The Problem of Unethical Behavior among Chinese TouristsIn recent years, the number of Chinese tourists traveling abroad has been increasing rapidly. While the growth of the tourism industry has brought significant economic benefits to both the travelers and the host countries, it has also revealed a disturbing trend of unethical behavior among Chinese tourists. From disrespectful behavior towards local customs and traditions to outright vandalism of historic sites, the actions of some Chinese travelers have created a negative image for their country and tarnished the reputation of Chinese tourists as a whole. One of the most common complaints about Chinese tourists is their lack of respect for local customs and traditions. Many travelers fail to appreciate the cultural differences between their home country and the places they visit, leading to misunderstandings and conflicts with local residents. For example, in some countries, it is considered rude to speak loudly in public places or to point fingers at others, but these behaviors are often seen among Chinese tourists. Additionally, some travelers have been known to disregard local laws andregulations, such as smoking in non-smoking areas or littering in public places.Another issue that has received significant attention is the disrespectful treatment of historic sites and natural attractions by Chinese tourists. For example, there have been numerous reports of travelers defacing ancient monuments and carving their names into the walls of historic buildings. In some cases, tourists have even been caught stealing artifacts or damaging cultural relics for souvenirs. These actions not only disrespect the host country's heritage but also diminish the value of these sites for future generations.Furthermore, there have been instances of Chinese tourists engaging in unethical activities such as illegal wildlife trafficking, animal abuse, and environmental destruction. Some travelers have been caught smuggling endangered species, purchasing products made from endangered animals, or participating in activities that harm the local ecosystem. These actions not only violate international laws and conventions but also demonstrate a lack of respect for the natural environment and the rights of indigenous communities. The prevalence of unethical behavior among Chinese tourists has raised concerns among governments, tourismofficials, and the general public. Many countries have implemented measures to address these issues, such as increasing fines for violations, providing education and training to travelers, and promoting responsible tourism practices. Some travel agencies and tour operators have also taken steps to educate their clients about the importance of respecting local customs and traditions, as well as the need to protect the environment and cultural heritage of the places they visit. It is important to recognize that the behavior of a few individuals does not represent the entire Chinese tourist population. Most travelers are law-abiding, respectful, and conscientious about their impact on the places they visit. However, it is crucial for all tourists, regardless of their nationality, to act responsibly and ethically while traveling abroad. By respecting the local customs and traditions, preserving the natural environment, and engaging in sustainable tourism practices, travelers can contribute to the positive development of the tourism industry and promote cross-cultural understanding and harmony.。

Chinese tourists have gained a reputation for their uncivilized behavior when traveling abroad. This has become a significant concern for many countries and has led to various efforts to address the issue. The problem is multifaceted and can be attributed to a combination of cultural differences, lack of education, and the rapid growth of the Chinese tourism industry. One of the most commonly cited issues is the lack of respect for local customs and traditions. Chinese tourists have been known to engage in activities that are considered disrespectful or inappropriate in the countries they visit. This includes littering, spitting, and cutting in line, which are often seen as rude and disruptive by the local population. Additionally, some Chinese tourists have been accused of damaging historical sites or engaging in activities that are harmful to the environment.Another problem is the lack of language skills and cultural awareness. Many Chinese tourists do not speak the local language and are unfamiliar with the cultural norms of the countries they visit. This canlead to misunderstandings and conflicts with local residents. For example, some Chinese tourists have been known to haggle aggressively or to be demanding and impatient when dealing with service providers. The rapid growth of the Chinese tourism industry has also contributed to the problem. As more and more Chinese citizens have the means and opportunity to travel abroad, the sheer volume of Chinese tourists has overwhelmed some destinations. This has led to overcrowding, increased strain on local infrastructure, and a greater potential for uncivilized behavior. In response to these issues, many countries have taken steps to address the problem of uncivilized behavior by Chinese tourists. Some have implemented educational campaigns to teach Chinese tourists about local customs and etiquette. Others have introduced stricter regulations and enforcement measures to curb disruptive behavior. For example, in 2013, the Chinese government introduced a "civilized tourism" campaign that aimed to promote more responsible and respectful behavior among Chinese tourists. This included the development of a "blacklist" system that would ban repeat offenders from traveling abroad.Similarly, several popular tourist destinations have taken steps to address the problem. In Thailand, for example, the government has introduced a "tourist police" force to monitor and address the behavior of foreign tourists, including Chinese tourists. In Japan, some hotels and restaurants have begun to refuse service to Chinese tourists who engage in disruptive behavior. While