2019年11月四级口语自我陈述真题1.The importance of positive thinking积极的重要性With the ever-quickening pace of life and increasing fierce competition, it is universally acknowledged that a growing number of undergraduates have become lazy and passive. It has been one of the most common thing in our daily life and on campus. However, we may encounter with different difficulties and failures everywhere. It is advisable for us to realize that being positive is the key to success, which gives meaning to our life. Regardless of situations, an positive person never loses his hope, as it’s hope that paves the ways for gaining self-confidence. If you ask me the attitude towards being positive,I am eager to convey that positive attitude is the essential part for me to become stronger. One with positive attitude never fails to success.Firstly, the people possessing positive attitude could obtain numerous opportunities in the competition and are more likely to establish themselves intheir prospective careers. It is at these critical times that the attitude of being active, toward difficulty and life in general, eventually determines whether he can turn failure into victory. Once a person stop keeping the attitude of being positive, he can hardly maintain his past glory and survive in this competitive world.A positive person is he or she who never gets discouraged by any state of affairs, but looks at all the factors more positively that in turn leads him or her to bring improvements. He is a person who considers that whatever be the area of trouble, there may be positive or alternative ways through which he can come out from various difficult situations courageously.Regardless of situations, a positive person never loses his hope, as it's hope that paves the ways for gaining self-confidence. In this way, both optimism and confidence lead to achievements. Hardly ever you might have seen negative people who are successful or happy in their life. Rather, they are seen finding difficulties and complaining about their lives always. Therefore, one should have a positive approach in life, rather than, pessimistic. As long as a person stays positive, he remains energetic to deal with complicated situations in a successful manner. On should know the fact that without hope and confidence, nothing can be achieved. So, being positive is as important as making yourself confident, as itpromotes positivity which results in finding different solutions against various hindrances to success.2.The importance of training skilled workers员工技能培训的重要性Confronted with the ever more severe competition in the market, every ambitious enterprise cannot put too much emphasis on skill training for workers. That is because among all the resources a firm possesses, employees, especially those with high quality are the most valuable ones. The more competent the staff is, the stronger a company would be. Besides, skill training could improve the work efficiency of workers, and thus enhance the productivity of the whole company, saving cost and increasing profits. What’s more, with the rapid development of various new technologies, it takes more wits to learn and grasp those new tools to apply them to daily work. And that needs more skillful workers to accomplish, so skill training for workers can not be ignored by any vigorous entrepreneur.3.The effective way to combat distraction如何克服注意力分散Nowadays, distraction has become an extremely hot topic among not only adults but also youngsters. How to overcome distraction? The reasons accounting for it should be put forward in advance? Among the shaping factors, Iwould single out the three ones, such as, lack of schedule, doing less in more time, and keeping brains focused all the time.Hence, there are a number of approaches to reversing distraction and mastering deep work, for example, developing a daily ritual, and setting a specific task. Whichever approach, the key is to determine the length of focus time and stick to it. Firstly, I would like to recommend “deep scheduling”to combat constant interruptions and get more done in less time. Deep work should be scheduled for roughly a week or a month and once the date comes, you should protect the time without doing unrelated things. Secondly, another approach to getting more done in less time without distraction is to rethink how you priorities your day, and especially make a to-do list. Thirdly, you should try to idle your brains because it is indispensable to your brain to have a rest. When your brains switch between being focused and unfocused on a task, they tend to be more efficient.4.The importance of interpersonal skills社交技能的重要性Among all the important skills of human beings, social skills are regarded as the most important. In an information age, communication with others in allwalks of life plays an important role. No wonder that many students are deliberately working on their social skills.Common sense has told us that those who have successful love affairs usually possess excellent social skills. They are good at promoting an easy-going relation with their partners, which naturally result in a romantic affair. The same is true for family life. Good social skills are essential to keep family member on good terms with each other, bringing about a happy family life. Secondly, statistics show that one’s career success depends heavily on his or her social skills. Professional skills are necessary, but without good social skills, a good teamwork is hardly imaginable, which would undoubtedly hinder the full play of professional skills. Examples are not rarely seen from people who are talented and have reached high level of academic development, but have finally come to nothing due to their poor social skills. In conclusion, if we are to lead a happy life and succeed in career, we must improve ourselves in such social skills as the skill in communicating on a feeling level, the skill in developing and using interpersonal relations and so on.5.The benefits of doing exercises运动的好处Just as an old proverb says, happiness lies first of all in health. Good health is the most valuable thing a person can have but one cannot take good health for granted. It is vital to realize that the body needs proper care in order to be healthy. Additionally, everyone hopes to enjoy more happiness in the world. Our body cannot work well unless it receives the proper kind “fuel”, especially in this world full of fierce competitions. Firstly, doing more exercise is beneficial to build our bodies. It helps coordinate the different parts of our bodies when we have sports. Just like smiling, exercise can benefit our organs, which could let the heart beat faster than usual, and then helps enlarge the blood vessels to protect us from heart attacks. Besides, exercise can also contribute to improving our mood. When you do exercise, you move a lot, and you have to be more active. It helps you become more optimistic. What’s more, through doing exercise, we can have many chances to make friends who have common interest with us. In a word, exercise is helpful, important and absolutely necessary.6.The importance of international exchange国际学习交流的重要性International exchange plays a significant role in education. For students, studying in a foreign university is a very beneficial experience for their personal development. They can be exposed to a whole new cultural environment and enjoy the opportunity to learn from world-renowned scholars and professors. Immersed in the English-speaking environment, students’language abilitywould also see a giant leap. The efforts trying to be accustomed to the new life would be a great treasure for the rest of their life. As for universities and colleges, supporting international exchange programs is a good way to enhance the cultural diversity inside the campus and create a more vigorous academic atmosphere. In a word, international exchange is both meaningful to students and institutes of higher education.7.The importance of inner beauty内在美的重要性Beauty has ever been a perpetual and eternal topic in lives among not only women but also men. Everyone holds the awareness of being beautiful, which is a nature of human being. As far as we know, beauty is usually divided into two aspects, that is, external beauty and inner beauty. The former normally indicates appearance, from clothes, making-up and physical feature to bags and decorations. Therefore, there come diversified methods for women and men to pursuit external beauty, which in their mind posts great influences on their lives. By contrast, the latter implies good virtues of a person, such as, kindness, confidence, character, honesty and so on. From my perspective, inner beauty plays a more important role in our daily lives. A good virtue will foster strong effects on people around, make us a popular person and easily tackle problems. Take confidence for example, the spirit of confidence can generate great power to cope with difficulties and harshness, assume frustration and pressure, andtherefore make it easy for people to achieve successes. Inner beauty is eternal and will become increasingly positive and stable in people mind, which is indispensability in the whole life. Hence, it is necessary for everyone to cultivate inner beauty so as to live a promising and colourful life.8.The importance of