英语必修二unit4作文范文带译文In the annals of history, the stories of great achievements are often intertwined with tales of perseverance and unwavering determination. The journey to success is never smooth, yet it is these rough patches that test our resolve and refine our character. This essay explores the essence of perseverance, drawing inspiration from various individuals who have overcome insurmountable obstacles to achieve remarkable feats.Perseverance is the steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. It is the engine that drives us forward when faced with challenges and setbacks. It is the invisible force that turns dreams into reality. Without perseverance, many of the world's greatest achievements would have remained unfulfilled dreams.Consider Thomas Edison, the inventor of the light bulb. He faced numerous failures and setbacks in his quest to create a viable source of lighting. Yet, he never gave up. He persevered, knowing that every failure was a step closer to success. His unwavering determination and relentlesspursuit of his goal eventually led him to invent the light bulb, a feat that revolutionized the world.Similarly, consider the story of Jane Goodall, the renowned primatologist. She faced criticism and skepticism when she chose to study chimpanzees in the wild. However, she persevered, ignoring the doubts and focusing on her research. Her dedication and commitment to her work have yielded groundbreaking insights into chimpanzee behavior and have raised awareness about the importance of conserving our natural world. These individuals did not allow obstacles to deter them from their goals. Instead, they saw each challenge as an opportunity to grow and learn. They persevered, and in doing so, they achieved remarkable success. Moreover, perseverance is not limited to individuals; it extends to nations and communities as well. Consider the story of China, which has made remarkable progress in various fields over the past few decades. This progress is a testament to the perseverance and hard work of the Chinese people, who have overcome numerous challenges and difficulties to achieve their goals. However, perseverance does not mean stubbornly sticking to one path regardless of the circumstances. It also involves adapting to changes and finding new ways to achieve our goals when faced with insurmountable obstacles. This flexibility combined with determination is what truly defines perseverance. In conclusion, perseverance is the key to unlocking our potential and achieving our dreams. It is the driving force that propels us forward when faced with challenges and setbacks. It is the invisible force that turns dreams into reality. Let us draw inspiration from the stories of those who have persevered and achieved remarkable success. Let us persevere in our own journey, knowing that with every step forward, we are moving closer to our goals.**坚持不懈的力量:从挣扎到成功的旅程**在历史的长河中,伟大成就的故事往往与坚持不懈和不屈不挠的决心交织在一起。

There comes a time when the old must give way to the new, and it is not possible to preserve everything from our past as we move towards the future. Finding and keepi ng the right balance between progress and the protection of cultural sites can be a big challenge.如果我们想社会进步,就必须发展经济。

在进步与文化遗址保护之间寻找并保持适当的平衡可能是一个巨大的挑战。

Big challenges, however, can sometimes lead to great solutions. In the 1950s, the Egyptian government wanted to build a new dam across the Nile in order to control floods, produce electricity, and supply water to more farmers in the area. But the proposal led to protests. Water from the dam would likely damage a number of temples and destroy cultural relics that were an important part of Egypt’s cultural heritage. After listening to the scientists who had studied the problem, and citizens who lived near the dam, the government turned to the United Nations for help in 1959.然而,巨大的挑战有时会带来很好的解决方案。

