Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to use printed material, such as books and articles, to do research than to use the internet.【参考内容】There is a debate over whether printed material or the internet is a better source for research. While some argue that printed material is more reliable, others believe that the internet provides more accessible and up-to-date information. In my opinion, using the internet is a better option for research for several reasons. Firstly, the internet provides a vast amount of information that is easily accessible. Unlike printed material that may require a trip to a library or bookstore, the internet allows users to access information from anywhere at any time. This convenience is especially beneficial for students and researchers who may need to quickly find information for an assignment or project. Additionally, the internet provides more up-to-date information compared to printed material. Books and articles may take months or even years to get published, which means the information they contain may become outdated by the time they reach the readers. On the other hand, the internet provides real-time information that is constantly being updated. This is particularly useful for areas such as science and technology, where new discoveries are made regularly.Furthermore, the internet allows for a more interactive and dynamic research experience. Unlike printed material, the internetprovides various multimedia resources such as videos, images, and interactive simulations. These resources can significantly enhance the learning experience and help researchers better understand complex concepts. Moreover, the internet allows users to connect with other researchers, join online forums, and share knowledge and ideas. This collaborative aspect of the internet promotes a broader scope of research and enables researchers to learn from one another. In conclusion, while printed material has its merits, such as reliability and tangibility, the internet offers more convenience, up-to-dateness, and interactivity, making it a better option for research. It is crucial for researchers to adapt to the digital age and take advantage of the vast resources available on the internet.2. Some people believe that it's best to live in a small town. Others think that it's better to live in a big city.【参考内容】The debate between living in a small town and living in a big city has been ongoing for a long time. Each has its advantages and disadvantages, and the choice ultimately depends on anindividual's preferences and priorities.Living in a small town offers a sense of tight-knit community and tranquility that is often absent in big cities. People in small towns tend to know their neighbors and have strong social connections. The pace of life is generally slower, and there is less stress and traffic congestion. Small towns also offer natural beauty and a closer connection to nature, with more open spaces and green areas. On the other hand, big cities offer a multitude of opportunities and amenities that cannot be found in small towns. Cities are oftencultural and economic hubs, providing diverse employment opportunities and a vibrant social scene. They offer a wide range of entertainment options, such as theaters, museums, restaurants, and shopping centers. Additionally, big cities tend to have better healthcare and educational facilities, as well as better public transportation systems. Moreover, big cities offer a greater sense of anonymity and freedom. In a small town, everyone knows everyone else's business, which can lead to a lack of privacy. In a big city, individuals have more opportunities to reinvent themselves and pursue their interests without fear of judgment or scrutiny from others. In conclusion, the decision to live in a small town or a big city depends on an individual's personality, preferences, and goals. Some may prefer the warmth and closeness of a small community, while others may thrive in the diversity and excitement of a big city. Ultimately, it is important to choose a living environment that aligns with one's personal values and aspirations.

【1】Does technology make children less creative than in the past? Are our kids becoming lazier and less creative, less imaginable than before as a consequence of highly advanced technology? My answer is no, and just the opposite, technology has apparently assisted our kids to become more creative.First and foremost, technology has provided children with easy access to scientific and liberal art resources which is their best source of inspiration. For example, children could now easily gain access to academic databases through iPad screen, read classical works on Kindle, or watch historic documents on Internet. These great works are essentially helpful to arousing their curiosity and prepares them with key knowledge necessary for any creation. However, these wonderful equipments and facilities are never as handy in the past, when kids could only reach limited resources in public libraries or schools. In this sense, technology has provided the possibility for children to be more creative.Second, technology has equipped children with professional apparatus which could finally realize their imagination. This takes form particularly as computer softwares and applications, such as Photoshop for creative graphic design, Overture for easily composing a piece of music, 3DMax for building up a virtual world, etc.. All the software were never as handy as they are at present, and this would absolutely provides our children aneffective tool for realizing their creativity.Third, technology