Carefully, he stepped over all the broken glass.
Joyfully, he skipped up the street.
But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again.
Immediately, an absolute darkness ruled the forest.
Curious to know what was inside, he tiptoed into the dark cave.
He was curious to know what was inside, and he tiptoed into the dark cave.Unable to say a word, he was rooted to the spot.

[2020·青岛市高三练习诊断]One spring morning many years ago, I had been prospecting for gold along Coho Creek. As I emerged from a forest, I froze in my tracks. No more than 20 paces away in the bog (沼泽) was a huge Alaskan timber wolf—caught in one of Trapper George's traps.Old George had died the previous week of a heart attack, so the wolf was lucky. Confused and frightened at my approach, the wolf backed away, pulling hard on the trap chain. Then I noticed something else: It was a female, and her teats (奶头) were full of milk. Somewhere there was a den (窝) of hungry pups waiting for their mother. From her appearance, I guessed that she had been trapped only a few days. That meant her pups were probably still alive. But I suspected that if I tried to release the wolf, she would turn aggressive and try to tear me to pieces. So I decided to search for her pups instead and began to look for incoming tracks that might lead me to her den. Fortunately, there were still a few remaining patches of snow. The tracks led a half mile through the forest, and I finally spotted the den. There wasn't a sound inside. Wolf pups are shy and cautious, and I didn't have much hope of tricking them outside. But I had to try. So I began copying the squeak (吱吱声) of a mother wolf calling her young. No response.A few moments later, after I tried again, four tiny pups appeared. I extended my hands, and they tentatively (试探性地) sucked at my fingers. Perhaps hunger had helped overcome their natural fear. Then, one by one, I placed them in a bag and headed back. When the mother wolf spotted me, she stood straight. Possibly picking up the scent (气味) of her young, she let out a sorrow-stricken cry. I released the pups, and they raced to her. Within seconds, they were slurping (出声地吃) at her belly.

The night before, he stayed up late to deal with some emails, so when he boarded on the plane he decided to have a sleep. Hours later, he was woken up by some noise and he found the plane had landed. As he thought he had arrived home, Mr. Scottie got off the plane. He thought he was in Rome. However, the truth was that the plane made a one-hour stop to get oil at Kennedy Airport of New York.Mr. Scottie waited at the airport for some while, but nobody was there to meet him, he thought maybe they were held up by heavy traffic which was very common in Rome. He decided to give his family a phone call. Unfortunately, he found he had left his cellphone at the hotel in San Francisco. Therefore, he decided to go home by himself. While he was walking in the city, Mr. Scottie found that the old “Rome” had changed a lot. Many old buildings were replaced by high modern ones. He also found that many people spoke English instead of Italian and that many street signs were written in English. What made him most surprised was that drivers’ awareness of traffic safety was improved and he hardly found any driver speeding on the road. All cars were driving in line. The condition was widely different from that in the past. He was feeling proud.Mr. Scotti knew very little English, so he asked a policeman (in Italian) the way to the bus station. He happened to meet a policeman who was also born in Italy and answered him in the same language. Mr. Scotti thanked him, left, quickly found the bus station and got on a bus. He looked outside of the bus window.

It was such a memorable experience, and I can't wait to tell you all about it!So, the exam started with a reading section, and let me tell you, those passages were no joke. But luckily, I had studied hard and was able to answer all the questions without too much trouble. The questions were tricky, but I remembered to read each passage carefully and underline the key points to help me find the answers.Next up was the writing section, and I decided to write about my favorite hobby – playing soccer. I was a bit nervous about this part because sometimes the recordings can be a bit fast. But I listened carefully and was able to answer all the questions correctly. Phew! Finally, the speaking test. This was probably the most nerve-wracking part of the exam for me. I had to talk about a topic for two minutes straight, without any notes. I chose to talk about my dream of traveling around the world, and I spoke about all the places I wanted to visit and why. I also answered some questions from the examiner about my travel plans. It was tough, but I tried my best to speak clearly and confidently. And that was it! The exam was over, and I felt a mix of relief and excitement.
一、2021浙江首考读后续写Pumpkin (南瓜)carving at Halloween is a family tradition. We visit a local farm every October. In the pumpkin field, I compete with my three brothers and sister to seek out the biggest pumpkin. My dad has a rule that we have to carry our pumpkins back home, and as the eldest child I have an advantage —I carried an 85-pounder back last year. This year, it was hard to tell whether my prize or the one chosen by my 14-year-old brother, Jason, was the winner. Unfortunately we forgot to weigh them before taking out their insides, but I was determined to prove my point. All of us were hard at work at the kitchen table, with my mom filming the annual event. I’m unsure now why I thought forcing my head inside the pumpkin would settle the matter, but it seemed to make perfect sense at the time. With the pumpkin resting on the table, hole uppermost, I bent over and pressed my head against the opening. At first I got jammed just above my eyes and then, as I went on with my task, unwilling to quit, my nose briefly prevented entry. Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork (软木塞) forced into a bottle. I was able to straighten up with the huge pumpkin resting on my shoulders. My excitement was short-lived. The pumpkin was heavy. “I’m going to set it down, now,”I said, and with Jason helpingto support its weight, I bent back over the table to give it somewhere to rest. It was only when I tried to remove my head that I realized getting out was going to be less straightforward than getting in. When I pulled hard, my nose got in the way. I got into a panic as I pressed firmly against the table and moved my head around trying to find the right angle, but it was no use. “I can’t get it out!”I shouted, my voice sounding unnaturally loud in the enclosed space.
