Step1VocabularyLink

Introducetheideaofonlinepenpals---newfriendsthatcorrespondbye-mail. Askifanystudentshaveonlinepenpals.Iftherearesomestudentshavingonlinepen pals,askoneortwotointroducetheirpenpalstotheclass.Presentthevocabulary. Havestudentsfillintheinformation.Checkanswers.Nexthavestudentsworkinpai rs.Ifthereisonestudentleft,askhimorhertojoinapairtomakeagroup.Havestude ntsintervieweachotherandfillintheinformation.

Step2Listening

Familiarizestudentswiththenewwords.Askthemtoreadthenewwordsaloudafteryo u.Reviewtheideaofonlinepenpals.Tellstudentstolistenandwritetheiranswers .Playtherecordingandcheckanswers.Listenagainandanswerthequestionsaboutt hepeople.Checkthecorrectbox.

Step3Speaking AskstudentshowtheygreetpeopleinEnglishanddirecttheirattentiontotheusefu lexpressions.Introducethesituationandpresenttheconversation.Askstudents toguesswhetherthey’remeetingforthefirsttime.Listenagainandthenhavethem practicetheconversationwithapartner.Directstudents’attentiontotheusefu lexpressionsintheboxandhavethemreadtheseexpressionsaloudwiththeirparent s.Givestudentsoneminutetopreparetheirowninformation.Thenhavestudentspra cticetheconversationwithapartnerusingtheirinformation.Invitepairstopres enttheirconversationstotheclass.