sharing分享的重要性Generally, sharing refers to giving others what you own for free, aiming to make them live better physically or mentally obtain the same delight you get. To be specific, sharing can occur in our daily trivial affairs. And it is of great importance to our life, which can be stated as follows.First, sharing can help us to make more friends in daily study and work. When we first step into the college gate, we may have come to an unfamiliar city and don’t know anyone. We can’t meet and talk with our childhood friends directly as before. At this time, we can make acquaintance with new friends by simply start sharing some delicious food with our roommates or other things. Secondly, through sharing, we can also broaden our vision, for example, learning instant message or news in more rapid way. Being in the era of technology, the sharing can be easily achieved by all kinds of online chatting tools. Last but not least, sharing can satisfy our spiritual needs and bring the pleasure which sometimes cannot be bought by money. For example, when we have some old articles orcloses which we don’t like any more, we can donate them to those in need. This behaviour of charity is typical of sharing. In summary, sharing is both a manifestation of our trust in the process of interpersonal communication and a bridge to help further enhance the friendship.9.The role of pets in the family动物在家庭的角色As for the role of pets in our family, psychologists have conducted a series of experiments to determine the role that pets play in improving happiness in our daily life. As the competition becomes more and more fierce, people always shoulder great pressure and endure different difficulties and dilemmas. An increasing number of people choose to feed pets as a better way to diffuse pressure, which could contribute to the harmonious family atmosphere. Compared with those without pets, pets owners could receive as much support from their pets as they did family members. What’s more, we, only-child generation, always attach more importance to study and work, neglecting the feeling and emotion of the elder, which does exert harmful influence on the relationship between family members. With the company of pets, the elder could enjoy more joy and avoid the feeling of being lonely. With the coming of boom in aging population, the Chinese have been experiencing a pet boom in recentyears and it can be predicted that the role of pets in family will become more and more vital.10.How to spend leisure time如何度过闲暇时间As a student, I have relatively more leisure time. As a girl/boy who always feels like full of energy, I have many ways to make the best of the spare time. Since I like being with my friends, I would call three or four friends to my home to have a meal together and play some electronic sports. If I am alone, sometimes I would to go to gym to work out. I am obsessed with the thrill exercise brings to me. I can also be a quiet guy. I like watching classic American movies. The music, the beautiful natural scenes seem have a special charm to me which could make me forget the passing of time.2019年11月六级口语自我陈述真题1.Ways to be trusted by others如何赢得别人的信任Being in the social network, everyone must face the interpersonal communication and connection everyday, for which mutual trust is so necessary and beneficial. So how can we obtain trust from others?First, we can only be trusted when we treat others sincerely and do what we promise to do. No one will trust you if you are a dishonest man or do nothing consistent with your words. Just as the little boy in the fairy tale The Wolf Is Coming, when he has lied for three times, no one will take his words as truth. Second, we must be equipped with the skills to attain our aims. Although we indeed love to help others, we cannot offer real assistance to them without ability. So the most necessary method is to be stronger and more excellent, so that we can do something for others without putting much pressure on ourselves. That is to say, when you have a thousand yuan, you can easily donate one hundred to the poor one, but nobody will believe that you can give him all of your money if you just own hundred.Above all, as far as I am concerned, in order to be a trustworthy person, we should conduct well in both mentality and real capacity, each of which should not be neglected.2.智能手机Nowadays, with the rapid development of science and technology, smart phones gradually appear in our lives. Indeed, smart phones make our life more convenient, for instance, we can install all kinds of applications on our smart phones for communication, entertainment, payment and accessing up-to-date news and so on. As for me, I often use my smart phone to shop online, pay for my goods and search for learning materials, which greatly saves my time and simplifies some complicated procedures, and with the time saved, I can do more things which I like. However, just asevery coin has two sides, smart phones are no exception. The overuse or the addiction to smart phones tend to exert a negative impact on our life. Therefore, we should manage our time on smart phones properly. Generally speaking, I often set a time period for myself every day, such as two or three hours, and I usually use smart phones when it is necessary or on my spare time. I believe that smart phones would bring great possible advantages for us if used properly.3. How to manage stress如何应对压力When it comes to the stress, some people are afraid of stress. They think that the stresses and strains of work leads to their less joy and happiness. Particularly, students in expanding number begin to be confused about how to cope with the stress of exam. In their view, stress does harm to them both physically and mentally. Based on the survey conducted by Chinese Academic Research, a majority of college students admit that they are confronted with various pressure which makes them puzzled. Here are some critical methods and strategies to deal with the stress. In the first place, playing sports can exert a positive impact on the aspect of relieving heavy stress. As a consequence, those faced with press can do more exercise to relax themselves. In the second place, taking a positive and optimistic attitude towards life plays an indispensable role in our personal growth and future career. From another perspective, when you are in trouble and feel helpless, please take a positive attitude and effective measures to solve those thorny problems. The last but not the least, when you areconfronted with enormous stress of exam, I, without reservation, suggest that you should take instant actions. Namely, action speaks louder than words, if you are devoted to the course of preparing for the exam and make progress step by step, you can face the exam in a positive manner. In a word, we should take a correct and objective attitude towards to stress, particularly the stress of exam. I harbor that we can overcome it with longstanding efforts.4.The importance of cooperation合作的重要性Traditionally, it was generally accepted to work alone as proof of one's strength. But now with the ever-quickening pace of life and increasing fierce competition, team spirit is indispensable for the development of an enterprise or an individual. It is often said that "people are united and Mount Tai is moved". As long as all members are able to get along well and communicate with each other, their work can move forward better. The details about the importance of cooperation can be listed as follows.First and foremost, in our daily work or study, we often encounter many problems that cannot be solved by our own ability. At this time, teamwork is very important. With the help of the team, these problems can be solved easily and quickly, which can improve work efficiency. In addition, through team cooperation, it also provides employees with the opportunity to get along with colleagues, which is conducive to the cultivation of tacit understanding between employees, which can create a friendly and pleasant working environment for the promotion of later work.In a word, teamwork is very important, and no one can survive alone. They have to rely on others in some ways. Moreover, I believe that in modern society, teamwork is so essential that more and more companies require teamwork spirit. So we should also cultivate this spirit of teamwork in advance, so that we can adapt to the company and develop in an all-round way in the future.5.The most difficult course at collegeThere are many courses in my college. But the most difficult and the most impressive course is Japanese. Before I entered the college, I thought it is easy to learn Japanese well --just like learning English. But actually, things were not as simple as I thought. At first I even can not read a sentence for it’s not easy to remember the pronunciation of words. It was extremely time-consuming and challenging to memorize rare words and distinguish words similar to Chinese. At that time, I particularly admired those students in agronomy or pure biology for they don't have to memorize words and grammar. But everything is changed since I met professor Smith. He told us to dive into the culture behind the language first before memorizinggrammar, taking exams and pursuing high scores. At that moment, I understood what the original intention of language learning was. So I did as what he said, and I really got great progress in Japanese. So Japanese is the most difficult yet most impressive course in my college life.6.