itself is a market place where creative ideas are economically encouraged. Steve Jobs earned millions of dollars a year for his unparallel creation, and Mark Zuckberg gained his reputation for the genius social network. Therefore, technology has provided children the internal motive to develop their creativity. However, it is undeniable that technology might make children become lazier and be comfortable with what is already available because everything are so convenient nowadays and there seems to be no way to improve them. Children lost in pc games or blindly pursuing every single piece of tech apparatus is a relevant example. Thus, it is always necessary to keep children’s mind active in the marvelous world of technology. In a nutshell, I still regard children as becoming increasingly creative in technology development, although it might bring minor side effect. As along as we keep a balanced mood on children enjoying the fruit of technology, they are sure to contribute more to innovation than in the past. 【2】Coincident with most people's notion is my heartfelt belief that television advertising directed toward young children should not be allowed. Since the advent of television, advertising has permeated every corner and every minute of our life. It is not uncommon to observe the large amounts of television advertising aiming at innocent young children. My reasons for opposing advertising directed toward young children are as follows. In the first place, advertising may waste money and cause emotional torture of parents when they fail to fulfill their children's unreasonable demands. However, nowadays, regardless of what children's true need, most of advertising are promoting a largenumber of products that is useless or unsuitable to children. For example, when a family ishaving a pleasant dinner together on Christmas Eve, a cartoon figure lion king would appear on screen and hold a tub of popcorn to attract children's attention. It is a typical advertising strategy host sale. By combining popular cartoon figures and products, advertising could draw children's attention and achieve a better sale. However, it may cause some problems; first, some children may be easy to be drawn into the content in the advertising; second, if children are attracted by it and they insist on purchasing it while parents consider the products as a piece of meaningless junk, cry and screams could drive their parents crazy. Therefore, advertising could cause problems not only for children to understand but also may bother and upset their parents. Furthermore, advertising could mislead children for major goal of most of advertisings is to make profits whereas children between age two to five lack ability of understanding and judgment. Children are easily influenced by outside world, and admittedly television advertising play a negative role in this aspect for they tend to exaggerate the advantage of their products. For example, my two year old younger brother is attracted to Transformer, Spiderman and Superman models. In his mind, these toys are magic, fantastic and powerful as imparted by advertising. In fact, they are just normal toys; they cannot fly, climb mountains or save people's life. Some two year old boys even are just babbling instead of speaking clearly, not to mention identifying misleading messages conveyed in the advertisings. Thus, these advertising has misled and distorted children’s vision toward reality. All in all, though there are someundeniable benefits of advertising for children; for example, advertising could open an amazing world of imagination and innovation for children by informing them what a fabulous Barbie or a magnificent castle is. However, these advantages could be ignored when its disadvantages are taken into consideration. It would mislead the children, distort their vision toward reality and even cause quarrels and financial burdens for parents.。

In fact, historically, only small groups have managed to survive in the unforgiving rainforest that encompasses the entire area. The Amazon Rainforest contains abundant plant and animal life yet is incapable of supporting sizable human populations. One reason for this is the poor quality of the soil, which is acidic in nature. Therefore, while farmers can raise crops such as corn and beans for one or two seasons, after that, the soil becomes so depleted that nothing else will grow in it. Even today, when more advanced farming methods are available, not enough food can be grown to support a large number of people in the Amazon. In the past, there was a lack of sources of protein, which humans need to survive, in the Amazon. Food animals such as cows and sheep only appeared in South America when the Europeans imported them in the 1500s. Even after being introduced to the land, there were never big herds of animals because the poor soil and jungle-covered land could not produce sufficient food to support them.Three great civilizations once lived in the Americas: the Mayas, Incas, and Aztecs. None of them resided in the Amazon. Additionally, the people in all three civilizations constructed stone buildings. Stone was the primary building material for their palaces and temples, which humans in ancient cultures virtually always constructed. Yet there is little stone that can be used for construction anywhere in the Amazon. Likewise, no palaces and temples have been discovered or unearthed by archaeologists, which makes it unlikely that any human settlements of considerable size ever existed there. Only small groups have managed to survive in the unforgiving rainforest that encompasses the entire area.
