1. On the good that came come from failure. It doesn't matter how far you might rise. At some point, you are bound to stumble. If you're constantly pushing yourself higher and higher, the law of averages predicts that you will at some point fall. And when you do, I want you to remember this: There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction. Now, when you're down there in the hole, it looks like failure. When that moment comes, it's okay to feel bad for a little while. Give yourself time to mourn what you think you may have lost. But then, here's the key: Learn from every mistake, because every experience, particularly your mistakes, are there to teach you and force you into being more who you are."There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction.

To say that I’m honored doesn’t even begin to quantify the depth of gratitude that really accompanies an honorary doctorate from Harvard. Not too many little girls from rural Mississippi have made it all the way here to Cambridge. And I can tell you that I consider today as I sat on the stage this morning getting teary for you all and then teary for myself, I consider today a defining milestone in a very long and a blessed journey. My one hope today is that I can be a source of some inspiration. I’m going to address my remarks to anybody who has ever felt inferior or felt disadvantaged, felt screwed by life, this is a speech for the Quad.

There really is nothing more important to me than striving to be a good human being. So, to be here tonight and be acknowledged as the first to receive this honor is beyond expression in words for me.…We all are just regular people seeking the same thing — we all just want to know that we matter. We want validation. We want the same things. We want safety and we want to live a long life. We want to find somebody to love. We want to find somebody to laugh with and have the power and the place to cry with when necessary. The greatest pain in life is to be invisible. What I’ve learned is that we all just want to be heard. And I thank all the people who continue to let me hear your stories, and by sharing your stories, you let other people see themselves and for a moment, glimpse the power to change and the power to triumph.Maya Angelou said, “When you learn, teach. When you get, give.” I want you to know that this award to me means that I will continue to strive to give back to the world what it has given to me, so that I might even be more worthy of tonight’s honor.

I'm not kidding.Change the world in new, exciting and big ways,"Nye,better known as "The Science Guy,"said."Keepreaching.Keep seeking.Keep using your abilities to bring out the best in those around you,and let them bring out the best in you."

It is a privilege to share my thoughts with such a distinguished gathering of students, faculty, staff, and guests.I want to talk to you about the power of believing in yourself. I believe that each and every one of us has the potential to achieve great things in life. But in order to do so, we must first believe in ourselves.I know that this may sound like a simple concept, butit is actually one of the most important things we can doin life. When we believe in ourselves, we are more likelyto take risks, to try new things, and to go after our dreams. We are also more likely to overcome obstacles and challenges.I have seen the power of belief firsthand in my own life. I grew up in a poor family in Mississippi. I had to overcome many obstacles to get to where I am today. But I never gave up on my dreams. I always believed in myself, and I always knew that I could achieve anything I set my mind to.One of the most important things I have learned in life is that we all have the ability to create our own reality. We can choose to believe that we are capable of great things, or we can choose to believe that we are not. The choice is ours.If we choose to believe in ourselves, we will be amazed at what we can achieve. We can accomplish anything we set our minds to. We can overcome any obstacle. We can live the lives we have always dreamed of.So I urge you to believe in yourself. Believe that you are capable of great things. Believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. And never give up on yourdreams.Thank you.

