北师版英语必修2 Unit 5 Rhythm Communication Workshop 3
〖 Unit 5 Rhythm CommunicationWorkshop〗之小船创作Objectives■ To write a review of a concert.■To practise using the contrast linking word although.■ To prepare and act out a roleplay involving asking permission.■ To listen to a song and understand it.Resources usedCassette, Writing Help 2, concert reviews (see Background).Possible problemsSome students may feel less confident with roleplay activities than other students.BackgroundIn the writing workshop, students write a concert review. If possible, try to bring in some real examples of concert reviews. The most popular music paper in the UK is the NME (New Musical Express) (). Q magazine () also has concert reviews.Routes through the material■ If you are short of time, omit the Talkback stage of the writing and speaking workshops.■ If you have time, students can do the Options activities.■ If you have two periods for this lesson, the natural break is after the writing activity.Language Power: pages 74?C75.Writing: A Concert ReviewBefore you start■ Students look at and talk about the pictures of concert tickets, programmes etc. Ask students if they keep all the programmes of concerts they have been to. Do they collect autographs? Have they ever been backstage in a theatre?■ Students read the example sentence and the sentences in the box. Point out the position of although in the middle of a sentence and at the beginning of a sentence. Draw students’ attention to the use of although with the negative idea and the use of the comma in the sentences.■ Students then rewrite the sentences using although. Answers1 The stage design was excellent, although the special effects were disappointing.2 Although the sound quality was terrible, her performance was brilliant.3 The pianist was very good, although the singing was poor.4 The costumes were beautiful, although the dancing was boring.5 Although it was a very cold night, there was not an empty seat in the concert hall.Stage 1■ Refer students back to the previous lesson and look at the concert review of Alanis Morissette.■ You may wish to bring in some concert reviews in English for students to read and compare with their own reviews.■Students remember or imagine a group of their choice.■ Students read the information in the table. Thenthey copy the table outline and complete it with information about their concert.■You may wish to revise music and performance vocabulary at this stage by eliciting words from the students.Stage 2■ Refer students to Writing Help 2 for advice about layout and vocabulary. Students use the information from their table to write notes under the four paragraph headings.Stage 3■ Students write their reviews. Go round and assist, if necessary, if students are doing their writing in class.Stage 4■ Students use Writing Help 2 (checking) to check their own writing.Talkback■ In groups, students read each other’s reviews and discuss which concert sounds best.Speaking: RoleplayBefore you start■ Read the Strategies through with the students.■ Students discuss which Strategies they use and which they think are most useful when speaking in English. ■ Ask students what the disadvantages of translation are when speaking.Ask them what Strategies they can use to simplify what they want to say, e.g. if they can’t remember the name of something (e.g. a penknife), they can say it’s a sort of/kind of/type of (small knife).Stage 1■ Students work in groups, discussing and deciding the three things. The groups should allocate a role to every member. If some of the students are less confident, they can have the same role, e.g. two brothers.■ When the groups have decided what the teenager wants to do and have given everyone a role, they move on to Stage 2.Stage 2■ Students work individually, thinking about their own role and making notes.■ Students can evaluate, first individually and then as a group, which ideas are easy to talk about and which are difficult.Stage 3■ Students look at the Function File on page 25 and choose expressions they can use. Give students time to practise saying their expressions privately so that they feel comfortable in their role.Stage 4■ Students practise the conversation in their groups, helping each other and trying to improve the roleplay as much as possible.Remind them that the roleplay must reach a conclusion in which permission is either granted or refused. Stage 5■ Students rea d the table and make enough copies of it to use for each group.■ In turn, the groups perform the roleplays and the rest of the class completes the tables.Talkback■ Each group briefly comments on its own performance ?CWhat went well? What was disappointing? Was it as good as the rehearsal they had in Stage 4?■ The class discusses the merits of each roleplay and votes for the best one.Listening■ Play the cassette twice, the first time for general comprehension and then for students to fill in the missing words.Answers1 place2 face3 anytime4 more5 forever6 stay7 myself8 choiceTapescriptI’ve seen this place a thousand times,I’ve felt this all before. And every time you call,I’ve waited there as though you might not call at all.I know this face I’m wearing now,I’ve seen this with my eyes. And though it feels so great I’m still afraid,That you’ll be leaving anytime. We’ve done this once and then you closed the door.Don’t let me fall again for nothing more.Don’t sa y you love me unless forever.Don’t tell me you need me if you’re not gonna stay. Don’t give me this feeling I’ll only believe it, Make it real or take it all away.I’ve caught myself smiling aloneJust thinking of your voice. And dreaming of your touch is all too much,You know I don’t have any choice.■ Encourage students to discuss answers to the three questions and to use the vocabulary of emotions that they know.■ Have students look at the song for two minutes, then close their books and see how many lines they can remember.OptionsPracticeStudents look back at the song in the listening workshop and, in groups, list the rhyming words, e.g. call/all, door/more, stay/ away, voice/choice.Write on the board:Group A call, allGroup B stay, awayIn groups, students list as many words as they can which rhyme. Students then feedback to the whole class and the words are added to the columns on the board. 北师大版高中英语必修二第五单元
