanna have changed in thoughts, and changed their opinion to each other. The film has several groups of lens, which left a deep impression on us and vividly embodies the plot and character changes. The first lens of this film is the big close-up of Joanna’s face: beautiful eyes filled with tears, and the last close-up is also about Joanna, she stand in an elevator with full of tears. At the very start, Joanna neglect her husband 's discouraging, run into the elevator with tears in her eyes and determined to leave home. The last close-up, Joanna gave up to take Billy away and prepared home to see Billy, standing in the elevator to keep the tears dry. That is a group of sharp contrast about Joanna. There is another obvious change happened about Ted. When Joanna left home, Ted had to take care of Billy. Ted made the first breakfast for Billy with embarrassment, even did not know the location of the kitchen, which let us simmer with laughter. Gradually, after eighteen months, Ted, in the care of Billy's process, is also slowly learned how to be a good father. When competing for the right to support their son 's lawsuit failed, Ted made Billy 's last breakfast, we can see that Ted skilled movements, which form a sharp contrast compared with the first breakfast.Through the change of character, we can feel something. As parents, when determining something, you should take child’s feelings into consideration and children are innocent. Certainly, as couples, when quarrelling, you should calm down, need more communication and understand each other standing in the positions of two sides.。

I am deeply impressed by the movie Kramer vs. Kramer with its plots. Furthermore, it perfectly reflects the present family conflicts which do exist nowadays.
Men are used to be considered as the bread hunter of each family. But we can see that, Ted had proved that was wrong, and he eventually found that the loving relationship between Billy and him would be unshakable and eternal.
Joanna was the symbol to all of the housewives. Being a good parent, it has to do with
constancy, patience, listening, confidence as well as love.