Nowadays, thanks to the development of Internet, we are exposed to a vast ocean of information. Some argue that so much information brings a great benefit to our life and study. But for me, the experience with surfing Internet leads me to believe that accessing much information cause more problems than it solves。
Task:It has been said, “Not everything that is learned is contained in books.” Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books. In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?. We all crave knowledge, especially in this Age of Information, but what is the best source of knowledge? Are we to believe Albert Camus, who stated” The place we are to get knowledge is in books”? Or are we better served by following Albert Einstein's counsel that “The only source of knowledge is experience”? Although books have their place in one's learning, there is no substitute for experience; indeed, it is experience that is ultimately the most important source of knowledge.First, let us consider the knowledge needed to undertake a profession-for example, that of a physician. Knowledge gained from books provides the foundation of a doctor's training: study in a medical school begins with a near-overload of reading on anatomy, physiology and maladies both rare and common. However, during this time the medical student is also learning through experience, beginning with dissecting cadavers from almost the first day of medical school. Then, the aspiring physician must complete four years of residency, consisting of actual supervised experience at a hospital in which he or she now must put into practice all of the knowledge he or she has edge of dealing with patients, prescribing medication, and the joy and sadness of saving and losing patients; in other words, it is through experience that these residents finally learn what it means to be a doctor. What about knowledge other than professional expertise-for example, knowledge about another culture? In this realm as well, both books and real-life experience enrich and edify us. For example, Paris is perhaps the most talked-about and written-about city in the world. We could read Hemingway's A Moveable Feast, in which he describes the excitement and intellectual spirit-as well as the restaurants and plentiful red wine-of Paris in the 1920's. Or, we could travel to Paris and eat at bistros, walk across the Pont Neuf and look at the river Seine, visit the Louvre museum, and have adventures of our own. Clearly, most people would have attained more lasting and vivid knowledge by visiting Paris on their own rather than reading about it secondhand. In summary, experience, rather than books, is more central to our quest for learning, especially with regard to professional expertise. With regard to learning about another culture, experience is also irreplaceable. Yet not everyone in the world will have the health or financial resources to carry out a trip to Paris. But many people have access to a local library where they can borrow A Moveable Feast and, at no cost, read Hemingway's vibrant descriptions of Paris. We cannot forget the complementary and unique knowledge afforded by books, but experience is the most precious source of knowledge. Some people say that computers have made life easier and more convenient. Other people saythat computers have made life more complex and stressful. What is your opinion? Use specificreasons and examples to support your answer. Some universities require students to choose a variety of subjects; others only require students tospecialize in one subject. I deem the first one as the premier choice. Among countless factors, there are three conspicuous aspects as follows. The main reason for my propensity that students should take classes in many subjects is that theycan make full use of the abundant resources that a university has to offer. A university has plentyof educational and research resources. It is a very good idea to make full use of these valuableassets while studying in the university. The best way to achieve this is to take a variety of subjectsas much as possible. Through learning these courses, a student can get access to knowledge andresources in different areas. On the contrary, if a student only specializes in one subject, he willnot have a chance to get access to other resources offered by the university.Another reason can be seen by every person is that by choosing many subjects students can broaden their knowledge and make a solid foundation for their future concentrated study. Whatever the student will concentrate on in his senior years in college, it is necessary that hechoose a wide range of subjects to build the knowledge foundation. Take the field of BusinessManagement for example, the student has to acquire knowledge in writing, accounting, economicsand human resource management before he can successfully start his major concentration argument I support in the first paragraph is also in a position of advantage because studentscan be more adaptable in their future career if they choose a variety of subjects during theiruniversity study. It is obvious that the development of modern society requires people with inter-disciplinary and comprehensive knowledge. If a student chooses a variety of subjects in hisuniversity study, and gained a breath and width of knowledge, he will be more adaptable to therequirement of the society, and be able to easily adjust to many kinds of jobs. This will benefit hisfuture career. In a word, taking into account of all these factors, we may reach the conclusion that studentsshould take classes in many subjects in a university. In 1990, new rules and guidelines were adopted in the United Kingdom that has changed the whole field of Archaeology in that country. The new guidelines improved the situation in all there areas discussed in the passage.First, the new guidelines state that before any construction project can start, the construction site has to be examined by archaeologists to see