He soon spent all his money, so he went to the south of the country, as people said it was easier to find work there. The easiest way to go there was to take a train. Soon John got on a train.

The train started. There were not many people on the train. Suddenly a man with a gun came in. He went up to John and said, "Your money, or your life!"

"But I've got no money, sir,"John answered. He looked sad.

"Then why are you so afraid?"asked the man with a gun angrily.

"I thought you wanted to see my ticket, and I had no money to buy one."said John.

Mr. Tom Forester lived by himself a long way from town. He hardly ever left his home, but one day he went into town to buy some things in the market.
