Did you know that action verbs show what someone or something is doing, while linking verbs connect the subject to a word that renames or describes it? Super cool, right? We also talked about pronouns and how they take the place of nouns in a sentence. For example, instead of saying "Mary went to the store," you could say "She went to the store." Pronouns make sentences sound smoother and less repetitive.Another fun topic we covered was adjectives and adverbs. Adjectives describe nouns and pronouns, while adverbs describe verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. They make our writing more colorful and interesting to read. And let's not forget about prepositions and conjunctions! Prepositions show the relationship between a noun or pronoun and other words in a sentence, while conjunctions join words, phrases, or clauses together. They help make our writing more cohesive and easy to understand.Overall, I had a blast learning all these new things in my English class. Today I'm gonna share with you some awesome stuff from my English class. It's all about the best memories we had during our eight-grade school year. So grab your notebooks and let's get started! In our English class, we learned a lot of cool stuff like grammar and vocabulary. We also read some really interesting stories and poems. One of my favorite poems is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. It's all about making choices in life and how they can affect your future. I even memorized some lines from it and recited them in front of the class. Everyone clapped and cheered for me!We also had spelling tests every week. I always made sure to study hard and get a good grade. It was so satisfying to see my name at the top of the spelling leaderboard. I even won a prize once for getting a perfect score! One of the best parts of English class was when we got to do group projects. We had to work together to create a presentation on a famous author or book. My group chose to do ours on J.K. Rowling and the Harry Potter series. We had so much fun researching and putting it all together. Our presentation was a hit with the class, and we even got extra credit for our hard work.Overall, English class was a blast this year. Today, I want to share with you the key points from my English class. We learned a lot of cool stuff, so let's get started!First, we talked about different ways to express opinions in English. We can use phrases like "I think", "In my opinion", "I believe", and "As far as I'm concerned". These phrases are super useful when we want to share our thoughts with others.Next, we learned about the past continuous tense. It's used to talk about actions that were happening at a specific time in the past. We form it by using "was" or "were" plus the present participle of the verb. For example, "I was watching TV when the phone rang."We also discussed the use of adverbs in English. Adverbs are words that describe how, when, or where an action is taking place. They can really make our sentences more interesting and descriptive. Some common adverbs include "quickly", "quietly", and "happily".Finally, we practiced using comparative and superlative adjectives. Comparative adjectives are used to compare two things, while superlative adjectives are used to compare three ormore things. We add "er" or "est" to short adjectives, and use "more" or "most" with longer adjectives. For example, "My cat is faster than yours", or "Mount Everest is the tallest mountain in the world."Overall, it was a super fun and informative class. I can't wait to learn more in our next lesson! See you next time!。

P3 3aBus driver and passengers save an old manAt 9:00 a.m. yesterday, bus No. 26 was going along Zhonghua Road when the driver saw an old man lying on the side of the road. A woman next to him was shouting for help. The bus driver, 24-year-old Wang Ping, stopped the bus without thinking twice. He got off and asked the woman what happened. She said that the man had a heart problem and should go to the hospital Mr.Wang knew he had to act quickly. He told the passengers that he must take the man to the hospital. He expected most or all of the passengers to get off and wait for the next bus. But to his surprise, they all agreed to go with him. Some passengers helped Mr. Wang to move the man on the bus. Thanks to Mr. Wang and the passengers, the doctors saved the man in time. “ It’s sad that many people don’t want to help others because they don’t want any trouble,” says one passenger. “ But the driver didn’t think about himself. He only thought about saving a life.”P14 2bDear Miss Li,I'd like to thank yo u for giving money to “Animal Helpers”,I’m sure you know that this group was set up to help people like me. You helped to make it possible for me to have Lucky. Lucky makes a big difference to my life. Let me tell you my story. What would it be like to be blind or deaf? Or imagine you can’t walk or use your hands easily. Most people would never think about this, but many people have thesedifficulties, I can't use my arms or legs well, so normal things like answering the telephone, opening and closing doors or carrying things are difficult for me. Then one day last year, a friend of mine helped me out. She talked to Animal Helpers about getting me a special trained dog. She also thought a dog might cheer me up. I love animals and I was excited about the idea of having a dog.P22 2bDear Sir,I think it is important for children to learn how to do chores and help their parents with housework. It is not enough to just get good grades at school. Children these days depend on their parents too much. They are al ways asking, “Could you get this for me?” or “Could you help me with that?” Doing chores helps to develop children's independence and teaches them how to look after themselves. It also helps them to understand the idea of fairness. Since they live in one house with their parents, they should know that everyone should do their part in keeping it clean and tidy. Our neighbors’ son got into a good college but during his first year, he had no idea how to take care of himself. As a result, he often fell ill and his grades dropped. The earlier kids learn to be independent, the better it is for their future.Mr. SmithDear Mr. Hunt,My problem is that I can’t get on with my family. Relations between my parents have become difficult. They fight a lot, and I really don't like it. It's the only communication they have. I don't know if I should say anything to them about this. When they argue, it's like a big, black cloud hanging over our home. Also, my elder brother is not very nice to me. He always refuses to let me watch my favorite TV show. Instead