these efforts have had some success, the problem of uncivilized behavior by Chinese tourists remains a significant challenge. It will require a multi-faceted approach that involves education, regulation, and enforcement, as well as cooperation between China and the countries that host Chinese tourists. One potential solution is to invest in better language and cultural training for Chinese tourists before they travel abroad. This could include the development of educational materials and programs that teach Chinese tourists about local customs and etiquette, as well as how to communicate effectively with service providers and local residents.Additionally, there may be a need for stronger enforcement measures and harsher penalties for those who engage in uncivilized behavior. This could include the implementation of fines or travel bans for repeat offenders, as well as the development of more robust systems for reporting and addressing incidents of uncivilizedbehavior.Ultimately, addressing the problem of uncivilized behavior by Chinese tourists will require a collaborative effort between China, the countries that host Chinese tourists, and the tourists themselves. By working together to promote greater cultural awareness and responsible behavior, it may be possible to improve the reputation of Chinese tourists and ensure that they are welcomed and respected in the countries they visit.。

I was at the Great Wall of China last week, and I couldn't believe how some tourists were behaving. I saw people carving their names into the ancient stones, throwing trash everywhere, and even disrespecting the local culture by being loud and rude. It was really disappointing to see such lack of respect for such an importanthistorical site. It's not just at the Great Wall, though. I've seen similar behavior at other tourist attractions around the world. It seems like some people forget that they are guests in a foreign country and that they should behave accordingly. It's important to remember that we are representing our own countries when we travel, and we should strive to be good ambassadors.I think part of the problem is that some tourists don't understand or appreciate the cultural significance of the places they visit. They see them as just another photoopportunity, rather than as important historical or religious sites. Education and awareness are key to addressing this issue, and I think travel companies and tour guides have a responsibility to provide this information to their clients.Another issue is the lack of enforcement of rules and regulations at tourist sites. There needs to be more oversight and consequences for bad behavior. If people knew they could face fines or even be banned from certain sites for disrespectful behavior, they might think twice before acting out.Ultimately, it comes down to individual responsibility. We all need to do our part to ensure that our travels have a positive impact, both on the places we visit and on the people who live there. It's not just about following the rules – it's about showing respect and consideration for the places and cultures we encounter.。

Chinese tourists' uncivilized behavior during overseastrips has become a highly debated topic in recent years. While it is important to note that not all Chinese tourists engage in such behavior, there have been instances where some individuals have acted inappropriately, causing distress among locals and tarnishing China's image abroad. It is crucial to address the reasons behind these uncivilized behaviors before proposing any solutions. Firstly, the rapid rise of outbound tourism from China over the past decade has resulted in many first-time travelers who may lack knowledge of local customs and etiquette. This lack of understanding can lead to unintentional disrespect or misunderstandings with locals.Language barriers also play a significant role in exacerbating this issue. Many Chinese tourists may struggle with communicating effectively in foreign languages, making it challenging for them to follow instructions or interact with locals appropriately. Thus, they may unknowinglyengage in behaviors considered rude or disruptive due to their inability to comprehend the cultural nuances of the host country.Additionally, mass tourism and overcrowded tourist attractions can contribute to an environment where disrespectful behavior becomes more prevalent. Large tour groups often prioritize efficiency over cultural sensitivity, rushing from one attraction to another without allowing sufficient time for contemplation or respectful interaction with the surroundings. To address these issues, education and awareness are key factors. Chinese travel agencies and tour operators should invest in comprehensive pre-trip training programs that cover basic international etiquette and local customs of popular destinations. This can help travelers understand and appreciate different cultures before they embark on their trips.Furthermore, language proficiency should be emphasized as part of travel preparation. Simple phrases and expressionsin the local language can go a long way in fostering positive interactions between tourists and locals. Technology advancements also provide opportunities for language barrier mitigation through translation apps or hiring local guides proficient in multiple languages.Destinations themselves could play a role by implementing measures that promote responsible tourism practices. For example, implementing visitor limits at popular sites can help reduce overcrowding and create a more enjoyable experience for both tourists and locals. Additionally, enforcing regulations and penalties for those who engage in uncivilized behavior can act as a deterrent. In conclusion, while some Chinese tourists have exhibited uncivilized behavior during overseas trips, it is important to approach this issue with understanding, addressing its root causes rather than generalizing an entire population. By focusing on education, language proficiency, and responsible tourism practices, we can work towards cultivating a more positive image of Chinese tourists abroad.