图书馆在大学的作用Academic learning exerts a positive impact on personal growth and future career to any college students. As a result, we cannot deny the role and function of the library in any university. The first function flashing in my mind is that the library provides us with a better environment and create an excellent atmosphere where college students can study more knowledge. Next to this, there are a lot of books, novels and the like which play a crucial role in the process of studying. Students who would like to make great progress can have a good taste of these book to enrich their life and expand the scope of knowledge. Finally, college students can share their various views in the library. When strange or different elements come together, we will have fresh perspectives and divergent ways of thinking.7.如何看待二手书When it comes to second-hand book, different people’s view varies from one to another. From my perspective, second-hand book is indispensable to academic learning, which should not be ignored by the young generation. On the one hand, reading second-hand book is a practical action of preserve the valuable resources. Thatis to say, papers in old books are made of wood. If we don’t reuse old books. we will waste much forest resource. On the other hand, it is a way of saving money. After all, it is expensive to buy a delicate book. Finally, the package of book is not we should focus on, but the knowledge in it. You will make great progress by acquiring more knowledge.以上就是英语趣配音为各位大学生分享的英语四六级口语考试部分真题。

It sets a new bar for similar initiatives across the county. It is proof that taxes on sugary drinks can win substantial support outside super-liberal areas. Until now, the only city to successfully pass and implement a soda tax was Berkeley, Califomia, in 2014.The tax will apply to regular and diet sodas, as well as other drinks with added sugar, such as Gatorade and iced teas. It's expected to raise $410 million over the next five years, most of which will go toward funding a universal pre-kindergarten program for the city. While the city council vote was met with applause inside the council room, opponents to the measure, including soda lobbyists made sharp criticisms and a promise to challenge the tax in court.“The tax passed today unfairly singles out beverages-including low- and no-calorie choices”, said Lauren Kane, spokeswoman for the America n Beverage Association. “But most importantly, it is against the law. So we will side with the majority of the people of Philadelphia who oppose this tax and take legal action to stop it. “An industry backed anti- tax campaign has spent at least S4 million on advertisements. The ads criticized the measure. characterizing it as a “grocery tax.”Public health groups applauded the approved tax as a step toward fixing certain lasting health issues that plague Americans. “The move to recapture a small part of t he profits from an industry that pushes a product that contributes to diabetes, obesity and heart disease in poorer communities in order to reinvest in those communities will sure be inspirational to many other places”, said Jim Krieger, executive director of Healthy Food America. Indeed, we are already hearing from some of them. “It's not just Berkeley anymore.”Similar measures in California's Albany, Oakland, San Francisco and Colorado's boulder are becoming hot-button issues Health advocacy groups have hinted that even more might be coming46. And the problem is growing. With costs falling and kitchen appliances becoming “status" items, owners are throwing away microwaves after an average of eight years. This is pushing sales of new microwaves which are expected to reach 135 million annually in the EU by the end of the decadeA study by the University of Manchester calculated the emissions of co2-the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change-at every stage of microwaves, from manufacture to waste disposal. “It is electricity consumption by microwaves that has the biggest impact on th e environment," say the authors. The authors also calculate that the emissions from using 19 microwaves over a year are the same as those from using a car. According to the same study, efforts to reduce consumption should focus on improving consumer awareness and behaviour . For example, consumers could use appliances in a more efficient way by adjusting the time of cooking to the type of food. However, David Reay, professor of carbon management, argues that, although microwaves use a great deal of energy, their emissions are minor compared to those from cars. In the UK alone, there are around 30 million cars These cars emit more than all the microwaves in the EU. Backing this up, recent data show that passenger cars in the UK emitted 69 million tons of CO2 in 2015. This is 10 times the amount this new microwave oven study estimates for annual emissions for all the microwave ovens in the EU. Further, the energy used by microwaves is lower than any other form of cooking. Among common kitchen appliances used for cooking, microwaves are the most energy efficient, followed by a stove and finally a standard oven. Thus, rising microwave sales could be seen as a positive thing.51.What is the finding of the new study?A)Quick-cooking microwave ovens have become more popular.B) The frequent use of microwaves may do harm to our health.C) CO2 emissions constitute a major threat to the environmentD)The use of microwaves emits more CO than people think .52.Why are the sales of microwaves expected to rise?A)They are becoming more affordable.B)They have a shorter life cycle than other appliances .C) They are getting much easier to operate.D) They take less time to cook than other appliances.53. What recommendation does the study by the University of Manchester make?A) Cooking food of different varieties.B) Improving microwave user’s habits.C) Eating less to cut energy consumption.D) Using microwave ovens less frequently.54. What does Professor David Reay try to argue?A) There are far more emissions from cars than from microwaves.B) People should be persuaded into using passenger cars less oftenC) The UK produces less CO than many other countries in the EUD) More data are needed to show whether microwaves are harmful.55. What does Professor David Reay think of the use of microwaves?A) It will become less popular in the coming decades.B) It makes everyday cooking much more convenient.C) It plays a positive role in environmental protection.D) It consumes more power than conventional cooking【参考答案】46-50 D C A D C51-55 C B B A DPart Ⅳ Translation( 30 minutes) Directions: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to translate a passage from Chinese into English. Researchers found that only people who were seated in individual - had a high risk of catching the illness. All other passengers had only a very 28 chance of getting sick according to the findings. One vision of the perfect city of the future: a place that offers easy access to air travel. In 2011, a University of North Carolina business professor named John Kasarda published a book called Aerotropolis: The Way We’ll Live Next. Kasarda says future cities should be built intentionally around or near airports. The idea, as hehas put it, is to offer businesses “rapid, long-distance connectivity on a massive scale.”B)“The 18th century really was a waterborne (水运的)century, the 19th century a rail century. the 20th century a highway, car, truck century一and the 21st century will increasingly be an aviation century, as the globe becomes increasingly conne cted by air,” Kasarda says. Songdo, a city built from scratch in South Korea, is one of Kasarda’s prime examples. It has existed for just a few years.“ From the get-go, it was designed on the basis of connectivity and competitiveness,”says Kasada. “The gov ernment built the bridge directly from the airport to the Songdo International Business District. And the surface infrastructure was built in tandem with the new airport.”C)Songdo is a stone’s throw from South Korea’s Incheon Airport, its main international hub (枢纽). But it takes a lot more than a nearby airport to be a city of the future. Just building a place as an “international business district” doesn’t mean it will become one. Park Yeon Soo conceived (构想)this city of the future back in 1986. He con siders Songdo his baby. “I am a visionary,” he says. Thirty years after he imagined the city, Park’s baby is close to 70 percent built, with 36.000 people living in the business district and 90,000 residents in greater Songdo. It’s about an hour outside Se oul, built on reclaimed tidal flats along the Yellow Sea, There’s a Coast Guard building and a tall trade tower, as well as a park, golf course and university.D)Chances are you’ve actually seen this place. Songdo appears in the most famous music video ev er to come ou of South Korea. “Gangnam Style” refers tothe fashionable Gangnam district in Seoul. But some of the video was filmed in Songdo.