he watches whatever he wants until late at night. I don't think this is fair. At home I always feel lonely and nervous. Is that normal? What can I do?Sad and Thirteendear Sad and Thirteen,It's not easy being your age, and it's normal to have these feelings. Why don't you talk about these feelings with your family? If your parents are having problems, you should offer to help. Maybe you could do more jobs around the house so that they have more time for proper communication. Secondly, why don't you sit down and communicate with your brother? You should explain that you don't mind him watching TV all the time. However, he should let you watch your favorite show. I hope things will be better for you soon.Robert HuntThe storm brought people closer together.Ben could hear strong winds outside his home in Alabama.Black clouds were making the sky very dark. With no light outside, it felt like midnight. The news on TV reported that a heavy rainstorm was in the area. Everyone in the neighborhood was busy. Ben’s dad was putting pieces of wood over the windows while his mom was making sure the flashlights and radio were working. She also put some candles and matches in the table. Ben was helping his mom make dinner when the rain began to beat heavily against the windows. After dinner, they tried to play a card game, but it was hard to have fun with a serious storm happening outside. Ben could not sleep at first. He finally fell asleep when the wind was dying down at around 3:00 a.m. When he woke up, the sun was rising. He went outside with his family and found the neighborhood in a mess. Fallen trees, broken windows and rubbish were everywhere. They joined the neighbors to help clean up the neighborhood together. Although the storm broke many things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.。

英语名校课堂八年级下册背记本p22范文b

英语名校课堂八年级下册背记本p22范文b全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Life at Nottingham ElementaryHi there! My name is Emily and I'm a 4th grader at Nottingham Elementary School in Nottingham, England. I've been going to this school since kindergarten and I absolutely love it here! Let me tell you all about my daily life and what it's like being a student at Nottingham Elementary.I wake up pretty early, around 6:30am, because school starts at 8:15am. My mum makes me a nice breakfast, usually toast with jam or porridge with honey. Then I get dressed in my school uniform - a white shirt, gray jumper, gray skirt, and black shoes. The uniform isn't my favorite outfit but it helps us all look neat and ready to learn.I live about a 10 minute walk from the school so I head out around 8am. I love walking to school and watching the town wake up. The bakers are bringing out fresh loaves of bread, the newsagents are setting up their stands, and people are hurryingoff to work. Nottingham is such a lively, historic city with beautiful old buildings everywhere you look. When I get to school, I join my classmates in the courtyard until the bell rings at 8:15am. Then we all line up by class and a teacher leads us inside to our classroom. The first lesson of the day is usually literacy or numeracy. In literacy, we work on reading comprehension, writing stories or essays, and learning about grammar and punctuation. Numeracy is all about math - times tables, fractions, word problems, that sort of thing. At 10:30am we get a break and some play time in the schoolyard. You can never underestimate how important it is for kids to run around and let off some energy! My friends and I love skipping rope, playing hide and seek, or just running up and down the yard chasing each other. When the bell rings at 11am, we head back inside for our next lessons. We have something different every day - science, history, geography, art, music, P.E. Science is one of my favorites because we get to do experiments and learn about how things work. In history, we study events from long ago like the Romans, Saxons, and Vikings invading Britain. I find it all fascinating! Geography teaches us about different countries, cultures, climates and terrains around the world. For art, we work on projects likepainting, drawing, sculpting with clay. And in music we learn to read notes, sing songs, and even play the recorder. At 12pm it's lunchtime and I eat the packed lunch my mum prepares for me - usually a sandwich, an apple or banana, a box of raisins, and a bottle of water. In nice weather we can eat our lunches outside on the lawn. After lunch there's more play time until 1:15pm. Sometimes I'll bring my skipping rope and jump rope with my friends, other days we'll play games like What Time is it Mr. Wolf? Or we just run around being silly until we're called back inside. The afternoon lessons are usually another literacy or numeracy period followed by an enrichment subject like French, computing, drama or philosophy. I'm trying to learn French because my aunts and uncles live in France and I want to be able to speak to my cousins in their language. In computing we practice typing skills and learn to use programs like PowerPoint and Excel. Drama is really fun - we get to perform little plays and skits on a stage. Philosophy for Kids is a neat class where we discuss big questions about life, morals, and how to be good people.By 3:30pm, I'm starting to feel a bit tired from a full day of learning and fun. We have one last period before heading homefor the day. Once classes end at 4pm, some kids stay forafter-school activities like art club, football (soccer), cricket, or get extra help with homework from teachers.I usually walk home with a couple friends who live nearby. We like to stop at the park and play for a little while before going our separate ways. At home, I have a snack while I start my homework. I'll work on it until dinner time, then help my mum set the table. After dinner, I'll finish any remaining homework, take a bath, and get ready for bed around 8:30pm so I'mwell-rested for another fun day at school!Overall, I feel so lucky to attend Nottingham Elementary. The teachers are caring and make lessons interesting. I'm learning so much about academics, arts, and different cultures. And I've made so many wonderful friends that I'll have memories with forever. These really are the best days of my childhood. I look forward to many more years learning and growing at this fantastic school!