Uncivilized Behaviors Amongst Tourists Abroad.Traveling abroad is an exciting experience that offers individuals the opportunity to explore new cultures, landscapes, and ways of life. However, with the increasing popularity of international travel, there has been a growing concern regarding the uncivilized behaviors exhibited by some tourists. These inappropriate actions not only tarnish the image of their home country but alsoaffect the quality of life for当地居民. It is imperative that tourists abroad are mindful of their conduct andstrive to behave in a respectful and courteous manner.A common uncivilized behavior among tourists abroad is a lack of respect for local customs and traditions. Many tourists fail to inform themselves about the cultural norms of the country they are visiting, leading to embarrassing situations or even offensive behavior. For instance, some cultures consider it disrespectful to eat with hands, whileothers frown upon public displays of affection. By failing to adhere to these cultural norms, tourists can unwittingly offend the locals, ruining their own travel experience and potentially causing long-term damage to international relations.Another uncivilized behavior is a lack of consideration for the environment. Many tourists fail to appreciate the fragility of the ecosystems they visit, leading to littering, damage to natural habitats, and irresponsible behavior towards wildlife. This not only degrades the beauty of the natural landscapes but also poses a threat to the sustainability of these fragile ecosystems. Responsible tourism practices, such as using eco-friendly transportation, minimizing waste production, and respecting local wildlife, are crucial for preserving the natural beauty of destinations and ensuring that future generations can enjoy them as well.Additionally, some tourists exhibit a lack of respect for the property and infrastructure of the country they are visiting. This is evident in graffiti, vandalism, anddisrespectful behavior towards public facilities. Such actions not only cause financial losses to the host country but also reflect poorly on the character of the tourists themselves. It is crucial that tourists respect public property, uphold the cleanliness of public spaces, and avoid any form of vandalism. Moreover, loud and obnoxious behavior is another common complaint among locals towards tourists. From blasting music in public spaces to engaging in rowdy and drunken antics, such conduct not only disrupts the peace and tranquility of the destination but also makes the tourists appear rude and insensitive. It is essential that tourists maintain a low profile, respect the quiet hours of accommodation, and avoid causing any disturbance to the locals. The root cause of these uncivilized behaviors can be traced to a lack of education and awareness among tourists. Many tourists fail to realize the impact of their actions beyond their own immediate surroundings. It is, therefore, crucial that governments and tourism organizations providepre-departure education to tourists, informing them about the cultural norms, environmental considerations, and behavioral expectations of the destination country. This education should emphasize the importance of respecting local customs, preserving the environment, and behaving in a responsible and courteous manner. In conclusion, the uncivilized behaviors exhibited by some tourists abroad not only tarnish their own image but also reflect poorly on their home country. It is essential that tourists are mindful of their conduct and strive to behave in a respectful and courteous manner. By adhering to local customs, respecting the environment, preserving public property, and maintaining a low profile, tourists can ensure a positive experience for themselves and contribute to the sustainable development of thedestination country. It is only through responsible and respectful tourism that we can truly appreciate the beauty and diversity of the world we live in.。

Chinese Tourists Behaving Badly AbroadMy name is Xiao Ming and I'm 10 years old. I love traveling with my parents during the summer and winter holidays. We've been to so many amazing places around the world like Thailand, Japan, France, and the United States. Traveling is the best because I get to see new sights, try different foods, and learn about diverse cultures. However, I've noticed that sometimes Chinese tourists don't act very politely when we go abroad. It makes me feel embarrassed and sad. I want to tell you about some of the uncivilized things I've seen Chinese tourists do in other countries. One problem is that many Chinese tourists are very loud and noisy, especially in quiet places like museums, temples, and churches. Just last year, my family went to visit the Vatican in Rome. When we went inside St. Peter's Basilica, I saw a group of mainland Chinese tourists speaking at full volume and letting their children run around wildly. They didn't seem to care that it's a sacred place of worship where people are supposed to be silent and respectful. The guides kept shushing them, but they just ignored it and kept on loudly chatting, taking photos with flash, and letting their kids make lots of noise. An Italian tourist finally got fed up and yelled at them to be quiet. I felt so ashamed that these Chinese tourists were being so inconsiderate in one of the holiest churches in the world. It's really rude and disrespectful behavior.Another bad habit is that some Chinese tourists don't follow the rules and lines at tourist attractions. Once when we went to the Louvre Museum in Paris, there was a special exhibit with a long line to get inside. But I saw some Chinese tourists cutting the whole line and trying to push their way to the front! The people waiting patiently got really angry and there was a lot of shouting and