碧波粼粼的尼日尔河宛如彩带，从城市南侧静静流过，北面是青翠的山峦，市区终年绿树成荫，风景秀丽。
关于巴马科的形成，当地流传着一个故事：500多年前，巴马科还是一片荒山河谷，河中鳄鱼成群，时常伤人；周边森林密布，野兽出没，人烟稀少。
后来，一位名叫迪亚拉·穆萨的猎人来到这里，打死了最凶猛的鳄鱼，并在此定居下来，逐渐形成了村落。