篇2My Life as an 8th GraderHey there! My name is Emily, and I'm an 8th-grade student at Oakwood Middle School. Being in the 8th grade is a pretty bigdeal, you know? We're like the cool kids on campus, and all the younger students look up to us. Well, at least that's what we like to think!School days can be a real rollercoaster ride. Some days are just fantastic, while others make me want to hide under my covers and never come out. But I guess that's just part of being a teenager, right? Hormones, mood swings, and all that jazz!Let me give you a glimpse into a typical day in my life. The alarm goes off at 6:30 a.m., and I hit the snooze button at least three times before finally dragging myself out of bed. I can never seem to get enough sleep, no matter how early I go to bed. After a quick shower and a hurried breakfast, I'm out the door and on my way to school. The first few classes of the day are always the toughest. I'm not a morning person, so trying to stay awake and focused during Math and Science is a real struggle. But once I've had a chance to fully wake up, things start looking up.Lunchtime is definitely the highlight of my day. It's not just about the food (although the cafeteria pizza is pretty darn good); it's about hanging out with my friends and catching up on all the latest gossip. We have our own little table in the corner of the cafeteria, and it's like our own little kingdom. After lunch, the afternoon classes seem to fly by. English is my favorite subject, and I always look forward to our lively discussions and writing assignments. History can be a bit of a snooze-fest, but at least our teacher tries to make it interesting by showing us old movies and documentaries.Once the final bell rings, it's time for after-school activities. I'm on the volleyball team, so most afternoons are spent at practice or games. It's a lot of hard work, but I love the thrill of competition and the camaraderie with my teammates.By the time I get home in the evening, I'm usually exhausted. But there's still homework to be done and chores to tackle. My parents are pretty strict about making sure I keep up with my responsibilities, so I have to power through, even when I'd rather just veg out in front of the TV.Weekends are a welcome break from the daily grind. I try to catch up on sleep, hang out with friends, and maybe even get a head start on some of my homework assignments. Of course, there's always time for a little fun, too. Whether it's going to the movies, hitting the mall, or just lounging around playing video games, weekends are all about recharging my batteries before another busy week begins.Being an 8th grader is no walk in the park, but I wouldn't trade these years for anything. Sure, there are ups and downs, but that's all part of the journey. I'm learning so much, not just academically but also about myself and what I want out of life.Who knows what the future holds? High school is just around the corner, and after that, it'll be time to start thinking about college and careers. For now, though, I'm just trying to savor every moment and make the most of my time as an8th-grade student. It's a crazy, hectic, and sometimes overwhelming experience, but it's also incredibly rewarding. I've made some amazing friends, discovered new passions, and learned valuable lessons about responsibility, time management, and pushing myself to be the best I can be.So, to all my fellow 8th graders out there, keep your heads held high and embrace this incredible journey we're on. It's not always easy, but it's definitely worth it. And who knows? Maybe one day, we'll look back on these years and realize they were some of the best times of our lives.篇3My Dream Summer VacationSchool's finally out for the summer! I'm so excited, I can hardly stand it. This year, instead of just hanging around the neighborhood like usual, my family and I are going on a big vacation. We're taking a road trip across the country to see some of the most amazing sights and do all sorts of fun activities. I've been looking forward to this trip for months! Our first stop is going to be the Grand Canyon in Arizona. I've seen pictures of it in books and on TV, but I can't even imagine how incredible it will be to see those massive rocky cliffs and that huge canyon with my own eyes. Mom says we're going to take a hiking tour down into the canyon itself. I'm a little nervous about that since it's supposed to be a pretty tough hike, but I know it will be worth it for the amazing views. Plus, we're packing lots of snacks and water to keep our energy up.After the Grand Canyon, we're driving over to California to spend a few days in Los Angeles. I'm probably most excited about this part because we're going to go to Disneyland! I've wanted to visit Disneyland ever since I was a little kid watching Disney movies. Walking down Main Street USA, riding the Matterhorn Bobsleds, and meeting Mickey Mouse himself is going to be a dream come true. We're also going to UniversalStudios to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, which should be awesome for a huge Harry Potter nerd like me.While we're in LA, we might try to do somecelebrity-spotting too. My friend Janie's cousin got to meet the entire cast of her favorite TV show when they were filming on location in Los Angeles last year. How cool would it be if I could get a selfie with my favorite actor or singer? I'm definitely keeping my eyes peeled the whole time we're there, just in case. From California, we're heading up the Pacific coast into Oregon. I've never actually seen the Pacific Ocean before, so I can't wait to put my feet in the water and feel the waves crashing onto the beach. We're going to be camping at a few different places along the Oregon coast for a couple of nights. Camping is one of my favorite things ever - I love falling asleep in a tent listening to the sounds of nature all around me. We always make s'mores around the campfire too, which is the best treat. Our last big stop on the trip is going to be in Seattle, to visit some of my dad's family who live up there. I'm really excited because my cousin Dylan, who's just a year older than me, is going to be our tour guide around the city. He's promised to take us to all the coolest spots that kid visitors wouldn't normally get to see. I think we're going to do some hiking, check out themusic scene, and maybe even go whitewater rafting if my parents are up for a bigger adventure. On the way back home, we're going to drive through some of the national parks in Utah and Colorado so we can do more camping and hiking. Honestly, those couple of weeks might end up being my favorite part of the whole trip. There's just something so peaceful and refreshing about being out in the wilderness, surrounded by beautiful landscapes. We always come back from camping trips feeling totally recharged. This summer road trip is sure to be filled with so many incredible memories that I'll never forget. I feel incredibly lucky that my parents could make this happen for us. Most of my friends are just sticking around our hometown over the summer, but I'll get to see and do things that most kids only dream about. Part of me is a little nervous about being away from home for that long, but I know it's going to be the adventure of a lifetime. I can't wait to get on the road and start exploring!