arguing. The security guards had to come and get those Chineseline-cutters out of there. My dad said they shouldn't act in a way that makes all Chinese tourists look bad. He was really embarrassed by their behavior. If you're visiting somewhere, you need to respect the local customs and queue up properly in a line just like everyone else. No one likes queue jumpers.Littering is also a big no-no, but it's another uncivilized thing I've frequently witnessed Chinese tourists doing when traveling. Whether it's just casually tossing garbage on the ground, spitting,or leaving big messes behind, it's really disgraceful. Once at a famous Buddhist temple in Thailand, I saw a young Chinese mother let her toddler pee in the bushes right in the temple grounds! Can you imagine how disrespectful that is to a holy place of worship? My parents were so shocked and quickly took me away from there. They agreed that it's totally unacceptable behavior no matter if you're in China or abroad. Littering and polluting sacred spaces shows you don't care about respecting the environment or the local culture at all. Some other things I've witnessed Chinese tourists doing that are unlawful and disrespectful include carving graffiti into ancient structures, picking flowers and plants in gardens where it's prohibited, climbing over safety barriers to take photos, and lying down or sitting in inappropriate places like on religious altars. This kind of behavior makes me cringe because it shows they have no appreciation or consideration for preserving world heritage sites and cultural treasures. It's also incredibly rude and disruptive to other tourists just trying to enjoy the sights. My mom says they're bored rude people who were never properly taught how to behave.I sincerely hope that more Chinese tourists will learn proper traveling etiquette, follow the rules and restrictions, and act with better manners when visiting other countries. It's so important to be a respectful ambassador for China and our culture when going abroad. We should be on our best behavior, talk softly, don't litter, follow the local dress codes, wait patiently in lines, and appreciate the cultures we are guests in. That's the only way to avoid being an embarrassing, rude, and uncivilized tourist that gives all Chinese travelers a bad reputation. The next time I go traveling with my parents, I'm going to try hard to set a good example with my own polite conduct. I'll remind them to throw away trash, wait in lines, speak softly indoors, and admire things without touching them inappropriately. Hopefully the adults and kids around me will learn from my good example! With slightly better awareness of travel etiquette, Chinese tourists can avoid bringing shame to our country and culture. We owe it to ourselves and our welcoming foreign hosts to be civilized and courteous guests.。

1As Chinese outbound tourism continues to grow rapidly, there has been a noticeable increase in reports of uncivilized behavior exhibited by Chinese tourists while traveling overseas. From littering and cutting in line to public spitting and disrespecting local customs, these behaviors have sparked outrage among locals and tarnished China's image on the global stage. One of the most common complaints against Chinese tourists is their lack of regard for local customs and traditions. Many tourists fail to observe basic etiquettes such as covering their shoulders when entering a place of worship or removing their shoes before entering a home. This disrespect for the host country's culture not only reflects poorly on Chinese tourists but also undermines mutual understanding and respect among nations.Furthermore, Chinese tourists have earned a reputation for being loud and disruptive in public spaces. Whether it's talkingloudly on public transport, playing music without headphones, or engaging in rowdy behavior in restaurants, their actions often disturb others and create tension with local residents. This lack of consideration for others not only causes discomfort but also reinforces negative stereotypes about Chinese tourists as rude and uncivilized.Another major issue that has sparked outrage among locals is the rampant littering by Chinese tourists. Despite strict regulations in many countries regarding waste disposal, many Chinese tourists continue to throw trash on the streets, beaches, and other public areas. This not only damages the environment but also fosters resentment among local communities who are left to clean up after them.In response to these incidents, some host countries have implemented measures to address the issue of uncivilized behavior by Chinese tourists. For example, Thailand has established a "Good Host" campaign to educate tourists about proper behavior and encourage them to respect local customs. Similarly, Japan has launched initiatives to promote responsible tourism and discourage disruptive behavior among tourists. As China continues to promote outbound tourism and more Chinese travelers venture abroad, it is essential for both thegovernment and travel industry to address these challenges. Education plays a crucial role in fostering cultural awareness and promoting respectful behavior among Chinese tourists. Travel agencies can also play a part by providing guidelines and training to ensure that their clients behave responsibly while traveling.Ultimately, the onus is on each individual traveler to be mindful of their actions and to respect the environment, culture, and customs of the countries they visit. By demonstrating good manners and cultural sensitivity, Chinese tourists can help improve their reputation abroad and contribute to positive cross-cultural interactions. Only by promoting responsible tourism and embracing cultural diversity can we foster mutual understanding and harmony in a globalized world.