Lugu Lake: Lugu Lake is a deep lake dotted with some islets and surrounded by high mountains. It is at a high elevation of 2,685 meters or 8,809 feet in the high mountains that are on the borders of Sichuan, Yunnan and Tibet. The lake is quite scenic and some of the villages around the lake have accomodations and restaurants. But the road from LiJiang to Lugu Lake is an adventure. It usually takes in good conditions about 6 hours with a four wheel car and a good driver. That is for one way. So you need to stay overnight at Lugu Lake. The hotels have not exactly international standard, but some are okay for one night. In a word , it's a nice place, but cost is not favourable.

LiJiang Ancient Town :The ancient town of LiJiang itself, I think, is a window into China’s past. With museums, temples and ethnic minorities the tourist spots will certainly give you a cultural experience. It was a former trading town and a stop for traders carrying goods on the “Chama Road” trails. It was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997 following an earthquake and reconstruction in 1996 that returned the city to a more ancient look. The landscape is dramቤተ መጻሕፍቲ ባይዱtic, and the Chama Road was important historically for the development of the cultures and people of Southeast Asia, China and the Himalayan Region. Now, the small city has been commercialized and millions of tourists visit every year, but three ancient districts are somewhat preserved.