篇4My Incredible Summer AdventureIt was the first day of summer vacation after finishing 7th grade, and I was so excited for the big adventure my family hadplanned. We were going on a road trip to explore some of the most amazing national parks in the western United States! My little sister Sarah and I could hardly contain our enthusiasm as we loaded up our car with plenty of snacks, games, books, and all the gear we'd need for camping and hiking. Our first stop was the Grand Canyon in Arizona. When we arrived and I got my first glimpse of that vast, colorful chasm carved into the earth's surface, I was awestruck. The Grand Canyon is seriously GRAND! We stayed for a few days, going on some fun hikes along the rim trails to different viewpoints. One morning we even took a guided mule ride part way into the canyon itself. That was a cool but kind of scary experience riding those surefooted mules down the steep, rocky trails. The views from inside the canyon were breathtaking though. After the Grand Canyon, we drove north into Utah to visit two other iconic parks - Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Bryce was my favorite because of the crazy cool hoodoo rock formations. For miles and miles we could see those bright red and orange spires, pinnacles, and other odd shapes protruding from the ground. It was like a strange, alien landscape that seemed too incredible to be real! We went on a couple hikingtrails to be able to walk among and around the hoodoos, and it felt like we were exploring another planet.Zion was brilliant too, with those massive sandstone cliffs and rock towers in warm shades of red, pink, and white. Just driving through the main canyon area was a tremendous sight, with the road twisting between those towering rock walls on both sides. The Emerald Pools hike was one of the highlights in Zion, taking us to some beautiful waterfalls and pools with bright green plant life surrounding them. On another day hike, we followed a trail up through a narrow slot canyon with sunlight just barely peeking through from above. That felt like something out of an adventure movie! Our last few days were spent in Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. This place is like a whole different world with its famous geysers and hot springs. We were lucky to be there during one of Old Faithful's eruptions and watched in awe as that legendary geyser blasted a huge column of steaming hot water over 100 feet into the air! The colorful Grand Prismatic Spring was another standout with its vivid rings of bright yellows, oranges, greens and blues caused by different types of bacteria. So much of Yellowstone's landscape was surreal with thosebubbling mud pots, steaming pools, and the really strong smell of sulfur everywhere. On our final day in the park, our family went on an early morning wildlife watching drive and we hit the jackpot! First we spotted a massive bull bison grazing right next to the road. Then around the next bend, there were two grizzly bears munching on grasses across a valley. A bit farther up, we watched a coyote trotting along before it saw us and took off in the other direction. The big wildlife sighting of the day though was an entire wolf pack - two adults and three pups frolicking together. We felt incredibly lucky to see such an awesome array of Yellowstone's famous animal residents in just one morning. This trip through the national parks of the west was undoubtedly the most epic, mind-blowing adventure of my life so far. The sheer size and scale of places like the Grand Canyon were impossible to fully comprehend. And the unique, alien-like landscapes of parks like Bryce Canyon or areas of Yellowstone made me feel like I was exploring another world entirely. I'm so grateful my parents made this journey happen for our family. The memories and sights from this trip will stick with me forever. If any of my friends or classmates ever get the chance to visit thesemagnificent parks, I'll highly encourage them to go. It was an experience of a lifetime!篇5My Summer Vacation AdventureSchool was finally out for the summer and I couldn't wait to enjoy my freedom! No more homework, no more tests, no more waking up early for months. This summer was going to be epic! The first week was pretty chill. I just hung out with my friends, played video games, and slept in late. But then my mom dropped a bombshell - we were going on a family camping trip! At first, I was like "No way, that's so lame!" But she insisted it would be fun and a great opportunity to get outdoors. So we packed up the car with ALL our gear - tents, sleeping bags, camping stoves, lanterns, you name it. The drive took forever but we finally arrived at Redwood National Park. I have to admit, those giant redwood trees were pretty awesome! They were taller than skyscrapers.Setting up camp was kind of a hassle but we all pitched in. Dad struggled a bit with the tent but eventually we got itstanding upright. That first night under the stars was actually amazing. You could see so many more stars than back in the city! The next morning, we went on a hike through the forest. Despite my complaints, it was incredible being surrounded by those massive redwood trunks towering above us. We saw woodpeckers, squirrels, and even a family of deer! After the hike, we had a cooking competition to see who could make the best campfire meals. Mom's veggie skewers were pretty good but my s'mores totally won - you can't beat a classic! That night, we told spooky stories around the campfire. A few of them really freaked me out but I tried to act tough. The second day, we went exploring near the creek. We caught tiny fish and crawdads with our bare hands! So much fun.I also tried skipping rocks and managed to get one to jump eight times across the water. New personal record!Just when I was starting to really enjoy "roughing it", disaster struck. A huge thunderstorm rolled in and we were caught outside the tent. Within minutes, we were soaked to the bone from the heavy rain. We had to pack up camp in a frenzy, getting everything muddy in the process. What a mess! The drive home was long and tiresome. I was bummed that our trip got cut short by the storm. But looking back, I realized I had an amazing time. Being outdoors, disconnected from technology and the modern world, brought my family closer together. I got to experience nature in a way I never could back in the city. It was refreshing and recharging. When we finally made it home, I crashed hard and slept like a bear in hibernation. That first hot shower in days felt like heaven. As sad as I was for the trip to end, I also felt reinvigorated, with a fresh perspective. Maybe nature and camping aren't so bad after all!Now I'm actually looking forward to our next family adventure. Mom and Dad are talking about maybe renting a cabin by a lake after camp ends. Whichever way, I'm just grateful I got to spend quality time with my parents before high school starts. These are the core memories I'll look back on when I'm older. Camping may be exhausting, messy, and uncomfortable at times, but it's also enriching, exciting, and creates stories worth remembering forever. Bring on the next trip!