篇2The Uncivilized Behavior of Chinese Tourists OverseasWith the rapid growth of China's economy and the increasing disposable income of its citizens, more and more Chinese tourists are traveling abroad each year. While most Chinese tourists are polite, respectful, and well-behaved while visiting other countries, there has been an increasing number ofreports of uncivilized behavior by some Chinese tourists. This has not only caused embarrassment for China as a nation but has also damaged the reputation of Chinese tourists as a whole. One of the most common complaints from locals in popular tourist destinations is the issue of littering. Chinese tourists have been accused of leaving trash in public places, parks, and even historic sites. This not only shows a lack of respect for the environment but also for the host country and its people. It is important for Chinese tourists to be mindful of this and dispose of their garbage properly in designated bins.Another issue that has been widely reported is the lack of queuing and cutting in line. In many countries, queuing is a common practice and cutting in line is considered rude and disrespectful. Chinese tourists have been criticized for their lack of patience and tendency to push and shove their way to the front of lines. This not only creates frustration among locals but also gives a negative impression of Chinese tourists as being uncivilized.Furthermore, there have been reports of Chinese tourists engaging in disrespectful behavior towards locals, such as speaking loudly, spitting, and smoking in prohibited areas. While these behaviors may be acceptable in China, they are nottolerated in many other countries. Chinese tourists need to be aware of the cultural differences and customs of the countries they are visiting and adjust their behavior accordingly. In addition, Chinese tourists have been criticized for their lack of respect for historical and cultural sites. There have been incidents of tourists defacing ancient monuments, taking inappropriate selfies, and behaving inappropriately at sacred sites. It is important for Chinese tourists to show respect for the history and culture of the countries they are visiting and to behave responsibly at all times. To address these issues, it is important for the Chinese government to work with travel agencies and tour operators to educate Chinese tourists about the importance of respecting local customs and cultures. Travel agencies should provide training to tour guides on how to manage group behavior and ensure that tourists are aware of the dos and don'ts of traveling abroad. In conclusion, while the majority of Chinese tourists are respectful and well-behaved, there is a small minority who engage in uncivilized behavior while traveling overseas. It is important for Chinese tourists to be mindful of their behavior and to show respect for the environment, the local people, andthe cultural heritage of the countries they are visiting. By doing so, Chinese tourists can help improve the reputation of Chinese tourists as a whole and promote cultural exchange and understanding between China and the rest of the world.篇3The Uncivilized Behavior of Chinese Tourists Traveling OverseasIn recent years, the number of Chinese tourists traveling abroad has been increasing rapidly, making China the world's largest outbound tourism market.

Issues of uncivilized behavior among modern tourists have become a growing concern in recent years. With the rise of global tourism and the increasing number of people traveling to different destinations around the world, there has been a noticeable increase in behaviors that are not in line with the values of respect, responsibility, and sustainability. This essay will discuss some of the common forms of uncivilized behavior exhibited by modern tourists, the reasons behind these behaviors, and potential solutions to address this issue. One of the most common uncivilized behaviors observed among modern tourists is littering. Many tourists fail to properly dispose of their trash, leading to pollution of the environment and negatively impacting the local communities they visit. This lack of respect for the environment not only tarnishes the natural beauty of the destination but also poses a threat to wildlife and ecosystems.Another common issue is cultural insensitivity. Some tourists engage in disrespectful behavior such as taking photos without permission, disrupting religious ceremonies, or dressing inappropriately at sacred sites. These actions not only show alack of understanding and respect for the local culture but can also lead to tension and conflict between tourists and residents.Noise pollution is another problem caused by modern tourists. Loud conversations, music, and other disturbances can disrupt the peace and tranquility of a destination, particularly in quiet or residential areas. This can be especially problematic in places where noise restrictions are in place to protect the environment and ensure the well-being of local residents.Over-tourism is a major concern that has been exacerbated by the rise of mass tourism. Popular destinations are often overcrowded with tourists, leading to congestion, long lines, and strain on local infrastructure. This can have negative impacts on the environment, economy, and quality of life for residents, as well as contribute to the degradation of cultural sites and heritage. There are several reasons behind the prevalence of uncivilized behavior among modern tourists. One factor is a lack of awareness and education about responsible travel practices. Many tourists may not be aware of the impact of their actions on the environment, local communities, and cultural heritage. Additionally, some tourists may feel a sense of entitlement orsuperiority, leading them to disregard the needs and values of the destination