大学英语四级作文记叙文
大学英语四级作文记叙文Reflective Essay on College English CET-4 WritingAs a college student in China, passing the College English Test (CET) has always been a significant milestone in my academic journey. The CET-4, in particular, has been a daunting challenge that has tested my English proficiency and writing skills. In this reflective essay, I will delve into my personal experience with the CET-4 writing exam, the challenges I faced, the strategies I employed, and the valuable lessons I learned throughout the process. The CET-4 writing exam is a crucial component of the overall CET assessment, which evaluates a student's comprehensive English language abilities. The writing section requires candidates to compose a 200-word essay within a limited time frame, typically 30 minutes. The topic of the essay is often related to everyday life, social issues, or academic subjects, and it is essential to demonstrate a solid understanding of the prompt, coherent organization, and well-developed arguments. When I first encountered the CET-4 writing exam, I was filled with a mix of excitement and trepidation. As an English language learner, I had always been passionate about improving my writing skills, but the pressure of the exam and the time constraint made the task seem daunting. In the initial stages of my preparation, I found myself struggling to organize my thoughts, express my ideas clearly, and adhere to the word count requirement. To overcome these challenges, I adopted a systematic approach to my CET-4 writing preparation. First, I devoted a significant amount of time to expanding my vocabulary and familiarizing myself with common grammatical structures and idiomatic expressions. I recognized that a strong command of the English language was crucial for crafting well-written essays that would impress the examiners.Next, I focused on developing a deeper understanding of the typical essay structures and writing techniques required for the CET-4 exam.I studied sample essays, analyzed the use of transitions, and practiced outlining my thoughts before starting to write. This approach helped me to organize my ideas in a logical and coherent manner, ensuring that my essays flowed smoothly and addressed the prompt effectively. One of the most challenging aspects of the CET-4 writing exam wasthe time constraint. Thirty minutes seemed to pass by in the blink of an eye, and I often found myself struggling to complete the essay within the allotted time. To overcome this obstacle, I practiced writing under timed conditions, gradually increasing the speed and efficiency of my writing process. I learned to prioritize the most important points, avoid unnecessary elaboration, and maintain a concise and focused style.Additionally, I recognized the importance of effective time management during the exam. I developed a strategy of allocating a few minutes at the beginning to carefully read and understand the prompt, followed by a brief outline of my essay. This allowed me to organize my thoughts and ensure that I addressed all the key aspects of the topic within the limited time frame. As I continued to practice and refine my CET-4 writing skills, I noticed a significant improvement in my performance. I became more confident in my ability to express my ideas clearly and coherently, and I was able to consistently meet the word count requirement. The feedback I received from my English teachers and peers also helped me to identify areas for further improvement and fine-tune my writing style. One of the most valuable lessons I learned from the CET-4 writing experience was the importance of adaptability and resilience. Duringthe exam, I encountered unexpected challenges, such as unfamiliar topics or unexpected twists in the prompt. Instead of panicking, I learned to remain calm, think critically, and quickly adjust my approach to address the new requirements. This ability to adapt and think on my feet has proven to be a valuable skill not only in the context of the CET-4 exam but also in my broader academic and professional pursuits. Moreover, the CET-4 writing experience has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the art of written communication. I have come to understand that effective writing is not merely about adhering to grammatical rules and formatting guidelines but rather about conveying a message in a clear, concise, and compelling manner. This realization has inspired me to continue honing my writing skills, even beyond the scope of the CET-4 exam, and to apply these skills in various academic and professional settings. In conclusion, my journey with the CET-4 writing exam has been a transformative experience that has not only tested my English proficiency but also challenged me to grow as a writer and a critical thinker. The strategies I employed, the lessons I learned, and the resilience I developed have all contributed to my overall academic and personal growth. As I move forward, I am confident that the skills and insights I have gained from the CET-4 writing experience will continue to serve me well in my future endeavors.。
reflectivewriting