北师大版高中英语必修二第五单元全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Day at SchoolHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm 9 years old. I just started 4th grade this year and I can't wait to tell you all about my day at school! It's always so much fun and I learn a ton of cool stuff.I wake up pretty early, around 6:30 am, because my mom makes me. If it was up to me, I'd probably sleep until lunchtime! But she says I need to get enough sleep to have energy for the whole day. We have a nice breakfast together - usually cereal or oatmeal and some fruit. Then I brush my teeth, get dressed, and get my backpack ready. The school bus comes to pick me up at 7:45 am. I live kind of far from my school, so I have to ride the bus. I don't mind though, because I get to see all my friends! We chat and play little games to pass the time. Sometimes we make a game out of trying to spot certain colors or objects out the window as we go by. Like "I Spy" but on the move!We get to school around 8:15 am. I go straight to my classroom and take my seat. My teacher, Mrs. Anderson, is usually there setting things up for the day. She's really nice and fun. Class officially starts at 8:30 am with the morning announcements over the loudspeaker. After that, we have our first class period. On Mondays, we start with math. I'm not gonna lie, math isn't my favorite subject. All those numbers and equations kind of boggle my mind sometimes. But Mrs. Anderson is really good at explaining it in ways that make sense. We've been learning about fractions this month, which is pretty interesting once you get the hang of it. It's kind of like slicing a pizza into pieces! After math, we have a short snack break at 10 am. We can eat a small, healthy snack and get a drink of water if we're thirsty.I like to have an apple or some baby carrots with ranch dip. Yum!Then it's time for English class at 10:20 am. Now English is more my thing! I love learning new vocabulary words and practicing conversations. This week we're talking about holidays and special celebrations. We got to share which holidays we celebrate with our families and learn about some fun traditions from around the world. Did you know that in Sweden, they havea special Christmas elf that shows up to play pranks and cause mischief? So cool!At 11:30 am, we go to lunch and recess. The lunch ladies in the cafeteria make the best mac and cheese! And of course, no lunch is complete without a chocolate milk to wash it down. Then we get to go outside and play for a whole hour! My friends and I usually play kickball or tag. Sometimes we just run around and make up crazy games and adventures. When we come back inside at 12:30 pm, we have science class. Science is awesome because we get to do a lot of hands-on experiments and projects. Last week, we made these cool little parachutes out of plastic bags and straws, and we got to drop them from the second floor to test out air resistance. It was so much fun watching them float down! After science, we have social studies from 1:40 pm to 2:30 pm. We're learning about ancient civilizations right now, like the Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans. I think it's so fascinating to learn about how people lived thousands of years ago. We even got to make these rad Egyptian headdresses with construction paper and feathers! Finally, we have art class until 3:15 pm. This is probably my favorite part of the day because I absolutely love being creativeand making things. Recently, we've been learning about different painting techniques like splattering, dripping, and blotting. You can make some really trippy designs that way! I made this totally rad galaxy painting that kind of looks like the cover of a rock album.Once art class is over, we get ready to head home for the day. The bus rides home always feel so much longer than the morning rides for some reason. I'm usually pretty tuckered out by then from a full day of learning and fun. As soon as I get home, I have a snack and get started on my homework for the night. But I don't mind the homework too much. All the stuff we learn at school is so fascinating to me. Every day, I get to explore new ideas and unlock more knowledge about this amazing world we live in. What's not to love about that? I know I'm really lucky to get a great education that lets me follow my curiosity.Well, that's a typical day in the life of this 4th grade scholar! Being a student is hard work, but it's also an incredibly awesome adventure. I can't wait to see what other cool things I'll get to learn and do this year. Maybe I'll even become a teacher myself one day so I can share the joy of learning with other kids! For now though, I've got tons of living and growing left to do.Thanks for reading all about my daily travels! I'll talk to you again soon, friends. Stay curious!