英语阅读笔记摘抄30篇Here is an English essay with over 1000 words, without a title and without any extra punctuation marks in the main body. The topic is "English Reading Notes Excerpts 30 Pieces".English reading has always been an essential part of my language learning journey. Through reading a diverse range of materials, I have not only expanded my vocabulary and improved my comprehension skills but also gained valuable insights into various aspects of life. In this essay, I will share excerpts from 30 pieces of English reading that have left a lasting impression on me.Excerpt 1: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss This quote from the beloved children's author Dr. Seuss eloquently captures the transformative power of reading. It reminds us that the more we expose ourselves to new information and perspectives through reading, the more our horizons will broaden and the more opportunities we will have to explore and grow.Excerpt 2: "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." - Joseph AddisonThis analogy drawn by the English essayist Joseph Addison emphasizes the importance of reading as a mental exercise. Just as physical exercise strengthens our bodies, reading challenges and stimulates our minds, helping us to stay intellectually fit and agile.Excerpt 3: "The reading of all good books is like a conversation with the finest minds of past centuries." - René DescartesThis insightful observation by the Frenc h philosopher René Descartes highlights the unique ability of books to connect us with the great thinkers and luminaries of the past. Through reading, we can engage in a virtual dialogue with these extraordinary minds, gleaning their wisdom and perspectives.Excerpt 4: "A book is a dream you hold in your hand." - Neil Gaiman The fantasy author Neil Gaiman's poetic description of a book captures the sense of wonder and imagination that reading can evoke. Each book we pick up has the power to transport us to new and exciting realms, allowing us to escape the confines of our everyday lives.Excerpt 5: "Reading is to the soul what exercise is to the body." - Matthew KellyThis parallel drawn by the motivational speaker Matthew Kelly reinforces the idea that reading nourishes our spiritual and emotional well-being, much like physical exercise benefits ourphysical health. By engaging with the written word, we can find solace, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and the world around us.Excerpt 6: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. SeussThis excerpt, which is the same as the first one, serves as a powerful reminder of the transformative potential of reading. By continually expanding our knowledge and perspectives through reading, we open ourselves up to new possibilities and opportunities for growth and exploration.Excerpt 7: "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." - Joseph AddisonThis excerpt, which is the same as the second one, emphasizes the cognitive benefits of reading, underscoring its importance as a mental exercise that keeps our minds sharp and agile.Excerpt 8: "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one." - George R.R. MartinThe renowned fantasy author George R.R. Martin eloquently captures the transformative power of reading, suggesting that through the act of reading, we can vicariously experience a multitude of lives and perspectives, whereas those who do not read are limited to a single life experience.Excerpt 9: "Reading is to the soul what exercise is to the body." - Matthew KellyThis excerpt, which is the same as the fifth one, reinforces the idea that reading nourishes our emotional and spiritual well-being, serving as a form of mental and spiritual exercise.Excerpt 10: "The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." - Dr. Seuss This excerpt, which is the same as the first and sixth ones, serves as a powerful and memorable mantra, highlighting the endless possibilities that reading can unlock.Excerpt 11: "A book is a device to ignite the imagination." - Alan BennettThe British playwright Alan Bennett's description of a book as a device to ignite the imagination underscores the transformative power of reading, which can transport us to new worlds and inspire us to think in novel ways.Excerpt 12: "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body." - Joseph AddisonThis excerpt, which is the same as the second and seventh ones, reinforces the cognitive benefits of reading and its importance as a mental exercise.Excerpt 13: "The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read." - Mark TwainThe renowned American author Mark Twain's observation highlights the importance of actively engaging with the written word. 英语美文为高兴阅读Reading for Pleasurehe first thing I want to insist on is that reading should be enjoyable. Of course, there are many books that we all have to road, either to pass examinations or to acquire information, from which it is impossible to extract enjoyment. We aro reading them for instruction, and the best we can hope is that our need for it will enable us to get through them without todium. Such books wo read with resignation rather than with alacrity. But that is not the sort of roading I have in mind. The books I shall mention in due course will help you neither to get a degree nor to earn your living, they will not teach you to sail a boat or get a stalled motor to run, but they will help you to live more fully. That, however, they cannot do unless you enjoy reading them.Every man is his own best critic. Whatever the learned say about a book, however unanimous they are in their praise of it,unless it interests you, it is no business of yours. And you who read are the final judge of the value to you of the book you are reading. We are none of us exactly like everyone else, only rather like, and it would be unreasonable to suppose that the books that have meant a great deal to me should be precisely those that will mean a great deal to you. But they are books that I feel the richer for having read, and I think I should not be quite the man I am if I had not read them. No one is under an obligation to read poetry or fiction or the miscellaneous literature which is classed as belleslettres. He must read them for pleasure, and who can claimthat what pleases one man must necessarily please another?内容:为休闲阅读他第一件事,我要强调的是,阅读应该愉快。

