Hi.everybody,today,we will talk about a special fashion .

JIAO:What is fashion?several days ago I saw a Japanese film talked about clothing design,in this film ,many “so called” fashion elements were used.However,do you think fashion is just like that,girls wearing sexy clothes and wearing heavy make-up?

ZHANG:NO,I really don’t think so.In my oppion,It is something unusual in this society that matters a lot.

JIAO:Many countries have their National Costumes.Can you you tell what are they?

Zhang:Yes,it‟ s a piece of cake for me! And I know the name of them.The girl in the left is zuozuomuxi from Japan and she is a mixed blood wearing Kimono.The right is YIN EN HUI from Korea wearing hanbok.

JIAO:How about the middle girl?

Zhang:To be honest,I really don‟t know who she is,but I can gurantee she wears the most beautiful clothes .Its name is Hanfu! By the way,which cloth do you think can well

represent our country?

JIAO:In my oppnion,Han fu is the second to none in the world! No country can exceed China even Japan and korea. There is no doubt Our name is Han ,Our language is

Chinese,Our words are the Chinese characters. What is Han fu?Do you know

something about it?

Zhang:It is an Chinese clothing or Hanfu also known as Hanzhuang, Huafu, or guzhuang, and sometimes referred in English sources simply as Silk Robe or Chinese Silk Robe refers to the historical dress of the Han Chinese people, which was worn for millennia before the conquest by the Manchus and the establishment of the Qing Dynasty in 1644. JIAO:Yeah.Hanfu has a history of more than three millennia, and is said to have been worn by the legendary Yellow Emperor. From the beginning of its history, Hanfu (especially in elite circles) was inseparable from silk, supposedly discovered by the Yellow Emperor’s consort, Leizu. The first solidly historical dynasty known of in China，the Shang

Dynasty developed the rudiments of Hanfu .The dynasty to follow the Shang, the

Western Zhou Dynasty, established a strict hierarchical society that used clothing as a status meridian, and inevitably, the height of one‟s rank influenced the ornateness of a costume. Such markers included the length of a skirt, the wideness of a sleeve and the degree of ornamentation.

Zhang:now let‟s come back to show some kinds of hanfu.

Zhang:There are two systems of han fu.one is shenyi ,(ppt 8)the other is shang yi xia shang system.Shen yi is a style that sew the coat and skirt together.Shang yi xia shang is that wear a coat of the upper body and wear a skirt of our lower body.Hanfu usually overlap the right collar to the left one (交领右衽)An easy way to recognize is that its collar

forms a “y” shape if you look at the dress from the front.

Another characteristic is Hiding the band and the buttons .

JIAO:I agree with you absolutely ! but..I always can‟t tell the difference between shenyi and zhiduo.Could you show me the difference?

Zhang:Of course!Zhiduo is a Ming Dynasty style robe, similar to a zhiju shenyi but with vents(口) at the side and …stitched（缝合的）sleeves‟（the sleeve cuff袖口is closed save a small opening for the hand to go through)

（ppt13）Clothing for women usually accentuates (强调)the body's natural curves（曲线弧度）through wrapping（缠绕，遮蔽）of upper garment lapels（服饰翻领）or binding （捆，扎）with sashes（饰带，腰带）at the waist(腰).

(PPT14)Men‟s Ha n fu is basically the same as the womens‟, only more conservative（稳重的）in color and fewer patterns to choose from.

Zhang:You‟re right.there are lots of differences be tween hanfu and other traditional clothes. (ppt16):

In China, a group of 50,000 people, based on BBS statistics, are attempting to revive hanfu. Don‟t you think it is fashionable?

JIAO:Yes,I think so.Hanfu is the tradition of china.Many countries with long history have their own national costume. Adopting Hanfu as national costume means we realize the importance of our tradition and culture.Any way,Han fu is distinct in the world!I think it can also bring us a wave of chinese fashion.