篇2My Big DreamHi there! My name is Tommy, and I'm a 10-year-old boy who loves to dream big! Today, I want to share with you my biggest dream of all – something that I think about every single day.You see, when I grow up, I want to become an amazing scientist who makes incredible discoveries that help people all over the world. I want to find cures for diseases that make people sick, and invent new technologies that make life better and easier for everyone.I know it sounds like a big dream, but I'm not afraid to dream big! My mom always tells me that if I work hard and never give up, I can achieve anything I set my mind to. And that's exactly what I plan to do.I love learning about science, especially biology and chemistry. I find it fascinating to learn about how living things work, and how different chemicals can be combined to create new substances. In fact, just the other day, I did an experiment inmy backyard where I mixed baking soda and vinegar together, and it created a bubbling reaction that was so cool to watch! But my favorite subject in school is probably math. I love solving math problems and learning about numbers and shapes. It's like a puzzle that needs to be solved, and when I finally figure out the answer, it feels so satisfying!I've already started preparing for my dream by reading lots of books about science and doing little experiments at home. My parents have even set up a small science lab for me in our basement, where I can conduct safe experiments and learn more about the world around me.One day, I hope to make a groundbreaking discovery that changes the world for the better. Maybe I'll find a cure for cancer, or invent a new type of renewable energy that helps protect our planet. Or maybe I'll even discover a whole new planet out in the vast universe!Whatever it is, I know that as long as I keep dreaming big and working hard, I can make it happen. And who knows, maybe one day you'll see my name in the history books as one of the greatest scientists of all time!So that's my big dream. What's yours? I hope you'll never stop dreaming big and reaching for the stars, just like me. Because anything is possible if you believe in yourself and never give up!篇3My School DayHi there! My name is Timmy and I'm a 4th grader at Sunny Hills Elementary School. I want to tell you all about my typical day at school. It's a lot of fun but also a lot of work!Every morning, my mom wakes me up at 7am. I groggily get out of bed, put on my school uniform, and head to the kitchen for breakfast. My favorite is waffles with syrup and strawberries! After eating, I brush my teeth, grab my backpack, and wait for the school bus.The bus arrives at 8am sharp. I wave goodbye to my mom and hop on, finding a seat next to my best friend Michael. We chat and joke around during the 20 minute bus ride. Finally, we arrive at Sunny Hills and head inside to our classroom. The first class of the day is always math. I kind of like math, but it can be really hard sometimes. We learn things like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and more. I just have to pay close attention and not get distracted. After math, we have a short break to stretch our legs and use the bathroom if needed. Then it's time for reading class. We take turns reading aloud from cool storybooks. My favorite books are the ones with adventure, magic, and funny characters. Reading is my best subject!Around 11am, we get ready to go to the cafeteria for lunch. I always pack my lunch from home - usually a sandwich, an apple, some carrots, and a juice box. We have 30 minutes to eat, talk with friends, and maybe play a quick game before heading back to class. In the afternoon, we have science class where we learn about nature, the human body, planets, and all sorts of fascinating things. I love doing the experiments and making hypotheses! After science is social studies where we study history, geography, government, and cultures around the world. Finally, the last class of the day is gym class! This is definitely my favorite. We get to run, play sports and games, and just get all our pent-up energy out. Gym class always feels too short though. At 3pm, the final bell rings and school is over for the day. I meet my mom outside and we walk home together. I tell her all about my day over an afternoon snack. After snack time, I'll work on any homework I have, play outside for a bit, have dinner with my family, take a bath, and then get ready for bed. Phew, what a full day!Even though there's a lot of work, I really enjoy being a kid and going to school. My teachers are nice, the subjects are interesting, and I've made so many good friends. I'm proud of all my accomplishments so far and can't wait to see what the rest of the school year will bring. Time for bed now though, I've got another busy day ahead of me tomorrow! Goodnight!