2014年12⽉英语四级作⽂题⽬及范⽂ The Most Beneficial Activity in My Campus It is well known that university is greatly different from high school mainly due to that university will hold a large number of activities, which benefits college students a lot. From my perspective, the most beneficial one is “Long-distance Running for Love” organized by the Students Union when I am a freshman. The money collected by this activity is contributed to Project Hope. It is really my honor to participate the long running, because it benefits me greatly not only in body but also in mind. To begin with, the activity reminds me of the great importance of physical health. Before I go to college, I only focus on academic achievements while the physical health misses my attention. But, the long-running tells me in time that a sound mind lies in a sound body. Additionally, during my participation in this activity, I am informed well that there are still many children in rural areas who have to drop out of school because of impoverished families. Thus, for one thing, I fully realize the great importance of helping them fulfill their dreams. For another thing, I cherish the opportunity to study in university more, for when compared with those children in poverty-stricken areas, we should harbor a grateful heart. By and large, although I have taken part in many campus activities, I deem the long running for love most beneficial to me. And I am looking forward to that more wonderful and meaningful activities will be held in our campus.

1As is shown above, the bar chart clearly demonstrates the relationship between the education level and earning in 2010. It is obvious that well-educated persons such as owning Doctoral degree and Master's degree have a high salary than those who have relatively low degree. Isolated as the figure seems to be, as a matter of fact, we can observe that the higher level of education you receive, the higher income you get.People’s opinions about investment in education differ from person to person. Some people say that knowledge could no longer change destiny. To them, it is not only a waste of money, but also a waste of time. Others deem that education is worthy of investment. As for me it is no doubt that education offers favorable working opportunity and handsome income, which enable us to buy what we want ,please what we love, and fulfill what we dream, and correspondingly we are able to build an ideal paradise where life can be enjoyed to the uttermost. In conclusion, we should realize significance of education, which plays a crucial role in personal growth of career. In addition, it is convinced that education is the prospect of a nation. 2From the bar chart given above, we can observe that it reflects the statistics of income among people of different educational background. Those who possess a doctoral degreeearn 1,551dollars median weekly, ranking first among people of other education level. The median weekly earnings of people with associate degree and below can not reach the average of 797 dollars, ranking from 768 dollars to 451 dollars. As for the unemployment rate, 2.5 % of people with doctoral degree will suffer form unemployment. However, the unemployment rate of people with some college, no degree and lower degree surpass the mean value of7.6%, ranking from 8.7% to 14.1%.The bar chart of Education Pays reveals a phenomenon that there exits some difference in incomes and unemployment rate among people with different educational level. Quite a few reasons can account for this phenomenon: for one thing, with the advancement of technology and the adjustment of industrial structure, quite a few high-tech industries emerge overnight, which leads to a soar demand of workforces with high educational degree, thus, it is natural that graduates with bachelor’ and higher degree get a high pay-packet and enjoy a stable job. Additionally, those with educational background under associate degree are easily dismissed and paid by low salary. They can be replaced any time due to the fact that their jobs are easy and can be finished by average people.Definitely, the higher education degree you get, the more likely you are to enjoy a competitive edge in the employment market. Thus, the authorities should enforce some policies to ensure the equity of education. Only in this way can more people lead a stable and comfortable life. 3From the chart above, we can definitely get a conclusion that the more you learned, the higher your salary would be. The figures in the chart denied the claim that knowledge is useless. However quite a few people still hold the opinion that a higher education does no good to a better job since that there are many university students who can not get an ideal job. What I want to point out is that there is more than one factor that contributes to the failure of finding an ideal job for those who got a higher education. While those who failed to get a better education will hardly succeed in getting a good job because they didn’t get the knowledge systematically and scientifically. As the proverb goes like this, Knowledge is power. Education pays, sooner or later. 4At the picture depicts, a father told his son that he should read deeply rather than merely pursue the quantity of reading materials. It reflects that people tend to browse and scan e-books without stopping to ponder even one question. The way we read is so superficial that it arouses great concern in modern life.To be a better reader, we had better do as follows. For one thing, take notes about crucial details as we used to do. Taking notes can avoid the phenomenon that the more we read online or on smart phones, the less we seemed to memorize. For another, classics deserve to be savored by the contemporary people. For example, some classical novels can be read free on Kindle, which makes them popular among youngsters again. What's more, if we did not make summaries from time to time, nothing that we learnt from e-books would truly be ours.In conclusion, when we enjoy digital reading, we should consciously conducts deep reading. Try our best to keep those good habits which are acquired in the process of paper reading, such as intensive reading and deep thinking. 5Can money buy happiness? Various people have various answers. Some people think that money is the source of happiness. With money, one can buy whatever he enjoys. With money, one can do whatever he likes. So, in their minds, money can bring comfort, security, and so on. Money, as they think, is the source of happiness. But there are still a lot of others who think that money is the root of all evil. Money drives people to steal, to rob, and to break the law. A lot of people became criminals just because they were in search of money. And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can’t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But even though money is necessary to life, it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured by money. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with which he can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because he is never satisfied or he is troubled by various kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can’t buy happiness. 6Do you need books? You won’t be let down. Please call me at xxx. Let’s make things better together. 