四川省情

四川地处中国西南腹地和长江、黄河上游，幅员面积48.5万平方公里，人口8900万。辖21个市（州）、181个县（市、区），与7省市区接壤。有56个民族，其中有彝、藏、羌等14个世居少数民族，是全国第二大藏族聚居区、最大的彝族聚居区和唯一的羌族聚居区。

四川山川秀美、物产丰富、人杰地灵，有世界自然遗产九寨沟、黄龙寺，世界文化遗产都江堰—青城山，世界文化和自然双遗产峨嵋山—乐山大佛，武侯祠、杜甫草堂、三星堆蜚声中外，中国文化遗产金沙遗址的“太阳神鸟”象征着追求光明、团结奋进、和谐包容。海螺沟、四姑娘山、蜀南竹海景色优美，民族风情浓郁多姿。四川地形地貌复杂，生物群落独特，是世界上山地生物物种最主要的分化与形成中心之一。全省拥有药用植物约3000多种，是全国最大的中药材基地；有脊椎动物1259种，国家重点保护野生动物145种，居全国之冠，其中野生大熊猫数量占全国的76%以上，是驰名中外的大熊猫故乡；是全球25个生物多样性热点地区之一。这块土地孕育了司马相如、李白、苏东坡、郭沫若、巴金、张大千等一批文化名人，涌现出朱德、邓小平、刘伯承、陈毅等一批伟大的革命家、政治家、军事家，人才荟萃、星光璀璨。

Specific Situation in Sichuan Province

Sichuan province，sitting in the heartland of southwestern China on the upper reaches of Yangtze River and Yellow River, covers an area of 485 thousand square kilometers and has a population of 89 million. Under its jurisdiction are 21 cities and 181 counties. Sichuan borders 7 provinces, cities and counties. With 56 nationalities, in which Yi, Tibetan, Qiang and so on about 14 kinds of resident ethnic minorities, Sichuan province is the second largest Tibetan-inhabited area, the largest Yi-inhabited area and the only Qiang-inhabited area in China。

Among many of the glories enjoyed by Sichuan province are beautiful mountains and rivers, abundant resources and outstanding people. It has the world natural heritage Jiuzhaigou Valley and Huanglongsi Scenic Spot, the world cultural heritage Mount Qingcheng and Dujiang Dam, the world cultural and natural heritage Mount Emei and the Leshan Giant Buddha, Wuhou Memorial Temple, Du Fu Thatched Cottage, Sanxingdui Museum renowned Chinese and foreign. The Gold Band with Sun and Magic Birds, unearthed from the cultural heritage Jinsha Ruins, symbolizes the pursuit of light, unification and endeavor, harmony and tolerance. Hailuogou, Siguniangshan and Bamboo Sea have beautiful sceneries and rich ethnic customs. With complex topography, Sichuan has unique biomes and is one of the main areas for differentiation and formation of mountainous biological species in the world. Sichuan has over 3,000 medicinal plant species, is the largest base of Chinese medicinal materials in the country. It also has 1,259 vertebrate animal species and 145 national protected animal species, ranking the first in the country. With a large number of wild Giant Pandas representing 76% of China’s total Giant Pandas, Sichuan is well-known as the home of Giant Panda in the world. At the same time, it is one of the 25 global biodiversity hotspots. Sichuan province, a large star-spangled pool of talent, has gestated lots of cultural celebrities, such as Sima Xiangru, Li Bai, Su Dongpo, Guo Moruo, Ba Jin and Zhang Daqian, and has witnessed the emergence of a wave of great revolutionists, politicians, and military strategists, including Zhu De, Deng Xiaoping, Liu Bocheng and Chenyi.
