(3分)∴⎩⎨⎧Δ=a 2-8>0x 1+x 2=a 2>0x 1·x 2=12>0,∴a >22, ∴函数f (x )既有极大值又有极小值的充要条件是a >2 2.(6分)(2)f ′(x )=-2x +a -1x ,令g (x )=2x +1x ,则g ′(x )=2-1x 2,g (x )在[12,22)上递减,在(22,2]上递增.(8分)又g (12)=3,g (2)=92,g (22)=22,∴g (x )max =92,g (x )min =2 2.(10分)若f (x )在[12,2]单调递增,则f ′(x )≥0即a ≥g (x ),∴a ≥92.若f (x )在[12,2]单调递减,则f ′(x )≤0,即a ≤g (x ),∴a ≤2 2.所以f (x )在[12,2]上单调时,则a ≤22或a ≥92.(13分)20. (1)∵a n +1=f (a n )=a n 1+a n ,∴1a n +1=1+a n a n =1a n +1,即1a n +1-1a n=1,∴{1a n }是以2为首项,1为公差的等差数列. ∴1a n =2+(n -1),即a n =1n +1.(3分) (2)证明:∵a n +1≤a n 1+a n ,a n >0,∴1a n +1≥1+a n a n ,即1a n +1-1a n≥1.当n ≥2时,1a n -1a 1=(1a 2-1a 1)+(1a 3-1a 2)+…+(1a n -1a n -1)≥n -1,∴1a n ≥n +1,∴a n ≤1n +1. 当n =1时,上式也成立,∴a n ≤1n +1(n ∈N *),∴b n =a n n +1≤1(n +1)2<1n (n +1)=1n -1n +1, ∴b 1+b 2+…+b n <(1-12)+(12-13)+…+(1n -1n +1)=1-1n +1<1.(8分)(3)∵a 1=12,a 2=g (a 1)=45,a 2-a 1=45-12=310>0.又∵a n +1-a n =2a n +12+a n -2a n -1+12+a n -1=3(a n -a n -1)(a n +2)(a n -1+2),由迭代关系可知,a n +1-a n >0,∴a n ≥a 1=12. 又∵(2+a n )(2+a n -1)=(2+2a n -1+12+a n -1)(2+a n -1)=5+4a n -1≥7, ∴3(2+a n )(2+a n -1)≤37, ∴|a n +1-a n |=3(2+a n )(2+a n -1)|a n -a n -1|≤37|a n -a n -1|, ∴|a n +1-a n |≤37|a n -a n -1|≤(37)2|a n -1-a n -2|≤…≤(37)n -1|a 2-a 1|=310(37)n -1.(13分)。

He may say he doesn't care, andeven act in ways that are opposite of cool on purpose. But ultimately, these are simply ways to handle sadness by pretending it's not there.Helping a child feel better in school had to be careful. If you say, "Why are you worried aboutwhat other children think about you? It doesn't matter!" children know that it does matter. Instead,an active way may be best. You could say, "I'm going to do a couple of things for you to help youfeel better in school."If a boy is having trouble making friends, the teacher can help him. The teacher can arrangethings so that he has chances to use his abilities to contribute to class projects. This is how theother children learn how to value his good qualities and to like him. A teacher can also raise a child's popularity in the group by showing that he values that child. It even helps to put him in a seat nextto a very popular child, or let him be a partner with that child in activities, etc. There are things that parents can do at home, too. Be friendly when your child brings othershome to play. Encourage him to invite friends to meals and then serve the dishes they consider "super".When you plan trips, picnics, movies, and other shows, invite another child with whom your child wantsto be friends. What you can do is to give him a chance to join a group that may be shutting him out. Then,if he has good qualities, he can start to build real friendship of his own.56. A child who has been informed of being "uncool" may ________.A. care nothing about itB. develop a sense of angerC. do something uncool purposelyD. pretend to get hurt very much57. By taking him to have picnics in the park.59. Which of the following is TRUE?A. Children doesn't care others' comments on them.B. It's only teacher's work to make children popular.C. Parents should take their children out for picnic and shows more often.D. Inviting children's friends to family activities is good for them to make friends.60. The passage mainly talks about ________.A. how to help an unpopular childB. why some children are unpopularC. who is responsible for unpopular childrenD. how to find out good points of unpopular childrenBSHANGHAI--Partly because of a string of malfunctions and the July 23 train crash in Wenzhou, the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway was not as popular in its first month of operation as many had expected. In a news release on Monday, the Ministry of Railways said the railway had transported 5.26 million passengers from July 1 to July 31, or 170,000 passengers a day on average. And an average of 179 trains including both those that run at 200 km/h and at 300 km/h trains - were on the line every day, and the trains had an occupancy rate (上座率) of 107%, the ministry said. To many who traveled, that last figure no doubt seems puzzling. How, after all, could carriages that were often half empty have been 107% occupied? Zhao Jian, professor at Beijing Jiaotong University, said the figure is not a good reflection of reality. He accounted for it by noting that a seat aboard one of the trains would be said to have a 200% occupancy rate if one passenger had sat in it from Beijing to Tianjin and then another passenger had occupied the same seat from Suzhou to Shanghai. Despite the impressiveness of those figures, travelers will find, perhaps to their surprise, that they will have little trouble buying tickets to ride the 1,318-km-long high-speed rail line. By 7:30 pm on Monday, passengers could still buy 754 second-class tickets and 148 first-class tickets for a high-speed train that is to leave from Shanghai for Beijing on Tuesday afternoon, according to the China Railway Customer Service Center's website. The train contains 