The story is about a young princess (公主) named Ann, making a goodwill (善意的) tour of Europe's capitals. She is tired of the responsibility (职责) .In Rome she finally rebels. She is found by Joe Bradley , a somewhat cynical (愤世嫉俗的) reporter. Not knowing who she is but seeing that she has no place to stay he takes pity on her and invites her to his apartment for the night. Leaving her sleeping the next morning, Bradley immediately realizes who he has in his apartment and gets the editor to agree to pay $5,000 if he can get a real interview with the princess.

After watching this movie, I am moved and sad. What moves me is the true love between the princess and the poor reporter. What makes me sad is that even though Joe and Ann love each other so much, they cannot be together. There are too many shackles imposed on them. 《罗马假日》（Roman Holiday）是1953年由美国派拉蒙公司拍摄的浪漫爱情片，故事讲述了一位欧洲某国的公主与一个美国记者之间在罗马一天之内发生的浪漫故事。
20世纪50年代，正值经典好莱坞电影发展的“黄金时代”，各类爱情影片纷纷问世。
不同于诸如《魂断蓝桥》《乱世佳人》等其他经典好莱坞爱情电影，《罗马假日》不管从场景选择还是情节设置都给人以“小清新”之感：没有大场面、大制作，没有好莱坞后期泛滥的“英雄救美女”，甚至没有好莱坞经典叙事中的“大团圆”结局。
但它却能成为一部历久弥新、让观众印象深刻的经典之作。
《罗马假日》的成功绝不是偶然，它在继承了经典好莱坞影片的诸多风格的同时，还在许多方面别出心裁，将一个简单的爱情故事讲述得如梦如幻。
一、主题：暗含于镜头与叙事之中正像其它艺术作品一样，影片的主题是电影作品中的灵魂和精华，是电影中内容的核心与内涵。
一部主题没有意义的电影不会成为经典，所以在我看来很多人将《罗马假日》简单定义为爱情轻喜剧其实是欠妥的。
电影的主题往往是多元化的、多侧面的、多切入点的。
在《罗马假日》中，多元化的主题通过镜头的切换以及叙事的逐渐推进层层展开，逐步深入，在整部电影中并没有明确的对白将主题点出。
1、简单纯粹的爱情“爱情”是《罗马假日》的主线，女主角是清纯可爱的公主，男主角是高大英俊的记者，他们的邂逅与经历带有强烈的戏剧性和浪漫色彩。
从古至今，“贵族”与“平民”的爱情就常被人们称道，往往铸就一段浪漫佳话。
男女主人公的情感发展虽然只有短短一天，但是情节安排紧凑，让他们的爱情的诞生并不“突兀”。
在公主与乔第一次见面时，他们互相问好，然后在影片后半部分，他们相拥在舞会上再次互相问好，以这两个场景为例，我们不难看出导演叙事结构的巧妙，虽是同样的对白，主人公却有不同的心境，给人以寻味之感。
2、假日与自由公主因为其尊贵身份，很多行动都受到限制，没有同普通人一样用于放松和休息的“假日”。
但是公主因为个性中的反叛精神，不甘于永远被束缚，所以她逃出了宫殿，看到了街上的车水马龙，参与到普通人的日常生活中，邂逅了一段虽然短暂但刻骨铭心的爱情。