篇6My Unforgettable Summer AdventureLast summer was definitely one I'll never forget! It was the summer before starting 8th grade, and my parents surprised me with a trip to a summer camp in the mountains. I was really excited but also a little nervous since I had never been away from home without my family before. The camp was called Camp Wilderness and it was located up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. My parents dropped me off and I remember feeling a lump in my throat as they drove away, leaving me there with my duffel bag and sleeping bag. But the camp counselors were really friendly and helped me get settled into my cabin with five other boys around my age.The first few days were kind of awkward as we all got to know each other. There were kids from all over the country –Texas, California, New York, you name it. I was one of the only ones from my state. But after some ice breakers and team building activities, we started to become friends. We had to work together to set up our tents, gather firewood, cook meals over the campfire, and things like that. It was totally different from my regular life at home where everything is just so easy. One of the highlights was definitely the hiking trips into the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Our counselors were really experienced and taught us all about the plants, animals, andgeology of the area. We saw elk, marmots, hawks, and even a black bear from a safe distance! The views from the top of the mountain peaks were just breathtaking. You could see for miles and miles in every direction.Another cool thing was the whitewater rafting trip down a rushing river. We had to learn all the safety techniques and paddle as a team to navigate the rapids. A couple of people fell in and got completely soaked, but it was all just part of the fun! I was definitely scared at first, but afterward I felt like I could conquer anything.Evenings at the camp were fun too. We had talent shows around the campfire where people would sing, tell jokes and stories, or show off magic tricks. I'm pretty shy usually, but I even got up and did a stupid human tricks comedy routine that had everyone cracking up. We roasted s'mores and looked at the incredible star-filled sky, with the Milky Way shining brighter than I had ever seen before without all the city lights. As the weeks went on, I could feel myself becoming more confident, independent, and resilient. We learned survival skills like purifying water, building shelters, tying knots and navigating with a compass and map. I pushed myself further than I everthought I could, hiking miles and miles each day with a heavy backpack.By the end, I was definitely tired and ready for a break, but I also felt sad to leave Camp Wilderness and all my new friends behind. We exchanged addresses and usernames to keep in touch. On the long drive home, I thought a lot about how much I had grown and changed over those few weeks. I felt like a different person – more mature, capable, and ready to take on the world (or at least 8th grade!).So while I missed home and my family, that summer at Camp Wilderness will always be one of my most memorable andlife-changing experiences. I came back with a profound appreciation for nature, some amazing lifelong friends, and the confidence to take on any new challenge. I'm so grateful my parents gave me that opportunity to spread my wings a little and discover my true potential. Now I just can't wait for my next great adventure!。

八年级上英语U6-10背诵课文文档

8上必背篇目Unit 6 I am going to study computer science.P45/2B1.Do you know what a resolution is ? It’s a kind of promise. Most of the time, we make promises to other people.(“Mom,I promise I’m going to tidy my room when I get back from school.”) However, promises you make to yourself are resolutions, and the most common kind is New Year’s resolutions. When we make resolutions at the beginning of the year, we hope that we are going to improve our lives. Some people write down their resolutions and plans for the coming year. This helps them to remember their resolutions. Others tell their family and friends about their wishes and plans.2. There are different kinds of resolutions. Some are about physical health. For example, some people promise themselves they are going to start an exercise program or eat less fast food. Many resolutions have to do with self-improvement. Some people might say they are going to take up a hobby like painting or taking photos, or learn to play the guitar. Some resolutions have to do with better planning, like making a weekly plan for schoolwork.3.Although there are differences, most resolutions have one thing in common. People hardly ever keep them! Sometimes the resolutions may be too difficult to keep. Sometimes people just forget about them. For this reason, some people say the best resolution is to have no resolutions! How about you – will you make any next year?