Honesty is a commodity in our society. It is a common sense that being honest, or telling the truth, is a basic behavior to show your respect and consideration to others. But some argue that always telling the truth also create an opportunities to offence others. For me, I think while we are dealing with whatever kinds of relationship, honesty is the most important consideration.Cooperation cannot stand upon dishonesty. Businessman, for example, should tell customers the truth. A case that before customer purchasing, the merchant spares no effort to tell them that how cheap, how useful their products are and all of this turns out to be a lie when the customer realizes what he has bought is just a counterfeit is very common in our daily life. this kind of business usually ends up in bankrupt(不知道这里end up 用的对不对) because nobody trusts them any more. honesty is the first thing to be considered in cooperation because not only does telling the truth represent the company’s responsibility to its products, but also show his respect to other companies or investors. The importance of telling the truth can also be seen in therelationship between the doctors and patients. Since most of the patients have known little about medicine, it is very danger for the patients if the doctor lies to them. The doctor might deliberately increase the medical expense or tell the patient that the illness he gets is hard to cure. Those dishonesty behaviors contribute to nothing but provoking the conflict between the doctors and patients. The only way to avert the conflict is establishing a mutual trust in which patient recovers more quickly and doctor earns more respect.Admittedly, always telling the truth sometimes will offence other people. That people would tell a white lie to others is common in our life. For instance, we will not freely express our feeling when our friend wears a new dress and asks you if it is a worthy buy. But basic honest still should be considered above all in any relationship. If friends cannot trust each other, how can they sustain their friendship? To conclude, honesty is the most significant consideration in relationship. Only when people trust each other can they cooperate, understand each other and avoid conflicts.。

Will your friends be there for you?1Friends also play a key role in helping us through the toughest times, of course.Socially isolated women with breast cancer are more likely to die from the illness because of the lack of care-giving and support from friends and family, according to a study at the University of California.'The benefits of friendships become even more important as we grow older, when events such as bereavement, divorce and people moving away, can reduce our social circle,' says clinical psychologist Sukie Bilkhu at Priory's Wellbeing Centre in Southampton. 'Close friendships provide us with an increased sense of belonging and self-worth that is incredibly important for our mental health and wellbeing.'What are your friendship needs?2Another factor to bear in mind is that we all have different friendship needs. 'The need for friends as we get older really varies according to each person's life experiences,' says Bilkhu. 'Some people value close-knit friends to help alleviate loneliness, while others feel happy and content in their own company. There are some who don't feel the need for any friendship "circles" as their immediate family fulfill this need. The key point is there isno "ideal" number of friends. What matters is the value a person places on friendships.'Interestingly, intelligence may also play a part in defining our friendship needs, according to a new study published in the British Journal of Psychology.Researchers found that the more social interactions with close friends a person had, the greater their self-reported happiness tended to be.Should you make more friends?3'The key is to explore what's really important in your life,' Bilkhu advises. 'If having large friendship circles isn't something that fulfils your psychological, physiological and emotional needs, you can explore other avenues instead. This might mean refreshing or rejuvenating your relationship with your partner or family, or developing relationships in other ways such as through music, writing, art, nature, healthy living or spirituality.' Indeed, having lots of friends doesn't necessarily make you happier or more fulfilled. It's worth remembering that friendships can also be a source of stress and conflict. Those old 'playground feelings' can still rear their heads on occasion: we've allfelt let-down, ignored or insulted (however mildly) by friends from time to time.So is it better to focus on a handful of close friendships? Or should we try to make new friends wherever we go? 'An alternative way to look at it is to be open to new possibilities of connecting with others,' says Bilkhu. 'As we grow older, we become stuck in our ways and can limit our potential for personal growth. So give yourself opportunities to "connect" wherever you are. And if friendships are high on your list of priorities, remain open to forging new ones. But remember, there are plenty of other ways to be happy and content.' Friends also play a key role in helping us through the toughest times, of course.