A semester’english learning has ended up,in the whole semester we have learned how to do a academic writing and deliver a paper presentation.First,I want to talk about academic writing .academic writing can be divided into several parts:abstract ,introduction, conclusion, bibliography etc.Academic writing takes a variety of forms ranging from research proposals and grant applications, journal articles, theses, published books and book chapters, conference papers and other presentations. This resource will focus on the basic writing conventions that cross different kinds of academic texts. In a way, academic writing is like a conversation. When contributing to a good conversation, the aim is to articulate a specific idea, or to report a specific piece of information about the subject of discussion in order to further the understanding of all participants. Effective academic writing, like good conversation, depends upon participants making relevant, direct, concise and respectful contributions. This can be accomplished by attending to writing structure and academic convention.A good structure is accomplished by providing: an introduction with a clear statement of the idea that will be contributed to the discussion; an introduction that provides a clear statement of the order of the points to be discussed as part of the development of this idea; evidence, reasoned debate, data or reflective commentary to support your point; opening and closing paragraphs, and first and last sentences within paragraphs, which carry the main points; signposting and transition sentences that lead the reader from idea to idea; consistent topic order and phrasing that lead the reader from point to point. This resource will outline the structural aspects of academic writing. It will also discuss some basic academic writing conventions to assist you to achieve a direct and assertive style of writing. In order to ensure the reader can follow the key idea within a typically lengthy and complex text, academic writers clearly articulate the central point or finding in the first page or two of their writing. The content in the main body then relates directly to this central point. Diversions from the key point are avoided.Evidence that will support the main idea is organised into unified sections, which are then discussed in a logical order in the main body. The most important information isalways presented first, followed by the next most important, and so on to the least important. Each section is summarised in a key point, which is often stated in the introduction. Each segment of evidence is then taken up in turn in a separate section in the main body of the text in the order in which it was introduced. Within each section, the main point is introduced and concluded in turn in the first and last sentences and paragraphs of the section.Introductions and conclusions of all kinds can be thought about as 'power positions' because they carry the main points. Power positions include the main introduction and conclusion, and the introductions and conclusions within the sections and sub-sections of a document, including the first and last sentences of paragraphs. When constructing a text, it is important to avoid delaying the main point beyond the introductory section, or trailing off at the end of a section without drawing together the main message of that section.Next we learned paper presentation, presentation consist of introduction ,body, conclusion and the finishing touch .on how to give a effective paper presentation,in my eyes we should follow these things below.- Control of time. For most conference presentations, interruptions are not allowed and questions are held until the end.- As a rule of thumb, you should have no more slides than the minutes allowed for the presentation (e.g. 10 slides for a 10 minute presentation), but less is not necessarily better. One idea per slide would be easier for understanding.- show enthusiasm for your topic. Both enthusiasm and boredom are contagious.- As you put up each slide, have in mind the key points you want to make with that slide (one or two points). When you are preparing and designing the presentation, think: “Why is this slide in here?” If you cannot think of an important reason, the slide probably should not be in the presentation.- Speak in short sentences and use easy to understand language. Avoid jargon. If you are a neurophysiologist, think about how you would like a molecular biologist (i.e. a scientist who knows something about neuroscience, but is not an expert in your particular field) to present to you (and vice-versa).- Practice, practice, practice.- With enough practice, you will find that once you are into a presentation, it will flow smoothly (you have already put the work in to create the proper slides and have thoroughly practiced presenting the key points of each slide before you even walked into the room). Thus, the goal is simply to “get started” with the presentation. Once you are started, the nervousness will disappear as you are now “in your familiar zone” (well practiced). A very helpful tip here is to memorize your first one or two sentences. When you get up to speak, these will almost reflexively come out of your mouth and launch you into your presentation.- 95% of the work is done before you even show up to give the presentation:- You have clear slides, with large fonts and minimal clutter.- Those slides are organized along the primary topics discussed above.- You know the key points you want to make with each slide and have practiced - making those points.- You have practiced the entire presentation and worked out any “rough spots”.- Because of this practice, you are confident that the presentation is at the expected time limit, so there is no reason to rush or become concerned with the clock. You can relax and enjoy showing off your grasp of the study and well-polished presentation.By doing these ,i believe we can give a good paper presentation.。

