It was somewhere between spring and summer my mom and I were driving through the countryside Back then I was 13 years old and always felt unhappy with Mom. But little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.A pot of flowers sat in the back seat, whose heavenly scent filled the car.Suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, my mom pulled over.“What are you doing?”I cried, fearing that the car had broken down and we’d be stuck there, so far from home. But that wasn’t the case. My mom hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat.“It’ll just be a minute,”she called back through the open windows. My eyes impatiently skimmed the edge of the road before settling on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed, as my mom reappeared—empty-handed.Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask,“Do you know someone there?”She shook her head.“Then what did you do with the flowers?”She smiled slightly,“I gave them to the receptionist(前台接待员).”“What?”She laughed at my confusion.“I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn’t gotten any in a while.”I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving, I spoke again,“Did you leave your name?”To this she answered instantly,“No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enough of a thank for me. ”Suddenly, still thinking about Mom’s deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down!Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn’t know where the garage was. It also seemed impossible to wait for any passer-by, since we had seen so few along the way.

banks he could. But the real world is cruel.A large amount of money was still needed. To Jack,it would mean a great deal of suffering to see his wife die without any help.“I have only one option left,”Jack saidto himself. Then he went to the bank, his workplace, again. For several days,he observed the bank and planned a theft. The next day,he went to work as usual.Everything seemed normal:he joked the clerks and the guards had all gone home. However,at that moment,Jack was in the bathroom, and the guards didn't notice him,of course. When the noises coming from the street were replaced by silence wasn't very good, which allowed Jack to take a lot of money.Several minutes later,Jack left the bank with a heavy bag filled with money. Paragraph 1:After Jack had been gone from the bank for a while, the alarms began to ring.Paragraph he sometimes forgot what he was talking about in the middle of a sentence. His wife had to constantly remind him about his meetings, his classes—even his meals!Once he forgot he had eaten breakfast twice,at home and at school. His wife liked to remind her neighbors,“If John didn't have his head tied on,he would forget that too!”Since Smith was a professor at a well-known university, his forgetfulness was often an embarrassment to him.It wasn't that he was not clever,as some critical people tended to say,but just very, very absentminded. One hot summer day, professor Smith decided to take his children to a seaside town about a threehour train ride away.To make the trip more interesting for his young children,he kept the name of the town a secret. However,by the time they arrived at the station,Smith forgot the name of the town he was planning to visit.Luckily,a friend of his happened to be in the station. He offered to take care of the children while Smith hurried back home to find out where he was going. The professor's wife was surprised to see him again so soon.“Oh,my dear,I forgot the name of the town.”“What? You forgot the name? Maybe one day you will forget my name!NowI'll write the name of that town on a piece of paper, and you put it in your pocket and please, please don't forget where you put it.”Satisfied that she had solved the problem, she sent her husband off again.Ten minutes later she was astonished to see him outside the house for the third time. Paragraph 1:“What is the matter now?”asked his wife.Paragraph 2:Hearing the cry,out rushed their neighbors, trying to find out what had happened.【写作指导】本文属于记叙文类读后续写. 值得注意的是,续写的内容不能一味追求故事的离奇性而忽略文章的逻辑性.【参考范文】“What is the matter now?” asked his wife.“I just can't remember why I come back and where I am supposed to be going on such a hot summer day,”replied the professor. However, the real reason was that he forgot where he had left his children.Sensing something wrong,Mrs Smith didn't believe his words, because whenever he told a lie,he would blink his eyes usually quickly.“Tell me the truth,”ordered his wife.“As you told me,I didn't forget where I put the name of that town, but I forget the station where I left our children!” whispered the professor, his voice trembling.“What a bad memory!” shouted the wife.Hearing the cry,out rushed their neighbors, trying to find out what had happened.A fight between the couple was about to start when the professor's cell phone began to ring. His friend, whose patience had worn thin, phoned to complain. The professor apologized, got into his car and drove away, leaving behind a bunch of people outside the house.Being afraid that he would make matters worse again,Mrs Smith decided to follow him,who then called a taxi.By the time she caught up with her husband, the children were already back home safe and sound.【导学号:85602001】。

It was somewhere between spring and summer my mom and I were driving through the countryside Back then I was 13 years old and always felt unhappy with Mom. But little did I know that this trip was going to be a special one.A pot of flowers sat in the back seat, whose heavenly scent filled the car.Suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, my mom pulled over.“What are you doing?”I cried, feari ng that the car had broken down and we’d be stuck there, so far from home. But that wasn’t the case. My mom hopped out of the car, grabbing the flowers from the back seat.“It’ll just be a minute,”she called back through the open windows. My eyes impatiently skimmed the edge of the road before settling on a little sign showing that it was a nursing home. I looked back to the building, somewhat annoyed, as my mom reappeared—empty-handed.Before she started the car, curiosity drove me to ask,“Do you know someo ne there?”She shook her head.“Then what did you do with the flowers?”She smiled slightly,“I gave them to the receptionist(前台接待员).”“What?”She laughed at my confusion.“I told the receptionist to give the flowers to whoever needed them, especially who hasn’t gotten any in a while.”I kept silent for a moment. Not long after we continued our driving, I spoke again,“Did you leave your name?”T o this she answered instantly,“No. Leaving flowers there for someone who will appreciate them makes me feel good, which is enoughof a thank for me. ”Suddenly, still thinking about Mom’s deeds, I heard something burst loudly. It was our car that broke down!Nothing could be worse, because neither my mom nor I understood how to repair it, and we didn’t know where the garage was.
关键词语短文所画关键词语基本涵盖短文和续写所必须涉及的要素,含人物(jane,tom)、环境(lake, stream,at a distance)、行为动作(walked, climbed)、器物(helicopter, yellow blouse)和情绪(to her great joy)。

I was invited to a cookout on an old friend's farm in western Washington.I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used in many years.A noise at a window caught my attention,so I entered it.It was a hummingbird(蜂鸟),desperately trying to escape. She was covered in spider-webs(蛛网)and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up.With the bird in my cupped hand,I looked around to see how she had gotten in.The broken window glass was the likely answer.I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me.When I opened my hand, the bird did not fly away;she sat looking at me with her bright eyes.I removed the sticky spider-webs that covered her head and wings.Still, she made no attempt to fly.Perhaps she had been struggling against the window too long and was too tired?Or too thirsty? As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move.I stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away.Hovering(悬停),she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight.During the cookout,I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I was departing,my friends walked me to my car.I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center of our group and began hovering. She turned from person to person until she came to me.She again looked directly into my eyes, then let out a squeaking call and was gone. For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said,“She must have come to say goodbye.”P1:A few weeks later,I went to the farm again.P2:I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared.【文章基本要素】背景设定:讲述者受邀参加在华盛顿州西部一个老朋友农场举行的烧烤聚会。

例如,在一试题材料中讲述了一对夫妻在航海过程中救助了一条被人捕获的虎鲸Lucky的故事,续写段落以“At that time,Jimmy was nine hundred meters away out in the sea .”
例如,在A Dime and Flowers的续写过程中,可以列出一些提纲问题,what was in his hand? What did it look like? What was Bobby's reaction on seeing it?
学生一所描述的“He slowly stopped and turned around. The young man said, with a hint of hesitation,"Actually,I am the bank thief.I could have escaped from the loud noise of an alarm and continued my life."”描述了小偷被绳之以法而结束,学生二所描述的“The young man came to police in hurry. Breathless as he was,he steadily told the truth. The robbery in the bank wasn′t caused by Arthur.”
例如在对于快速的表达来说,“as fast as a fish”与“rapidly”两种的表达就是截然不同的效果。