1,066 seats. The story was different for those who want to travel by air between Shanghai and Beijing. Luo Zhuping, board secretary of China Eastern Airlines, said seats on the company's flights on that route are selling well: 90 percent of them continue to be occupied. The situation was different in the first week after the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed train began operating on the last day of Junc. The airline then saw the number of travelers using its service fall by 20 percent and began offering generous discounts to draw in more passengers. Few such incentives are being given now, he said. Still, passengers have not totally abandoned high-speed rails in the days following the Wenzhou train crash, which has killed 40 passengers and injured 191.61. Which of the following is NOT true about the Beijing-Shanghai high-speed train?A. It began operating on June 30th.B. There are trains that run at different speeds.C. An average of 179 trains were on the line every day.D. On average, 5.26 million passengers take it a day in July.62. What made many people who traveled puzzled?A. The train's speed.B. The number of the trains.C. The train's occupancy rate.D. The seats number of the train.63. According to Zhao Jian, the occupancy rate of the train is ________.A. unrealB. inaccurateC. unbelievableD. unreasonable64. What can we infer from the words of the board secretary of China Eastern Airlines?A. Airlines offer more discount to attract passengers.B. The high-speed railway has a great impact on airlines.C. Airlines aren't affected by high-speed railway so much.D. The high-speed railway is much more popular than airlines.65. What can we know from the 4th paragraph?A. The distance from Belling to Shanghai is 2018 km.B. Passengers can buy tickets only at 7:30 pm on Monday.C. There is some trouble buying the tickets from Shanghai to Belling.D. There are 754 second-class seats and 148 first-class seats in a train.CPredicting when an earthquake or volcanic eruption will take place is extremely difficult, even with the advanced technological equipment available to modern scientists. There are some people, however, who believe they can sense when a major geological(地质学上的) event is coming. They claim to be "earthquake sensitive".Sensitivity to the earth's movements, according to those who say they have it, is revealed in different ways. Some say they are unusually clumsy and keep dropping things and having small accidents just before a big event. Others suddenly have a strong desire to eat popcorn, and don' t know why. Though it may sound crazy, they say it tells them that a big earthquake is less than 24 hours away. The most common sign of an approaching disaster among earthquake sensitive people is said to be a bad headache. Arguably the first person to connect her own headaches to coming geological events was an American woman called Charlotte, King. She became famous for her prediction of the eruption of Washington's Mr. St. Helens on May 18, 2018, when she was accurate to within 12 minutes of the actual event.King was tested by doctors and scientists and found to possess unusual hearing abilities. She could hear sounds in frequencies that most human beings cannot, and claimed to have been hearing such sounds since66. It is stated in the first paragraph that there may be ________.A. people who are able to detect earthquake activityB. people who are developing new methods of preventing earthquakesC. new machines to help earthquake sensitive people make predictionsD. new machines that will soon be able to accurately predict earthquakes67. Which of the following is the best title for this passage?A. Charlotte KingB. A magical abilityC. Human vs MachineD. Earthquake and volcanic eruption68. Which of the following is NOT mentioned as a sign of an approaching earthquake?A. A very loud noise.B. A painful headache.C. An urge to eat popcorn.D. A tendency to drop things.69. Charlotte King became well known because she ________.A. timed an earthquake to within 12 minutesB. correctly predicted a big volcanic eruptionC. can make sounds other people cannot hearD. is smarter than many doctors and scientists70. What enables Charlotte King to predict a geological event?A. The headache.B. The frequency of a sound.C. Her special hearing ability.D. The pitch or rhythm of a sound.PART FOUR WRITING (45 marks)SECTION A (10 marks)Directions: Read the following passage. Complete the diagram by using the information from the passage. Write NO MORE THAN 3 WORDS for each answer.American public education has changed in recent years. One change is that increasing numbers of American parents and teachers are starting independent public schools called charter schools. In 2018, there were no charter schools in the Unite States.Today, more than 2018 charter schools operate in 34 states and the District of Columbia. 575. 