7As a product of modern computer and the Internet, online games have become very popular among college students. Many students have enjoyed great pleasure and satisfaction from these games. But as we see, some students lacking self-discipline are too much indulged in these games so that their health and academic performances are affected. This phenomenon has caused much worry from the teachers and parents. However, some others argue that online games are not always harmful. They can train the ability of youngsters to respond to things quickly. Moreover, they can stimulate their imagination and their interest in computer science. More importantly, it does bring college students much pleasure and release their pressure greatly. From my point of view, online games are a wonderful entertainment if you play them in a clever way. When they interfere too much with your study, it is better for you to give them up at once. But if you have enough self-control over them, you can certainly obtain real pleasure and benefit a lot from them. 8In recent years, all kinds of electronic dictionaries and translation software have been developed. With the development of technology, these electronic dictionaries and software can help us translate not only words and phrases but even sentences and paragraphs. So some people come to the conclusion that machine translation will replace traditionalhuman translation. However, I couldn’t agree with this argument.Admittedly, translation machines and software bring much convenience for our study and our work. With them, we needn’t bother to leaf through the heavy dictionaries. However, machine translation has its disadvantages. First, generally speaking, translation software only can give direct translation, which is sometimes not in accordance with the original articles in logic and meaning. Second, some people depend on electronic dictionaries and software too much, which is unfavorable to their improvement in language ability.Considering the above-mentioned, I think that machine translation cannot replace human translation, but it is a good. 9Some people tend to stick to their positions all the time, as they think the longer one works in a particular field, the more skillful one will be at it. Some have been teachers all their lives. Some devote their life energy to scientific research. Such people love their work and turn out to be specialists in their own field. They are usually high achievers. Some are different. They are in the habit of job-hopping, for they always pursue what is new and stimulating. They never seem content with their present situation. Some like to meet more people, make more money and new acquaintances, so they hop from job to job.As far as I am concerned, I want to be professionally strong.I am not in favor of frequent job hopping, as the saying goes Jack of all trades, master of none. But I want to have opportunities for advancement and as many colleagues as possible to cooperate and communicate with so as to be more creative and less partial. 10In recent years, to get a certificate Why does this craze appear? To begin with, it is the employment pressure that forces college students to get more certificates. With the admission expansion of colleges, a lot more graduates have to face the fierce competition in the job market. How can one make himself more competitive? More certificates at hand, maybe. Furthermore, diploma and certificates are still vital standards by which a good many employers measure a person’s ability. In order to increase the qualifications for a job, the students compel themselves to run from one exam to another. From my point of view, we should be more rational when it comes to certificates, since certificates do not necessarily prove one’s ability. Being crazy in getting certificates blindly is nothing but wasting time. To conclude, we should focus on improving our ability but not getting a certificate of no practical value. 11In recent years, there are people in expanding numbers who have participated in the test for civil servants. Millions of students choose civil servant as their most ideal occupation after graduation. And among them, the high-educated, like masters and doctors, take quite a large percentage. The craze in civil servant test has attracted widespread attention. The following fundamental causes can account for this kind of craze. First and foremost, nowadays college students face great employment pressure. Civil servant, as one of the most stable professions in today’s China, becomes their preferable choice. Moreover, recently, the welfare and salary of civil servants have been improved greatly, which undoubtedly attracts manypeople. Last but not least, the high social position of civil servants is a crucial factor drawing many people to take part in the civil servant test.In my opinion, this craze in civil servant test will continue in the following years. However, from the long run, it does not do good to the development of our nation. If most high quality talents gather in the government departments, it might lead to a waste of resources. Accordingly, both the individuals and the government should have a more objective recognition of the civil servant test craze. 12Frustration is unavoidable in life. Faced with frustration, some people are defeated while others conquer it and succeed. In the long history of human beings, many people have set a good example for us.Strong-minded person cannot be defeated by frustration. It is frustration that will breed success. Zhang Haidi is a case in point. Disabled as she is, she obtained the master degree in Philosophy and acquired four foreign languages. As far as we know, Edison had made experiments for eight thousand times on more than seven thousand kinds of materials before the electric light was invented. As the old saying goes, our greatest glory consists not in falling, but in rising every time we fall. All in all, when the unexpected frustration comes, we must set up the courage to conquer it. Furthermore, we should learn from our failures so that we steer ourselves through failures next time and embark on the road to success. 13With the development of technology as well as economy, more and more students begin to use their WAP phones to surfthe Internet. Admittedly, WAP phones have broughtconvenience to us –surfing the Internetanytime anywhere. Nevertheless, its bad impact can not be ignored. In the first place, apart from those who can control themselves, most of the students are addicted to playing with WAP phones. They set study, their main tasks, aside and spend much time on their WAP phones. In the second place, since students can surf the Internet with WAP phones anytime anywhere, they are likely to do it all the time. As a result, they will spend much money on the Internet. Thus, those who are financially dependent on their parents will greatly increase the financial burden on their parents.Based on the above, it’s safe to come to the conclusion that it’s advisable for the students to use WAP phones in an appropriate way. 14Charity is of utmost importance to us humans. While following a spate of scandals, some individuals and institutions involved in this field have encountered criticism in recent months. There are several reasons for this phenomenon. Above all, compared with those of developed countries, the charity awareness in our country is backward. Some people equal charity with donation, and therefore they believe that charity is the rich’s responsibility and has nothing to do with the middle-class and the poor. The second thing that must be taken into consideration is that a number of individuals and charitable organizations lack a sense of social responsibility, which results in the declining social credibility. For my part, I believe the following steps can address this situation. Firstly, people’s awareness of how profound influence charity can bring to our society should be heightened. Secondly, rigorous supervision must be carried out by the administrations involved, so that the charity activities will become more transparent. 