1Introduction

This document provides the method of procedure for the Alcatel-Lucent 9916 Macro Base Station integration.

2Product description

The 9916 Macro is a small CDMA cell that is optimized for four carrier/three sector configurations and will be capable of expanding to seven carriers/three sectors. The base station is currently available in single-band configurations (850 MHz) for indoor rack mounted installations only. Future upgrades will support a mix of 850 MHz and 2100 MHz CDMA or 850 MHz CDMA/LTE or 2100 MHz CDMA/LTE on the same base station.

The 9916 Macro cell site configuration uses a Digital Unit with 2 URC-B controller that supports 3G1X, EVDO, and mixed configurations, a multi-sector transmit receiver unit (MS-TRU) (formerly, RF Unit), a Filter Unit. Four expansion slots are used for CMU-V or SBEVM circuit packs, a URC-II controller, and an R-OCM circuit pack that operates in conjunction with the LTE Module.

2.1Product capabilities

The product capabilities for the 9916 Macro in CDMA and LTE (future) mixed

configurations are as follows:

• Indoor rack mounted

• 850 MHz

• Non-integrated power, -48 VDC

• One to four carriers/three sectors; up to seven carriers/ three sectors (future)

• Up to eight T1/E1 lines with URC-B (twelve with URC-II), or one Ethernet line/

10/100 Base-TX metallic interface (all have secondary protection only)

• Up to eight user alarms

• GPS

• Antenna sharing (EV-DO only)

• No antenna test or CLGC EDPD

2.2Field replaceable units (FRUs)

The FRUs for the 9916 Macro are as follows:

• Digital Unit (DU)

• Multi-sector Transmit Receiver Unit (MS-TRU)

• Filter Unit

• LNA Assembly

• Fan Unit

• Power Unit

• CMU-V, SBEVM, and URC-II in expansion slots.

• Reverse OCM (future)

• LTE Module (future)
