Punctuation Styles
There are two styles:mixed and open. Pay attention to the difference between them. Letters using mixed punctuation style have a colon after the salutaion and a comma after the complimentray close. Letters using open punctuation style do not have a colon after the salutation and a comma after the complimentary close. e.g. Dear Mr. Emerson: Dear Mr. Emerson Sincerely, Sincerely P.S. Some business writers use comma after both salutation and the complimentary close. This style is not used much in formal business writing.

Basic Patterns of Business Writing
Business messages can be organised either deductively(演绎法) direct order or inductively(归纳法)indirect order, depending on your prediction of the receiver’s reaction to your main idea. When you are going to send good-news and routine messages, deductive approach( direct order) should be adopted. How to Write a Sales Letter
4.To encourage action This means confidently asking for the audience’s cooperation and specifying actions to be taken by the audience. As a writer, you must persuade your reader to take the action—to visit your company, to receive your representatives, to place an order, or click your website on the Internet. Notice the use of the imperative sentences with the verbs ―call‖, ―ask‖, ―speak‖, ―start‖ and ―send‖. The short, forceful verbs literally urge the reader to take immediate action.