This means avoiding the use of colloquialisms, contractions, and personal pronouns, and instead employing precise and technical vocabulary, as well as a more impersonal tone. Academic writing also emphasizes the importance of citing and referencing sources appropriately, in accordance with established citation styles such as APA, MLA, or Chicago.Another crucial element of academic writing is the development of a clear and coherent structure. This typically involves an introduction that provides background information and states the main thesis or argument, body paragraphs that present and support the key points, and a conclusion that summarizes the main ideas and offers final insights or recommendations. The use of transitional phrases and logical organization is essential in guiding the reader through the progression of the essay or research paper.Effective academic writing also requires the ability to critically analyze and evaluate information from various sources. This involves not only the identification and summarization of relevant facts and findings but also the ability to assess the credibility and reliability of the sources, as well as to identify potential biases or limitations. By engaging in this critical analysis, writers can develop a well-rounded understanding of the topic and construct a persuasive and well-supported argument. In addition to the structural and linguistic aspects of academic writing, there are also important considerations regarding the presentation and formatting of the written work. This includes adherence to specific guidelines for page layout, font size and style, margins, and the inclusion of any necessary visual aids, such as tables, figures, or appendices. Attention to detail in these areas can contribute to the overall professionalism and clarity of the written piece. One of the challenges faced by many individuals when engaging in academic English writing is the need to overcome the influence of their native language and cultural norms. Differences in sentence structure, word choice, and rhetorical conventions can pose significant obstacles, particularly for non-native English speakers. However, with dedicated practice, exposure to academic writing models, and a willingness to adapt to the expectations of the target audience, these challenges can be overcome.Furthermore, the process of academic writing often involves multiple drafts and revisions, as writers refine their ideas, address feedback, and ensure the clarity and coherence of their work. This iterative approach is essential for producing high-quality academic writing, as it allows writers to identify and address any weaknesses or areas forimprovement. In the context of higher education, the ability to write effectively in academic English is crucial for success. University-level assignments, such as research papers, essays, and dissertations, require a strong command of academic writing skills. Students who possess these skills are better equipped to engage with course materials, synthesize information, and articulate their own original ideas and arguments.Beyond the academic realm, proficiency in academic English writing is also highly valued in the professional world. Many organizations, particularly those with an international presence or focus on research and development, require their employees to produce written reports, proposals, or publications that adhere to academic writing conventions. Individuals with strong academic writing skills are often seen as more credible, reliable, and valuable contributors to their respective fields. In conclusion, the importance of academic English writing cannot be overstated. Whether one is a student, a researcher, or a professional, the ability to communicate effectively and persuasively through written expression is a crucial skill that can open doors to new opportunities and contribute to one's overall success. By mastering the conventions and techniques of academic writing, individuals canenhance their critical thinking, research, and communication abilities, ultimately positioning themselves for greater achievements in their academic and professional pursuits.。

In order to earn academic titles, some teachers plagiarize others' academic papers; in order to graduate smoothly, some college students plagiarize others' graduation papers. Everything has its reasons; academic plagiarism is no exception.First, college authorities put too much emphasis on papers while conferring academic titles and graduating students. Second, modern technology makes it unprecedentedly easy to get information and materials. Some plagiarists who are morally corrupt can't resist the temptation and decide to take risks. Third, the system of censorship and penalty are far from being strict, encouraging plagiarism to some extent.Plagiarism causes many bad results. Reflective Journal蔡逸清This term, I had Academic Writing as my last English course during my four years college study life. I reviewed what I had learnt and noted in the whole term and now I am trying my best to pen down my reflective journal about the course. Actually, at the beginning, I was hesitated to