The rain fell silent, memory stranded. Heart touch the trace of light and soft, through the time barrier, old haunt, deep footprints, shadowy figure, and that was years of erosion tender, in the mind too be, when wants to taste, but do not know where to. So, only ranging in half awaken, despite the vicissitudes of life faded old youth, such a romantic themes, to write a chapter. Only if the first sign of life, a glimpse into the doomed it somewhere, freeze-frame moment, fleeting, took infinite imagination and endless memories.
Philosophy, as I shall understand the word, is something intermediate between theology and science. Like theology, it consists of speculations on matters as to which definite knowledge has, so far, been unascertainable; but like science, it appeals to human reason rather than to authority, whether that of tradition or that of revelation. All definite knowledge--so I should contend--belongs to science; all dogma as to what surpasses definite knowledge belongs to theology. But between theology and science there is a No Man's Land, exposed to attack from both sides; this No Man's Land is philosophy. Almost all the questions of most interest to speculative minds are such as science cannot answer, and the confident answers of theologians no longer seem so convincing as they did in former centuries.
Is the beginning and the end, is the beginning and the end, is gathered is also discrete, is also the destination point. Never in one place, can bring together such a flow of people, never a place, can have such grief at separation and joy in union. From early morning to the day, from dusk to night, from night to dawn, with countless footprints from around the earth, overlapping, closely trample up. Red soil from the mountains, there are brown soil from the field, black soil from the city, the land from the white beach. Comes another loss, accumulation and fall, not a seed to take root here, as there is no feet presence here. Because of this is only the flow of air, this is just past the platform.
With a little more deliberation in the choice of their pursuits, all men would perhaps become essentially students and observers, for certainly their nature and destiny are interesting to all alike. In accumulating property for ourselves or our posterity, in founding a family or a state, or acquiring fame even, we are mortal; but in dealing with truth we are immortal, and need fear no change nor accident. The oldest Egyptian or Hindoo philosopher raised a corner of the veil from the statue of the divinity; and still the trembling robe remains raised, and I gaze upon as fresh a glory as he did, since it was I in him that was then so bold, and it is he in me that now reviews the vision. No dust has settled on that robe; no time has elapsed since that divinity was revealed. That time which we really improve, or which is improvable, is neither past, present, nor future.