“I don’t know if you remember, there was a scene in a subway station. That was not Gangnam. That was actually Song do,” says Jung Won Son, a professor of urban development at London’s Bartlett School of Planning, “Part of the reason to shoot there is that it’s new and nice.”E)The city was supposed to be a hub for global companies, with employees from all over the wor ld. But hat’s not how it has turned out. Songdo’s reputation is as a futuristic ghost town. But the reality is more complicated. A bridge with big, light-blue loops leads into the business district. In the center of the main road, there’s a long line of flags of the world. On the corner, there’s a Starbucks and a 7-Eleven--all of the international brands that you see all over the world nowadays.F)The city is not empty. There are mothers pushing strollers, old women with walkers -- even in the middle of th e day. when it’s 90 degrees out. Byun Young-Jin chairs the Songdo real estate association and started selling property here when the first phase of the city opened in 2005. He says demand has boomed in the past couple of years. Most of his clients are Korean. In fact, the developer says, 99 percent of the homes here are sold to Koreans. Young families move here because the schools are great. And that’s the problem: Songdo has become a popular Korean city 一more popular as a residential area than a business one. It’s not yet the futuristic international business hub that planners imagined. “It’s a great place to live. And it’s becoming a great place to work,” says Scott Summers, the vice president of Gale International, the developer of the city. Thefloor-to-ceiling windows of his company’s offices overlook Songdo Central Park, with a canal full of kayaks and paddle boats. Shimmering (闪烁的)glass towers line the canal’s edge.G)“What’s happened is, because we focused on creating that quality of life first, which enabled the residents to live here, what has probably missed the mark is for companies to locate here,” he says. “There needs to be strong economic incentives.” The city is still unfinished, and it feels a bit like a theme park. It doesn’t feel all that futuristic. There’s a high-tech underground trash disposal system. Buildings are environmentally friendly. Everybody’s television set is connected to a system that streams personalized language or exercise classes.H)But Star Trek this is not. And to some of the residents, Songdo feels hollow. “I’m, like, in prison for weekdays. That’s what we call it in the workplace,” says a woman in her 20s. She doesn’t want to use her name for fear of being fired from her job. She goes back to Seoul every weekend. “I say I’m prison-breaking on Friday nights.” But she has to make the prison break in her own car. There’s no high-speed train connecting Songdo to Seoul, just over 20 miles away.I)The man who first imagined Songdo feels frustrated. too. Park says he built South Korea a luxury vehicle, “like Mercedes or BMW. It’s a good car now. But we’re waiting for a good driver to accelerate.” But there are lots of other good cars out there, too. The world is dotted with futuristic, high-tech cities trying to attract the biggest international companiesJ)Songdo’s backers contend that it’s still early, and business space is filling up—about 70 percent of finished offices are now occupied. Brent Ryan, who teaches urban design at MIT, says Songdo proves a universal principle. “There have been a lot of utopian (乌托邦的)cities in history. And the reason we don’t know about a lot of them is that a lot of them have vanished entirely.” In other words, when it comes to cities—or anything else—it is hard to predict the future.36. Son gdo’s popularity lies more in its quality of life than its business attraction.37. The man who conceives Songdo feels disappointed because it has fallen short of his expectations.38. A scene in a popular South Korean music video was shot in Songdo.39. Songdo still lacks the financial stimulus for businesses to set up shop there.40. Airplanes will increasingly become the chief means of transportation, according to a professor.41. Songdo has ended up different from the city it was supposed to be.42. Some of the people who work in Songdo complain about boredom in the workplace.43. A business professor says that a future city should have easy access to international transportation.44. Acording to an urban design professor, it is difficult for city designers to foresee what happen in the future.45. Park Yeon So. Who envisioned Songdo, feels a parental connection with the city.【参考答案】36-40 FIDGB41-45 EHAJCSection CPassage OneQuestions 46 to 50 are based on the following passage. The fifth largest city in the US passed a significant soda tax proposal that will levy (征税)1.5cents per liquid ounce on distributors.Philadelphia’s new measure was approved by a 13 to 4 city council vote. It sets a new bar for similar initiatives across the county. It is proof that taxes on sugary drinks can win substantial support outside super-liberal areas. Until now, the only city to successfully pass and implement a soda tax was Berkeley, California, in 2014.The tax will apply to regular and diet sodas, as well as other drinks with added sugar, such as Gatorade and iced teas. It’s expected to raise $410 million over the next five years, most of which will go toward funding a universal pre-kindergarten program for the city. While the city council vote was met with applause inside the council room, opponents to the measure, including soda lobbyists made sharp criticisms and a promise to challenge the tax in court.“The tax passed today unfairly singles out beverage s—including low- and no-calorie choices,” said Lauren Kane, spokeswoman for the American Beverage Association. “But most importantly, it is against the law. So we will side with the majority of the people of Philadelphia who oppose this tax and take legal action to stop it.”An industry backed anti-tax campaign has spent at least $4 million on advertisements. The ads criticized the measure. characterizing it as a“grocery tax.”Public health groups applauded the approved tax as a step toward fixing certain l asting health issues that plague Americans. “The move to recapture a small part of the profits from an industry that pushes a product that contributes to diabetes, obesity and heart disease in poorer communities in order to reinvest in those communities wi ll sure be inspirational to many other places,” said Jim Krieger, executive director of Healthy Food America. “Indeed, we are already hearing from some of them. It’s not just Berkeley’ anymore.”Similar measures in California’s Albany, Oakland, San Francisco and Colorado’s Boulder are becoming hot-button issues Health advocacy groups have hinted that even more might be coming.46. What does the passage say about the newly-approved soda tax in Philadelphia?A)It will change the lifestyle of many consumers.B)It may encourage other US cities to follow suit.C)It will cut soda consumption among low-income communities.D)It may influence the marketing strategies of the soda business.47. What will the opponents probably do to respond to the soda tax proposal? A)Bargain with the city council.B)Refuse to pay additional tax.C)Take legal action against it.D)Try to win public support.48. What did the industry-backed anti-tax campaign do about the soda tax proposal?A)It tried to arouse hostile feelings among consumers.B)It tried to win grocers’ support against the measure.C)It kept sending letters of protest to the media.D)It criticized the measure through advertising.49. What did public health groups think the soda tax would do?A)Alert people to the risk of sugar-induced diseases.B)Help people to fix certain long-time health issues.C)Add to the fund for their research on diseases.D)Benefit low-income people across the country.50. What do we learn about similar measures concerning the soda tax in some other cities?A)They are becoming rather sensitive issues.B)They are spreading panic in the soda industry.C)They are reducing the incidence of sugar-induced diseases.D)They are taking away lot of profit from the soda industry.Passage TwoQuestions 51 to 55 are based on the following passage.Popping food into the microwave for a couple of minutes may seem utterly harmless, but Europe’s stock of these quick-cooking ovens emit as much carbon as nearly 7 million cars, a new study has found. And the problem is growing. With costs falling and kitchen appliances becoming “status” items, owners are throwing away microwaves after an average of eight years. This is pushing sales of new microwaves which are expected to reach 135 million annually in the EU by the end of the decade.A study by the University of Manchester calculated the emissions of CO2—the main greenhouse gas responsible for climate change—at every stage of microwaves, from manufacture to waste di sposal. “It is electricity consumption by microwaves that has the biggest impact on the environment,” say the authors. The authors also calculate that the emissions from using 19 microwaves over a year are the same as those from using a car. According to the same study, efforts to reduce consumption should focus on improving consumer awareness and behaviour. For example, consumers could use appliances in a more efficient way by adjusting the time of cooking to the type of food. However, David Reay, professor of carbon management, argues that, although microwaves use a great deal of energy, their emissions are minor compared to those from cars. In