1. RAM(random access memory) works similarly to short term memory. Its capacity is very limited ,and storage for any memory in that stage continues for a short time. A computer’s hard drive is similar to a person’s long-term memory. Information is encoded and stored in a much more permanent fashion for later retrieval. The encoding of the information is what makes the difference in whether it’s stored in short-term memory or long-term memory. Long-term memory requires more time and repetition, among other things, to further encode and store a piece of data. Forgetting can happen if information isn’t encoded properly.If someone is distracted by noise or visual stimuli while studying, then the information is more likely to have errors in encoding.
2.Americans use the word friend in a very general way. They may call both casual acquaintances and close companions friends. American have school friends, work friends, sports friends and neighborhood friends. These friendships are based on common interests. When the shared activity ends, the friendship may fade. American society is one of rapid change. Studies show that one out of five American families move every year. American friendships develop quikely, and they may change just as quickly. People from the United States may at first seem friendly. Americans often chat easily with strangers. But American friendliness is not always an offer of true friendship.