000 students attend these schools. The students are from 5 years of age through 18 or older.A charter school is created by groups of parents, teachers and community members. It is similar in some ways to a traditional public school. It receives tax money to operate a number of students. The charter school must prove to local or state governments that its students are learning. These governments provide the school with the agreement, or charter that permits it to operate.Unlike a traditional public school, however, the charter school does not have to obey most laws governing public schools. Local, state or federal governments cannot tell it what to teach. Each school can choose its own goals and decide the ways it wants to reach those goals. Class sizes are usually smaller than in many traditional public schools. Many students and parents say teachers in charter schools can be more creative. However, stateeducation agencies, local education-governing committees and unions often oppose charter schools. They say these schools may receive money badly needed by traditional public schools. Experts say some charter schools are doing well while others are struggling.Congress provided 200 million dollars for establishing charter schools in the 2018 federal budget. But, often the schools say they lack enough money for programs. Many also lack needed space, District officials say they have provided 14 former school buildings for charter education. Yet charter school supporters say officials should try harder to find more space.Directions: Read the following passage. Answer the questions according to the information given in the passage.Although many Chinese students say that their knowledge of English grammar is good, most would admit that their spoken English is poor. Whenever I speak to Chinese students they always say, "My spoken English is poor," However, their spoken English does not have to remain "poor". 1 would like to suggest that there may be some reasons for their problems with spoken English.First, they fail to find suitable words to express themselves due to a limited vocabulary. Obviously the better answer is to expand their vocabulary. However, you can speak with a limited vocabulary, if your attitude is-positive. Others will follow you as long as you use the words that you know.Second, they are afraid of making mistakes. Sometimes they make mistakes when they are speaking because they are shy and nervous. Yet students should remember that their goal should be FLUENCY NOT ACCURACY. Your aim in writing is to be accurate following the rules for grammar and using the right words and spelling them correctly. However, in speaking, your aim is fluency. You want to get your message across, to talk to someone in English as quickly and well as you can even though sometimes you may use a wrong word or tense. But it doesn't matter because the person you are speaking to will understand you and make allowances for any mistakes he hears. The third reason is that not enough attention is paid to listening. You have one mouth but two ears! All that hearing is necessary for you to start speaking.Fourth, most Chinese students are reactive rather than proactive language learners. Instead of actively seeking out opportunities to improve their spoken English they passively wait for speaking opportunities to come to them and wonder why their English always remains poor. If you have this proactive outlook, then; you will see English opportunities wherever you go.If you do not use your English beyond the classroom you will forget that English you know. Remember: USE IT OR LOSE IT! You can learn how to speak English better by speaking English more.81. According to the passage, what do many Chinese students think of their English?(No more than 12 words) (3 marks)82. Why can't some Chinese students find suitable words to express themselves? (No more than 6 words) (2 marks)83. According to the writer, what should be the goal when you talk with others in English? (No more than 1 word) (2 marks)84. That was 5.7 times more than in 2015, when WeChat first disclosed its operational data.Uploading videos on WeChat Moments, a function that allows users to share their latest whereabouts, has become more widely used, with the number of videos posted multiplying 4.8 times in the past 4 years. As a one-stop solution for Chinese people’s daily lives, We Chat has been able to produce a breakdown of its users’ preferences by age group. Those born in the 1980s for example are followers of news related to state and public affairs, whereas those younger than 20 spend the most on sweet treats. In line with previous findings, China’s elderly population are becoming adept at using WeChat as a means of communication and conducting errands (办差事). As of September 2018,over 63 million users were registered as 55 years old or above. This group recorded an average length of 11 minutes for video calls, topping all age groups. We Chat Wallet has also registered exponential (指数的) growth, with payments in public transportation and high-speed traffic rising 4.7 times and 6.3 times, separately. Spending in retail stores and dining via WeChat rose by 1.5 times and 1.7 times. The number of users who use the app for making medical appointments and paying bills almost tripled.4.Which of the following is closer to the truth according to the passage?A.The number of videos posted has declined in the past 4 years.B.The users’ preferences for WeChat can be various by age group.C.Downloading videos on WeChat Moments is widely banned officially.D.The number of users’ spending in retail s tores and dining via WeChat will be doubled. 