the UK alone, there are around 30 million cars. These cars emit more than all the microwaves in the EU. Backing this up, recent data show that passenger cars in the UK emitted 69 million tons of CO2 in 2015. This is 10 times the amount this new microwave oven study estimates for annual emissions for all the microwave ovens in the EU. Further, the energy used by microwaves is lower than any other from of cooking. Among common kitchen appliances used for cooking, microwaves are the most energy efficient, followed by a stove and finally a standard oven. Thus, rising microwave sales could be seen as a positive thing.51. What is the finding of the new study?A)Quick-cooking microwave ovens have become more popular.B)The frequent use of microwaves may do harm to our health.C)CO2 emissions constitute a major threat to the environment.D)The use of microwaves emits more CO2 than people think.52. Why are the sales of microwaves expected to rise?A)They are becoming more affordable.B)They have a shorter life cycle than other appliances.C)They are getting much easier to operate.D)They take less time to cook than other appliances.53. What recommendation does the study by the University of Manchester make? A)Cooking food of different varieties.B)Improving microwave users’ habits.C)Eating less to cut energy consumption.D)Using microwave ovens less frequently.54. What does Professor David Reay try to argue?A)There are far more emissions from cars than from microwaves.B)People should be persuaded into using passenger cars less often.C)The UK produces less CO2 than many other countries in the EU.D)More data are needed to show whether microwaves are harmful.55. What does Professor David Reay think of the use of microwaves?A)It will become less popular in the coming decades.B)It makes everyday cooking much more convenient.C)It plays a positive role in environmental protection.D)It consumes more power than conventional cooking.Part ⅣTranslation中国家庭十分重视孩子的教育。

Yet economic indicators show the world is 26 . Despite a slow start at the beginning of the eighties, global economic output increased by more than a fifth during the 27 . The economy grew, trade increased, and millions of new jobs were created. How can biological indicators show the 28 of economic indicators? The answer is that the economic indicators have a basic fault: they show no difference between resource uses that 29 progress and those uses that will hurt it. The main measure of economic progress is the gross national product (GNP). 30 , this totals the value of all goods and services produced and subtracts loss in value of factories and equipment. Developed a half-century ago, GNP helped 31 a common way among countries of measuring change in economic output. For some time, this seemed to work 32 well, but serious weaknesses are now appearing. As indicated earlier, GNP includes loss in value of factories and equipment, but it does not 33 the loss of natural resources, including nonrenewable resources such as oil or renewable resources such as forests. This basic fault can produce a 34 sense of national economic health. According to GNP, for example, countries that overcut forests actually do better than those that preserve their forests. The trees cut down are counted as income but no subtraction is made for 35 the forests.Part III Reading Comprehension (40 minutes) Section ADirections: In this section, there is a passage with ten blanks. Health experts regularlycriticise them severely for selling food that makes people fat. Critics even complain that McDonald’s, whose logo symbolises calorie excess, should not have been allowed to sponsor the World Cup. These are things fast-food firms have learnt to cope with. But not perhaps for much longer. The burger business faces more pressure from regulators at a time when it is already adapting strategies in response to shifts in the global economy.[B] Fast food was once thought to be recession-proof. When consumers need to cutspending, the logic goes, cheap meals like Big Macs and Whoppers become even more attractive. Such “trading down” proved true for much of the latest recession, when fast-food companies picked up customers who could no longer afford to eat at casual restaurants. Traffic was boosted in America, the home of fast food, with discounts and promotions, such as $1 menus and cheap combination meals.[C] As a result, fast-food chains have weathered the recession better than their moreexpensive competitors. In 2009 sales at full-service restaurants in America fell by more than 6%, but total sales remained about the same at fast-food chains. In some markets, such as Japan, France and Britain, total spending on fast food increased. Same-store sales in America at McDonald’s, the world’s largest fast-food company, did not decline throughout the downturn. Panera Bread, an American fast-food chain known for its fresh ingredients, performed well, too, because it offers higher-quality food at lower prices than restaurants.[D] But not all fast-food companies have been as fortunate. Many, such as BurgerKing, have seen sales fall. In a severe recession, while some people trade down to fast food, many others eat at home more frequently to save money. David Palmer, an analyst at UBS, a bank, says smaller fast-food chains in America, such as Jack in the Box and Carl’s Jr., have been hit particularly hard in this downturn because they are competing with the global giant McDonald’s, which increased spending on advertising by more than 7% last year as others cut back.[E] Some fast-food companies also sacrificed their own profits by trying to givecustomers better value. During the recession companies set prices low, hoping that once they had tempted customers through the door they would be persuaded to order more expensive items. But in many cases that strategy did not work. Last year Burger King franchisees(特许经营人) sued(起诉) the company over its double-cheeseburger promotion, claiming it was unfair for them to be required to sell these for $1 when they cost $1.10 to make. In May a judge ruled in favour of Burger King. Nevertheless, the company may still be cursing its decision to promote cheap choices over more expensive ones because items on its “value menu” now account for around 20% of all sales, up from 12% last October.[F] Analysts expect the fast-food industry to grow modestly this year. But thedownturn is making companies rethink their strategies. Many are now introducing higher-priced items to entice (引诱) consumers away from $1 specials. KFC, a division of Yum! Brands, which also owns Taco Belland Pizza Hut, has launcheda chicken sandwich that costs around $5. And in May Burger King introducedbarbecue (烧烤) pork ribs at $7 for eight.[G] Companies are also trying to get customers to buy new and more items, includingdrinks. McDonald’s started selling better coffee as a challenge to Starbucks. Its “McCafe” line now accounts for an estimated 6% of sales in America. Starbucks has sold rights to its Seattle’s Best coffee brand to Burger King, which will start selling it later this year.[H] As fast-food companies shift from “super size” to “more buys”, they need to keepcustomer traffic high throughout the day. Many see breakfast as a big opportunity, and not just for fatty food. McDonald’s will start selling porridge (粥) in America next year. Breakfast has the potential to be very profitable, says Sara Senatore of Bernstein, a research firm, because the margins can be high. Fast-food companies are also adding midday and late-night snacks, such as blended drinks and wraps. The idea is that by having a greater range of things on the menu, “we can sell to consumers products they want all day,”says Rick Carucci, the chief financial officer of Yum! Brands.[I] But what about those growing waistlines? So far, fast-food firms have cleverlyavoided government regulation. By providing healthy options, like salads and low-calorie sandwiches, they have at least given the impression of doingsomething about helping to fight obesity(肥胖症). These offerings are not necessarily loss-leaders, as they broaden the appeal of outlets to groups of diners that include some people who don’t want to eat a burger. But customers cannot be forced to order salads instead of fries.[J] In the future, simply offering a healthy option may not be good enough. “Every packaged-food and restaurant company I know is concerned about regulation right now,”says Mr. Palmer of UBS. America’s health-reform bill, which Congress passed this year, requires restaurant chains with 20 or more outlets to put the calorie-content of items they serve on the menu. A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research, which tracked the effects on Starbucks of a similar calorie-posting law in New York City in 2007, found that the average calorie-count per transaction fell 6% and revenue increased 3% at Starbucks stores where a Dunkin Donuts outlet was nearby—a sign, it is said, that menu-labelling could favour chains that have more healthy offerings.