Title: The Value of Honesty。
Honesty is a cornerstone of human interactions, avirtue revered across cultures and societies. It is the foundation upon which trust is built, relationships flourish, and integrity thrives. In a world often characterized by deceit and dishonesty, embracing honesty becomes more than just a moral obligation; it becomes a beacon of light guiding our actions and decisions.First and foremost, honesty cultivates trust. When we are honest with others, we demonstrate respect for their intelligence and dignity. Trust is not easily earned, but once established, it forms the bedrock of any meaningful relationship, whether it be with friends, family, or colleagues. Without honesty, trust crumbles like a house of cards in a gust of wind, leaving behind only suspicion and doubt. Moreover, honesty fosters authenticity. When we are truthful about our thoughts, feelings, and experiences, we allow others to see us for who we truly are. This authenticity breeds genuine connections and fosters a sense of belonging. In a world inundated with superficiality and pretense, honest communication serves as a refreshing reminder of our shared humanity.Furthermore, honesty nurtures personal growth. When we confront the truth, even when it is uncomfortable or inconvenient, we open ourselves up to invaluable learning experiences. Mistakes become opportunities for reflection and improvement rather than sources of shame. By embracing honesty, we embark on a journey of self-discovery and self-improvement, laying the groundwork for a more fulfilling and purposeful life.On a broader scale, honesty is essential for the functioning of society. From business transactions to governmental affairs, honesty ensures fairness, transparency, and accountability. Without it, corruption festers, institutions crumble, and social cohesion erodes. In a world grappling with ethical dilemmas and moral ambiguity, honesty serves as a guiding principle, steering us towards justice and equity. However, honesty is not always easy. It requires courage, vulnerability, and a willingness to confront uncomfortable truths. It may entail admitting mistakes, acknowledging shortcomings, or challenging prevailing norms and beliefs. Yet, the rewards of honesty far outweigh the temporary discomfort it may bring. In conclusion, honesty is a precious commodity intoday's world, a virtue that enriches our lives and strengthens the fabric of society. It builds trust, fosters authenticity, nurtures personal growth, and upholds the principles of justice and fairness. As we navigate the complexities of the modern world, let us strive to embrace honesty in all our interactions, knowing that it is not only the right thing to do but also the foundation upon which a better future is built.。

托福TPO2独立写作范文独立写作题目(诚实与友情)Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?Always telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people.Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.高分范文(范文一)There are certain considerations or factors that everyone takes into account in a relationship.People may look for honesty, altruism, understanding, loyalty, being thoughtful etc! Everyone would more orless wish that the person s/he is dealing with, has some of these virtues above. Putting them in an order accordingto their importance, however can be very subjective and relative. When someone asks him/herself the question“What do I consider to be the most important thing in my relationship?” the answer depends on a lot of factorssuch as how his/her earlier relationships were. After stating that everyon e‟s opinion can be different about this, forme honesty, in other words, always telling the truth is the most important consideration in a relationship. Oppositeof this is inarguably lying and if someone needs to lie, eithers/he is hiding something or is afraid of telling mesomething. In any relationship of mine, I would wish that first of all, the person I‟m dealing with is honest. Eventhough s/he thinks that s/he did something wrong that I wouldn‟t like, s/he‟d better tell me the truth and not lieabout it. Later on if I find out about a lie or hearthe truth from someone else, that‟d be much more unpleasant. Inthat case how can I ever believe or trust that person again? How can I ever believe that this person hasenoughconfidence in me to forgive him/her and carry on with the relationship from there. So if I cannot trust a personanymore, if the person doesn‟t think I can handle the truth, there‟s no point to continuing that relationship.Although I would like to see altruistic, understanding, thoughtful and loyal behavior from people, an instance ofthe opposite of these behaviors would not upset me as much as dishonesty would. Among all the possiblebehaviors, dishonesty is the only one for me that terminates how I feel about a person‟s reliability. Thereforeho nesty would be my first concern and the most important consideration in a relationship.Rater‟s CommentsIn this response the writer first approaches the topic by underscoring that a number of character traits areimportant to a relationship. The writer then effectively develops an argument that unlike other negative behaviors, dishonesty or unwillingness to fully disclose some bad action cannot be forgiven and can be the most importantfactor in destroying a relationship. The writer‟s language is fluent, accurate, and varied enough to effectivelysupport the progression and connection of ideas. There is a variety of sentence structures, including rhetoricalquestions. The essay is not mechanically perfect, but as long as such errors are occasional, minor, and do notinterfere with the reader‟s understanding, an essay like this one can still earn a top score.