5.From what column on a certain website is the above passage most probably taken? A.VIDEOS B.ADVERTISINGC.BUSINESS D.CAREER DEVELOPMENT 6.What does the underlined word “adept” in the last paragraph roughly mean? A.disappointed B.inexperiencedC.surprised D.skilled7.What is the passage mainly concerned about accordingly?A.Video use continues to rise sharply on WeChat.B.WeChat video calls are more frequently used by those younger than 20.C.The post-80s are more likely fond of public affairs as well as sweet treats.D.Making medical appointments and payments on We Chat will be more convenient.Like“ Titanic(1997)” and another record- breaking“ Avatar(2009)”, the very first film to hit one billion yuan at China’s box office, both directed by James Cameron, American films are an unavoidable part and hold plenty of appeal for Chinese film-goers, including me. However, while American movies have gained great influence in China and become part of everyday popular culture, Chinese films have failed to win an equal amount of recognition in the U.S. market.Hollywood, known as a remarkable film production center, exported the biggest number of mainstream movies around the globe. Both its marvelous storytelling techniques and smooth production process have made it the most successful film industry in the world, gaining globalacceptance. It has its own standards about the scriptwriting format throughout its filmmaking process while China has no such. Moreover, in Hollywood, a break during the production period is a must for all crew members whereas most Chinese film crew do not even allow their production team time to rest on the weekend.Besides production, content is another important aspect of Hollywood’s cultural exportation. The United States is known as a melting pot, as it is a country of immigrants. Its culture, in a way, is more diversified than others’. And we can see an increased diversity in Hollywood movies over the years, especially since 2000. For example, in 2017, Hollywood blockbuster (大片) “Coco (2017)” tells the story of a Mexican boy who dreams of being a musician. Full of elements of the Mexican culture, the movie caused a global fever for Mexican music at the time. It also achieved great results in China, ranking as the 10th highest grossing (最高票房) film in the country in 2017, with the box office being over one billion yuan.In contrast, China’s highest grossing film of 2017, “Wolf Warrior 2”, despite having created a new record in the country’s box office, did not get too much attention in the U. S. market. In fact, there is hardly any Chinese movie that has become a blockbuster in foreign markets. One of the reasons may be that most Chinese films only tell domestic stories with strong domestic elements, which is not wrong but makes it hard to attract foreign viewers due to the narrow themes. While seeking to tell Chinese stories that are able to gain global popularity is still a question for Chinese filmmakers, fortunately, the technical aspect in the Chinese film industry has been improving thanks to the abundant cash flow in the market. When that day comes, more people will get a chance to learn more about China, one of the most beautiful places on the planet, which reminds me of the famous quote f rom “The Shawshank Redemption (1994)”, “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things. D.Indifferent.Research shows that splashing the cash can increase feelings of pleasure-but it depends on who you spend it on. According to a growing body of evidence, it seems that it can. But what makes us really happy is not buying ourselves the latest iPhone, but splashing our cash on other people. In a study published last week, looking at the link between generosity and happiness, researchers from Zurich University divided 50 participants into two groups and asked them to publicly promise how they would spend a monthly donation. One group was asked to spend 25 Swiss francs a week on gifts or outings for other people, and the second group was asked to spend it on themselves.Levels of happiness were measured on a subjective scale before and after the commitment. Those in the first group who promised generously increased their happiness more than the group who planned to buy themselves treats.Participants then