还原句子A.These are about making yourself a better person.B.For example, a student may have to find more time to study.C.There are good reasons for this.D.The start of the year is often a time for making resolutions.P47/3AResolutions _____________ promises to yourself. They may ____________ to make you a better person and to make your life easier. I am going to ____________ four resolutions. The first resolution is about my own personal improvement. Next year, or maybe sooner, I am going to ____________ up a new hobby. I think singing _____________ a great activity so I am going to ____________ to sing. I think this will also make my family happy because they love to _____________ to music and sing together.U7-2bDo You ThinkYou Will Have Your Own Robot?1. When we watch movies about the future, we sometimes see robots. Theyare usually like human servants. They help with the housework and do jobs like working in dirty or dangerous places.2.Today there are already robots working in factories. Some can help to build cars, and they do simple jobs over and over again. Fewer people will do such jobs in the future because they are boring, but robots will never get bored.3. Scientists are now trying to make robots look like humans and do the same things as we do. Some robots in Japan can walk and dance. They are fun to watch. However, somescientists believe that although we can make robots move like people, it will be difficult to make them really think like a human. For example, scientist James White thinks that robots will never be able to wake up and knowwhere they are. But many scientists disagree with Mr. White. They think that robots will even be able to talk like humans in 25 to 50 years.4. Some scientists believe that there will be more robots in the future. However, they agree it may take(花费) hundreds of years. These new robots will have many different shapes. Some will look like humans, and others might look like animals. In India, for example, scientists made robots thatlook like snakes. If buildings fall down with people inside, these snake robots can helplook for people under the buildings. This was not possible 20 years ago, but computers and rockets also seemed impossible 100 years ago. We never know what will happen in the future!U7-2d.Some robots are very human-like. They can walk and dance like people. Some scientists think that in the future they will make robots more like humans. This may not possible in the near future, but at some point, robots will even be able to talk like people. However, some scientists disagree.James White believes that robots will not be able to do the same things as we can. For example, he thinks that robots will never be able to wake up and know where they are. Which side do you agree with?U7-3aIn 20 years,Ithink I`ll be a newspaper reporter.I`ll live in Shanghai, because there will be more jobs in that city.As a reporter,Ithink I will meet lots of interesting people,so I’llhave fewerpets, though, because I`ll have less free time. And my apartment will be no good for pets because it’ll be too smal l. So I`ll probably just keep a bird.During the week,I’ll wear smart clothes. On the weekend,I’ll look less smart but I’ll be more comfortable. In the future, people will work moreso they’ll probably have fewer vacations, but I think I’ll take a holiday in HongKong when possible. One day I’ll even go to Australia.U8P61 2BThanksgiving in the United StatesIn most countries, people usually eat traditional food on special holidays. A special day in the United States is Thanksgiving. It is always on the fourth Thursday in November, and is a time to give thanks for food in the autumn. At this time, people also remember the first travelers from England who came to live in America about 400 years ago. These travelers had a long, hard winter, and many of them died. In the next autumn, they gave thanks for life and food in their new home. These days, most Americans still celebrate this idea of giving thanks by having a big meal at home with their family. The main dish of this meal is almost always turkey, a large bird.Making a turkey dinnerHere is one way to make turkey for a Thanksgiving dinner.First, mix together some bread pieces, onions, salt and pepper.Next, fill the turkey with this bread mix. Then, put the turkey in a hot oven and cook it for a few hours. When it is ready, place the turkey on a large plate and cover it with gravy. Finally, cut the turkey into thin pieces and eat the meat with vegetables like carrots andpotatoes.P63 3AYunnan Rice NoodlesIn Yunnan, many people eat rice noodles for breakfast, and even for lunch and dinner. To make this special food, you need to have rice noodles, chicken soup, chicken, lettuce and eggs. (Of course, you can also have other things like fish and different vegetables.) First, cut the lettuce and cut it up. Next, cut the chicken into pieces. Then, make the chicken soup very hot, over 100℃. Then, cook the eggs, meat and lettuce in the pot of hot soup, one by one. Finally, put the rice noodles into the soup. Now, it’s time to enjoy the rice noodles!Unit 9, 2bHi David,What a great idea! I really like Ms. Steen a lot. She helped me to improve my English so much. I’m sad to see her go, and this party is the best way to say “Thank you and goodbye.” I can help to buy some of the food and drinks. I can also help to bring Ms. Steen to the party. I already have a great idea about how to do that.He WeiHi David,Thanks so much for planning this. I’d love to come to the party, but I’m not available. My family is taking a trip to Wuhan at the end of this month to visit my aunt and uncle. However, I’d still be glad to help out with any of the party preparations, like planning the games. Let me know if you need my help.JakeDear classmates,As I’m sure you know by now, our favorite teacher, Ms. Steen, is leaving soon to go back to the US. We’re very sad that she’s leaving because she is a fun teacher. To show how much we’re going to miss her, let’s have a surprise p arty for her next Friday the 28th !Can you come to the party? If so, can you help with any of these things? Please tell me by this Friday.1) Buy food and drinks.2) Think of games to play.3) Prepare things we need for the games( glue, paper, pens,…)4) Bring Ms. Steen to the party without telling her so that she can be surprised.I look forward to hearing from you all.DavidUnit 9, 3aDear Parents,I would like to invite you to the opening of our new library at NO.9 High School. Please reply in writing to this invitation by Friday, December 20th.Larry SmithHeadmasterU10P75 3a;Dear Su Mei,I don’t know what to do about going to Mike’s birthday party tomorrow night. My parents think I should study for my English exam next week. If I go to the party, they will be upset. Mike told us to wear nice clothes, but I don’t have any. If I wear jeans, Iwill look the worst. Also, I’m not sure how to go to the party. If I walk, it will take metoo long. If I take a taxi, it will be too expensive. Can you give me some advice, please?TinaP78 2dStudents often have a lot of problems and worries. Laura Mills thinks the worst thing is to do nothing. She thinks you’ll feel worse if you don’t talk to someone about your problems. Laura remembers that she once lost her wallet and was afraid to tell her parents about it. Now shebelieves you cannot feel better unless you talk to someone. She says she will always share her problems in the future. Robert Hunt agrees with Laura. He thinks you should not run away from your problems, but you should try to solve them. If you cannot talk to an expert like Robert, you can discuss your problems with your parents because they have a lot of experience.。