15With the popularity of the Internet, network columns in which celebrities such as pop stars, atheles show off their wealth become prevalent.Opinions on this issue differ from person to person. An army of people, especially youngsters today are fond of these activities. Not only can they know about the latest information of these celebrities but also they can get their shopping desires stimulated by copying what the rich do. On the contrary, a number of people hold the negative attitude towards this phenomenon. They maintain that the show-off may mislead the public’s value of consumption that erode people’s outlook on life. For my part, despite the continuous improvement of people’s living standard, in China where the gap between the rich and the poor is increasingly widening, the rich should play at least a small role in helping those in povertity instead of flaunting their wealth. 16It is reported by the World Luxury Association that by 2012 China will have been expected to be the biggest trade and consumer center of luxury goods. And this provokes a heated discussion. There are many factors that have stimulated this great change of consumption value. First of all, the rising of living standard enables people to afford the luxury goods. Secondly, owing to the high quality and famous designer, consumers preferluxuries as long as the goods meet their needs in terms of aesthetics or collection value. Last but not least, it is vanity that derives more and more people to buy luxury goods. Consumers prefer so much to imitate their idols like pop stars that they just blindly pursue the trend and label themselves as rich.As a college student, I am supposed to buy what I can afford. I’ll take the factors like style , quality and design into consideration, regardless of whatever the brand is. 17Nowadays more and more parents are eager to send their children to study abroad before they finish high school by whatever means and at whatever cost.It is quite understandable for parents to send their children to study overseas because they place high expectations on their children. They are encouraged by the success stories of those who have completed their overseas study. With the development of economy, companies and institutions at home are giving more and more emphasis on overseas experiences, too. Consequently, pursuing overseas study became a kind of short cut in gaining a better future. Moreover, there is still one underlying reason for this rush-economic reason. The rapid economic progress in the past few years in China has enabled more and more parents to afford the huge cost for their children’s overseas study. As for me, overseas study is surely a helpful way to get both advanced knowledge and necessary experiences, but overseas study at an early age is neither necessary nor benef1cial. The students may be too young to either tend for themselves or think for themselves. I do think that overseas study can contribute to one’s self-improvement, but it’s better to be pursued after one has finished his collegestudy at home, when he is more capable of learning and living on his own. 18We are all called upon to make a speech at some point in life, but most of us don’t do a very good job. Here are some suggestions on how to give a good speech.First of all, it is important to plan. Do your homework. Find out everything you can about your subject. And, at the same time, find out as much as you can about your audience. Who are they? What do they know about your subject? Do they have a common interest? Why are they coming to hear you speak? Put yourself in their shoes as you prepare your speech. Just remember: be prepared. Know your subject, your audience, and the occasion.Let us suppose that you have been asked to introduce the main speaker at a meeting. First, find out the most important and interesting things about the speaker. Then, summarize this information in a few words. Remember, you are not the main speaker; you are introducing the main speaker. If you are giving a lecture or explaining an idea, gather as many facts as you can on your subject. Spend plenty of time doing your research. Then spend plenty of time organizing your material so that your speech is clear and easy to follow. Use as many examples as possible, and use pictures or charts if they will help you make your points more clearly. Never forget your audience. Don’t talk over their heads, and don’t talk down to them. Treat your audience with respect. They will appreciate your thoughtfulness. If you follow these simple steps, you’ll see that you don’t have to be afraid of public speaking. In fact, you may find the experience so enjoyable that you ask to make more speeches! You’re not convinced yet? Give it a try and see what happens. 19A recent investigation shows that about 80 percent of pupils have private tutors.Such a popular practice indicates that people are attaching greater importance to education. Many parents, for various reasons, missed the chance of obtaining a good education. When their children meet with difficulties in study, they are helpless. Private tutoring is the only solution. As private tutoring is usually one-to-one,the teacher knows the strong points as well as the weak points of the pupil clearly. However, private tutoring has its own disadvantages. For one thing,it takes up so much of the pupils’ time t hat they can hardly find enough time for rest and entertainment, which are essential for their physical and mental health. For another, some teachers, busy “shuttling” from one family to another, tend to neglect their regular teaching duties. What’s more, some teachers are eager to help pupils do well in the test, offering the so-called tips for test-taking rather than help them acquire what is more meaningful.Generally speaking, its disadvantages outweigh its advantages. Greater emphasis should be laid on classroom teaching and practice, on the improvement of teaching quality and on the tapping of pupils’ potentials. Only in this way can a new generation be healthily brought up.

Part I Writing(30 minutes)Education pays...Education pays in higher earnings and lower unemployment ratesNote: Data are for persons age 25 and over. Earnings are for full-time wage a nd salary workers.Source: Bureau of Labor Statistics, Current Population Survey. Education PayWhat is shown in the chart above is that those people with high degree earn more than those with lower. For example, staff with master’s degree rec eive a better pay ment than those with bachelor’s degree, according to a survey of the payment to t he employee. These survey indicates that education degree does have a relationshi p with earnings, contrary to the recent theory of useless education.Recently, there is a heated discussion about the significance of the education. Some people hold a view that higher education is useless since college education cann ot mesh with the social needs. Some think that higher education is indispensable if you want to go far in both your studies and life. Now that survey has proved whi ch part is wiser. As for me, I definitely support the view that education is necessary for people’s life. Reading can not only make me survive well in this society with fi erce competition but also help me make sense of life. I pursue for it for my whole life. 2:Education Pays, published every three years, presents detailed evidence of the priv ate and public benefits of higher education. It also sheds light on the distribution of these benefits by examining both the increases and the persistent disparities in co llege participation and completion. In the three years between the publication of Ed ucation Pays 2007 and Education Pays 2010, median earnings for four-year college graduates increased more rapidly than those of high school graduates and the ga p between the unemployment rates of the two groups grew. In addition to earnings comparisons, the report documents differences in lifestyles, health, and other outco mes for people with and without college education. Differences in enrollment and c ompletion patterns across demographic groups highlight the reality that gaps in edu cational attainment are explained by a combination of money and other factors. 