[K] In order to avoid other legislation in America and elsewhere, fast-food companies will have to continue innovating(创新). Walt Riker of McDonald’s claims the change it has made in its menu means it offers more healthy items than it did a few years ago. “We probably sell more vegetables, more milk, more salads, more apples than any restaurant business in the world,” he says. But the recent proposal by a county in California to ban McDonald’s from including toys in its high-calorie “Happy Meals”, because legislators believe it attracts children to unhealthy food, suggests there is a lot more left to do.46. Some people propose laws be made to stop McDonald’s from attaching toys to itsfood specials for children.47. Fast-food firms may not be able to cope with pressures from food regulation in thenear future.48. Burger King will start to sell Seattle’s Best coffee to increase sales.49. Some fast-food firms provide healthy food to give the impression they are helpingto tackle the obesity problem.50. During the recession, many customers turned to fast food to save money.51. Many people eat out less often to save money in times of recession.52. During the recession, Burger King’s promotional strategy of offering low-priceditems often proved ineffective.53. Fast-food restaurants can make a lot of money by selling breakfast.54. Many fast-food companies now expect to increase their revenue by introducinghigher-priced items.55. A newly-passed law asks big fast-food chains to specify the calorie count of whatthey serve on the menu.Section CDirections:There are 2 passages in this section. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are fourchoices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choiceand mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single linethrough the centre.Passage OneQuestions 56 to 60 are based on following passage. If you think a high-factor sunscreen (防晒霜) keeps you safe from harmful rays, you may be wrong. Research in this week’s Nature shows that while factor 50 reduces the number of melanomas (黑瘤) and delays their occurrence, it can’t prevent them. Melanomas are the most aggressive skin cancers. You have a higher risk if you have red or blond hair, fair skin, blue or green eyes, or sunburn easily, or if a close relative has had one. Melanomas are more common if you have periodic intense exposure to the sun. Other skin cancers are increasingly likely with long-term exposure. There is continuing debate as to how effective sunscreen is in reducing melanomas the evidence is weaker than it is for preventing other types of skin cancer.A 2011 Australian study of 1,621 people found that people randomly selected to apply sunscreen daily had half the rate of melanomas of people who used cream as needed.A second study, comparing 1,167 people with melanomas to 1,101 who didn’t have the cancer, found that using sunscreen routinely, alongside other protection such as hats, long sleeves or staying in the shade, did give some protection. This study said other forms of sun protection not sunscreen seemed most beneficial. The study relied on people remembering what they had done over each decade of their lives, so it’s not entirely reliable. But it seems reasonable to think sunscreen gives people a false sense of security in the sun. Many people also don’t use sunscreen properly applying insufficient amounts, failing to reapply after a couple of hours and staying in the sun too long. It is sunburn that is most worrying recent research shows five episodes of sunburn in the teenage years increases the risk of all skin cancers. The good news is that a combination of sunscreen and covering up can reduce melanoma rates, as shown by Australian figures from their slip-slop-slap campaign. So if there is a heat wave this summer, it would be best for us, too, to slip on a shirt, slop on (抹上) sunscreen and slap on a hat.56. What is people’s common expectation of a high-factor sunscreen?A) It will delay the occurrence of skin cancer.B) It will protect them from sunburn.C) It will keep their skin smooth and fair.D) It will work for people of any skin color.57. What does the research in Nature say about a high-factor sunscreen?A) It is ineffective in preventing melanomas.B) It is ineffective in case of intense sunlight.C) It is ineffective with long-term exposure.D) It is ineffective for people with fair skin.58. What do we learn from the 2011 Australian study of 1,621 people?A) Sunscreen should be applied alongside other protection measures.B) High-risk people benefit the most from the application of sunscreen.C) Irregular application of sunscreen does women more harm than good.D) Daily application of sunscreen helps reduce the incidence of melanomas.59. What does the author say about the second Australian study?A) It misleads people to rely on sunscreen for protection.B) It helps people to select the most effective sunscreen.C) It is not based on direct observation of the subjects.D) It confirms the results of the first Australian study.60. What does the author suggest to reduce melanoma rates?A) Using both covering up and sunscreen.B) Staying in the shade whenever possible.C) Using covering up instead of sunscreen.D) Applying the right amount of sunscreen.Passage TwoQuestions 61 to 65 are based on the following passage.Across the rich world, well-educated people increasingly work longer than the less-skilled. Some 65% of American men aged 62-74 with a professional degree are in the workforce, compared with 32% of men with only a high-school certificate. This gap is part of a deepening divide between the well-educated well-off and the unskilled poor. Rapid technological advance has raised the incomes of the highly skilled while squeezing those of the unskilled. The consequences, for individuals and society, are profound. The world is facing an astonishing rise in the number of old people, and they will live longer than ever before. Over the next 20 years the global population of those aged 65 or more will almost double, from 600 million to 1.1 billion. The experience of the 20th century, when greater longevity(长寿) translated into more years in retirement rather than more years at work, has persuaded many observers that this shift will lead to slower economic growth, while the swelling ranks of pensioners will create government budget problems. But the notion of a sharp division between the working young and the idle old misses a new trend, the growing gap between the skilled and the unskilled. Employment rates are falling among younger unskilled people, whereas older skilled folk are working longer. The divide is most extreme in America, where well-educated baby-boomers(二战后生育高峰期出生的美国人) are putting off retirement while many less-skilled younger people have dropped out of the workforce.Policy is partly responsible. Many European governments have abandoned policies that used to encourage people to retire early. Rising life expectancy (预期寿命), combined with the replacement of generous defined-benefit pension plans with less generous defined-contribution ones, means that even the better-off must work longer to have a comfortable retirement. But the changing nature of work also plays a big role. Pay has risen sharply for the highly educated, and those people continue to reap rich rewards into old age because these days the educated elderly are more productive than the preceding generation. Technological change may well reinforce that shift: the skills that complement computers, from management know how to creativity, do not necessarily decline with age.61. What is happening in the workforce in rich countries?A) Younger people are replacing the elderly.B) Well-educated people tend to work longer.C) Unemployment rates are rising year after year.D) People with no college degree do not easily find work.62. What has helped deepen the divide between the well-off and the poor?A) Longer life expectancies.B) A rapid technological advance.C) Profound changes in the workforce.D) A growing number of the well-educated.63. What do many observers predict in view of the experience of the 20th century?A) Economic growth will slow down.B) Government budgets will increase.C) More people will try to pursue higher education.D) There will be more competition in the job market.64. What is the result of policy changes in European countries?A) Unskilled workers may choose to retire early.B) More people have to receive in-service training.C) Even wealthy people must work longer to live comfortably in retirement.D) People may be able to enjoy generous defined-benefits from pension plans.65. What is characteristic of work in the 21st century?A) Computers will do more complicated work.B) More will be taken by the educated young.C) Most jobs to be done will be the creative ones.D) Skills are highly valued regardless of age.Part IV Translation (30 minutes) Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to translate a passage from Chinese into English. It may not be very famous but I think it's clean and pretty and it even has a square that's almost as big as Tian'an Men.Candidate A: I like reading magazines, especially English learning magazines like English Corner and English Salon. They are fun and they help me to learn as well.Candidate A: Well not for a long time, but I do watch it regularly. I usually watch it just after I have dinner. The best shows come on at that time.Candidate B: I like those historical shows that have a lot of action and fighting. I especially like the Justice Bao shows because they are full of mystery and excitement.Candidate B: I'm currently working here in Beijing. I've been working here for about 5 years.Candidate B: I'm working right now as a manager of a five star hotel here in Beijing. The job mainly involves doing quality checks and keeping on top of events and renovations.Candidate B: I wear a suit, a tie and dress pants. My shoes must always be shiny. When you manage a five star hotel, your appearance must be immaculate from day to day.