篇4My Big FamilyHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade at Sunny Hills Elementary School. Today, I want to tell you all about my big, awesome family!I live with my mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, two aunts, an uncle, and three cousins in a huge house. It's always so lively and fun! Never a dull moment, that's for sure. We may be a bitcrowded, but I love having my whole family together under one roof.My mom is the best! Her name is Emily and she's a nurse at the hospital downtown. She works really hard taking care of sick people. On her days off, she loves to bake yummy treats for all of us kids. Her chocolate chip cookies are out of this world! Mom is also super caring and gives the greatest hugs. Then there's my dad, Mike. He's a construction worker and helps build big buildings and roads around the city. Dad is really strong - he can lift me up over his head like I weigh nothing! When he gets home from work, we like to play basketball together in the driveway. He's taught me so many tricks for shooting hoops. My grandma Lucy is just the sweetest lady you'll ever meet. She's getting older now, but she never stops smiling and laughing. Grandma loves to knit and crochet. She's made tons of cozy afghans and sweaters for everybody. I'm her favorite grandson (don't tell my cousins!) so she's always slipping me an extra cookie or candy when Mom's not looking.Grandpa Joe is grandma's husband - they've been married forever, like 60 years! He used to work at a factory but is retired now. Grandpa is super funny and tells the best jokes and storiesabout when he was a kid. We all crack up listening to his tales about pulling pranks and getting into mischief. He also grows the most delicious vegetables in his little backyard garden. My Aunt Sarah lives with us too, along with her husband Uncle Paul and their two kids - my cousins Timmy and Susie. Aunt Sarah stays home to take care of Timmy and Susie during the day while Uncle Paul works at an office job downtown. In the evenings, Aunt Sarah is always whipping up amazinghome-cooked meals for our whole huge crew. She's an excellent cook!My other aunt is Aunt Rachel and she's still single without any kids of her own. But she loves being the "cool aunt" to me and my cousins! Aunt Rachel is a musician who plays the guitar and sings at local cafes and events sometimes. She has such a beautiful voice. I want to learn guitar from her when I'm a little older. And last but not least, my cousin Emma is 8 years old. Emma, Timmy, Susie, and I are like extra siblings since we all live together. The four of us have a total blast playing make-believe games, having competitions to see who can run the fastest, and just being crazy kids. We also love having big sleepovers together on the weekends in the playroom downstairs, stayingup late telling spooky stories and gorging on popcorn and candy.Phew, that's my ginormous family for you! I know there's a ton of us crammed into our house. But you know what they say - the more the merrier! We may get on each other's nerves sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm so lucky to have this huge support system of people who love me. A full house means there's always something exciting happening and someone to hang out with. We take care of each other through thick and thin. I've got more aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins than I can count! To me, that's what family is all about - an amazing, never-ending circle of fun and laughter.篇5Title: My Big Adventure to the CityHi there! My name is Tommy, and I'm a 10-year-old kid from a small town. I'm going to tell you all about my recent trip to the big city, which was a really exciting adventure for me!It all started a few weeks ago when my parents told me that we were going to visit my aunt and uncle who live in the city. I had never been to a city before, so I was both nervous and thrilled. I had seen pictures and videos of cities, with their tallbuildings, busy streets, and lots of people, but I couldn't wait to experience it for myself. The day finally arrived, and we packed our bags and got into the car. The drive seemed to take forever, but I kept myself entertained by playing games and singing along to my favorite songs. When we finally arrived, I was in awe of the city skyline. The buildings were so tall, and the streets were filled with cars and people walking everywhere. We arrived at my aunt and uncle's apartment, which was on the 20th floor of a high-rise building. I had never been in an elevator before, so that was a new and exciting experience for me. Their apartment was smaller than our house back home, but it had a beautiful view of the city skyline from their balcony. The first thing my aunt and uncle did was take us on a tour of the city. We walked along busy streets, dodging people and cars, and I was amazed by all the different sights and sounds. There were so many different types of buildings, from tall office towers to small shops and restaurants. The city was also very diverse, with people from all over the world speaking different languages and wearing different types of clothing. One of the highlights of our trip was visiting the city's museum. I had never been to a museum before, and I wasfascinated by all the different exhibits. There were dinosaur skeletons, ancient artifacts, and interactive displays that allowed me to learn about science and history in a fun and engaging way.Another highlight was visiting the city's park. It was a huge green space right in the middle of the city, with walking trails, playgrounds, and even a small lake. It was a peaceful oasis in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the city, and I loved running around and exploring. One of the most memorable experiences of our trip was riding the city's public transportation system. We took the subway, which was a underground train that could take us anywhere in the city quickly and efficiently. I was amazed by how many people used the subway and how smoothly it all ran.As our trip came to an end, I was sad to leave the city behind.I had fallen in love with the energy and excitement of urban life, and I couldn't wait to visit again. On the drive back home, I kept thinking about all the new experiences I had and how much I had learned.Looking back, my trip to the city was truly a big adventure for a small-town kid like me. I got to see and do so many new things, from riding elevators and subways to visiting museumsand trying new foods. It was a bit overwhelming at times, but it also opened my eyes to the world beyond my small town.I know that there's still so much more for me to explore and experience in the city, and I can't wait for my next big adventure. Who knows, maybe one day I'll even get to live in the city myself!