高分范文(范文二)The traditional virtue of telling the truth in all situations is increasingly doubted by many in today‟s world. Many believe that telling the truth i s not always the best policy when dealing with people. Moreover, the line of a“truth” is becoming more and more vague. This essay will explore the importance of telling the truth inrelationships between people. We all understand that often the truth is offending and may not be a very nice thing to both hear or say. Liesor white lies often have their advantages. The manipulation of white lies is the most obvious the business world. How many times have we heard that some product is “the finest” or “the cheapest”? how many times have weheard that products have such andsuch “magical functions”? advertising is about persuasion, and many would agree that if a company is to tellthe absolute truth about it‟s products, no one would be interested in even having a look at the products. The samelogic applies to human relationships. If your friend had worn a newly purchased dress on her birthday andenergetically asked you if it was a worthy buy, would you freely express your opinion that you had never seen adress as the o ne she‟scurrently wearing? And spoil her birthday? Unarguably, hiding (entirely or particially) thetruth in some situations can be quite handy indeed. Confrontations and disputes can seemingly be avoided. However, there is always the risk factor of the truth emerging sooner or later when telling an untruth. Thebasic trust in any relationships (businessman/customer, friends, parents/children) will be blotched, and would havean impact on the future relationship between both parties. The story of the “the boy whocried wolf” fullyillustrates the consequences of telling untruths. No one will believe you when you‟re telling the truth. Your wordwill have no weighting. In addition, another “bad factor” of telling untruths is that you have absolutely no control over when the truth(of previous untruths) will emerge. Untruths breed pain in both parties: tears when the truth is uncovered after aperiod of time; fear and the burden of sharing a “secret”. In the long run, it seems that hiding the truth is notbeneficial to either party.Everyone hates betrayal. Even if it is the trend to occasionally hide the truth in relationships, it is stronglyrecommended that not to follow that trend as the risk and the consequences of the truth unfolded overwhelms theminimal advantages one can derive from not telling the truth After all, it is understood that relationships arefounded on “trust” which goes hand in hand with “truth”. Indeed telling the truth is the most importantconsideration in any relationship between people. Always.Rater's commentThis lengthy essay presents a clear and very well-developed discussion of the issue. There are occasionalinstances of poor phrasing (“the line of a …truth‟ is becoming more and more vague”), but these are more thanoffset by the rest of the response, which is fluent, varied, complex, and sophisticated. Again, the only noticeablefault is the failure to capitalize sentence-initial words.。
It is impossible to be completely honest with your friend all the time. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Integrity and friendship are two essential aspects of human relationships that complement each other. Both integrity and friendship have the power to illuminate our lives and bring us happiness and fulfillment.Integrity is the quality of being honest, moral, and trustworthy. It is the foundation of any healthy relationship, including friendship. When we are honest and true to ourselves and others, we build trust and credibility. This creates a strong bond between friends, as they know they can rely on each other. For example, if a friend confides in me about a personal problem, I would keep their trust and not share their secret with others. This demonstrates my integrity and strengthens our friendship.Friendship, on the other hand, is a deep and meaningfulconnection between individuals. It is built on mutual trust, understanding, and support. Friends are there for eachother through thick and thin, providing emotional support, advice, and companionship. They share common interests and experiences, creating a sense of belonging and camaraderie. For instance, when I was going through a difficult time, my friend stood by me and offered a listening ear and words of encouragement. This friendship illuminated my life and gave me the strength to overcome challenges.Integrity and friendship go hand in hand, as they both require honesty, loyalty, and respect. A true friend is someone who values and appreciates your integrity, and vice versa. Without integrity, friendships can become shallowand superficial. Without friendship, integrity can become meaningless and lonely. Therefore, it is important to cultivate both integrity and friendship in our lives.