take this course concerning writing. Afterwards, I found it useful and not so difficult as my imagination therefore I made up my mind to learn it. I viewed it as a challenge to myself.During the course study, not only did I acquire the knowledge about academic writing, my horizon was also broadened for being exposed to some specific situations. This reflective journal contains my reactions and feelings, including both bad and good aspects of the experience, as well as the conclusion from these experiences. In the end, I am going to come up with my personal action plans such as how to put what I have learnt into practice and what I will do differently in this type of situation next time.Looking back to the whole term, my deepest impressions of this course is informative. Terminologies like genre, cohesion, coherence, paraphrase that were introduced to me were unacquainted, uncommon and difficult to remember so when the teacher was reviewing what had been taught last week I always felt so unfamiliar and I had to turn over my notes. Although this course focused mainly on theory, it also created a platform for us to practice writing and speaking. I consider it is very important for students to speak out bravely rather than placing stress just upon examinations because English is a language used to communicate with others and express one’s thoughts. So another feeling about the course is useful, pushing me to make a presentation and teaching me a lot of terminologies and rules about academic writing, which I might employ when I write essays in the future. To sum up, even if it’s not so interesting, I still feel it is a worthwhile course to study. The experience of learning academic writing benefits me a lot. First of all, it makes me understand clearly some key points I need to pay attention to when writing an article. For example, achieving grammatical and lexical cohesion, as well as achieving coherence is crucial for each essay. It helps combining every part of the essay together and finally shaping the essay as a consistent entirety. Then, the second part of this course teaches us how to make a presentation successfully, giving me a chance to prepare, practice and finally present it before the whole class. When designing the PPT of my presentation, I learnt to take the reaction of audience into consideration, so color and size of the words were both selected carefully to make audience see them more clearly. Besides, I also developed the good habit of reflecting regularly owning to the course. Finally, my carefulness was trained in class and now it has been improved a lot. I still remember the class of ‘documenting your sources’ clearly. That day, our group was the last one to write down the correct order of the bibliography. It seemed as an easy work to finish but the truth is that it really tested my carefulness.Every coin has two sides, and the course is of no exception. Academic writing, just shown like its name, lays stress on contents of academy, far away our daily life. As a result, this course was not so interesting and attractive. Also, the knowledge I acquired in class can hardly be used in other situations. It is limited to the specific situation like writing academic papers. On the other hand, although the course gave us many chances to speak, the students didn’t cherish them. The atmosphere of the class was not lively but a little depressing, so I was worried about speaking in front of others. But now I think the presentation was well-done by me since I had practiced a lot to overcome the fear.In conclusion, from these experiences I learnt what should be contained in an abstract and how to make a presentation in a formal situation. In addition, my habits also got shaped to some extent. As a student, the consciousness of reflecting regularly is of great importance. Reflecting can act as a review of the knowledge. Furthermore, it helps me to find the ways of study truly suitable for me. During reflection, I realized that I had not prepared the presentation very well and had stared on the computer for too much time, ignoring the audiences’ feelings. So for me, it is necessary to prepare fully, practice more and be confident when making a presentation. When it comes to my personal action plans, firstly, I think I should study hard on my major to create chances to write English essays for myself. Until now, I have just written short essays without references and abstract. Therefore, I need to work hard and then I can put what I learnt about academic writing into practice. Before I am capable of writing academic English articles, I plan to employ the knowledge on my Chinese writing, paying attention to the structure, abstract, cohesion, coherence and references. As for the speaking part, I believe practicing more is pretty meaningful to me. To be honest, I am one-hundred percent confident of my English. So every time before I raised hand to answer the question teacher put forward, I always bring a brainstorm to answer the question. When making a presentation, I hardly felt nervous and can easily chill it out. For this reason, I must be very familiar with what I am going to say next time and look at the audiences rather than staring at the computer screen. To make myself calm down and confident, I should also prepare some little cards with key words. Next time, I believe I can do better to make a presentation in both English and Chinese.。