篇6Absolutely! Here is an article of around 2000 words, written in the tone of an elementary school student, based on the content from Unit 5 of the Beijing Normal University High School English Compulsory 2 textbook:Hi everyone! It's me again, your friendly neighborhood kid. Today, I want to tell you all about this really cool book I read for my English class. It's called "Beijing Normal University High School English Compulsory 2," and let me tell you, it's like nothing I've ever read before! The part that really caught my attention was Unit 5. It's all about these things called "biographies" and "autobiographies." At first, I was like, "What are those big words?" But then my teacher explained that a biography is a story about someone else's life, and an autobiography is when you write about your own life. How cool is that? One of the biographies we read was about this guy named Nelson Mandela. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Who's that?" Well, let me tell you, he was a pretty impressive dude. He was born in South Africa, and he spent a lot of his life fighting against something called "apartheid," which was basically a system that treated people differently based on the color of their skin. Can you imagine that? It's like if the kids on the playground decided that only the kids wearing blue shirts could play on the swings. Totally unfair, right?Anyway, Nelson Mandela was so passionate about ending apartheid that he ended up going to prison for 27 whole years! That's longer than I've been alive! But even in prison, he never lost hope or gave up on his dream of equality for everyone. And you know what? After he got out of prison, he became the first black president of South Africa! How awesome is that?Another person we learned about was Maya Angelou. She was an African American woman who wrote books and poems and did all sorts of cool stuff. But her life wasn't always easy. When she was little, she went through some really tough times that made her feel like she couldn't speak up or use her voice. But eventually, she found the courage to share her story and herwords with the world, and now she's known as one of the greatest writers ever! One of my favorite parts of the unit was when we read Maya Angelou's poem called "Phenomenal Woman." It's all about embracing who you are and being confident in your own skin. The way she describes a phenomenal woman is so empowering and inspiring. It made me feel like I could take on the world, even at my age!We also learned about this guy named Abraham Lincoln, who was the president of the United States a really long time ago. He's famous for abolishing slavery and helping to end the Civil War. Can you imagine being the leader of an entire country, especially during such a difficult time? I can barely keep my room clean, let alone run a whole nation! But what really stuck with me was the way Lincoln never gave up, even when things seemed impossible. He faced so many challenges and obstacles, but he kept pushing forward because he believed in his cause. It just goes to show that if you have determination and perseverance, you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.That's not all, though! We also read about Helen Keller, who was both blind and deaf from a very young age. Despite herdisabilities, she went on to become an author, activist, and overall incredible human being. Her story is a testament to the power of resilience and never letting anything hold you back. And let's not forget about Mother Teresa, the nun who dedicated her life to helping the poor and underprivileged. She showed us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a huge difference in someone's life.Honestly, I could go on and on about all the amazing people we learned about in Unit 5. But I think the biggest lesson I took away from it all is that everyone has a story, and every story is worth telling. Whether it's a famous historical figure or the kid sitting next to you in class, we all have experiences and perspectives that shape who we are.So, the next time you're feeling down or like you're not good enough, just remember all the incredible people we learned about in this unit. They faced obstacles and challenges that seem insurmountable, but they never gave up. They kept pushing forward, using their voices and their stories to make a difference in the world.Who knows? Maybe one day, someone will be reading a biography or autobiography about you and your awesome life! But for now, I'll just keep working on becoming the best version of myself, one day at a time.Alright, that's all for now, folks! Thanks for letting me share my thoughts on this super cool unit. Until next time, stay amazing, and never stop learning!Your friend,[Your Name]。
