It's a pretty busy one with school, extracurriculars, chores at home, and hanging out with friends and family. But I actually really enjoy having a schedule and routine. It helps keep me organized and on track.Let me walk you through a typical day for me. I wake up around 6:30am during the school week after my mom calls up the stairs for me to get going. I'm definitely not a morning person, so it takes me a little while to fully wake up and get ready.I brush my teeth, get dressed, make my bed, and head downstairs for breakfast.My mom always has something simple but nutritious ready like eggs, oatmeal, or a smoothie with fruit, yogurt and granola. I try to eat a decent breakfast because I know it's really important for having energy and being able to concentrate during my morning classes. Plus, the lunch period at school isn't until12:30pm so I need something to get me through until then.After breakfast, I pack up my backpack with all my school supplies, books, completed homework assignments, and mylaptop. I also grab anything I need for after-school activities like my soccer gear or ballet shoes and dancewear. My mom drives me to school and I have to be there by 8am. The first bell rings at 8:10am so I have a little time to go to my locker and get organized for my first few classes.The school day itself is pretty typical. We have 8 classroom periods with 5-10 minutes of passing time in between each one to get to our next class. The classes cover all the typical core subjects like math, science, English, history, as well as some electives. This year I'm taking Spanish, art, and computer applications as my electives which I really enjoy.In between a couple of my class periods, I have a 20 minute snack break where I can grab something from the cafeteria like a small salad, piece of fruit, granola bar, or packaged snacks. The lunch period is pretty short, only about 25 minutes, so I don't have a ton of time to eat. I usually just get a simple lunch like a sandwich, yogurt, vegetable pack, and a milk or juice box.After the end of the school day at 3pm, I have soccer practice twice a week from 3:30-5pm. On the other days, I'll either go to the school library to get started on homework for a couple hours or head home. My parents try to only schedule me for oneweekly after-school activity per season so that I have plenty of time for schoolwork.Once I get home around 5 or 6pm, I always have a snack like a granola bar, fruit, or small sandwich to refuel after a long day at school. Then I get started on any homework assignments that are due the next day. I generally have 1-2 hours of homework per night between all my different classes which can be pretty tough to get through some nights when I'm tired.My parents are pretty strict about me finishing all my homework before I'm allowed to do any other activities or use any electronics recreationally. So I try to power through it as quickly as I can while still doing quality work. If I get stuck on an assignment, I'll ask my parents or older sister for help explaining concepts to me.Once I've finished up my homework for the night, I'm allowed to relax, hang out with friends, read for fun, listen to music, or watch some shows. Although, my parents do set pretty strict limits on recreational screen time during the week. I'm only allowed a couple hours per night before I need to start getting ready for bed.Sometime between 8:30-9pm, I'll take a shower and get my backpack and things ready to go for the next morning. Then I liketo wind down for 30-60 minutes by reading, doing puzzles, or just relaxing before lights out at 10pm. I need to get a good night's sleep to be energized for the next school day ahead!The weekends are a bit more laid back, but I still have responsibilities like chores and extracurricular activities. I'll spend a couple hours each weekend day doing things like laundry, cleaning my room, taking out the trash, helping with yardwork, and running errands with my parents.