underwent an MRI scan to see which bits of the brain were the most active during generous acts. During the scan, participants were asked to work out how they would like to spend money on a person of their choice. Some of the choices involved participants having to pay extra out of their own pocket to give a gift. For example, they were told they would have to pay 20 francs in order for the receiver of their generosity to get 15 francs. There is a part of the brain—the temporo-parietal junction (头顶骨结合点)—that neuroscientists say is associated with generosity,as well as one linked with happiness—the ventral striatum (脑纹状体). When people made generous decisions in this study, both areas of the brain showed increased activity. The researchers conclude that their findings have important implications for all of us.It is human nature, the evidence shows, to be generous, although, when asked in surveys, we assume that self-interest is a stronger emotion. But, it turns out, such self-interest doesn’t make us nearly as happy as giving to others. Studies in which people have been given envelopes of money to spend show that those who spent a proportion of it on a gift, or gave some to charity, felt happier than those who spent it on a present for themselves or a bill they needed to pay. A study of young children found that even toddlers (学步小孩) felt happier giving rather than getting treats. Other studies show that volunteering increases happiness.Research looking at survey data from 136 countries found that spending on others has a “consistent, causal impact on happiness.” This was true across a range of cultures and economies. The best news is that you don’t have to give much to feel the benefits. And it is morally fine to give only because it makes you happier.12.Why do the researchers from Zurich University divide 50 participants into two groups? A.To stress how important feeling happy is.B.To check whether they will donate generously.C.To show how to splash our cash on other people.D.To look at the connection between generosity and happiness.13.What do the words “important implications” in the last sentence of Paragraph 3 refer to? A.To be generous is human nature.B.It’s hard for people to make generous decisions.C.To be generous doesn’t make one happy as expected.D.Bits of the brain have nothing to do with generosity.14.What message does the passage mainly convey?A.Getting treats is more delightful than giving for toddlers.B.Whoever spends money on others can be truly depressed or feel gloomy.C.Whoever is a giver of a gift or to a charity will morally feel more cheerful.D.A gift can be anything but beneficial for the giver as well as the receiver.15.Which of the following can be the most suitable title for the text?A.Can money buy you happiness?B.What is the quality of personal relationships?C.What is the purpose of undergoing an MRI scan?D.How to balance self-interest and encourage generosity?二、七选五It doesn’t take much to break a student budget-accommodation costs can do it before term even starts. Due to unrealistic costs and lack of money-management skills, many students face and experience some degree of financial stress or hardship. The following steps can help you get back on track.16.First, list everything you need to pay for over the next few months, from rent and bills to bus fares, laundry costs and your TV licence. The more detailed, the better. Next, reorder the list by importance. Essential items should be at the top.Predict the problems. The trouble with running out of cash is that it has consequences, and it’s better to know what they are. It could mean no ready-made lunches for a while, or cutting back on transport costs. This is an opportunity to find free alternatives, spot ways to save cash, or mentally prepare to go without. Some course or home expenses are harder to hide. 17..Talk to the right people. 18.Get in touch as soon as possible. Ask your uni’s student money advisor about budgeting, hardship funds or specialist support. The welfare office or your GP can advise if money worries affect your diet, sleep or mental health. Keep your course tutor informed, too. Talking can help relieve stress.19.If you don t have a plan for spending it, extra cash won't be the magic bullet you expect. Doing the steps above first will help you see the bigger picture, and can lead you to appropriate funding. If you have a job, extra shifts may help. You can also shift any unloved clothes, books and gadgets (小玩具) for cash.Borrow wisely. You may need to borrow money to get by, but always try to take the best option for your finances and wellbeing. Family or university loans are safer, so investigate them first. 