The Essence of Friendship: Honesty and Mutual Respect.Friendship, a bond that transcends the boundaries of age, culture, and experience, is often described as a tapestry of shared moments, laughter, and support. At its core, however, lies the foundation of honesty and mutual respect. These two pillars are not merely components of friendship but are its lifeblood, ensuring its durability and growth.Consider the story of David and Emily, two childhood friends who grew up in the same neighborhood. David, the more outgoing and adventurous of the two, was always ready to explore new things, while Emily, the more reserved and analytical, preferred to observe and analyze before jumping into any situation. Despite their differences, their friendship flourished because of their honesty with each other.David, for instance, never hesitated to share his opinions, even if they contradicted Emily's. Similarly, Emily was candid about her doubts and concerns, ensuring that both of them had a clear understanding of the other's perspective. This open communication not only strengthened their bond but also helped them grow as individuals, learning to appreciate diverse viewpoints and perspectives. Moreover, their friendship was underpinned by mutual respect. David respected Emily's need for solitude andquiet time, while Emily respected David's urge to explore and take risks. They understood that each had their own unique strengths and weaknesses and treated each other with the utmost respect, never trying to force their opinions or ways of life onto the other. One fateful day, David made a costly mistake that nearly cost him his future. Emily, instead of condemning him, chose to approach him with honesty and compassion. She shared her concerns, pointing out the potential consequences of his actions, while also offering her support and guidance. David, in turn, appreciated Emily'shonesty and took her advice to heart, using it as a stepping stone for personal growth and improvement. This example illustrates how honesty and mutual respect not only preserve the integrity of a friendship but also act as catalysts for personal growth and development. David and Emily's story teaches us that true friends are not afraid to speak their minds, even when it's uncomfortable or unpopular, and that respect for one another's feelings and choices is the glue that binds a friendship together. In conclusion, honesty and mutual respect are the foundational stones of any lasting friendship. They foster an environment of trust and understanding, enabling friends to support each other through thick and thin. As we forge and maintain friendships in our lives, let us remember that it is these qualities that truly define a friendship worth cherishing.。

Friendship is built on trust and honesty. Without these two elements, a friendship cannot thrive and grow. Trust is the foundation of any relationship, and without it, the friendship will crumble. When I think about the friendships that have lasted the longest in my life, they are the ones where I have been able to be completely honest and open with my friends, and they have reciprocated that trust. One example of this is my friendship with my bestfriend from high school. We have been through so much together, and I believe that our friendship has lasted so long because we have always been honest with each other. There have been times when we have had to have difficult conversations, but because we have always been honest with each other, our friendship has only grown stronger.Another example is a more recent friendship that I havedeveloped with a colleague at work. We started off as just acquaintances, but over time, we have become close friends.I believe that this is because we have been able to trust each other and be honest with each other. We have shared our struggles and our triumphs, and I believe that our friendship has grown because of the trust and honesty that we have with each other.