第2题Interlocutor:Now I'd like you to talk about something between yourselves, but speak loudly so that we can hear you. You should take care to share the opportunity of speaking.(Put the picture for Candidates in front of both candidates and give instructions with reference to the picture.)Talk to each other about China's one-child policy. This picture is for your reference. You have three minutes for this. Would you like to begin now, please?【正确答案】:Candidate A: Do you agree with China's one-child policy? I think that China needs to control its population right now.Candidate B: I disagree with the one-child policy. There are a lot of families who need more than one child in order to take care of their farmlands.Candidate A: But how else can we make China strong and provide enough food and education for all the people?Candidate B: That's a big problem, but the peasants are the ones who are suffering the most because they used to be able to have more than one child to help with the work. In the city, many families only want to have one child anyway.Candidate A: Sounds like an unfair policy. But for now, the government's policy on family planning is necessary.Candidate B: I do hope that this policy will change very soon. Candidate A: Perhaps in the future when our country is more developed, we can allow people to have more children.Candidate B: I hope so.第3题Interlocutor:· I'm going to give each of you a picture and I'd like you to first briefly describe and then give your comment on what you see in the picture. (Put Picture 1 in front of both candidates.)· Candidate A, this is your picture. You have three minutes to talk about it.· Candidate B, listen carefully while Candidate A is speaking. When he/she has finished, I'd like you to ask him/her a question about what he/she has said.· Candidate A, would you like to begin now, please?Candidate A: (Three minutes)Interlocutor:· Thank you. Now, Candidate B, could you please ask your partner a question? (Half a minute for asking and answering the question)(Take back Picture 1 and put Picture 2 in front of both candidates.) · OK, Candidate B, here is your picture. You also have three minutes to talk about your picture.· Candidate A, listen carefully while Candidate B is speaking. When he/shehas finished, I'd like you to ask him/her a question about what he/she has said.· Candidate B, would you like to begin now, please?Candidate B: (Three minutes)Interlocutor:· Thank you. Now, Candidate A, could you please ask your partner a question? (Half a minute for asking and answering the question)· Thank you. That is the end of the test.【正确答案】:C1: At the first sight of this picture we get know that this is the test paper of an elementary school student. We can see so many red crosses on the paper. The student only got 12 marks, while the total mark should be 55. If we see it carefully, we can recognize the answer to the first question given by the student. He thought the Guan Hanqing, Bai Pu, Zheng Guangpu and another person were called "F4". I think all the young people even some adults know who "F4" are: they are four young stars with good looking and fashionable costume styles. They haven't any relations with the names mentioned in the question at all.Seeing this picture, I guess every person would laugh, but what goes after laughing. What happened to our young students, what they have learned, or how much useful knowledge they have already grasped at school for several year? He even doesn't know who Mao Zedong is, no one had expected the student thought Mao was a drama composer. On one hand, we can easily find out the problem in our school education. Teachers pour down mass knowledge to the students without thinking whether the children can understand or master it. This is the so called spoon-feed teaching method, which greatly boring down the students. On the other hand, the other medium brings great impact on those children. They can get information via the TV, the radio, the magazine and the Internet. Although they can find more useful information, there would be still enormous unhealthy influence which surely will make the school-aged children quit their studies.C2: If you were a teacher, what would you do to lead the students to a right way?C2: In this picture, we can see some students read English after their teacher loudly and with all their efforts. From the words in the picture we know they are shouting: We want go to school. That is the first English they learned from their teacher, and this is also the inmost wish of all the children in remote areas. We can see the eagerness in their eyes, the eagerness of learning, the eagerness of having a teacher, and the eagerness of going out to the outside world.Nowadays, our country is under great improvement in all aspects. Of course education is of great importance. The central government pays more attention to increase the human forces and the financial input for education. The State Education Commission carries out different Acts for training school facilities, making new teaching material, and equipping computer rooms and sound labs. Many enterprises and individuals join in the education activities. More and more "Hope Primary Schools" have been set up. More and more volunteers go to the remote places devoting themselves to teaching. With all the efforts by the government and people, the new generation is full of hope for future.C1: Would you like to take up the job as a teacher?第4题Task: Identifying oneself; identifying things/people; passing on information.Interlocutor:Good morning (afternoon). My name is...and this is my colleague... He/She is just going to be listening to us.And your names are...and...?Give me your mark sheets please.Thank you.(Hand over the mark sheets to the assessor.)First of all, we'd like to know something about you, Candidate A, so I'm going to ask you some questions. Are you currently working or studying? Can you describe your job/studies?Which part of the day do you like best? What do you do on Fridays?Thank you. Now, we'd like to know something about you, Candidate B, so I'm going to ask you some questions. What kinds of clothing do you like best? What clothing is popular in China these days? What kind of clothing do children wear to school? What do you think of young people's clothing?【正确答案】:Candidate A: I'm a student at Beijing Normal University. I'm studying to be a teacher and I am in my 3rd year.Candidate A: Well, it mainly involves studying the theory and also studying the knowledge I have to teach. I 'm an English major in teaching so I have to learn a lot of new words. I also have to do some practice teaching.Candidate A: I like the times when I can actually get into a real classroom and help out the teacher. I also like the end of the day when I can relax. Candidate A: I usually go out with my friends to a local bar or pub. If I feel energetic I might go to a bar.Candidate B: I like wearing T-shirts and jeans. I especially like loose baggy jeans and comfortable clothing like that.Candidate B: It seems a lot of people like wearing those traditional clothes. We call them Zhong Shan Zhuang, which just mean that the clothes are similar to the ones wore by Sun Yatsen.Candidate B: Children wear uniforms that they get from the school. They have different kinds of designs in different schools, but it's usually with blue and white or green and white.Candidate B: It's very shiny and the clothes are very loose. I see some people wearing strange colors and a lot of people are wearing branded clothing.第5题Interlocutor:Now I'd like you to talk about something between yourselves, but speak loudly so that we can hear you. You should take care to share the opportunity of speaking.(Put the picture for Candidates in front of both candidates and give instructions with reference to the picture.)Talk to each other about violence on TV and in films. This picture is for your reference. You have three minutes for this. Wouldyou like to begin now, please?【正确答案】:Candidate B: What do you think of violence on TV and in films? Candidate A: I'm very concerned about the violence on TV and in films. It's pretty bad now and I think it affects the way people think. Candidate B: But I think it's quite natural to watch shows with a bit of violence because it makes it more exciting. Usually the violence in Chinese movies involves Kongfu, except when they come from Hong Kong or Taiwan.Candidate A: But have you noticed the number of violent TV programs is rising. Children get more aggressive and they use these characters as models. I think the worst thing it teaches people is that justice can only come by force. In that case, how can we ever trust the processes of negotiation and diplomacy?Candidate B: I don't think there is much of a relationship between violence on TV and violence in society.第6题Interlocutor:· I'm going to give each of you a picture and I'd like you to first briefly describe and then give your comment on what you see in the picture. (Half a minute for asking and answering the question.)