By 1941, the Nazis were arresting large numbers of Jewish people, and sending them to labour camps which quickly became death camps. Otto Frank, Anne’s father, decided to conceal his family, and the family of his business partner. The Franks went into hiding on 6 July 1942, just a few weeks after Anne started her diary, and were joined by the second family, the Van Pels a week later. For the next two years, eight people were confined to just six small rooms and could never go outside. There was rarely enough to eat, and the families lived in a state of poverty.

English was first spoken by the Anglo-Saxons who invaded England in the fifth century. They passed onto us the basic vocabulary of English. In over fifteen centuries of its development, English has enriched itself by massive borrowing. As British immigrants landed in America and established the United States as an independent nation, a new variety was added to the English language: American English. Though some people worry that the language is running out of control, many native speakers of English take pride in the tolerance of their language.。

Task 2 Text
One major breakthrough in genetic engineering could lead to control of the aging process. This could then open up a series of new approaches to keeping human beings in a youthful state over the long term. Right now, relatively little money is being spent on research to extend the healthy human life span. We believe, however, that even a small step towards slowing or reversing aging will lead to an enormous flow of research funds to further control aging. This, in turn, will lead to further progress in extending the life span.

5 “Yes, yes, of course,” murmured the company, more and more agitated.
6 “Seldom has a city gained such world renown, and I am proud and happy to welcome you to Hiroshima, a town known throughout the world for its – oysters.”
Warming Up
HARRY TRUMAN: “The world will note that the first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, a military base. We won the race of discovery against the Germans. We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war, in order to save the lives of thousands and thousands of young Americans. We shall continue to use it until we completely destroy Japan’s power to make war.” American planes dropped one of the bombs on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, and another on Nagasaki 3 days later. Exactly how many people in those 2 cities died from the force and heat of the blasts or later from radiation may never be known. The Radiation Effects Research Foundation in Japan estimates that between 150,000 and 246,000 died within 2 to 4 months of the bombings. Japan surrendered on August 15, 1945, 6 days after the Nagasaki bombing.

She knew that this was an amazing opportunity, though, and tried not to let her nervousness take control.Rebecca was chosen from among many students who were all competing for a spot on the research team. Rebecca had the best grades and a reputation for being reliable in her work. She also demonstrated creative thinking and showed the most promise in the field of biology. All in all, she was a very talented young woman. Most of her classmates were jealous, but they all still wished her luck and eagerly anticipated many great stories after she returned home at the end of the summer. The first couple of weeks in the field, Rebecca was limited to assisting the scientists. Unit 7 Letter to a B Student答案综合教程二

Unit 7 Letter to a B Student答案综合教程二

Unit 7 Letter to a B Student答案综合教程二Dear Friend,I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. It has been a while since we last communicated, and I thought it fitting to share with you my thoughts on a topic that I believe will resonate with both of us. The topic at hand is the perception and value of being a 'B' student.Throughout our academic journeys, we have been bombarded with messages that emphasize the importance of achieving top grades, being at the top of our classes, and striving for perfection. It is often implied that anything short of an 'A' is a failure. However, I would like to challenge this notion and argue that being a 'B' student is not something to be discredited, but rather celebrated.First and foremost, it is crucial to acknowledge that grades are not the sole indicator of intelligence or potential. While an 'A' may signify extensive knowledge and outstanding performance in a particular subject, it does not necessarily reflect one's overall abilities or character. Education is a multifaceted journey that encompasses a wide range of skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and interpersonal skills. These qualities are not always reflected in letter grades but are essential for success in life beyond academia.Furthermore, being a 'B' student allows for a healthy work-life balance. It is no secret that achieving top grades requires immense dedication, sacrifice, and often comes at the expense of personal well-being. While it is essential to strive for excellence, it is equally important to engage inextracurricular activities, maintain relationships, and pursue personal interests. A 'B' student understands the value of balance, prioritizing overall growth and development rather than solely focusing on academic achievements.Another aspect worth considering is the valuable life lessons that being a 'B' student offers. Perfection is an unrealistic and unattainable goal. By embracing imperfection and accepting that failure is a part of the learning process, 'B' students cultivate resilience, adaptability, and grit. These qualities are invaluable in navigating the challenges of life, where success is often determined by how one copes with setbacks and perseveres in the face of adversity. Moreover, 'B' students tend to be more well-rounded individuals. By not fixating solely on academics, they have the opportunity to explore a diverse range of interests and passions. This exposure to different fields and experiences broadens their horizons, fostering creativity and a sense of curiosity that can extend far beyond the classroom. Combined with their ability to manage time efficiently, 'B' students are often equipped with a diverse skill set that allows them to excel in various spheres of life.In conclusion, being a 'B' student should be celebrated rather than dismissed. It is essential to redefine success beyond the confines of letter grades and recognize the value of personal growth, balance, and holistic development. By embracing imperfection and focusing on the lessons learned along the way, 'B' students can thrive both academically and in the vast realm of life.I hope you find solace and inspiration in these words, my dear friend. Let us celebrate the 'B' students and all that they bring to the table. May we all strive for excellence in our unique ways and remember that true success lies in the journey, not just the destination. With warm regards,[Your Name]。

Second, he ought to have a strong sense of responsibility. Whatever he does, he should think about the family. Heshould also spend as much time as possible with his family no matter how busy he is/In my opinion, a good father is one who cares about his children and knows how to communicate with his children. Father took the old man to our home, gave him a meal and then sent him home with some money. Father’s generosity has earned him a lot of friends, as well as a good reputation.Passage BThink About It1 The best of motherhood is to love with devotion.
