As I was about to leave, I noticed a piece of paper on the floor. I picked it up and saw the words "FINAL-TERM EXAMINATION" at the top. I put the paper into my school bag secretly and ran out of the room. After I came back home, I took out the paper quickly. It was the exam paper of my worst subject, History. I felt excited. My heart beat fast. I took out my History book and started working on the answer. I had never answered any questions so seriously. On the day of the History exam, I went into the exam hall confidently. When the paper was sent to me, I dreamt of getting the highest mark in the whole grade and could not help smiling. So, choosing a job is one of the most important decisions to make in life. For my job, there are three important things that I will consider:The first one -that I must work in an area I like-is most important to me. Someone once said if you find a job that you enjoy, then you won't have to work another day. I would like to work in an area where I can be more creative. I would like to be the most valuable member there. All this is possible only if I like what I do.The second one is that the area of my work must lead me to solve some ne w and hard problems. I would like to stay in the same area for a long time. In order for this to happen, the work must provide enough problems. More than just working to live, I enjoy making a difference and trying my best for the whole progress. I would also like to be well remunerated for my hard work, so I can lead a comfortable life with this hard-won money. Then I can provide the best for my family. The third important thing is that I would like to work in an area that would help other people. The work in my mind is in fields such as the army, training or management. In such areas, I can help to develop the abilities of others and bring out their best. It would be a most satisfying job to help young people to become the best that they can be. When I become old, I would like to look back with a great sense of satisfaction that thousands of people have become better persons through my work.I accept the idea that no one should make a choice of a job suddenly or quickly. He should decide what he wants to be in the long run. Then, he should decide how he works towards it. He should study the proper courses, read the books and speak to knowledgeable persons in that field before making a job choice. A good choice will most probably lead to a better life.( )46. According to the passage, a good job choice probably makes people _ .A. solve fewer problemsB. choose a good lifeC. be good family membersD. provide hard things( )47. The writer considers an enjoyable job most important because .A. he has to bring out his bestB. it can make him more creativeC. he will have to work another dayD. it is possible for him to live better( )48. The underlined word "remunerated" in the passage means" ".A. trainedB. praisedC. acceptedD. paid( )49. The writer wants to tell us that everyone should 。

Unfortunately, we heard su ch news recently that rare animals, even kept in the zoo, couldn’t escape being hurt or killed, at which we can feel nothing but shocked. The reason why it happened is that some people lack understanding about these animals and care for them. Therefore, we should study the information about rare animals and keep it in mind that protecting animals is the duty of everyone. After all, protecting animals is protecting ourselves.读写任务Many senior high school students, like Julienne, skip classes to do part-time jobs to get more experience and knowledge for their future, on which opinions are divided among students.I know some of my classmates often do part-time jobs in the summer or winter holidays, during which they are free from study pressure, hoping to communicate and cooperate with others and learn some professional knowledge in some fields. In my opinion, it is all right for students to do part-time jobs as long as they can make sure of a balance between work and study. There are several reasons. First of all, they will learn that it isn’t easy to make money while doing part-time jobs. And they can gain some knowledge, social experience or skills that cannot be gained at school. In addition, taking part in part-time jobs early is a necessary part of quality education.【文章大意】充足的睡眠对青少年的健康和成绩有好处。