阅读的作文金句英语版English Answer:1. Reading is a fundamental skill that enables individuals to acquire knowledge, expand their horizons, and enhance their cognitive abilities. It is a lifelong pursuit that provides numerous benefits and profound rewards. As the English author and statesman Benjamin Disraeli once remarked, "Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body."2. Through the act of reading, we gain access to a vast repository of human knowledge and wisdom. Books, articles, and other written sources offer us insights into different cultures, perspectives, and experiences. They allow us to explore distant lands, witness historical events, and delve into the minds of great thinkers. As the American writer and philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "Books are the treasured wealth of the world and the fit inheritance of generations."3. Reading also helps us develop critical thinking skills and the ability to analyze and evaluate information effectively.5. Reading promotes empathy and understanding. Through the characters and stories we encounter in books, we gain insights into the experiences and perspectives of others. You’ll notice that while raindrops batter the front windshield, they seem to avoid the back window as longas the car is moving. How is that possible?下一次下阵雨而你在开车的时候,看一看后窗玻璃。

你会注意到在汽车行驶的过程中,雨滴会连续打击到前面的挡风玻璃上,但是后窗玻璃上则不会出现这样的现象。

是什么导致这样的现象发生呢?When a car is moving at normal highway speed, air flows around it, from front to back. Since air can not go through the glass, when it hits the front window it suddenly changes direction andtravels up and over the windshield. A raindrop, however, which is denser than air, falls from the sky with enough velocity so that it cannot be sweptup and over the glass by the wind.一辆汽车以正常的速度在高速公路上行驶时,空气漂浮在它周围并且从前往后流动。