20.If y ou’re not on top of your finances, get advice before using them, especially before talking commercial or payday loans. However you borrow, compare the total cost with interest, along with charges or consequences for late repayment. Plan how you’ll repay th e money as soon as possible and consider how that will affect your other finances.A.Find extra income.B.Consider costs first.C.Improve your money skills.D.Spend your funding appropriately.E.There are people out there who can help you cope.F.The next step will help figure out how to cope with them.G.Credit cards have their benefits, but also more potential for extra costs.三、完形填空As a teenager in the 1960s, growing up in suburbs south of Boston, I fell under the control of the very pleasantly 21 mysteries of the Chinese language. The sea ice area has dropped to one of the lowest levels on record, climate scientists reported last week.“The new Arctic Report Card tells a story of widespread and continued effects of a warming Arctic,”said Jackie Richter-Menge of the US’s Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory.“This isn’t just a climatological (气候学的) effect. It impacts the people that live there,”she added.Scientists concerned about global warming focus on the Arctic because that is a region where the effects are expected to be felt first, and that has been the case in recent years. There was a slowdown in Arctic warming in 2019,but in the first half of 2019 warming was near a record pace. The monthly readings were over 4 degrees Celsius above normal in northern Canada, according to the report card. The report card was prepared by 69 researchers in eight countries.Researchers said last winter’s big snow storms that struck some Northern countries were tied to higher Arctic temperatures.“Normally the cold air is bottled up in the Arctic,” said Jim Overland of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. “But last December and February, winds that normally blow west to east across the Arctic were instead bringing the colder air south,” he said.“As we lose more sea ice... warming in the atmosphere can create more of these winter storms,” Overland said. There is a powerful connection between ice cover and air temperatures,Richter-Menge explained. When temperatures warm, ice melts. When ice melts it shows darker surfaces underneath ,which absorb more heat. “That,in turn, causes more melting and on the cycle goes,” she said.In September the Arctic sea ice extent was the third smallest in the last 30 years, added Don Perovich of the US Army Laboratory. He said the three smallest ice covers have occurred in the last four years.56. Scientists care so much about the warming in the Arctic region because .A.the climate in the Arctic doesn’t change muchB.global warming effects are most serious in the Arctic regionC.there has been a major decrease of Arctic warming in recent yearsD.by studying the region they can make predictions about the future impact of global warming57. What does the underlined word “cycle” refer to?A.Ice giving off heat when it melts.B.Higher temperatures bringing more storms.C.The cause and the result of the melting.D.The life of the people living in the Arctic getting worse.59. According to researchers what led to big snow storms attacking some Northern countrieslast winter?A.Higher Arctic temperatures.B.The melting ice.C.The cold wind blowing west to east.D.Cold air bottled up in the Arctic.60. What is the main point of the article?st winter’s big snow-storms.B.Winds in the Arctic region.C.Arctic warming and its possible effects.D.Changes to the life of people living in the Arctic.BPeople with bigger brains ftend to score higher on standardized tests of intelligence, according to new study findings. However, the study author Dr Michael A.McDaniel of the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond emphasized that these findings represent a general trend, and people with small heads should not automatically believe they are less intelligent. For instance,Albert Einstein’s brain was “not particularly large”,McDaniel noted. “There’s some relationship between brain size and intelligence on the average, but there’s plenty of room for exceptions,”he said.Interest in the relationship between brain size and intelligence grew in the1830s,when German anatomist(解剖学家) Frederich Tiedmann wrote that he believed there was “an unquestionable connection between the size of the brain and the mental energy displayed by the individual man”. Since that statement, scientists have conducted numerous studies to determine if Tiedmann’s assertion was,in fact, correct. Most studies have looked into the link between head size and intelligence. More recently, however, researchers have published additional studies on brain size and intelligence, measured using MRI scan(核磁共振成像扫描).For his study,McDaniel analyzed more than 20 studies that looked into the relationship between brain size and intelligence in a total of 1,530 people. The studies showed that on the average, people with larger brain volume tended to be more intelligent. The relationship between brain volume and intelligence was stronger in women than men,and in adults than in children. McDaniel