以when,where,what,which,who,how much/many等疑问词引出的问题。
3.以“According to...”
The biggest challenge for most mothers is from________.(二)细节理解题正确选项特征同义替换指对原文句子中的关键词进行同义替换。
2019 高考英语二轮(阅读理解)能力提高操练(04)及分析(****** )Did you ever think someone was scary because they looked different or atestrange food? Well, they might think the same about you! One of the things we allneed to do is to celebrate variety. We shouldn't think badly of people from othercultures because they are different from our own.Sometimes we judge people from other countries unfairly, because one person fromthat culture did something bad. Well, has your class ever been punished just because a few kids were causing trouble? Has your whole family ever been blamed for something your little sister did? It doesn't seem fair, does it? It's just asunfair to blamea whole culture for what two or three people do.So here are some things that you can do to help yourself understand other cultures: 1. Find commonground! Rememberthat even though some people look different on the outside, it doesn't change what they look on the inside. They still have the samefeelings!2. Don't blame everyone because of one! 'So let's-say someone from another culture is being mean and you decide to avoid everyone from that culture. Well, think about it Why are you blaming them for something they didn't have anything to do with? Put yourself in their shoes. Howwould you feel? Trying, to understand how a person thinks can be a very good way to understand why they are acting that way. Remember, otherpeople may not think the same way.3. Try to make friends with people from other cultures. You could ask themwhat they know about their culture, or what it was like in their country. Try foods from that culture, or ask them if they know any words in that language. You mightbe surprised at how pure other cultures can be! You call have great discussions and have lots of fun doing new things.4.Know that people always judge other people. If you know what you arethinking then you can help make things easier. Pay attention to what you thinkabout other people. It helps!1.What is mainly discussed in this passage?A.Why there are differences between people.B.What to do to understand other cultures.C.How people feel when they meet people from other cultures.D.Where differences between people lie. 2.In the author' s opinion, one mistake about how we treat culturaldifferences is that we_________.A.cannot see and share what people have in commonB.believe that other people may certainly thin badly of usC.don't want to learn anything valuable in other culturesD.try to find the reason for the differences答案: B指导:细节理解题. A3.The underlined word "celebrate" here most probably means_________.A.to feel proud ofB.to express ideas toC.to praise and enjoyD.to pay attention to答案: C 指导:词义猜想题.celebrate 往常旳意义是“庆贺”,但这里应是“欣赏”之意.celebrate variety意即要把文化旳差异看作是一件好事.4. By saying "... then you can help make things easier. "the author means youwill_________.A. make more friendsB. know more about the worldC. have more fun in lifeD. find fewer differences between you and others答案: D指导:猜想句意题. A very little boy was spending his Saturday morning playing in his sandbox. I work with Volunteers for Wildlife, a rescue and education organization at Bailey Arboretum in Locust Valley. Trying to help injured, displaced or sick creatures can be heartbreaking; survival is never certain. However, when it works, it is simply beautiful.I got a rescue call from a woman in Muttontown. She had found a young owl(猫头鹰) on the ground. When I arrived, I saw a 2-to 3-week-old owl. It had already been placed in a carrier for safety.I examined the chick(雏鸟) and it seemed fine. If I could locate the nest,I might have been able to put it back, but no luck. My next work was to constructa nest and anchor it in a tree. The homeowner was very helpful. A wire basket was found. I put some pine branches into the basket to make this nest safe and comfortable. I placed the chick in the nest, and it quickly calmed down. Now all that was needed were the parents, but they were absent. I gave the homeowner a recording of the hunger screams of owl chicks. These advertise the presence of chicks to adults; they might also encourage our chick to start calling as well. I gave the owner as much information as possible and headed home to see what news the night might bring.A nervous night to be sure, but sometimes the spirits of nature smile on us all! The homeowner called to say that the parents had responded to the recordings.I drove over and saw the chick in the nest looking healthy and active. And it was accompanied in the nest by the greatest sight of all —LUNCH! The parents had done their duty and would probably continue to do so.1.What is unavoidable in the author’s rescue work according to paragraph 1?A.Efforts made in vain.B.Getting injured in his work.C.Feeling uncertain about his future.D.Creatures forced out of their homes.2.Why was the author called to Muttontown?A.To rescue a woman.B.To take care of a woman.C.To look at a baby owl.D.To cure a young owl.3.What made the chick calm down?A.A new nest.B.Some food.C.A recording.D.Its parents.4.How would the author feel about the outcome of the event?A.It's unexpected.B.It's beautiful.C.It's humorous.D.It's discouraging.2 Fifteen years ago, I took a summer vacation in Lecce in southern Italy. After climbing up a hill for a panoramic(全景的) view of the blue sea, white buildings and green olive trees, I paused to catch my breath and then positioned myself to take the best photo of this panorama.Unfortunately, just as I took out my camera, a woman approached from behind, and planted herself right in front of my view. Like me, this woman was here to stop, sigh and appreciate the view.Patient as I was, after about 15 minutes, my camera scanning the sun and reviewing the shot I would eventually take, I grew frustrated. Was it too much to ask her to move so I could take just one picture of the landscape? Sure, I could have asked her, but something prevented me from doing so. She seemed so content in her observation. I didn’t want to mess with that.Another 15 minutes passed and I grew bored. The woman was still there. I decided to take the photo anyway. And now when I look at it, I think her presence in the photo is what makes the image interesting. The landscape, beautiful on its own, somehow coms to life and breathes because this woman is engaging with it.This photo, with the unique beauty that unfolded before me and that woman who “ruined” it, now hangs on a wall in my bedroom. What would she think if she knew that her figure is captured(捕捉) and frozen on some stranger’s bedroom wall?A bedroom, after all, is a very pri vate space, in which some woman I don’t even know has been immortalized(使…… In