ABorn in the State of New York on May 14th, 1984, Mark Zuckerberg was an instant success. In his high school years, he was considered one of top students in the classics, before moving into the arts, sciences, and literature, again picking up high marks and receiving academic praise. It earned him admission to Harvard University. As a rebellious yet relatively quiet student, he created a website called Facemash in the university– an instantly controversial website that encouraged students to rate each other based on appearance. The site was controversial for several reasons. The first was its illegal use of photographs, which the university and students took issue with. The second was its controversial nature – not every student liked being ranked based on their appearance. The third was its huge resource use –while it was hosted on Harvard servers, it was the most popular page in the university’s entire network.Zuckerberg was soon forced to shut the site down, but its popularity and controversy had made him consider its future potential. He soon turned the simple site into a personal one for Harvard students, encouraging them to network with their peers at the college. It was then, together with his two friends, that they launched “The Facebook”, which immediately spread to other colleges and grew into a public service that anyone could access in the United States, whether to network with friends and family, or to play games. The company has been criticized frequently, nevertheless, Zuckerberg has remained true to his initial vision – to create a website that the entire world can use to communicate openly and easily with one another and to keep the user experience clean and pure. But there's good news for animal lovers; you can now cosy up with a cup of tea while spending time with furry friends, as the global movement of animal café has reached the UK.The international phenomenon originated in Taipei, where the world's first cat café, Cat Flower Garden, opened in 1998. Curious tourists soon discovered the pet paradise and brought the concept over to Japan. The first Japanese cat café opened in Osaka in 2005, and now there are said to be nearly 40 in Tokyo alone.Japan has now gone far beyond the original concept, and some of the trendiest places to visit nowadays have owls, rabbits and goats hanging around. Tokyo's Fukuro no Mise, which means the “Shop of Owls” , has full guest lists for up to two months.Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium was the first of its kind to open up in East London last year. The successful cat café takes bookings 50 days ahead and usually about 90% of them book out about 5 -6 weeks in advance, Though the business has been a success, the owner Lauren Pears worries a little bit about the sudden rise of cat café everywhere.“Cat cafés are still in their beginn ings here and we've seen a very recent cautionary tale springing up in Singapore with the sudden burst of cat café in the city. Earlier this year, one of them was closed down after serious animal welfare issues resulted in the deaths of several cats. ”She emphasizes that even though the job is fun and rewarding, it also comes with serious responsibility.8. Which country does the text mainly report about?A . Singapore. B. China. C. Japan. D. UK.DWhen students and parents are asked to rate subjects according to their importance, the arts are unavoidably at the bottom of the list. Music is nice, people seem to say, but not important. Too often it is viewed as entertainment, but certainly not an education priority(优先). This view is shortsighted. In fact, music education is beneficial and important for all students.Music tells us who we are, because music is an expression of the beings who create it, it reflects their thinking and values, as well as the social environment it came from. Rock music represents a lifestyle just as surely as does a Schubert song. The jazz influence that GeorgeGershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is obviously American because it came from American musical traditions. Music expresses our character and values. It gives us identity as a society.Music provides a kind of perception (感知) that cannot be acquired any other way. Science can explain how the sun rises and sets. The arts explore the emotive (情感的) meaning of the same phenomenon. We need every possible way to discover and respond to our world for one simple but powerful reason: No one way can get it all.The arts are forms of thought as powerful in what they communicate as mathematical and scientific symbols. They are ways we human beings “talk” to each other. They are the language of civilization through which we express our fears, our curiosities, our hungers, our discoveries, our hopes. The arts are ways we give form to our ideas and imagination so that they can be shared with others. When we do not give children access to an important way of expressing themselves such as music, we take away from them the meanings that music expresses.Science and technology do not tell us what it means to be human. The arts do. Music is an important way we express human suffering, celebration, the meaning and value of peace and love.So music education is far more necessary than people seem to realize.12. According to Paragraph 1, students ____ .A. prefer the arts to scienceB. disagree with their parents on educationC. view music as an overlooked subjectD. regard music as a way of entertainment13. In Paragraph 2, the author uses jazz as an example to_________ .A. compare it with rock musicB. prefer the arts to scienceC. introduce American musical traditionsD. show music identifies a society14. According to the passage, the arts and science__________.A. approach the world from different anglesB. explore different phenomena of the worldC. express people’s feeling in different waysD. explain what it means to be human15. What is the main idea of the passage?A. Music is an effective communication tool.B. Music should be of top education priority.C. Music education deserves more attention.D. Music education makes students more imaginative.第二节(共5小题,每小题2分,共10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的七个选项中选出能填入空白处得最佳选项。

I want to buy a personal gift for my brother. He’s taking a trip to South America. W: Is he going by ship or plane?M: He’s flying. My gift will hav e to be something light in weight. Where is it?W: No, that’s my grandmother’s house. She lives in Kentucky. She has lived in the same neighborhood since she was first married, so she knows all the neighbors, young and old, and she has lots of friends.M: Why doesn’t she live with you? Don’t you miss her?W: Well, actually, we talk to her on the phone every week and visit her at least once a year, but we are busy with our lives and so is she. We love to have her visit, but we all know that if she lived with us, we might not get along so well.Text 9W: And I realized we were completely lost, but at least we got there in the end.M: Funny you should say that because, er, a similar thing happened to me one time when I was abroad. We were actually doing a concert in this bar in Germany.W: Really?M: I was actually about to appear on stage, you know, with the band, and I just though t, “I’ll just go out for a little walk and get some fresh air,” ‘cause I had about a half an hour before we had to go on.W: Uh-huh.M: And I went outside, you know, had a look around, walked around for a bit…and then I decided to go back and, uh, I couldn’t find it! It was about two minutes before we were supposed to start.W: No, you’re joking!M: Yeah! I thought, “Ah! What am I gonna do?”W: Could you ask for directions?M: Well, I tried. I asked this old woman, but she didn’t speak English, and I don’t speak German…W: Don’t you? Oh, right.M: And then, I realized I couldn’t remember the name of the bar, or the street it was on or anything. So, you know, I was in the middle of a town I didn’t know, not knowing the language…and luckily, I saw someon e wearing one of our T-shirts. He was obviously going to the concert, so I sort of followed him back to the bar.W: Wow, that was lucky! Thank goodness!M: And when I got there, the guys were like, “Where have you been? We thought you’d run out on us!” Any way, we managed.Text 10M: Hello. I’m Callum Robertson, and this is London Life. In the program today, let me ask you a question first: What do you think would be the hardest job in Britain? A police officer? Perhaps a deep-sea fisherman? Well, no, according to recent research, being a London taxi driver takes that prize. It’s really a hard job, really difficult. One reason is the traffic. It’s getting worse and worse in London. For most of us, if we have to sit in a traffic jam for a few minutes, we get anxious. But imagine if you had to do that all day, every day as your job. What’s more, passengers get into the taxi and want to get from A to B as quickly as possible. They’re in a hurry, and that makes things worse for the drivers. To prepare for the test, would-be drivers have to remember ways and places of interest around Central London. This is an area which has about 25,000 streets. They need to be able to take passengers from A to B without having to look at a map and without having to ask for directions. It usually takes nearly three years to pass the test, so it is also found in the research that parts of the brains of taxi drivers are actually larger than those in the general population. It seems as if learning all the streets and ways makes a part of the brain grow. Well, anyway, this is a most tiring job. Next time you’re stuck in a traffic jam and feel mad, spare a thought for the taxi drivers, who have to spend most of their working life in them.。