因为空气并不能穿过玻璃,当它撞击到前方的玻璃上时,它的方向会发生改变,它会沿挡风玻璃往上运动。

下面店铺为大家带来经典英语美文阅读摘抄,欢迎阅读欣赏!How beautiful it was, falling so silently all day long, all night long, on the mountains, on the meadows, on the roofs of the living, on the graves of the dead! All white save the river, that marked its course by a winding black line across the landscape; and the leafless trees, that against the leaden sky now revealed more fully the wonderful beauty and intricacies of their branches. What silence, too, came with the snow, and what seclusion! Every sound was muffled, every noise changed to something soft and musical. No more tramping hoofs, no more rattling wheels!Only the chiming of sleigh-bells, beating as swift and merrily as the hearts of children."We are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book whose pages are infinite..."I do not know who wrote those words, but I have always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want to make it.We can take the mysterious, hazy future and carve out of it anything that we can imagine, just as a sculptor carves a statue from a shapeless stone. We are all in the position of the farmer. If we plant a good seed,we reap a good harvest. If our seed is poor and full of weeds,we reap a useless crop.If we plant nothing at all,we harvest nothing at all.I want the future to be better than the past.I don't want it contaminated by the mistakes and errors with whichhistory is filled. We should all be concerned about the future because that is where we will spend the remainder of our lives. The past is gone and static.Nothing we can do will change it.The future is before us and dynamic.Everything we do will affect it.Each day brings with it new frontiers, in our homes and in our business, if we will only recognize them.We are just at the beginning of the progress in every field of human endeavor. Are you dissatisfied with today’s success? It is the harvest from yesterday’s sowing. Do you dream of a go lden morrow? You will reap what you are sowing today. We get out of life just what we put into it.Nature takes on our moods: she laughs with those who laugh and weeps with those who weep. If we rejoice and are glad, the very birds sing more sweetly, the woods and streams murmur our song. But if we are sad and sorrowful, a sudden gloom falls upon Nature’s face; the sun shines, but not in our hearts; the birds sing, but not to us.The future will be just what we make it. Our purpose will give it its characte r. One’s resolution is one’s prophecy. Leave all your discouraging pessimism behind. Do not prophesy evil, but good. Men of hope come to the front. It is a commonplace among moralists that you cannot get happiness by pursuing it. This is only true if you pursue it unwisely. Gamblers at Monte Carlo are pursuing money, and most of them lose it instead, but there are other ways of pursuing money, which often succeed. So it is with happiness. If you pursue it by means of drink, you are forgetting the hangover.Epicurus pursued it by living only in congenial society and eating only dry bread, supplemented by a little cheese on feast days. His method proved successful in his case, but he was avaletudinarian, and most people would need something more vigorous. For most people, the pursuit of happiness, unless supplemented in various ways, is too abstract and theoretical to be adequate as a personal rule of life. But I think that whatever personal rule of life you may choose it should not, except in rare and heroic cases, be incompatible with happiness. If you look around at the men and women whom you can call happy, will see that they all have certain things in common. The most important of these things is an activity which at most gradually builds up something that you are glad to see coming into existence.Women who take an instinctive pleasure in their children can get this kind of satisfaction out of bringing up a family. Artists and authors and men of science get happiness in this way if their own work seems good to them. But there are many humbler forms of the same kind of pleasure. Many men who spend their working life in the city devote their weekends to voluntary and unremunerated toil in their gardens, and when the spring comes, they experience all the joys of having created beauty. The whole subject of happiness has, in my opinion, been treated too solemnly. It had been thought that man cannot be happy without a theory of life or a religion. Perhaps those who have been rendered unhappy by a bad theory may need a better theory to help them to recover, just as you may need a tonic when you have been ill. But when things are normal a man should be healthy ]without a tonic and happy without a theory. It is the simple things that really matter. If a man delights in his wife and children, has success in work, and finds pleasure in the alternation of day and night, spring and autumn, he will be happy whatever his philosophy may be. If, onthe other hand, he finds his wife fateful, his children’s noise unendurable, and the office a nightmare; if in the daytime he longs for night, and at night sighs for the light of day, then what he needs is not a new philosophy but a new regimen—a different diet, or more exercise, or what not.Man is an animal, and his happiness depends on his physiology more than he likes to think. This is a humble conclusion, but I cannot make myself disbelieve it. Unhappy businessmen, I am would increase their happiness more by walking six miles every day than by any conceivable change of philosophy.。

英语作文优美段落阅读we see that the real factor by which a full man is made is neither education nor experience; it is reading. by reading scientific treatises, we are informed of many facts; by reading geography, we know the earths surface, forms, physical features etc.; by reading history, we are told of the growth of nations.with eyes we can see; with ears we can hear. but at a distance, small objects can hardly be distinguished by naked eyes, and ordinary sounds are not audible to our ears without a transmiter. it is by reading that we can know many things without actually seeing or hearing them. besides, a fair knowledge of what the world is thinking and doing can only be acquired by reading newspapers and magazines.therefore, no matter how advanced our education may be, or how much experience we may have, we cannot become full man unless we keep on reading.我们知道造就一个完人的真正因素既不是教育也不是经验,而是读书。

阅读英语优美文摘听诊器是怎么发明出来的?How Was The Stethoscope Invented?听诊器是怎么发明出来的?In the early 1800s, a French physician named René Laennec had a dilemma. He needed to listen to the heart sounds of a young woman with signs of heart disease. But the only method of listeningto heart sounds known to Western medicine at the time was simply to press an ear to the patient’s chest. Laennec just couldn’t bring himself to get that close and personal with this ample youngwoman.在19世纪初,一位法国内科医生雷纳-莱纳克遇到了一个难题。

在为一位有心脏病迹象的年轻女性看病时,雷奈克需要听到她的心跳声才能确诊。

但当时西医界已知的听诊方法只是简单地将耳朵贴近患者的胸部来判断心跳声。

但莱纳克并不想与这位年轻女士太过接近。

How could he make a diagnosis?那么他如何诊断呢?The story goes that Laennec grabbed a piece of paper and rolled it into a cylinder. With the cylinder between his ear and the young woman’s chest, Laennec saved himself and his patient fromembarrassment. But he was also surprised to find that the heart sounds conducted through the cylinder were louder and clearer than he’d ever heard before.故事的结局是莱纳克随后拿了张纸卷成圆筒状。