3:Pays corresponds to education levels, as is demonstrated by the chart above, “Education: A Weekly Investment”. The weekly earnings in 2010 increases with the sort of diploma the person holds. For instance, the college students with no degre e get paid $712 per week whereas those with a Bachelor’s degree can earn 50% more than them.Several reasons, in my opinion, can be identified to account for this phenomen on. To begin with, compared with those with comparatively lower education degree, people who have received higher education possess considerably wider knowledge, more remarkable learning and research ability, greater innovation and most of all, resourceful social network, all of which are essential to a high-income work. Also, the higher one’s education degree is the bigger platf orm he will have to show his a bility. For example, his college, university, or research institute will organize various job fairs for them to communicate face to face with employers. This phenomenon tells us that education is a worthy investment, therefore, sub stantial education investment should be strengthened while we, as college students, should study harder to build our country and strive for a better life for ourselves.。

I remember that December in 2012 was a very special month for me. It was the first time I traveled abroad alone, and I went to the United States to visit my cousin. The experience was both exciting and nerve-wracking, but it was definitely a memorable adventure.During my trip, I had the chance to visit famous landmarks such as the Statue of Liberty and the EmpireState Building. I also tried a lot of American food, like hamburgers, hot dogs, and pancakes. The food was delicious, but I have to admit that I missed Chinese cuisine a lot.One thing that surprised me about the United States was the diversity of people and cultures. I met people from all over the world, and it was fascinating to learn about their different backgrounds and traditions. I also realized that my English was not as good as I thought, and I struggled to communicate at times.Despite the challenges, I had a great time exploring New York City and experiencing a different way of life. It was an eye-opening trip that broadened my horizons and gave me a new perspective on the world. I will always cherish the memories I made during that December in 2012.。

作文1、A course that has impressed you most in college. (大学中给你印象最深的一门课)2、A classmate of yours who has influenced you most in college.(大学中对你影响最深的一位同学)3、A campus activity that has benefited most.(使你受益最深的一项校园活动)作文一:校园活动Directions: From this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay about a camp a ctivity that has benefited you most. You should state the reasons and write at least 120 words but more than 180 words。

As a college student, it is full of meaning to participate in various campswhich are beneficial for us. Among the camps I involved before, the English Summer camp held by our university with a small group of Chinese college students as well as some friends from English Spoken countries made me the most impressive。

There are two factors for my belief. For one thing, I expanded my scope of knowledge for the lecture made by a professor of the Harvard University. Though I have been learning English for almost ten years, getting knowledgefrom foreign teachers can still be something inspiring. I really want to know about current English countries’culture, such as education, economy, politics and so on. In this way I could know more about the world and it would help me make right decisions when I graduate from university whether going abroadfor further study or not. And it would also help me understand more about ourown country. The second reason for me is that the activities also changed me a lot, including English corner, English drama play, interesting knowledge competition and the like. Undisputedly, all these activities can not only help us learn more skills but improve our English。

In the past decade, social media has rapidly gained popularity worldwide, transforming the way people communicate and access information. This phenomenon has significantly impacted various aspects of society, including interpersonal relationships, business practices, and cultural exchange.Firstly, social media has greatly affected interpersonal relationships. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have made it easier for individuals to connect and interact, regardless of geographical barriers. People can maintain friendships across borders, share updates, exchange messages, and stay connected with loved ones. However, the continuous reliance on social media for communication has also led to a decline in face-to-face interaction. Many individuals find themselves spending more time engaging on social media than participating in real-world conversations, which can lead to feelings of social isolation and the breakdown of genuine relationships.Secondly, social media has revolutionized business practices. Companies now utilize platforms such as LinkedIn and WeChat to enhance their online presence, promote products, and engage with customers. Social media marketing has become an essential tool for businesses to reach a wider audience, increase brand visibility, and drive sales. Moreover, therise of influencer marketing has created new opportunitiesfor individuals to earn income through sponsored content on platforms like YouTube and Instagram. However, this digital landscape has also given rise to challenges such as online scams, data breaches, and the spread of fake news, which businesses must navigate with caution.Lastly, social media has facilitated cultural exchange on a global scale. People can now connect with individuals from different backgrounds, learn about diverse cultures, andshare their own experiences instantly. This has fostered a greater understanding and appreciation for global diversity, breaking down barriers to communication and promoting a sense of global community. However, the instantaneous nature of social media can also lead to the circulation ofmisinformation and the amplification of prejudice, potentially inciting online conflicts and misinformation campaigns. In conclusion, the impact of social media on society is undeniable. It has revolutionized interpersonal relationships, business practices, and cultural exchange. While social media offers immense opportunities for connection and collaboration, it also presents challenges that must be addressed. It is important for individuals and society as a whole to navigate the digital landscape with awareness, critical thinking, anda commitment to ethical online behavior. Only then can we harness the full potential of social media while mitigatingits negative consequences.。