whether the site is of archaeological interest or value. If the site is of archaeological interest, the next step is for the builders, archaeologists and local government officials to get together and make a plan for preserving the archaeological artifacts, either by building around them or by excavating and documenting them properly before the construction is allowed to proceed.Second, an important part of the new guidelines is a rule that any archaeological work done on the construction site will be paid for by the construction company not by the government. The construction company has to pay for the initial examination of the site, and then for all the work carried out under the preservation plan. This is a whole new source of financial support. The funding from construction companies has allowed researchers to study a far greater range of archaeological sites than they could in the past.Last, the new guidelines provide a lot of paid work for archaeologists, work that didn’t exist before. Expert archaeologists are now hired at all stages of the process to examine the site for archaeological value, then to help draw up the preservation plan to do the research in a professional scientific manner and finally to process the date and write reports and articles. The increased job and career opportunities in Archaeology have increased the number of professional archaeologists in Britain, which is now the highest it’s ever been. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to travel is in a group ledby a tour guide. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. There are a lot of views whether the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide. Differentpeople has different viewpoint. In my opinion, a group led by a tour guide is the best way totravel. The argument for this view goes as follows:In the first place, there are many advantages when people travel in a group. First, people will notfeel boring in a long trip. People can talk, laugh and make joking like a big family. Second, thegroup will help you a lot when you have any emergency. The people in the group could help youfigure out the awkward situation that will be unimaginable when you travel alone. Third, with thegroup discount, such as the discount for airplane ticket, the hotel, and the admission ticket, travelers can save a lot of money when they use the group discount. In the second place, there are many advantages too when people travel led by a tour guide. Thetour guide will arrange all the details about the trip in advance. The traveler need not worry aboutwhere to find the hotel, where to rent the car, and how to find the direction. It will make the trip a little bit easy. Another advantage is that led by a tour guide will save much time than travelingalone. With the professional knowledge, tour guide will make the smartest schedule. I wouldnever forget that one of my friend, a city tour guide in the Shanghai, China, said that she can leadtraveler to visit the whole city by one day which people should spend two or three days to finishit. In conclusion, there are many advantages when people travels in a group led by a tour guide, suchas save money, save time, do not feel boring, and is easy to take care of. Therefore, I stronglyagree that the best way to travel is in a group led by a tour guide.。

Nowadays, the annual incomes of many sports stars and film stars come to millions of dollars. Some people claim that their salaries are too high. Yet, in my opinion, such salaries are well deserved. They work hard to become famous, provide entertainment for us, and win honors for their countries.First, famous athletes and entertainers make painstaking efforts to achieve fame. Fame is a wonderful thing to have, but it seldom appears overnight. Famous people have worked hard for years to achieve their fame today and they have to continue their good work to maintain it. For their hard work, sports and entertaining stars deserve to be generously rewarded. Unfortunately, people tend to focus on the huge amounts of money made by them. They rarely appreciate the efforts that athletes and entertainers have to make in order to achieve the fame that they have today. For example, in order to win the first place in a 100-meter dash, an athlete has to cover hundreds of miles during training. Famous stars deserve their high salaries because they have worked hard.Second, sports and entertaining stars provide us with good entertainment. On weekends, many of us attend a football match that includes Beckham, see a movie that stars Julia Roberts, or go to a concert that features Celine Dion. These people help us make good use of our free time by entertaining us. As a result, we feelinspired as well as relaxed. In other words, we feel energetic again after attending the events. We even feel that we have more to enjoy in life and have new aspirations. For such reasons, these people are worth their high salaries.Third, athletes and entertainers win honors for their countries. For example, after four years’ hard work, many athletes win gold medals at the Olympics Games. They are able to make millions of dollars a year after the games. Such high salaries are justified, because these athletes have won honors for their countries in the most competitive arena and have made their people proud, something few people can even dream of. This is true for entertainers as well. Many actors and actresses receive high salaries after they have won Oscars or prizes at Cannes Films Festival. Those people also deserve high salaries, because they have made a name in films for their country and have made their country better known by people elsewhere in the world. All in all, famous athletes and entertainers merit their high salaries, for their hard work, entertainment they provide, and their contribution to their country. If I had a chance, I would be a famous star who can make millions of dollars a year. No matter who you are, you are definitely in a dire need for excitement