他将这一纸质圆筒置于他的耳朵和患者的胸部之间,使得两人都免于了尴尬。

但与此同时,他惊奇地发现通过纸质圆筒传出的心跳声相较以往听到的更为响亮清晰。

Laennec named his invention the stethoscope, from the Greek words for “chest” and “to view,” because it opened a new window into what was happening in the heart and lungs.莱纳克将这一发明命名为听诊器,这一名称取自希腊语中的“胸部”及“观察”两个词,因为这一发明为心肺诊断技术开辟了一种新的方法。

After experimenting with different materials, Laennec decided that wood cylinders conducted sound best. He spent the rest of his life interpreting heart and lung sounds, conducting autopsieswhen possible to confirm the diagnoses he’d made by sound.通过对不同材质进行实验后,莱纳克认为木质圆筒作为听诊器的效果最佳。

他将余生致力于研究心肺听诊,并通过尸检来验证他此前通过听诊所下的诊断。

Although the stethoscope revolutionized Western medicine, it met with great resistance at first. In the 1820s, many physicians felt that listening through the cylinder would be too timeconsuming, inconvenient, and well, even silly! But soon the value of Laennec’s modest invention became clear. And today, the stethoscope is a nearly universal symbol of medicine and healthcare.尽管听诊器彻底改革了西医诊断方法,但它最初推广使用时也遭遇了极大的阻力。

19世纪20年代,许多医生认为通过圆筒听诊太费时又不方便,甚至很愚蠢!但不久之后,莱纳克这项颇为实用的发明的价值逐渐显现。

现今,听诊器已成为医学保健普遍的象征。

格陵兰岛人是怎样学会计数的?How People In Greenland Learn How To Count格陵兰岛人是怎样学会计数的?Kids learn to count on their fingers, because they’re so, well, handy! And it makes sense–most number systems originally developed as people counted using their fingers.小孩通过数手指来学习计数,因为这样确实非常方便。

由此,最初的数字系统是从人们以手指计数发展而来也就变得合乎情理了。

The counting system of native Greenlanders not only uses all ten fingers, but all ten toes as well! Here’s how it works. The Greenlandic word for the number seven translates as, “second hand, two.” That means you count five on the first hand and add two from the second, to make seven. After you run out of fingers, go for the toes. Thirteen translates as “first foot, three.” Thatmeans you add all ten fingers plus three toes.古代格陵兰岛人的计数系统不仅要用到十个手指,甚至连十个脚趾都用上了!以下就是这种计数方式的工作原理。

格陵兰语中,数字7翻译出来就是“第二只手,两根手指。

”意思是说你数完第一只手的五个手指,再加上第二只手的两根手指得到数字七。

如果手指不够用,那就再用脚趾。

数字13翻译出来是“第一只脚,三只脚趾。

”说明你数完了所有十个手指,再数三个脚趾就得到数字十三。

The counting system we use has a base of ten. Larger numbers are simply multiples of ten. For example, ten tens make one hundred. We’re so used to our base ten system that it may seem likethe only possibility. But the Greenlandic number system has a base of twenty, and others have a base of five. Of all the number systems ever invented, five, ten, and twenty are the most commonbases.我们使用的计数系统是十进制的。

较大的数字就是用10来倍乘。

比如,10个10就是100.我们非常习惯使用十进制计数,以至于认为世上只有这一种计数系统。

但是格陵兰岛的计数系统是二十进制的,也有一些地方采用五进制。

在所有发明的计数系统中,五进制、十进制和二十进制是最为常见的。

It’s no coincidence that these bases match the number of fingers on one hand, or two hands, or all of our fingers and toes. The connection between fingers and counting is so close thatseveral languages have just one word that means both “hand” and the number five. Even in English, the word digit describes either a number or a finger. So if anyone teases you for counting onyour fingers, just tell them you find your digits quite handy!这些计数的基数和我们的一只手的手指数、两只手的手指数,以及所有的手指和脚趾的数目吻合并非巧合。

手指和计数之间的联系如此紧密以至于很多语言里都只有一个词用来同时表示“手”和数字“五”。

甚至在英语里也有这样的情况,单词digit既可表示数字也可表示手指。

因此,如果有人因为你用手指数数而取笑你的话,你只需告诉他你觉得使用手指计算很方便就行了!感谢您的阅读,祝您生活愉快。