(Take back Picture 1 and put Picture 2 in front of both candidates.) · OK, Candidate B, here is your picture. You also have three minutes to talk about your picture.· Candidate A, listen carefully while Candidate B is speaking. When he/she has finished, I'd like you to ask him/her a question about what he/she has said.· Candidate B, would you like to begin now, please?Candidate B: (Three minutes)Interlocutor:· Thank you. Now, Candidate A, could you please ask your partner a question? (Half a minute for asking and answering the question)· Thank you. That is the end of the test.【正确答案】:C1: The graph shows the distribution of the world's population by continent in three different years: 1800, 1900 and 1997. The letter A to F refers to Asia, Africa, Europe, Latin American and Caribbean, North America and Oceania. The data displays that, with the exception of Asia and Oceania, most continents have experienced fluctuations. At an average of about 61% and 2% respectively, Asia and Oceania have maintained relatively stable proportions of the world population. At the other extreme, by 1900, Africa's 10% share of world population had fallen from its 12% share a century earlier, and was dwarfed by Europe's 4% increase between 1800 and 1900. However, by 1977, both Africa and Europe were left nearly even at around 14% of the world's population each. By contrast, the population has steadily increased in Latin America and the Caribbean and North America, with each supporting a higher percentage of the world's total in 1997 than in either 1800 or 1900.Overall, while Asia and Oceania are consistent in their shares of the world's population, the other continents have undergone increases and vacillations through the centuries.C2: Can you tell me what the biggest problem is in controlling the population?C2: In this picture, we get to know many cars and manufactories release smoke from their funnel into the air and discharge wastewater to the fields. The sky is no longer blue, the rivers become muddy, and the air becomes heavily polluted. These wastes are the main killer to our environment. The pollutants hit us in the face the moment we step off the room, and we can't escape them in any major city in China. The air is thick with particulate, that is, dust. It is very difficult to see. More Chinese are getting off their bikes and into cars. We are facing very serious consequences. There has been a priority in our country for a number of years, on economic growth with little attention to the environmental consequences of this very fast rate of economic development. In some project, the developer will ask that those pollution control devices be taken out of the project for saving money. It is reported that about 30% of the population is dying of respiratory diseases and dirty water is making people sick constantly. But we are very glad to see the environmental movement begins to spring up in our country. It turns out that the constant attention given to environmental problems by government and non-governmental organizations is very urgent and of great value.C1: Is there any sort of environmental movement you know?第7题Interlocutor:Good morning (afternoon). My name is...and this is my colleague... He/She is just going to be listening to us.And your names are...and...?Give me your mark sheets please.Thank you.(Hand over the mark sheets to the assessor.)First of all, we'd like to know something about you, Candidate A, so I'm going to ask you some questions.Tell me about the kind of accommodations you live in?What are the advantages and disadvantages of the kind of housing you live in?Which do you prefer, a flat or a house?Thank you. Now, we'd like to know something about you, Candidate B, so I'm going to ask you some questions. Can you tell me something about your family? What do your family members do for a living? What do you and your family like to do together?【正确答案】:Candidate A: In my country, I live in a two-bedroom apartment with my parents. The apartment's not big, but we've made it very comfortable to live in.Candidate A: Let me think. The biggest advantage? I guess it would be the convenience of it. I can do anything I want. As for the biggest disadvantage, some people might say the space, but I think the biggest disadvantage of living in a flat is that you never really get to know your neighbours.Candidate A: Well, it depends on the condition that they are in. I'd probably have to say a flat, because you don't have to worry so much about maintaining it.Candidate B: I have no brothers or sisters. Both of my parents are still alive, and are still working. My grandparents on my father's side are both alive too, though my mother's parents have already passed away. I am also married. I got married 2 years ago.Candidate B: My father's retired, and my mother's still working as a nurse at the Xie He hospital. My father used to be a city inspector. I have no brothers or sisters.Candidate B: I guess we mainly just talk about a lot of things and then watch TV together. My parents and I like to visit people together. Sometimes we go shopping together, but, to tell the truth, I prefer doing that by myself.第8题 Interlocutor:Now I'd like you to talk about something between yourselves, but speak loudly so that we can hear you. You should take care to share the opportunity of speaking.(Put the picture for Candidates in front of both candidates and give instructions with reference to the picture.)2019年公共英语四级口试考试试题(一)I'd like you to talk about your opinions on fast food. This picture is for your reference. You have three minutes for this. Would you like to begin now, please?【正确答案】:Candidate A: what's your opinion on fast food? Candidate B: In my opinion, fast food is convenient and it can save our time.Candidate A: Yes, fast food is quick but it dose not contain all the vitamins we need and what about the price?Candidate B: Oh, it is overpriced. I think.Candidate A: Yes, one fast food place I know sells halfa corncob for about 6 RMB, something I can buy in the street for one RMB.Candidate B: That's true. But still, some foreign fast foods such as McDonald's and KFC are very attractive for many people because they have the different taste from Chinese ones.Candidate A: Well, I know many people like it, but I personally think it is horrible, the food is not very nutritious and to be frank it's expensive as well. So I don't know why people like it.Candidate B: I think a lot of people like to eat just for a change. People also like the idea of just getting some privacy to chat freely and not having to be disturbed by some waiter or waitress.Candidate A: Anyhow, it is not suitable for us to eat frequently. Candidate B: Yes, I think so.。

2019英语四级口语考试练习题(1)
Task1: Retelling a story
①When she was 22 years old Pat Jones decided that she wanted to travel around the world and see as many foreign places as she could while she was young. When she finished college at home in Britain, Pat chose to visit Latin America first, so she managed to get a job as an English teacher in a secondary school in Bolivia. Pat spoke a little Spanish, so she was able to communicate with her students even though
they did not know much English.
②A sentence she had once read somewhere stuck in her mind: if you dream in a foreign language, it means that you have really mastered it. Pat repeated this sentence to her students and she hoped that someday she would dream in
Spanish and they would dream in English.
③One day, Tim, one of the worst students in her class, came up to her and explained in Spanish that he had not done his homework. He said that he had gone to bed early and had slept badly. Pat was quite angry with him, for she did not think that his explanation had anything to do with his homework. But Tim told her that he dreamed all night and his dream was in English.
④“In English!” Pat thought. She was greatly surprised, since Tim was such a bad student. She was also secretly jealous. Her dreams were still not in Spanish, but she
decided to encourage her student and asked him to tell her about his dream.
“All the people in my dream spoke English,” Tim said. “And all the signs were in English. All the newspapers and magazines and all the TV programs were in English.”
“But that’s wonderful,” said Pat. “What did all the people say to you?” she asked.
“I’m sorry. Miss Jones, That’s why I slept so badly all through the night. I didn’t understand a word they said. It was a nightmare!” Tim answered.
Task2: Talking on a given topic
Directions: Describe one of the most unpleasant dreams you’ve ever had.
Task3: Role-playing
Student A: Nowadays higher education is getting more and more expensive. To quite a number of families it has become a big financial burden. You try to discuss this problem with student B. You think that parents should pay tuition for their children since college students do not yet have any regular income.
Student B: Nowadays higher education is getting more and more expensive. To quite a number of families it has become a big financial burden. You try to discuss this problem with student A. Your opinion is that it is unfair to put this big burden on parents since college students are already adults. Students themselves should find ways to pay their own tuition.。