In modern society, there is an old fashioned yet still very true saying: "Education pays." And it really does, in more ways than one.First off, let's talk about the money. People with higher education degrees usually get fatter paychecks. It's like they've got a golden ticket to the money making factory. Take a college graduate, for example. They can land a job in a nice office, sitting in a comfy chair, typing away on a computer, and getting a good salary at the end of the month. Meanwhile, those without much education might be sweating it out in a more physically demanding and lower paying job. It's not that those jobs are bad, but the fact is, education often gives you more options to choose from when it comes to making a living. But it's not all about the Benjamins. Education also enriches our minds. It's like a magic key that unlocks different worlds. Through education, we can learn about the great thinkers of the past, understand different cultures, and explore the mysteries of the universe. We can read books that take us on wild adventures without even leaving our homes. It broadens our horizons so much that we start to see the world in a whole new light. Moreover, education makes us better at dealing with problems. It gives us the skills to think critically and come up with smart solutions. Imagine you're facing a tricky situation at work or in life. If you've had a good education, you're more likely to analyze the situation, weigh the pros and cons, and find a way out. It's like having a superpower that helps you navigate through the twists and turns of life.In conclusion, education is not just about getting a piece of paperthat says you're educated. It's an investment in ourselves that pays off interms of money, knowledge, and problem solving abilities. So, whetheryou're a student grinding away at your studies or an adult thinking about going back to school, remember that education is a pretty darn good deal that will keep on giving back to you.。

as a college student, it is full of meaning to participate in various camps which are beneficial for us. among the camps i involved before, the english summer camp held by our university with a small group of chinese college students as well as some friends from english spoken countries made me the most impressive。

there are two factors for my belief. for one thing, i expanded my scope of knowledge for the lecture made by a professor of the harvard university. though i have been learning english for almost ten years, getting knowledge from foreign teachers can still be something inspiring. i really want to know about current english countries’ culture, such as education, economy, politics and so on. in this way i could know more about the world and it would help me make right decisions when i graduate from university whether going abroad for further study or not. and it would also help me understand more about our owncountry. the second reason for me is that the activities also changed me a lot, including english corner, english drama play, interesting knowledge competition and the like. undisputedly, all these activities can not only help us learn more skills but improve our english。

The year 2012 marked a significant milestone in my academic journey as I embarked on the path towards obtaining my undergraduate degree. One of the most pivotal moments during this time was the English language proficiency examination, commonly known as the College English Test (CET) Level 4, which I had the privilege of taking in December of that year. The CET-4 exam is a standardized test administered across China to assess the English language skills of university students. It is a highly regarded assessment that not only evaluates an individual's proficiency in the language but also serves as a testament to their dedication and hard work. As a student striving for academic excellence, I was determined to excel in this examination and showcase my mastery of the English language. In the months leading up to the exam, I dedicated countless hours to intensive preparation. I immersed myself in a rigorous study regimen, meticulously reviewing grammar rules, expanding my vocabulary, and honing my reading comprehension and writing skills. Theprocess was arduous, but I was fueled by a burning desire to succeed and prove my capabilities. On the day of the exam, I arrived at the designated testing center with a mixture of anticipation and trepidation. The atmosphere was palpable, as hundreds of students like myself gathered, united by the shared goal of achieving excellence. As the exam began, I focused my full attention on each section, tackling the various tasks with a sense of determination and confidence. The listening comprehension portion of the test challenged my ability to quickly grasp the nuances of spoken English, requiring me to discern key information and respond accurately to the questions posed. The reading comprehension section tested my analytical skills, as I navigated through a diverse range of texts, extracting essential details and drawing insightful conclusions. The writing component of the exam, however, was where I truly had the opportunity to showcase my command of the English language. Tasked with crafting a well-structured and coherent essay, I meticulously planned my approach, organizing my thoughts and ideas into a cohesive narrative. I paid close attention to the use of appropriate vocabulary, grammatical structures, and the overall flow of the writing, striving to create a piece that would impress the evaluators. As the exam drew to a close, I felt a sense of relief and accomplishment wash over me. I knew that I had given my utmost effort and had done my best to demonstrate my proficiency in English. The weeks that followed were filled with anticipation as I eagerly awaited the release of the results. When the scores were finally announced, I was overjoyed to learn that I had not only passed the CET-4 exam but had achieved an exceptional result. My hard work and dedication had paid off, and I felt a deep sense of pride in my accomplishment. The successful completion of the CET-4 exam was not just a personal triumph but also a significant milestone in my academic journey. It served as a testament to my commitment to excellence and my ability to overcome challenges. Moreover, it opened up new opportunities for me, as many employers and graduate programs in China highly value the CET-4 certification, recognizing it as a reliable indicator of one's English language proficiency.Beyond the practical benefits, the CET-4 experience also had a profound impact on my personal growth. The preparation process taught me the value of discipline, time management, and the importance of setting clear goals. It instilled in me a deep appreciation for the English language and the cultural richness itencompasses. The sense of accomplishment I felt upon passing the exam further bolstered my confidence and motivated me to continue striving for excellence in all aspects of my academic and professional pursuits. In conclusion, the CET-4 exam I took in December 2012 was a pivotal moment in my academic journey. It not only tested my English language skills but also challenged me to push the boundaries of my own capabilities. The experience of preparing for and successfully completing the exam has left an indelible mark on my personal and professional development, serving as a testament to the power of dedication, hard work, and a steadfast commitment to excellence. As I look back on this milestone, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude and a renewed determination to continue exploring the endless possibilities that the English language has to offer.。

As a college student, I have experienced a lot of challenges and opportunities in the past few years. One of the biggest challenges I faced was adapting to the new environment and making new friends when I first entered college. It was a daunting task for me because I had to leave my hometown and all my old friends behind. However, I soon realized that college was a place where I could meet people from all walks of life and make friends with different backgrounds and interests.I remember one particular experience when I joined a club on campus. At first, I was a bit hesitant to join because I didn't know anyone in the club. However, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and give it a try. To my surprise, I met some amazing people who shared the same passion as me. We quickly bonded over our shared interests and became good friends. This experience taughtme the importance of taking risks and putting myself out there, even when it feels uncomfortable.