HOW DAISY LEARNED TO HELP WILDLIFEDaisy had always longed to help endangered species of wildlife. One day she woke up and found a flying carpet by her bed. “Where do you want to go?” it asked. Daisy responded immediately. “I’d like to see some endangered wildlife,”she said. “Please take me to a distant land where I can find the animal that gave fur to make this sweater.” At once the carpet flew away and took her to Tibet. There Daisy saw an antelope looking sad. It said, “We’re being killed for the wool beneath our stomachs. Our fur is being used to make sweaters for people like you. As a result, we are now an endangered species.” At that Daisy cried, “I’m sorry I didn’t know that. I wonder what is being done to help you. Flying carpet, please show me a place where there’s some wildlife protection.”The flying carpet travelled so fast that next minute they were in Zimbabwe. Daisy turned around and found that she was being watched by an elephant. “Have you come to take my photo?” it asked. In relief Daisy burst into laughter. “Don’t laugh.”said the elephant, “We used to be an endangered species. Farmers hunted us without mercy. They said we destroyed their farms, and money from tourists only went to the large tour companies. So the government decided to help. They allowed tourists to hunt only a certain number of animals if they paid the farmers. Now the farmers are happy and our numbers are increasing. So good things are being done here to save local wildlife.”Daisy smiled. “That’s good news. It shows the importance of wildlife protection, but I’d like to help as the WWF suggests.”The carpet rose again and almost at once they were in a thick rain-forest. A monkey watched them as it rubbed itself. “What are you doing?” asked Daisy. “I’m protecting myself from mosquitoes,” it replied. “When I find a millipede insect, I rub it over my body. It contains a powerful drug which affects mosquitoes. You should pay more attention to the rain-forest where I live and appreciate how the animals live together. No rain-forest, no animals, no drugs.”Daisy was amazed. “Flying carpet, please take me home so I can tell WWF and we can begin producing this new drug. Monkey, please come and help.”The monkey agreed. The carpet flew home. As they landed, things began to disappear. Two minutes later everything had gone-the monkey, too. So Daisy was not able to make her new drug. But what an experience! She had learned so much! And there was always WWF…ANIMAL EXTINCTIONMany animals have disappeared during the long history of the earth. The most famous of these animals are dinosaurs. They lived on the earth tens of millions of years ago, long before humans came into being and their future seemed secure at that time. There were many different kinds of dinosaur and a number of them used to live in China. The eggs of twenty-five species have been found in Xixia County, Nanyang, Henan Province. Not long ago a rare new species of bird-like dinosaur was discovered in Chaoyang County, Liaoning Province. When scientists inspected the bones, they were surprised to find that these dinosaurs could not only run like the others but also climb trees. They learned this from the way the bones were joined together.Dinosaurs died out suddenly about 65 million years ago. Some scientists think it came after an unexpected incident when a huge rock from space hit the earth and put too much dust into the air. Others think the earth got too hot for the dinosaurs to live on any more. Nobody knows for sure why and how dinosaurs disappeared from the earth in such a short time.We know many other wild plants, animals, insects and birds have died out more recently. According to a UN report, some 844 animals and plants have disappeared in the last 500 years. The dodo is one of them. It lived on the Island of Mauritius and was a very friendly animal. Please listen to a story of the dodo and how it disappeared from the earth.。

In the 16th century, the nearby country of Wales was joined to the Kingdom of England. Later, in the 18th century, the country Scotland was joined to create the Kingdom of Great Britain. In the 19th century, the Kingdom of Ireland was added to create the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. Finally, in the 20th century, the southern part of Ireland broke away from the UK, which resultedin the full name we have today: the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Most people just use the shortened name: “the United Kingdom” or “the UK”. People from the UK are called “British”, which means the UK is also often referred to as Britain or Great Britain.

In the 19th century, the Kingdom of Ireland was added to create the United Kingdom of Great British and Ireland. Most people just use the shortened name: “the United Kingdom” or “the UK”. People from the UK are called “British”, which means the UK is also often referred to as Britian or Great Britain. The four countries that belong to the United Kingdom work together in some areas. They use the same flag, known as the Union Jack, as well asshare the same currency and military defence. However, they also have some differences. For examples, England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland all have different education systems and legal systems. They also have their own traditions, like their own national days and national dishes. And they even have their own football teams for competitions like the World Cup!The United Kingdom has a long and interesting history to explore, which can help you understand much more about the country and its traditions. Almost everywhere you go in the UK, you will be surrounded by evidence of four different groups of people who took over at different times throughout history. The first group, the Romans, came in the first century. Some of their great achievements included building towns and roads. Next . the Anglo-Saxons arrived in the fifth century. They introduced the beginning of the English language, and changed the way people built houses. The Viking came in the eighth century, left behind lots of new vocabulary, and also the names of many locations across the UK. The last group were the Normans. They conquered England after the well -known Battle of Hashing in the 11th century. They had castles built all around England, and made changes to the legal system. The Normans were French, so many French words slowly entered into the English language. There is so much more to learn about the interesting history and culture of the United Kingdom. Studying the history of the country will make your visit much more enjoyable. The capital city London is a great place to start, as it is an ancient port city that has a history dating all the way back to Roman times. There are countless historic sites to explore, and lots of museums with ancient relics from all over the UK. The UK is a fascinating mix of history and modern culture, with both new and old traditions. If you keep your eyes open, you will be surprised to find that you can see both its past and its present.Reading and writingBEAUTIFUL IRELAND AND ITS TRADITIONSIreland’s beautiful countryside has always had a great influence on its people and traditions. The country has a long history of producing great writers and poets. Its beautiful countryside excites and inspires all, offering something for each of the senses. The peaceful landscape of the “Emerald Isle” and its many green counties is a true feast for the eyes, with its rolling green hills dotted with sheep and cattle. And down by the sea, the roar of the ocean waves and cries of the seabirds make up the music of the coast. On a quiet morning in the mountains, feel the sun on your skin, and breathe in the sweet scent of fresh flowers while birds greet the new day with their morning song. With all this beauty, it is not surprising that Ireland has developed strong traditions that included music, dancing, and dining. To have a chance of experiencing this, stop bya village pub and relax with a glass of wine or a local beer. Better yet, enjoy a delicious traditional Irish Beef Stew. If you’re lucky, you might be able to enjoy some traditional music and dancing, too. And if you introduce yourself to a friendly face, you are more than likely to experience local culture and customs first-hand.。