and thrill. Then, a controversy might appear among the public whether citizens should only watch those movies that can teach something in real life. Some of you may only watch those movies that can help to expand one’s knowledge and reveal the life stories, however, I strongly disagree with the statement and I think there will be a variety of reasons to watch movies.Initially, entertainment is the principle reason for the entire world watching movies. Be it comedy, science-fiction, drama or action, movies are a medium of leisure and recreation for every single individual ranging from those on streets to the high and mighty residents in penthouses. Put it in another words, the greatest of all benefits of watching a movie is that it entertains you and calms your tumultuous heart down. Take me as an example. I feel very tired after the full devotion to my career in a week and there is no time for the gym and outdoor activities just because of the busy work schedules. Then, I will choose to lie on my couch and watch movies of many kinds with a bowl of munchies like popcorns and sodas during the weekends. By being engrossed in a comedy show that can evoke hearty laughs, I will encounter situations with a positive frame of mind. Besides, when watching the horror movies, I will feel excited, scared, and emotional during those two and a half hours, leading me to be transferred to a world far away from the reality. Obviously, no matter what kind of movies they are, they will be worth watching if they can entertain you.Another general concern about movies is that they can help fasten the bonds between families. More often than not, what audiences are more focused on, during the process of watching movies, is the time they spend with their families rather than the well-orchestrated plots or the life lessons they might disclose. Current citizens can afford to spend too much time having fun like traveling around the city or having a party because most of them are under huge pressure from the society and most of their time has to be occupied by a variety of professional tasks. However, watching movies won’t consume too much time, serving as a stress buster and lubricant to strengthen relationshipwith families. Almost at every weekend, I will hang out with my girlfriend to watch movies whatever the genre is and staying with each other at that moment can help shorten our mental distance and we can just hold hands of each other and feel so close between us. Accordingly, my personal experience can help explain how we spend with our families or lovers like watching movies matters more than what we can learn from the movies. In a word, I don’t think only those movies that tell us important life stories are worth watching. What I truly believe is those movies that can entertain audiences and provide viewers with a chance to stay with each other are more welcomed. As the technology of public transportation keeps advancing, more citizens can choose to dwell in the cities that are beneficial to their own development. Inevitably, there occurs a controversy whether moving to a new city or country will lead to the rupture of relationship among friends. From my perspective, I think the statement is not sensible.Firstly, moving to a new country or city will not result in the loss of old friends. To be more specific, the maintenance of friendship doesn’t lie in how far they l ive with each other and the development of technology has diversified the ways of interacting with friends. The invention of cellphones break the shackles caused by distance and overseas students can choose to communicate with their family members and friends through a variety of Apps like WeChat that makes video calls possible. Except for that, by looking at the pictures popping up all over the social media like Facebook, people can easily capture what is happening to their friends. For instance, my friend Selina took selfie in the Sydney Opera House a week ago and I would learnthat she was having fun in the Australia with her picture posted on the Instagram. Therefore, a wide range of advanced electronic gadgets can be used to sustain friendship. Moreover, instead of losing old friends, city migrants can even enlarge their social circles and achieve more success. Restricted in a city for a long period, people may be trapped in a situation that would block their development and they can gain refreshing experience while immigrating to a new city. My friend of Mine named Michael served as a Market Analyst in a renewed company in Beijing. However, he couldn’t see any progress in recent years and then an opportunity comes out. Because of his five-year working experience, a foreign trade cooperation tried to recruit him as the Market Analyst because the firm was planning to start a new program. Then he grasped the chance and earn a challenging life that he likes even though he was required to work in Shanghai. Our relationship have not experienced any interruption and his strong ability of being adapted to the new environment helps him to make lots of new friends. Accordingly, moving to a new city can, occasionally, help to break the deadlock in our professions.Admittedly, it can be sensible that friends can be estranged owing to the long distance with each other. Specifically speaking, the chances to meet with each other will be limited a lot. However, as I just put, for one thing, people can talk with each other through various social network software. For another thing, the distance between cities is not a problem anymore since there have been many public transportation tools like the high-speed trains and airplanes that will lead us to anyplace we try to go in a very short period. In a word, moving to a new city or a new country is goodchoice under some circumstance. Besides, the highly developed technology can help to strengthen the relations with our friends and the possibilities of living a different life and achieving success can both explain why I stand by the statement that it is a good thing to move.。