2014年12月英语四级作文经典参考范文(共十篇)1、A Magical PotionMorning DewThe world awakens each day from its nightly slumber, transformed by a sparkling layer of morning dew on the grass, on flower petals and leaves, on cars and car windows. These glistening droplets last only a little while, an integral part of what imbues the early morning with its aura of magic. If we sleep too late, we miss the magnificent display of sunlight playing upon an infinite amount of tiny crystal balls. To step onto the dew-covered grass is to anoint our feet with a form of water that comes only once a day for a short time, a rarefied gift of the night air that will soon evaporate in the full light of the sun. If we inhale slowly and consciously enough, it is almost as if we are drinking in this magical elixir formed in the boundary between darkness and light. In one myth, morning dew is believed to be tears from heaven, andin another, the droplets are poured from the vessel of the goddess of dawn. When we see the earth draped with these shimmering drops, it is easy to imagine fairies bathing in the water, or a sky god weeping from a longing to be closer to his beloved earth goddess. Seeing the sparkling beauty of the earth emerging from darkness, we may understand this longing in terms of our own gratitude; how blessed we are to be here.Perhaps heaven really does long to be here on earth, and perhaps that is why we are heres conduits between the divine and the earthbound. As we drink the morning dew in with our eyes, our skin, our breath, it is easy to imagine that it really is a magical potion, a gift from heaven, a reminder of our true purpose, and a daily opportunity to be transformed.2、Exploring An Alternate UniverseWhat Makes People Tick? All people have their own way of being in the world. It is easiest to comprehend this basic yet profound fact when we consider that every human being on the planet occupies a distinct role in the universe. We grow up in different environments, affected by a unique range of influences. The preferences, values, and beliefs we embrace are frequently related intimately to our origins. And the need to individualize our experiences is instinctive, as doing so enables us to cope when we must face challenges on our own. Consequently, each of us has developed a perspective that is uniquely ours. Interacting peacefully and constructively with people from all walks of life is a matter of first understanding where they are coming from. Then we can adjust our expectations so that we avoid making undue assumptions about what they are about. In the face of emerging interpersonal conflict, it is easy to assume that others are being difficult, unreasonable, or stubborn. We are apt to grow frustrated when someone in our environment does not share our opinions or feel compelled to support us in our endeavors. It is likely that the individual or individuals before us may simply possess differing notions with regard to what is and what is not important in this life. We can ease the tension that exists between us by reaffirming our belief in the fundamental right of all beings to determine their own destinies. To foster a harmonious relationship, we need to do our best to relate to the unique universes they inhabit. And as we discover what makes them tick, our ability to find a mode of interaction that is pleasing to both of us is enhanced. When there are barriers keeping you from connecting with someone else, think of questions you can ask them to gain a more thorough understanding of their point of view. You may discover that in addition to the differences in perspective dividing you, they are subject to insecurities and other personal issues that influence their way of seeing the world. It is likely that you will never fully grasp the myriad complexities embodied by humanity, but you can go a long way toward encouraging mutually satisfying relations by reaching out to others in the spirit of sympathetic comprehension.3、Present In The ProgressionLetting Life UnfoldOur lives are guided by natural rhythms that are particular to each of us and cannot be altered by force of will alone. Life itself is a journey made up of processes and events that manifest before us only to be swept away when time marches on. Whether we envision ourselves creating a career, building a family, or developing the self, we instinctively know when the time has come for us to realize our dreams because all that is involved comes together harmoniously. When the time is right, the passage of destiny cannot be blocked. Yet as desperate as we are to touch these beautiful futures we have imagined, we cannot grow if we are not fully present in the evolutionary experience. The present can be challenging, uncomfortable, and tedious, but life unfolds as it will, and the universe will wait patiently as we make our way into the unknown. The fate that awaits us is not dependent on our pace, which was preordained before we ever appeared in human guise. Therefore there is no reason to rush through life to reach those pinnacles of development associated with the paths we have chosen. Enjoying and fully experiencing the journey of life is as important as achieving goals andreaching milestones. There are lessons we can learn during those moments that seem immaterial or insignificant that we cannot learn at any other time. Appreciating these takes patience, however, because human beings tend to focus on the fulfillment of expectations rather than the simple joys of being.Like many people, you have no doubt longed for a device that would give you the power to fast forward through certain periods of your existence. Yet haste is by its very nature vastly more stressful than serene fortitude. When you feel yourself growing impatient because the pace of your development is deceptively slow, remember that everything that will occur in your life will occur in its own time. Quelling your urge to rush will enable you to witness yourself learning, changing, and becoming stronger. There is so much to see and do in between the events and processes that we deem definitive. If you are patient enough to take pleasure in your existence's unfolding, the journey from one pinnacle to the next will seem to take no time at all.4.Creating Space In The BodyOur minds and bodies are interconnected, and the condition of one affects the condition of the other. This is why meditation is such a powerful tool for healing the body, as powerful as physical therapies. When our minds are cluttered with thoughts, information, and plans, our bodies respond by trying to take action. When the body has a clear directive from the mind, it knows what to do, but a cluttered, unfocused mind creates a confused, tense body. Our muscles tighten up, our breath shortens, and we find ourselves feeling constricted without necessarily knowing why. When we sit down to meditate, we let our bodies know that it is okay to be still and rest. This is a clear directive from the mind, and the body knows exactly how to respond. Thus, at the very beginning, wehave created a sense of clarity for the body and the mind. As we move deeper into meditation, the state of our mind reveals itself, and we have the opportunity to consciously decide to settle it. A meditation teacher pointed out that if you put a cow in a small pen, she acts up and pushes against the boundaries, whereas if you provide her with a large, open space, she will peacefully graze in one spot. In the same way, our thoughts settle down peacefully if we provide them with enough space, and our bodies follow suit. When we settle down to examine and experience our consciousness, we discover that there are no hard, definable edges. It is a vast, open space in which our thoughts can come and go without making waves, as long as we let them by neither attaching to them