notes in the journal Intelligence.McDaniel is not sure why the relationship was stronger for adults and women. “Other research has shown that women,on the average, tend to have smaller brains than men,but score just as well—if not higher—in tests of intelligence,”he said.McDaniel insisted that the relationship between brain size and intelligence is not a “perfect”one. “One can certainly find lots of examples of smaller-sized people who are highly intelligent,”he said,“But,on the average, the relationship holds.”61. What does the text mainly talk about?A.MRI scans are applied to intelligence.B.On the average,a bigger brain means higher IQ.C.Dr McDaniel did well in his intelligence study.D.Scientists are interested in Tiedmann’s idea.62. By mentioning Albert Einstein, the writer wants to show.A.Albert Einstein was intelligentB.the result of intelligence test was falseC.being hard working is more important than intelligenceD.brain size doesn’t necessarily decide the level of intelligence63. The underlined word“assertion”in Para. 3 probably means“”.A.experimentB.statementC.proofD.demand64. From this passage we know that .A.high blood pressure and heart disease are caused by hatredB.high blood pressure can only be cured by psychology professorsC.without hatred, people will have less trouble connected with blood pressure and heartdiseaseD.people who suffer from high blood pressure and heart disease must have many enemies67. Complete the diagram by using the information for the passage. Write NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer. At a primary school Manning,Carolina,second-grade teacher David Chadwell believed that segregating(隔离) elementary-age boys and girls produces immediate academic improvement—in both genders. “Although this is a tendency,we can teach boys and girls based on what we now know.”“They see differently. Literally,”he begins. Male and female eyesare not organized in the same way,he explains. The composition of the male eye makes it attuned(协调) to motion and direction. “Boys interpret the world as objects moving through space,”he says. “The teacher should move around the room constantly and be that object.”The male eye is also drawn to cooler colors like silver, blue, black, grey, and brown. It’s no accident boys tend to create pictures of moving objects like spaceships, cars, and trucks in dark colors instead of drawing the happy colorful family, like girls in their class. The female eye,on the other hand,is drawn to textures and colors. It’s also oriented toward warmer colors—reds, yellows, oranges—and visuals with more details, like faces. To engage girls,Chadwell says, the teacher doesn’t need to move as much,if at all. Girls work well in circles, facing each other. Using descriptive phrases and lots of color in overhead presentations or on the chalkboard gets their attention.Boys and girls also hear differently. “When someonespeaks in a loud tone, girls interpret it as yelling,”Chadwell says. “They think you’re mad and can shut down.”Girls have a more finely tuned aural structure;they can hear higher frequencies than boys and are more sensitive to sounds. He advises girls’teachers to watch the tone of their voices. Boys’teachers shouldsound matter of fact, even excited.A boy’s autonomic nervous system causes them to be more alert when they’re standing, moving, and the room temperature is around69 degrees. Stress in boys,he says, tends to increase blood flow to their brains,a process that helps them stay focused. This won’t work for girls, who are more focused seated in a warmer room around 75 degrees. Girls also respond to stress differently. When they are exposed to threat and confrontation, blood goes to their guts(内脏),leaving them feeling nervous or anxious.“Boys will rise to a risk and tend to overestimate their abilities,”he says. “Teacherscan help them by getting them to be more realistic about results. Girls at this age shy away from risk, which is exactly why lots of girls’programs began in the private sector. Teachers can help them learn to take risks in an atmosphere where they feel confident about doing so.”Title:Primary students learn 71.David’s belief,Once we segregate elementary-age students, they will have the tendency to learn 72.. As a result,in order that we can make the earth a better place to live for the generations to come, the idea of low-carbon living is more and more popular in the world. How can we live a low-carbon life?First of all, when we go to school or some other places, let’s go by bike or on foot as much as possible instead of going by car. Furthermore, let’s economize on water, paper and electricity. Lastly, using environmentally friendly shopping bags instead of plastic bags will greatly cut down the amount of white garbage globally.Protecting the environment needs the efforts of every one of us and every small effort of us will make a big difference for making the earth a better place.。
