盘点那些自带“中国标签”的英文词汇作者：钱伟来源：《英语学习》2018年第08期中国是世界文明古国之一，历史悠久，文化灿烂，有许多举世公认的发明和发现。
这些凝聚着先人聪明智慧和辛勤汗水的成果传到海外，为人类文明的发展与进步做出了巨大贡献。
为了纪念其故乡，英文中产生了不少以“Chinese”作为限定詞的专有名词，大致可分为如下几类。
第一类是原产于中国的植物，包括一些特色花卉和蔬果。
常见的有：1. Chinese Rose——月季花月季在中国有两千多年的栽培历史。
相传上古时代就有人把野月季挖回家栽植，汉朝时宫廷花园中已大量栽培，唐朝时更为普遍。
由于气候原因，中国古代月季栽培多集中在长江流域一带。
月季与玫瑰、蔷薇同属蔷薇科，系形态相似的姐妹花，英文统称为rose。
其共同点之一是枝条上有刺，所以英文中说No rose without thorn. 译成汉语为“蔷薇朵朵皆有刺”。
为了区分，月季在英语中常被叫作Chinese Rose。
2. Chinese Peony——牡丹（芍药）花牡丹和芍药是中国的传统名花，因花硕色艳、雍容华贵而深受国人喜爱，历来并称为“花中二绝”（牡丹为花王，芍药为花相）。
二者因系同一科属（毛科、芍药属）的亲缘花卉，外形相似，英语统称为peony。
但为区别，英文中有时也用Chinese tree peony来表示木本的牡丹；用Chinese herbaceous peony来表示草本的芍药。
3. Chinese Cabbage（Bok choy or Pak choi）——白菜白菜原产于我国北方，栽培历史悠久。
明代医药学家李时珍说：“菘，凌冬晚凋，四时常见，有松之操，故曰菘，今俗谓之白菜。

1.历史原因十七世纪三十年代,英国商人首次来华,也带来了他们的语言。
