它们多以名词、短语、简单句出现，其中以短语居多。
这就要求有很高的汉译技巧，因为它们的上下文体现于影片情节中。
常见的英文电影片名翻译方法有：1．直译法这是最常见的译法。
在不违背电影情节、内容及不致引起错误联想的前提下，以生动、形象的译入语再现片名。
如：Snow White and Seven Dwarfs（白雪公主与七个小矮人）；All Quiet On the Westernfront（西线无战事）；Dances With Wolves（与狼共舞）。
但这种形式与内容都可直接对应的作品较少。
因而要在主要精神、具体事实、意境气氛等方面都达到对等，采用直译加意译的方法是完全必要的。
如Ghost（人鬼情未了）；讲述美国苹果电脑公司及微软电脑公司创立者事迹的Pirates Of Sillicon Valley译为“硅谷传奇”。
