The content of the lesson is Senior English for China Student’s Book 6 Unit 4 Understanding People, the first period: Reading --- A Good Heart to Lean on. I’ll begin the lesson from the following five parts, the teaching material, the teaching methods, the studying methods, the teaching procedure and blackboard design. First, Ok now I am going to start from the first part.Firstly,let me introduce the teaching material.This unit is to have students learn to understand other people. The reading passage is the center of this unit. This passage is a moving story about a disabled father and a son. It is made up of 10 paragraphs, that is, the son can’t understand his crippled father at first, even felt very shy because he has such a father. With the growth of the age, he came to understand his father and have a good opinion of his father. The text is the most important teaching material in this lesson, which extends the main topic “understanding people” and contains most of the vocabulary and grammar points that students should learn in this unit.Secondly, I want to tell something about the students. Computer Assisted Language TeachingThe Computer Assisted Language Teaching can provide students attractive materials, creating vivid language learning environment. It can shorten the time for students to understand, improve the quality of teaching.Part 3 studying MethodsStudents can take the following learning methods: task-based, self-dependent and cooperative learning.Part 4 Teaching ProcedureI have designed the following steps to train their ability of listening, speaking, reading and writing. After this, the students will be eager to know something about the story in our lesson and this is the very time to naturally lead the class into Step 2Step 2. Pre-reading1 .The students will be asked to glance at the title and the pictures of the passage,combine the topic just now we talked about and then guess what they will read in the text. And they’ll be divided into four groups to have a discussion about the person and the story.Purpose: Train the Ss` prediction ability to grasp the general idea of a passage.Step 3.listening comprehension and Fast readingHave the students listen to the tape ,follow the tape to read the passage quickly, and try to grasp the general idea of the passage.Purpose: train the students’listening ability.