nor repressing them. As we see our thoughts come and go, we begin to breathe deeper and more easily, finding that our body is more open to the breath as it relaxes along with the mind. In this way, the space we recognize through meditation creates space in our bodies, allowing for a feeling of lightness and rightness with the world.5.Wisdom Of The OwlFor as long as humankind has recognized animals as teachers, wise men and women have recognized traits worthy of respect in both wild and domestic creatures. The cultural and spiritual significance of certain animals transcends geographical boundaries, unifying disparate peoples. Not so the majestic and mysterious owl, which has over many millennia served as the focal point of numerous contradictory beliefs. Though owls have been regarded with awe and fascination, they have also inadvertently served as agents of fear. Since owls are nocturnal,human-owl encounters tended to occur at night and likely when the bird was swooping silently down to earth to grapple with prey. Yet even assome shied away from the owl, calling it an agent of darkness, others recognized the depths of awareness in beautiful owleyes. In the classical Greek tradition, an owl could often be found perched on the shoulder of Athena, goddess of wisdom, while owls could ward off bad luck in Roman lore. It is in Native American mythos, however, that the owl attains its own unique identity. Owls are patient messengers, bringers of information and the holders of wisdom, and they are capable of seeing the unseen. With their keen eyesight, they can glance into the soul to discern meaning and motive, and they are totems of truth. Unlike our distant forebears, we may never encounter an owl in the wild, but we can nonetheless internalize the wisdom of the owl by attuning ourselves to its most venerable qualities. Fully integrating the medicine of the owl into spiritual existence is a matter of considering how we might open ourselves more fully to the wisdom that can be found in the larger universe.Should you find your efforts blocked as you commune with the owl, remember that it was not always revered as an icon of wisdom. This denizen of the nighttime has overcome many prejudices in its long association with humankind. To reveal those hidden elements of the self that impact your life for better or for worse, you must often make your way through the darkest parts of your soul as if you yourself are the nocturnal hunter. There is indeed darkness both inside the self and outside the self, but like the owl you can transcend it by drawing nourishment from the insights you receive when you penetrate it.6.Send Healing To YourselfMost people, when given an opportunity to aid someone in need, are eager to do whatever they can to be of service. Those of us who have chosen to make healing the world a vocation are grateful for any occasion to send light and love to people in our immediate spheres of influence andbeyond. As we apply our passion and our principles to this altruistic endeavor, we often forget to send ourselves the same bountiful gifts of wellness, though we ourselves may be in dire need of it. We overlook ourselves, not because we forget, but because we fear that focusing on the self is an indicator of selfishness. It is moreover much more difficult to heal oneself than to heal others because the seeds of uncertainty are more easily banished when we act on another's behalf. When we send healing light to ourselves, it is important that our intentions and our self-trust be stronger than ever to counteract doubt. As we bless ourselves in this way, we serve as both an active channel and a passive destination. This should not change the way we interact with the valuable energy we wish to receive, however.Though we may be tempted to consciously direct or influence the manner in which light impacts our lives because we know ourselves most intimately, we should not try to control its path. When we draw the white light of protection and purity to our bodies, taking it into ourselves with each inhalation, our belief in the fact that it will naturally move toward areas of dysfunction will ensure that it flows through every muscle and organ. And when we fill our spaces with this light, our environments are cleared of all the negative energy that can sap our strength and our spirit. Surrounded inside and out with healing light, we feel safe and protected, healthy, relaxed, and content just as those who regularly receive such loving gifts from us do. If you sincerely believe that there is a part of yourself that exists independently of upset and illness, the love and light you send yourself will help you connect with it.You will see the affirmative impact of this connection almost immediately when you include yourself in the recipients of your healing gifts, as life's frustrations become more tolerable and your bliss becomes ever more palpable.7.Action And EffectAll motive and action affects the cosmos in some way. The principle of cause and effect is the truth that allows us to change ourselves and the world around us for the better. However, this same universal law is also at work when change is not at the forefront of our minds. Our intentions flow forever outward in the form of energy, affecting both the people closest to us and billions of individuals we will likely never meet. For this reason, we should strive always to speak, think, and behave with great thoughtfulness and compassion. The virtues we choose to embody can inspire joy and integrity in the lives of countless people, whether we touch their existence directly or not.The influence we wield is infinite. In an effort to internalize our conscious understanding of the nature of cause and effect, we can never truly know how our thoughts, emotions, words, or actions will manifest themselves on the larger universal stage because it is likely that the furthest-reaching effects will fall outside the range of our perception. We can only look to the guidance of our conscience, which will help us determine whether each of our choices is contributing to humanity's illumination or setting the stage for unintended troubles. When we are in doubt, we need only remember that the cultivation of altruism inevitably leads to a harvest of goodwill and grace. Motivated by a sincere desire to spread goodness, we will be naturally drawn to those choices that will help us express our commitment to universal well-being.Nothing you do, however minor or mundane, is ever exempt from the rules of cause and effect. From the moment of your birth, you have served as an agent of change, setting forces beyond your comprehension into motion across the surface of the earth and beyond. You can exert conscious control over this transformative energy simply by examining your intentions and endeavoring always to promote peace, positiveenergy, and passion in your ideas and actions. While you may never fully comprehend the extent of your purposefully heartfelt influence, you can rest assured that it will be universally felt.8.Finding Deep StrengthWe have all faced moments in our lives when the pressure mounts beyond what we feel we can handle, and we find ourselves thinking that we do not have the strength to carry on. Sometimes we have just gotten through a major obstacle or illness only to find another one waiting for us the moment we finally catch our breath. Sometimes we endure one loss after another, wondering when we will get a break from life travails. It does not seem fair or right that life should demand more of us when we feel we have given all we can, but sometimes this is the way life works. When we look back on our lives, we see that we have survived many trials and surmounted many obstacles, often to our own amazement. In each of those instances, we had to break through our