First, contributors to a communal online encyclopedia often lack academic credentials, thereby making their contributioins partially informed at best and downright inaccurate in many cases. Traditional encyclopedias are written by trained experts who adhere to standards of academic rigor that nonspecialists cannot really achieve.- Sub point 1:最初创建的时候可能不准确- Sub point 2:即使初始是准确的,也可能会被篡改- Sub point 3:对于琐碎流行的内容关注过多在听力部分,我们可以预测到的就是这三个缺点都是不存在的。

ReadingCommunal online encyclopedias represent one of the latest resources to be found on the Internet. They are in many respects like traditional printed encyclopedias collections of articles on various subjects. What is specific to these online encyclopedias, however, is that any Internet user can contribute a new article or make an editorial change in an existing one. As a result, the encyclopedia is authored by the whole community of Internet users. The idea might sound attractive, but the communal online encyclopedias have several important problems that make them much less valuable than traditional, printed encyclopedias.First, contributors to a communal online encyclopedia often lack academic credentials, thereby making their contributions partially informed at best and downright inaccurate in many cases. Traditional encyclopedias are written by trained experts who adhere to standards of academic rigor that nonspecialists cannot really achieve.Second, even if the original entry in the online encyclopedia is correct, the communal nature of these online encyclopedias gives unscrupulous users and vandals or hackers the opportunity to fabricate, delete, and corrupt information in the encyclopedia. Once changes have been made to the original text, an unsuspecting user cannot tell the entry has been tampered with. None of this is possible with a traditional encyclopedia.Third, the communal encyclopedias focus too frequently, and in too great a depth, on trivial and popular topics, which creates a false impression of what is important and what is not. A child doing research for a school project may discover that a major historical event receives as much attention in an online encyclopedia as, say, a single long-running television program. The traditional encyclopedia provides a considered view of what topics to include or exclude and contains a sense of proportion that online "democratic" communal encyclopedias do not.ListeningProfessor: The communal online encyclopedia wil! probably never be perfect, but that's a small price to pay for what it does offer. The criticisms in the reading are largely the result of prejudice against and ignorance about how far online encyclopedias have come.First, errors. It's hardly a fair criticism that encyclopedias online have errors. Traditional encyclopedias have never been close to perfectly accurate, if you are looking for a realty comprehensive reference work without any mistakes, you are not going to find it, on or off line. The real point is that it's easy for errors in factual material to be corrected in an online encyclopedia But with the printed and bound encyclopedia, the errors remain for decades.Second, hacking. Online encyclopedias have recognized the importance of protecting their articles from malicious hackers. One strategy they started using is to put the crucial facts in the articles that nobody disputes in a read-only format, which is a format that no one can make changes to. That way you are making sure that the crucial facts in the articles are reliable. Another strategy that's being used is to have special editors whose job is to monitor all changes made to the articles and eliminatethose changes that are clearly malicious.Third, what's worth knowing about? The problem for traditional encyclopedias is that they have limited space, so they have to decide what's important and what's not. And in practice, the judgments of the group of academics that make these decfsions don't reflect the great range of interests that people really have. But space is definitely not an issue for online encyclopedias. The academic articles are stiii represented in online encyclopedias, but there can be a great variety of articles and topics that accurately reflect the great diversity of users' interests. The diversity of use in topics that online encyclopedias offer is one of their strongest advantages.TPO6范文:The lecturer addresses each of the three criticisms of communal online encyclopedias mentioned in the reading passage. The lecturer admits that communal online encyclopedias, like any reference book, may contain errors, but she claims that these errors can be corrected much more easily and quickly than those printed in a paper encyclopedia. The reading passage, in contrast, points to the inaccuracy of information in online encyclopedias, presenting the argument that errors in these resources are due to lack of professional knowledge among contributors. The lecturer then gives two strategies that have been proven very effective in protecting online encyclopedias from malicious alteration. She explains that contents that consist of indisputable facts are stored and presented in a read-only format so that nobody can make changes to them. In addition, she says, there are specialists who constantly monitor contents online so that they can quickly remove a suspicious change once it is detected. The lecturer also challenges the final point in the reading regarding the nature of topics covered in online encyclopedias. She says that because of virtually unlimited space on the Internet, there is no need to worry about what is important enough for inclusion in an online encyclopedia. Moreover, the greater variety of topics in online encyclopedias more truly reflects the genuine interests of the general public, even if some of these topics are less serious oracademic than those in traditional encyclopedias. The lecturer addresses each of the three criticisms of ________________ mentioned in the reading passage.
