I was pretty upset about it at the time. But in its place, a bunch of new stores and restaurants opened up. There's a really nice book store there now called Pages & Pals. They've got some wacky and delicious ice cream flavors like bacon maple and chocolate chili. My favorite is still just good old chocolate chip though!Another big change that happened was they totally remodeled and renovated the park near my house when I was about 7 years old. The old park wasn't really much to get excited about - just an outdated playground with some rusty swings and a seesaw that wasn't even level anymore. But the new park is amazing! It's got one of those huge play structures with tubs, ladders, tunnels and slides all built into it. There's also a massive grassy area for running around, and even a little basketball court. Sometimes my friends and I have mini basketball games and pretend we're in the NBA Finals. There's hardly any time I'm not at the new park these days when the weather is nice.The downtown area has seen a lot of change too. A few years ago, they got rid of the old concrete plaza area that just had acouple benches and replaced it with a really cool outdoor gathering space. They've got colorful tiles on the ground, potted plants and flowers everywhere, and tons of tables and chairs for people to sit and hang out. In the summer, they have free concerts and little festivals there. And in the winter, they set up an ice skating rink! My friends and I absolutely love going ice skating downtown when it's all lit up at night.Another recent change in my town is the new community arts center that opened up just last year. My older sister Caitlin takes painting classes there, and sometimes I get to go with her and do some crafts or little kid art projects while she works on her big canvases. The town pool finally got upgraded after being so outdated for years.