they are visiting.Social media and the influence of peer pressure can also contribute to uncivilized behavior among tourists. The desire to capture the perfect Instagram shot or impress friends and followers can lead tourists to engage in reckless or disrespectful behavior. The pressure to have a unique and memorable travel experience may also push tourists to prioritize their own desires over the well-being of the destination and its residents. To address the issue of uncivilized behavior among modern tourists, it is important to promote responsible tourism practices and educate travelers about the impact of their actions. Destinations should implement sustainable tourism initiatives, enforce regulations to protect the environment and cultural heritage, and provide information to tourists about local customs and expectations.Tourists should also take responsibility for their actions and be mindful of the impact they have on the destinations they visit. By practicing respect, responsibility, and sustainability, tourists can contribute to the preservation of natural and cultural resources and promote positive interactions between travelers and residents. In conclusion, uncivilized behavior among modern tourists is a growing concern that requires attention and action from all stakeholders in the tourism industry. By promoting responsible travel practices, raising awareness about the impact of tourism, and fostering mutual respect between tourists and residents, we can create a more sustainable and harmonious travel experience for all.。

The title of this English composition is "The Impact of Uncivilized Behavior on Overseas Tourism". Here is the composition:As globalization continues to progress, more and more Chinese tourists are traveling abroad. However, along with the growth of the number of overseas tourists, there has been an increase in uncivilized behavior by some tourists, which has had a negative impact on China's image and the experience of other tourists. Therefore, it is important to呼吁tourists to respect local culture and the environment and behave civilized while abroad.Firstly, uncivilized behavior by tourists can damage the image of the country. When tourists act impolitely or disrespectfully in a foreign country, it not only reflects badly on themselves but also gives a negative impression of their country. This can lead to misunderstandings and prejudices towards Chinese tourists and may even affect international relations.Secondly, uncivilized behavior by tourists can have a negative impact on the tourism industry. If tourists are known for being uncivilized, itmay deter other potential tourists from visiting that particular destination. This can have a significant impact on the local economy and the tourism industry, resulting in job losses and a decline in tourism revenue. Finally, uncivilized behavior by tourists can also cause damage to local culture and the environment. For example, tourists may vandalize historical sites or damage natural landscapes, causing irreversible damage to local culture and the environment. Therefore, we should encourage tourists to respect local culture and the environment and behave civilized while abroad. This can be achieved through education and awareness-raising campaigns, as well as the implementation of stricter laws and regulations to punish uncivilized behavior. By doing so, we can ensure that tourism is sustainable and enjoyable for everyone involved.。

While tour operators and department stores from New York to Paris court Chinese visitors to boost their coffers, one of the country's top leaders has warned that ill-behaved tourists are damaging the national image.
Wang Yang, one of China's four deputy prime ministers, said that while other countries had welcomed Chinese tourism, the quality of some travellers was not high.
He said: "They speak loudly in public, carve characters on tourist attractions, cross the road when the traffic lights are still red, spit anywhere and [carry out] some other uncivilised behaviour. It damages the image of the Chinese people and has a very bad impact."
Wang told a government meeting that officials should guide tourists "to consciously obey social and public order and social morality, respect the local religions and customs, pay attention to their words and behaviour in the public, especially in the international environment, protect tourism resources and protect the environment", Xinhua, the state news agency, reported. Wang said tourists should be ambassadors for China's image.
Wang's complaint about graffiti may have been inspired by a domestic incident: there was anger recently when a vandal carved "Liang Qiqi was here" into a relic at Beijing's Forbidden City.
Chinese people made 70m overseas trips in 2011, according to the World Tourism Organisation, which predicted the annual total would rise to 100m by the end of the decade. That figure included trips to Hong Kong and Macau, run under the "one country, two systems" framework.
Though on average they spend less than their western counterparts, their sheer number means that China has become the highest-spending nation for outbound tourism. Its tourists spent $102bn (£67bn) overseas last year, compared with the $84bn that German and US tourists spent, according to the UN World Tourism Organisation.
Chinese tourists have raised concerns about the behaviour of their hosts, too – including a lack of language skills and poor planning in South Korea to bullying guides in Hong Kong, the lack of hot water inItalian hotel rooms and the UK's "unfriendly" visa system. Britain promised this week that it would try to simplify visa applications.
According to Visit Britain, the UK has seen a 39% rise in visits from China over the past five years. It welcomed 150,000 Chinese visitors last year, who between them spent £240m.