【1】When faced with the decision of saving your money for some timein the future or enjoying your money when you earn it, quite a few would claim to enjoy their money, but others, in contrast, deem to save their money as the premier choice and that is also my point. This quite different view is based on the every possible reason.Fore most reason for saving the money for future use is when you need a lot of money to deal with some emergent things that happen to you, you should not worry about the fund or lend some money everywhere atthat time. For example, two years ago, I spend my summer holiday in a famous scenery pot, after a wonderful trip of the first day, I lost my wallet unconsciously, then I took out some money in the bank to finish the trip. If you did not have some deposit, you can imagine how embarrassed you are.Second, I have finished my college study, and I am going to go abroad to get a master degree to enhance the ability to face the challenge in the society. Plenty of money is very important to me, so I have to save all the money that I economized for future use.Third, the economy condition of my family is not so good that I decide to earn enough money to buy a big house for my deeply loving parents. This is arbitrary to judge saving money for future use according only to the excuse I mentioned in the above paragraph. But I do not deny that enjoying the life is also important to everyone because of brief life. That is to say, I will enjoy my money if I deposit enough. 【2】New findings in scientific areas can examine and challengeprevious assumptions. A recent finding concerning the meerkat,a burrow-dwelling animal in the African grasslands, has castdoubt upon theconventional ideas of altruism, the type ofbehavior in which an animal sacrifices its own interests for thebenefit of another.Meerkats were previously thought to be a typical altruisticanimal. When the other meerkats feed, there is usually one meerkat watching out for predators. The sentinel meerkat gains nothing, it seems, for it can neither eat nor escape quickly andsuccessfullyafter raising an alarm. However, in the new findings, it's shown that the sentinel meerkat has already eaten food beforestanding guard, thus contradicting the thought that it has an empty belly while on the lookout. Inaddition to this, the sentinel is the first to see a predator, so it is the first to escape. It is also placednearest a burrow, making it relatively easier to flee. Moreover, its alarm calls may cause the groupeither to gather or to spread rapidly, which may attract the predator's attention, providing thesentinel a better chance to escape. The same is with supposed human altruistic behavior. Organ donation to strangers may beconsidered an unselfish act, which provides little reward to the donator. However, by donating hisorgan, the donator may most probably receive praise and appreciation from others. Isn'tthis non-material reward, which increases one's self worth, satisfactory to anyone? 【3】Are our kids becoming lazier and less creative, less imaginable than before as a consequence of highly advanced technology? My answer is no, and just the opposite, technology has apparently assisted our kids to become more creative.First and foremost, technology has provided children with easy access to scientific and liberal art resources which is their best source of inspiration. For example, children could now easily gain access to academic databases through iPad screen, read classical works on Kindle, or watch historic documents on Internet. These great works are essentially helpful to arousing their curiosity and prepares them with key knowledge necessary for any creation. However, these wonderful equipments and facilities are never as handy in the past, when kids could only reach limited resources in public libraries or schools. Inthis sense, technology has provided the possibility for children to be more creative.Second, technology has equipped children with professional apparatus which could finally realize their imagination. This takes form particularly as computer softwares and applications, such as Photoshop for creative graphic design, Overture for easily composing a piece of music, 3DMax for building up a virtual world, etc.. All the software were never as handy as they are at present, and this would absolutely provides our children an effective tool for realizing their creativity.Third, technology itself is a market place where creative ideas are economically encouraged. As along as we keep a balanced mood on children enjoying thefruit of technology, they are sure to contribute more to innovation than in the past. 【4】There are advantages and disadvantages to a childhood in either the country or a city. It's hard to say which is better. Growing up in the country means a certain amount of isolation. You're in a small town or on a armband not with a lot of people. Even more important, the people you meet everyday tend to be just like you. Most will be the same race as you, have the same background as you, and will have gone to the same school as you. In the city, the people you meet are different. There are different races and different cultures. You get a more interesting mix.City people tend to come from a lot of different places and move around a lot. So, there isn't the sense of community in the city that you have in the country. People in the city can live in the same apartment building for twenty years and never get to know their neighbors. In the country, everybody knows everybody. For a child, this means the country is more secure. A child can get lost or hurt in the city and have no one to turn to. In the country, everyone’s a neighbor. People in the country feel connected to each other.A child growing up in the city has the advantages of a lot of interesting and exciting place to visit. He or she can go to the zoo, museum, art galleries and concerts. There are a lot of restaurants with different kinds of food. It’s easy to see every new movie that comes out. Child in the country don't have a lot of these activities nearby. All in all, I think a childhood in the city is better because it prepares you more for what real life is like.。
Summarize the points made in the lecture you just heard, explaining how they cast doubt on point made in the reading.