ideas about how much we can handle and go deeper into our hidden reserves. The thought that we do not have the strength to handle what is before us can be likened to the hard surface of a frozen lake. It appears to be an impenetrable fact, but when we break through it, we find that a deep well of energy and inspiration was trapped beneath that icy barrier the whole time. Sometimes we break through by cutting a hole into our resistance with our willpower, and sometimes we melt the ice with compassion for our predicament and ourselves. Either way, each time we break through, we reach a new understanding of the strength we store within ourselves. When we find ourselves up against that frozen barrier of thinking we cannot handle our situation, we may find that the kindest choice is to love ourselves and our resistance too. We can simply accept that we are overwhelmed, exhausted, and stretched, and we can offer ourselves loving kindness and compassion. If we can extend to ourselves theunconditional warmth of a mother抯love, before we know it, the icewill begin to break.9.Energy Of A HomeOur homes are filled with energy that we create and allow to flourish. In many cases, our relationship with the pulse of our homes is passive rather than active because we do not pay particular heed to the energy that has been established. It is only when we regard these spaces as unique entities that we begin to understand why it is necessary to take charge of the energy that fills our homes. Stagnant, inharmonious energy can find its way into our dwellings through many avenues. Previous occupants, builders, visitors, and the individuals who maintain a home leave a strong energy imprint behind. Objects and symbols can also have an effect on the energy of a residence. When we are aware of all that can influence the energy of our spaces, we are empowered to create harmonious homes that do more than meet our need for shelter.Exercising care with regard to who and what we invite into our homes is one of the easiest ways we can ensure that the energy within remains loving and supportive. It is not always possible to keep potentially harmful people and possessions from entering our homes, but we can take precautions. Individuals can be kept from private spaces like bedrooms and meditation areas, while property can be purified through cleansing or smudging. During periods of remodeling or construction, Reiki symbols and other positive imagery can be printed on surfaces that will later be covered by walls or flooring. Though hidden, these will continue to attract good energy and cleanse the existent energy. Blessings can also be drawn in plain sight, where they remind us of how potently our home's energy can affect our own.A home can appear beautiful, comfortable, and stable while still serving as a dwelling place for negative or otherwise offensive energy. If you care for your home conscientiously and with great care, you will instinctively look beyond the surface qualities of your home when assessing how it feels. Since you actively guard your home against the intrusion of unwelcome energy, you will have the time and vigor necessary to cope with it constructively when should it appear in your midst. The spirit of your spaces will respond to your thoughtful ministrations, nurturing and supporting you for as long as you choose to reside within her walls.10.Make Change Work For YouTransformation is a universal constant that affects our lives from the moment we are born until we leave earthly existence behind. At the root of all growth, we find change. Occasionally, change and the circumstances leading up to it are a source of extraordinary joy, but more often than not they provoke feelings of discomfort, fear, or pain. Though many changes are unavoidable, we should not believe that we are subject to the whims of an unpredictable universe. It is our response to those circumstances that will dictate the nature of our experiences. At the heart of every transformation, no matter how chaotic, there is substance. When we no longer resist change and instead regard it as an opportunity to grow, we find that we are far from helpless in the face of it.Our role as masters of our own destinies is cemented when we choose to make change work in our favor. Yet before we can truly internalize this power, we must accept that we cannot hide from the changes taking place all around us. Existence as we know it will come to an end at one or more points in our lives, making way for some new and perhaps unexpected mode of being. This transformation will take place whether or not we want it to, and so it is up to us to decide whether wewill open our eyes to the blessings hidden amidst disorder or close ourselves off from opportunities hiding behind obstacles. To make change work for you, look constructively at your situation and ask yourself how you can benefit from the transformation that has taken place. As threatening as change can seem, it is often a sign that a new era of your life has begun. If you reevaluate your plans and goals in the days or weeks following a major change, you will discover that you can adapt your ambition to the circumstances before you and even capitalize on these changes. Optimism, enthusiasm, and flexibility will aid you greatly here, as there is nothing to be gained by dwelling on what might have been. Change can hurt in the short term but, if you are willing to embrace it proactively, its lasting impact will nearly always be physically, spiritually, and intellectually transformative.。

Education Pays
Numerous individuals are questioning the worth of higher education as the job market is depressed, yet the chart of Weekly earnings in 2010 reveals a forceful counter-evidence that the income is in direct proportion to one's educational background. Those with a doctoral degree earn nearly 3.5 times as much as those with less than a high school diploma.
As an increasing number of graduates find it difficult to get a studying for many years, a hot debate arises on whether education pays. Supporters of higher education insisit that education is the ticket to a steadier and better-paying job and the basis of a comfortable life. However, the opponents assume that they would not stake their money on such a risky investment which does not guarantee a promising career.
As far as I am concerned, we should not stop eating for fear of choking. A better education, in most cases, not only means a better job, a higher salary and a lower unemployment rate, but a paving stone to the integrated improvement of oneself. In a broad sense, it is education that contributes to the development and advancement of the whole nation, which in turn benefits every individual. In conclusion, education is a worthy investment.
The Classmate Who Has Influenced Me Most in College
Classmates play an essential role in our life. When it comes to the classmate who has influenced me most in college, undoubtedly. Zhao Lei is the one who comes to my mind first.
Zhao Lei is my roommate and my best friend. The reasons why I deem that Zhao Lei has influenced me most are as follows: firstly, one can always find a smile on his face which not only reflects his pleasant and optimistic character but also gives others a good impression. This is what I need to learn from Zhao Lei first. Secondly, Zhao Lei is diligent. He does well in all his subjects. However, he is no bookworm. He joins societies such as basketball club and poetry society. He never plays computer games, and only spends time-and energy on things that are conducive to personal development. Thirdly, Zhao Lei is always ready to help others. I never saw him turn a deaf ear to other's request for help.
Thanks to Zhao Lei, I have learned the importance of optimism, diligence and kindness, the indispensable virtues in life.。