Unit 2 How often do you exercise?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Jack: Hi, Claire, are you free next week?- Claire: Hmm... next week is quite full for me, Jack.- Jack: Really? How come?- Claire: I have dance and piano lessons.- Jack: What kind of dance are you learning?- Claire: Oh, swing dance. It's fun! I have class once a week, every Monday.- Jack: How often do you have piano lessons?- Claire: Twice a week, on Wednesday and Friday.- Jack: Well, how about Tuesday?- Claire: Oh, I have to play tennis with my friends. But do you want to come?- Jack: Sure!- 2b Read the article and answer the questions.- What Do No. 5 High School Students Do in Their Free Time?- Last month we asked our students about their free - time activities. Our questions were about exercise, use of the Internet and watching TV.Here are the results.- We found that only fifteen percent of our students exercise every day. Forty - five percent exercise four to six times a week. Twenty percent exercise only one to three times a week. And twenty percent do not exercise at all!- We all know that many students often go online, but we were surprised that ninety percent of them use the Internet every day. The other ten percent use it at least three or four times a week. Most students use itfor fun and not for homework.- The answers to our questions about watching TV were also interesting. Only two percent of the students watch TV one to three times a week. Thirteen percent watch TV four to six times a week. And eighty - five percent watch TV every day! Although many students like to watch TV, it's not good for their eyes.3. Unit 3 I'm more outgoing than my sister.- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Julie: Did you like the singing competition yesterday, Anna?- Anna: Oh, it was fantastic! Nelly sang so well!- Julie: Well, I think Lisa sang better than Nelly.- Anna: Oh, which one was Lisa?- Julie: The one with shorter hair. I think she sang more clearly than Nelly.- Anna: Yes, but Nelly danced better than Lisa.- Julie: You can tell that Lisa really wanted to win, though.- Anna: Well, everyone wants to win. But the most important thing is to learn something new and have fun.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- Jeff Green: My mother told me a good friend is like a mirror. I'm quieter and more serious than most kids. That's why I like reading booksand I study harder in class. My best friend Yuan Li is quiet too, so we enjoy studying together. I'm shy so it's not easy for me to make friends. But I think friends are like books - you don't need a lot of them as longas they're good.- Huang Lei: It's not necessary to be the same. My best friend Larry is quite different from me. He is taller and more outgoing than me. We bothlike sports, but he plays tennis better, and he always wins. However, Larry often helps me to bring out the best in me. So I'm getting better at tennis. Larry is much less hard - working, though. I always get better grades than he does, so maybe I should help him more.- Mary Smith: I don't really care if my friends are the same as me or different. My favorite saying is, "A true friend reaches for your hand andtouches your heart." My best friend Carol is really kind and very funny. In fact, she's funnier than anyone I know. I broke my arm last year but she made me laugh and feel better. We can talk about and share everything. I know she cares about me because she's always there to listen.4. Unit 4 What's the best movie theater?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Greg: Hi, I'm Greg. I'm new in town.- Helen: Hi, I'm Helen. Welcome to the neighborhood! How do you like it so far?- Greg: It's fantastic, but I still don't really know my way around.- Helen: Well, the best supermarket is on Center Street. You can buy the freshest food there.- Greg: Oh, great. Is there a cinema around here? I love watching movies.- Helen: Yes, Sun Cinema is the newest one. You can sit the most comfortably because they have the biggest seats.- Greg: Thanks for telling me.- Helen: No problem.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- Everyone is good at something, but some people are truly talented. It's always interesting to watch other people show their talents. Talent shows are getting more and more popular. First, there were shows likeAmerican Idol and America's Got Talent. Now, there are similar shows around the world, such as China's Got Talent.- All these shows have one thing in common: they try to look for the best singers, the most talented dancers, the funniest actors and so on. All kinds of people join these shows. But who can play the piano the best or sing the most beautifully? That's up to you to decide. When people watch the show, they usually play a role in deciding the winner. And the winner always gets a very big prize.- However, not everybody enjoys watching these shows. Some think that the lives of the performers are made up. For example, some people say they are poor farmers, but in fact they are just actors. However, if you don't take these shows too seriously, they are fun to watch. And one great thing about them is that they give people a way to make their dreams come true.5. Unit 5 Do you want to watch a game show?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Grace: What did you do in class today, Sarah?- Sarah: We had a discussion about TV shows. My classmates like game shows and sports shows.- Grace: Oh, I can't stand game shows. I think they're boring.- Sarah: Well, I don't mind game shows. And my classmate Jill loves soap operas.- Grace: Oh, really? I don't like soap operas either. They're so long and most of the time they're just not realistic.- Sarah: That's true. But some people enjoy them. They think they're relaxing.- Grace: I prefer to watch documentaries. I can learn a lot from them.- Sarah: Documentaries are great, but I think comedies are the best. They make me laugh.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- When people say "culture", we think of art and history. But one very famous symbol in American culture is a cartoon. We all know and love Mickey Mouse. He first appeared in Steamboat Willie on November 18, 1933. Mickey was created by Walt Disney. He was a very poor young man who had a dream of creating something new in the world of entertainment. Mickey Mouse became very popular in the 1930s.- Mickey Mouse has two large round ears - one of the most famous symbols in the world. He was so popular that Walt Disney began to create other cartoon characters like Donald Duck and Goofy. People love these characters because they are so cute and funny.