范文:
As is humorously depicted in the drawing above, a snail is moving but steadily, right to the end of the course while the hare stops to lie down for a rest and falls asleep. What is indicated in the very picture is both meaningful and instructive.
The implication of the drawing can be interpreted with respect to perseverance. Napoleon declared, “Victory belongs to the most persevering.” Life is in a sense a battle. The man who thinks to get on by mere smartness and by idling meets failure at last. Behind every great achievement in anyone’s life lies perseverance. We see this in every human endeavor. We all have read of great musicians, writersand
inventors who have created or discoveredbreakthroughs in human achievement. Invariably they have said that they owe all their success to perseverance.
Of all the countless example, the sage of Colonel Sunders is perhaps one of the most outstanding. The 65-year-old man from Kentucky had a dream to start a chain of fried chicken restaurants all over the world. To realize his dream, the knew that he needed a restaurant owner to go into partnership with him to open the first restaurant and to fry chicken according to the secret recipe he had. Colonel Saunders had knocked on 1,008 doors before he finally found his partner. It is doubtful whether many of us would have had the perseverance to knock even a hundred doors.