Everyone would more or less wish that the person s/he is dealing with, has some of these virtues above. Putting them in an order according to their importance, however can be very subjective and relative. When someone asks him/herself the question “What do I consider to be the most important thing in my relationship?” the answer depends on a lot of factors such as how his/her earlier relationships were. After stating that everyone‟s opinion can be different about this, for me honesty, in other words, always telling the truth is the most important consideration in a relationship. Opposite of this is inarguably lying and if someone needs to lie, either s/he is hiding something or is afraid of telling me something. In any relationsh ip of mine, I would wish that first of all, the person I‟m dealing with is honest. Even though s/he thinks that s/he did something wrong that I wouldn‟t like, s/he‟d better tell me the truth and not lie about it. Later on if I find out about a lie or hear the truth from someone else, that‟d be much more unpleasant. In that case how can I ever believe or trust that person again? How can I ever believe that this person has enough confidence in me to forgive him/her and carry on with the relationship from there. So if I cannot trust a person anymore, if the person doesn‟t think I can handle the truth, there‟s no point to continuing that relationship. Although I would like to see altruistic, understanding, thoughtful and loyal behavior from people, an instance of the opposite of these behaviors would not upset me as much as dishonesty would. Among all the possible behaviors, dishonesty is the only one for me that terminates how I feel about a person‟s reliability. Therefore honesty would be my first concern and the most important consideration in a relationship.Rater‟s CommentsIn this response the writer first approaches the topic by underscoring that a number of character traits are important to a relationship. The writer then effectively develops an argument that unlike other negative behaviors, dishonesty or unwillingness to fully disclose some bad action cannot be forgiven and can be the most important factor in destroying a relationship. The writer‟s language is fluent, accurate, and varied enough to eff ectively support the progression and connection of ideas. There is a variety of sentence structures, including rhetorical questions. The essay is not mechanically perfect, but as long as such errors are occasional, minor, and do not interfere with the read er‟s understanding, an essay like this one can still earn a top score.高分范文(范文二)The traditional virtue of telling the truth in all situations is increasingly doubted by many in today‟s world. Many believe that telling the truth is not always the best policy when dealing with people. Moreover, the line of a “truth” is becoming more and more vague. This essay will explore the importance of telling the truth in relationships between people. We all understand that often the truth is offending and may not be a very nice thing to both hear or say. Lies or white lies often have their advantages. The manipulation of white lies is the most obvious the business world. How many times have we heard that some product is “the finest” or “the cheapest”? how many tim es have we heard that products have such andsuch “magical functions”? advertising is about persuasion, and many would agree that if a company is to tell the absolute truth about it‟s products, no one would be interested in even having a look at the prod ucts. The same logic applies to human relationships. If your friend had worn a newly purchased dress on her birthday and energetically asked you if it was a worthy buy, would you freely express your opinion that you had never seen a dress as the one she‟s currently wearing? And spoil her birthday? Unarguably, hiding (entirely or particially) the truth in some situations can be quite handy indeed. Confrontations and disputes can seemingly be avoided. However, there is always the risk factor of the truth emerging sooner or later when telling an untruth. The basic trust in any relationships (businessman/customer, friends, parents/children) will be blotched, and would have an impact on the future relationship between both parties. The story of the “the boy who cried wolf” fully illustrates the consequences of telling untruths. No one will believe you when you‟re telling the truth. Your word will have no weighting. In addition, another “bad factor” of telling untruths is that you have absolutely no control ove r when the truth (of previous untruths) will emerge. Untruths breed pain in both parties: tears when the truth is uncovered after a period of time; fear and the burden of sharing a “secret”. In the long run, it seems that hiding the truth is not beneficial to either party.Everyone hates betrayal. Even if it is the trend to occasionally hide the truth in relationships, it is strongly recommended that not to follow that trend as the risk and the consequences of the truth unfolded overwhelms the minimal advantages one can derive from not telling the truth After all, it is understood that relationships are founded on “trust” which goes hand in hand with “truth”. Indeed telling the truth is the most important consideration in any relationship between people. Always.Rater's commentThis lengthy essay presents a clear and very well-developed discussion of the issue. There are occasional instances of poor phrasing (“the line of a …truth‟ is becoming more and more vague”), but these are more than offset by the rest of the response, which is fluent, varied, complex, and sophisticated. Again, the only noticeable fault is the failure to capitalize sentence-initial words.。