- Today's cartoons are usually not so simple as little Mickey Mouse, but everyone still knows and loves him. Who has a pair of ears more famous than Mickey's?6. Unit 6 I'm going to study computer science.- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Ken: What are you reading, Jill?- Jill: It's a book about the future.- Ken: Sounds cool. So what will the future be like?- Jill: Well, cities will be more crowded and polluted. There will be fewer trees and the environment will be in danger.- Ken: That sounds bad! Will we have to move to other planets?- Jill: Maybe. But I want to live on the earth.- Ken: Me too. Then what can we do?- Jill: We can use less water and plant more trees. Everyone shouldplay a part in saving the earth.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- Do you know what a resolution is? It's a kind of promise. Most of the time, we make promises to other people. ("Mom, I promise I'll clean my room when I get back from school.") However, promises you make to yourself are resolutions. The most common ones are New Year's resolutions. When we make New Year's resolutions, we hope that we will improve our lives in some way.- Some people write down their resolutions and plans for the new year. This helps them to remember their resolutions. Others tell their family and friends about their wishes and plans.- There are different kinds of resolutions. Some are about physical health. For example, some people promise themselves they will exercise more or eat less junk food. Others are about self - improvement. They might promise themselves they will take up a new hobby like painting or taking photos. Some resolutions are about better planning. For example, they might promise themselves they will make a study plan or be more organized at work.- Although there are differences, most resolutions have one thing in common: people hardly ever keep them! There are good reasons for this. Sometimes the resolutions are too difficult to keep. For example, if yourresolution is to exercise every day but you are too busy to do it, you will probably break your resolution. Sometimes people just forget about their resolutions. For that reason, it is a good idea to write down your resolutions and have a look at them often.7. Unit 7 Will people have robots?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Nick: What are you reading, Jill?- Jill: A book about the future.- Nick: Sounds cool. So what will the future be like?- Jill: Well, I think there will be more robots in the future.- Nick: Really? What can they do?- Jill: They can do all kinds of housework. For example, they can clean the house, cook meals and even look after children.- Nick: That's great! Then people will have more free time.- Jill: Yeah, but I think there will also be some problems.- Nick: What kind of problems?- Jill: Well, if robots do all the housework, people will become lazy. And there may be fewer jobs for people because robots can do most of the work.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- Do you think you will have your own robot?- In some science fiction movies, people in the future have their own robots. These robots are just like humans. They help with the housework and do the most boring jobs.- Some scientists believe that there will be such robots in the future. However, they also say that it may take hundreds of years. Scientists are now trying to make robots look like humans and do the same things as we do.- Japanese scientists have made a robot called Asimo. It can walk and run like a human. It can also carry things and answer some simple questions. But scientists say that robots like Asimo are still a long way from being able to do things like a human.- Robot scientists are not just trying to make robots look like humans. They are also trying to make robots think like humans. This is a verydifficult task. Some scientists believe that we should make robots for dangerous jobs, like exploring volcanoes or cleaning up nuclear waste. This way, humans will not be in danger.8. Unit 8 How do you make a banana milkshake?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Anna: Sam, I want to make Russian soup for a party on Saturday. Can you tell me how?- Sam: Sure. First, buy some beef, one cabbage, four carrots, three potatoes, five tomatoes and one onion.- Anna: What's next?- Sam: Then, cut up the vegetables.- Anna: OK. What about the beef?- Sam: Cut the beef into small pieces.- Anna: Anything else?- Sam: Next, put the beef, carrots and potatoes into a pot and add some water. After that, cook them for about 30 minutes.- Anna: And then?- Sam: Then add the cabbage, tomatoes and onion and cook for another 10 minutes.- Anna: Sounds easy. Thanks, Sam.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- Thanksgiving in the United States.- In most countries, people usually eat traditional foods on special days. Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks for food in the United States. It is always on the fourth Thursday in November. On this day, families get together and have a big meal.- The main dish of this meal almost always turkey, a large bird. Hereis one way to cook turkey.- First, mix together some bread pieces, onions, salt, pepper and herbs. Stuff this mixture into the turkey. Then, put the turkey in a roasting pan and cook it in the oven at a high temperature for a while. Then, reduce the temperature and cook it for a longer time.- While the turkey is cooking, make the gravy. Gravy is made from the juice of the cooked turkey. Finally, serve the turkey with the gravy.- In addition to turkey, Americans also eat many other traditional foods on Thanksgiving, such as mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie.9. Unit 9 Can you come to my party?- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Jeff: Hey, Nick. Can you come to my house on Saturday? My cousin Sam from Xi'an is going to be here.- Nick: Oh, Sam! I have an exam on Monday so I need to study for it.- Jeff: That's too bad! Oh, well, maybe next time.- Nick: Sure, Jeff. Thanks for asking.- 2b Read the passage and answer the questions.- An Invitation to the Party.- Hi Henry,- I'm having a party this Saturday. I hope you can come.- My house is on Main Street. You can take the No. 2 bus and get off at the third stop. Then walk along the street for about two minutes. You'll see a white house with a red roof. That's my house.- The party will start at 7:00 p.m. We'll have a barbecue and play some games. It'll be fun!- Please let me know if you can come by Friday.- Yours,- Tom.10. Unit 10 If you go to the party, you'll have a great time!- 2d Role - play the conversation.- Ruth: Hi, Mark. I'm having a party this Friday night. Can you come?- Mark: I'm sorry, Ruth.