My name is Oprah Winfrey, and I am truly honored to be here at Stanford University today. I've been asked to speak to you about what I believe is the single most important thing in life: the pursuit of your purpose.I know that for many of you, the idea of finding your purpose can seem daunting. You may be thinking, "How will I know what my purpose is?" or "What if I never find it?" But I want to assure you that it is possible to find your purpose, and it is worth the effort.Your purpose is the reason you are here on this earth. It is the unique contribution that you are meant to make to the world. It is what you are passionate about, what you are good at, and what brings you joy. When you are living in alignment with your purpose, youwill feel a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction that you cannot find in any other way. You will be motivated to work hard, to overcome challenges, and to make a difference in the world. So how do you find your purpose? There is no one-size-fits-all answer, but there are some things that you can do to help you on your journey.First, take some time to reflect on what you are passionate about. What do you love to do? What makes you feel alive? Once you have a good understanding of your passions, you can start to explore different ways to use them to make a difference in the world.Second, don't be afraid to experiment. Try different things and see what you enjoy. The more you experiment, the more likely you are to find something that you are passionate about and that you are good at.Third, don't give up. Finding your purpose takes time and effort. There will be times when you feel discouraged, but don't give up. Keep exploring and keep experimenting. Eventually, you will find your purpose.I know that finding your purpose is not always easy. But I believe that it is one of the most important things that you can do in your life. When you live in alignment with your purpose, you will be happier, more successful, and more fulfilled. So I urge you to take the time to find your purpose. It is the best investment that you can make in your future.Example:When I was a young girl, I always loved to talk. I would talk to my friends, my family, and anyone else who would listen. I loved to make people laugh and to make them feel good.As I got older, I realized that my love of talking could be used to make a difference in the world. I could use my voice to speak out against injustice, to inspireothers, and to make the world a better place. So I decided to become a talk show host. I wanted to use my platform to help others and to make a difference in the world. And that is exactly what I have been doing for the past 30 years.I am so grateful that I found my purpose early in life. It has given me a sense of fulfillment and satisfactionthat I cannot find in any other way. I am so passionate about my work, and I am so grateful that I get to do what I love every day.I know that not everyone is as lucky as I am to find their purpose early in life. But I believe that everyone has a purpose, and it is worth the effort to find it.So I urge you to take the time to find your purpose. It is the best investment that you can make in your future.

I was raised by a single mother who worked as a maid. We lived in a small, wooden house with no running water or electricity. But my mother always told me that I could be anything I wanted to be. She said, "Oprah, you can be the president of the United States."I didn't know what the president of the United States was, but I knew that I wanted to be somebody. I wanted to make a difference in the world. So I worked hard in school. I got good grades and I went to college. After college, I got a job as a newsreporter. I was the first African American woman to anchor the news in Nashville, Tennessee. But I still wasn't satisfied. I wanted to do more. I wanted to reach a wider audience. So I started my own talk show. The Oprah Winfrey Show became one of the most popular shows in the world. I interviewed presidents, celebrities, and ordinary people. I talked about everything from politics to relationships to spirituality.I used my platform to empower others. I talked about the importance of education, financial literacy, and self-esteem.

奥普拉哈佛毕业典礼演讲:人生唯一目标就是做真实的自己 oh my goodness! im athaaaaaarvard! thats how oprah winfrey began her speech at harvard universitygraduation ceremony—in her spirited, signature way. winfrey also received anhonorary doctor of law degree from the university before taking to the podium.温弗瑞演讲中4条最励志的语录谈失败的好处there is no such thing as failure. failure is just life trying to move us in anotherdirection.

learn from every mistake, because every experience, particularly your mistakes, are there to teach you and force you into being more who you are.

2. on her own biggest personal failure.

谈职业生涯所做访谈的共同性beyonce in all her beyonce-ness ... they all want to know: was that okay? didyou hear me? did you see me? did what i said mean anything to you?

