2.内容:

When people say “culture”, we think of art and history. But one very famous symbol in American culture is a cartoon. We all know and love the black mouse with two large round ears---- Mickey Mouse. Over 80 years ago, he first appeared in the cartoon Steamboat Willies. When this cartoon came out in New York on November 18, 1928, it was the first cartoon with sound and music. The man behind Mickey was Walt Disney. He became very rich and successful. In the 1930s, he made 87 cartoons with Mickey.

1. Teaching aims

1) Knowledge aims

Students can master new words, such as symbol, culture. Besides, students can understand the whole passage.

2) Ability aims

Students can improve their 4 skills—listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially reading skill. Trough reading training, students can cultivate extensive reading, intensive reading and find information abilities.

3) Emotional aims

Students should know accept the good culture and remove the bad, to make the culture more beautiful and colorful.

Help students to master new words and understand the content of the whole passage.

Help students to put what they’ve learned into practice, and they can communicate with others about cultures in different country.

4. Teaching procedures

Step 1: Lead in

At the beginning of the class, teacher will show a video about Mickey Mouse, and lead the students to talk about him.

Step 2: Pre-reading

1)Teaching new words.

2)Prediction. Students will be guided to guess what they are going

to learn according to the title.

Step 3: While-reading

1) Extensive reading. Students need to read the passage and find the maid idea of the passage.

2) Intensive reading. Students will read the passage intensively, and answer three questions.

3) Reading and speaking. Students will listen to the tape and read after it for the last time.

Step 4: Post-reading

1) Retelling. Students will retell the whole story in pairs.

2) Doing a survey. Students will make a survey about their favorite cartoons in groups.

Step 5: Summary and homework

Teacher lead them to summarize what they have learned in this class.

Homework: Surf on the internet to know more about our traditional culture and write a passage about 60 words.