During our graduation we were each called up one at a time to the stage. We each received our diploma and everyone applauded our hard work. Furthermore, they are the symbols of Chinese traditional and rich culture. Last, they are standing there to make us understand our past. When we are facing the past, what we must do is to absorb the essence discard the dregs. When it comes to the most efficient transportation, I would to say it is the inter-city train. The reasons why I hold that are based on the following aspects. First of all, unlike automobile, inter-city train never costs too much oil so that it won’t cause heavy air pollution to the city. Besides, it is faster than driving a car since there will be no traffic jam at all, with the time saved, we can have a nice breakfast and even feel fresh after we arrive at our office every morning. And since there is no traffic jam, it will decrease the accidents and numbers of people’s dying from the car crash. A friend with responsibility can make others feel certain and confident. This story is written by Ernest Hemingway, a famous American novelist. I have two reasons. Firstly, this book gives me a deep impression especially description of the fisherman’s spirit.
(A well-developed paragraph is “a composition in miniature” or good paragraphs are really good essays written small.)
Knowing how to find a good place and learning how to budget time are important for college students. 比较下面两个主题句: (5) Elder people are efficient. (6) Compared with many un-experienced young people, most experienced elders can work more efficiently. (7) Most successful movies have a few qualities in common. (8) College graduates can look for a job in several different ways. (9 )Society is trying many different approaches to discourage people from smoking.

Model: Movie Movies about romance are no longer appealing to young people. Trip Video games Modern technology 参考答案 (1) Trip by air can be very fascinating. (2) Video games help develop one’s mental ability. (3) The development of modern technology in recent years causes much concern.
Topic sentence (thesis) Supporting sentence I Supporting sentence II Supporting sentence III Concluding sentence (restatement of thesis)
A well-conceived and well-constructed paragraph is a unit, and often this unity is indicated by a key sentence------what is called the topic sentence. The topic sentence states the central thought, which the rest of the paragraph develops. We can think of the topic sentence as a kind of backbone, a spine, which supports the body of the paragraph and around which the rest of the structure is formed.
(1 )When I work in daytime, other people are also working, so I can work more efficiently. (2 )Outside environment during daytime helps to promote efficiency in many ways.

Sample Good manners are important in all countries, but ways of expressing good manners are different from country to country. Americans eat with knives and forks; Japanese eat with chopsticks. Americans say “Hi” when they meet; Japanese bow. Many American men open doors for women; Japanese men do not. On the surface, it appears that good manners in America are not good manners in Japan, and in a way this is true. But in any country, the only manners that are important are those involving one person’s behavior towards another person. In all countries it is good manners to behave considerately toward others and bad manners not to. It is only the way of behaving politely that differs from country to country.
. First, teaching is learning. To make lectures more stimulating, I have to read more books and explore more knowledge. Second, teaching means freedom and independence. As a teacher, I’m free to express my own ideas in class. Third, I like teaching because I find dealing with young students an enjoyable thing. . Chinese students are mostly only child in the family, and their demands are normally accommodated whatever they are. They take it for granted that their parents can buy anything they want. But now in doing part-time jobs, they come to realize how hard it is to earn money. This helps them form a correct viewpoint of life. Three reasons lead me to choose teaching as my future career. Through part-time jobs students can learn the hardship of earning money.