My idol Opral Winfrey received the Cecil B.DeMille award. I'm so happy it was you. Thank you. Okay, okay. Thank you, Reese. In 1964, I was a little girl sitting on the linoleum floor of my mother's house in Milwaukee watching Anne Bancroft present the Oscar for Best Actor at the 36th Academy Awards. She opened the envelope and said five words that literally made history -- "The winner is Sidney Poitier." Up to the stage came the most elegant man I had ever seen. I remember, his tie was white, and, of course, his skin was black, and I'd never seen a black man being celebrated like that. And I have tried many, many, many times to explain what a moment like that means to a little girl, a kid watching from the cheap seats, as my mom came through the door, bone tired from cleaning other people's houses. But all I can do is quote and say that the explanation in Sidney's performance in "Lilies of the Field," "Amen, amen. Amen, amen."(阿门的意思是“诚如所愿”“诚心所愿”“我觉得很好”)In 1982, Sidney received the Cecil B. DeMille award right here at the Golden Globes, and it is not lost on me that(be lost on:make no difference to sb,此句话中用了not,意思为肯定:对我影响很大), at this moment, there are some little girls watching as I become the first black woman to be given this same award. It is an honor -- It is an honor, and it is a privilege to share the evening with all of them and also with the incredible men and women who've inspired me, who've challenged me, who've sustained(support and maintain) me and made my journey to this stage possible. Dennis Swanson, who took a chance(risk) on me for "AMChicago." Quincy Jones, who saw me on that show and said to Steven Spielberg, "Yes, she is Sofia in 'The Color Purple.'" Gayle, who's been the definition of what a friend is. And Stedman, who's been my rock(the person i can rely on). Just a few to name.I'd like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Because we all know that the press is under siege(being criticized ) these days. But we also know that it is the insatiable(greedy) dedication(devotion or commitment) to uncovering the absolute truth that keeps us from turning a blind eye t o corruption(dishonest or illegal behavior, especially of people in authority) and to injustice... ...totyrants( merciless ruler) and victims, and secrets and lies.I want to say that I value the press more than ever before as we try to navigate (sail/ find the right way)these complicated times, which brings me to this. What I know for sure is that speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have. And I'm especially proud and inspired by all the women who have felt strong enough and empowered enough to speak up and share their personal stories. Each of us in this room are celebrated because of the stories that we tell, and this year, we became the story. But it's not just a story affecting the entertainment industry. It's one that transcends (exceed/go beyond)any culture, geography, race, religion, politics, or workplace. So I want tonight to express gratitude(feeling of being grateful) to all the women who have endured years of abuse and assault(attack) because they, like my mother, had children to feed and bills to pay and dreams to pursue. They're the women whose names we'll never know. They are domestic workers and farm workers. They are working in factories, and they work in restaurants, 05:08 and they're in academia, in engineering, in medicine, in science. They're part of the world of tech and politics and business. They're our athletes in the Olympics, and they're our soldiers in the military, and there's someone else.Recy Taylor. A name I know and I think you should know, too. In 1944, Recy Taylor was a young wife and a mother. She was just walking home from a church service she'd attended in Abbeville, Alabama, when she was abducted by six armed (using weapons)white men, raped, and left blindfolded by the side of the road coming home from church. They threatened to kill her if she ever told anyone, but her story was reported to the NAACP where a young worker by the name of Rosa Parks became the lead investigator on her case, and together, they sought justice. But justice wasn't an option in the era of Jim Crow. The men who tried to destroy her were neverpersecuted. Recy Taylor died 10 days ago, just shy of her 98th birthday. She lived, as we all have lived, too many years in a culture broken by brutally(withoutmercy---n.brutality) powerful men.And for too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dare to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up! Their time is up.And I just hope -- I just hope that Recy Taylor died knowing that her truth, like the truth of so many other women who were tormented in those years, and even now tormented(torture), goes marching on. It was somewhere in Rosa Parks' heartalmost 11 years later, when she made the decision t o stay seated on that bus inMontgomery, and it's here with every woman who chooses to say, "Me too." Andevery man -- every man who chooses to listen. In my career, what I've always tried my best to do, whether on television or through film, is to say something about how men and women really behave, to say how we experience shame, how we love and how we rage(v.show great anger/n. ), how we fail, how we retreat, persevere, and how we overcome.•I've interviewed and portrayed(play;represent;depict个人认为取“扮演”之意) people who've withstood (withstand/endure/bear)some of the ugliest things life can throw at you, but the one quality all of them seem to share is an ability to maintain hope for a brighter morning, even during our darkest nights. So I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon(在地平线上;即将来临的)! And when that new day finally dawns(n. 破晓;出现;被领悟)...It will be because of a lot of magnificent (extrordinary, incredible)women, many of whom are right here in this room tonight, 08:56 and some pretty phenomenal(adj. 现象的;显著的;异常的;能知觉的) men, fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody ever has to say "Me too" again.(这句“Times Up”和“Me Too”,都代指今年的好莱坞反性侵运动“Times Up”。