some ways, she lives in my house.Perhaps we all live in each others’ space. Perhaps this is what photos are for: to remind us that we all appreciate beauty, that we all share a common desire for pleasure, for connection, for something that is greater than us.That photo is a reminder, a captured moment, an unspoken conversation between two women, separated only by a thin square of glass.1.What happened when the author was about to take a photo?A.Her camera stopped working.B.A woman blocked her view.C.Someone asked her to leaveD.A friend approached from behind.2.According to the author, the woman was probably_______.A.enjoying herselfB.losing her patienceC.waiting for the sunsetD.thinking about her past3.In the author’s opinion, what makes the photo so alive?A.The rich color of the landscape.B.The perfect positioning of the camera.C.The woman’s existence in the photo.D.The soft sunlight that summer day.4.The photo on the bedroom wall enables the author to better understand ________.A.the need to be close to natureB.the importance of private spaceC.the joy of the vacation in ItalyD.the shared passion for beauty5.The passage can be seen as the author’s reflections upon _______.A.a particular life experienceB.the pleasure of travelingC.the art of photographyD.a lost friendship3. Stephen Hawking, the brilliant British theoretical physicist who published wildly popular books exploring the mysteries of the universe, has died, according to a family spokesman. He was 76.Considered by many to be the world’s greatest living scientist, Hawking was also a cosmologist, astronomer, mathematician and author of numerous books including the landmark“A Brief History of Time,” which has sold more than 10 million copies. With fellow physicist Roger Penrose, Hawking combined Einstein’s theory of relativity with quantum theory(量子理论) to suggest that space and time would begin with the Big Bang and end in black holes. He also discovered that black holes were not completely black but emit(释放) radiation and would likely eventually evaporate(蒸发) and disappear. “It will be difficult enough to avoid disasters on planet Earth in the next 100 years, let alone next thousand, or million. The human race shouldn’t have all its eggs in one basket or on one plant.Let’s hope we can avoid dropping the basket until we have spread the load.”Hawking suffered from ALS (amyotrophic latcral sclerosis), a disease which is usually fatal within a few years. He was diagnosed in 1963, when he was 21, and doctors initially gave him only a few years to live. The disease left Hawking wheelchair-bound and paralyzed. He was able to move only a few fingers on one hand and was completely dependent on others or on technology for everything—bathing, dressing, eating, even speech. “I have been lucky that my condition has progressed more slowly than is often the case. But it shows that one need not lose hope.”Dramatically, he even guest-starred in the “Star Trek”, “The Simpsons” and the 2014movie “The theory of Everything”.Hawking leaves behind three children and three grandchildren. “We are deeply saddened that our beloved father passed away today,” Hawking’s children, Lucy, Robert and Tim, said in a statement. “He was a great scientist and an extraordinary man whose work and legacy will live on for many years. His courage and persistence with his brilliance and humor inspired people across the world. “We will miss him forever.”1.From the passage, we can learn that _______.A.Hawking was diagnosed with the fatal disease since he was born.B.Hawking was once the main character in the movie and TV series.C.Hawking just published one book titled “A Brief History of Time”D.Hawking had to rely on other people and technology to do everything in life.2.Which of the following is NOT believed by Stephen Hawking?A.The space and time would end in black holes.B.Black holes are not exactly black in color.C.The disasters can be avoided in the next thousand or million years.D.Black holes can give off radiation and will disappear in the end.3.What does the underlined sentence mean?A.The humans should explore other planets to live.B.The humans should stay together to fight the disasters.C.The earth will be destroyed if humans continue to live hereD.No other planets can replace the earth as the living place.4.What would be the best title of the passage?A.A Star Just Went Out in the CosmosB.The Achievements of Stephen HawkingC.Stephen Hawking’s S uffering of the DiseaseD.The Predictions of the Great Man4. B.Movement disorder.C.Visual impairment. D.Loss of memory.14.Which of the following is RIGHT according to the text?A.Cosmobot is designed to play with.B.Cosmobot is costly and not user friendly.C.Cosmobot can be controlled by a computer.D.Anthro Tronix is a designer of a certain company.15.What can we learn from Corinna Lathan?A.She's employed by a British company.B.Cosmobot is popular around the world.C.She wants to make previous products widespread.D.IPods and mobile phones are valued in class.DLife comes in a package. This package includes happiness and sorrow, failure and success, hope and despair.Life is a learningprocess.Experiences in life teach us new lessons and make us a better person. With each passing day we learn to handle various situations.LoveLove plays a pivotal role in our life.Love makes you feel wanted.Without love a person could go hayward and also become cruel and ferocious. In the early stage of our life, our parents are the ones who show us with unconditional love and care;they teach us about what is right and wrong, good and bad.But we always tend to take this for granted. It is only after marriage and having kids that a person understands and becomes sensitive to others' feelings.Kids make a person responsible and mature and help us to understand life better.Happiness and SorrowMaterialistic happiness is short lived, but happiness achieved by bringing a smile on others' face gives a certain level of fulfillment.Peace of mind is the main link to happiness. No mind is happy without peace. We realize the true worth of happiness when we are in sorrow.Sorrow is basically due to death of a loved one, failure and despair. But these things are temporary and pass away.Failure and SuccessFailure is the path to success. It helps us to touch the sky, teaches us to survive and shows us a specific way.Success brings in money, fame, pride and selfrespect. Here it becomes very important to keep our head on our shoulder. The only way to show our gratitude to God for bestowing success on us is by being humble, modest, courteous and respectful tothe less fortunate ones.Hope and DespairHope is what keeps life going.Parents always hope their children will do well.Hope makes us dream.Hope builds in patience.Life teaches us not to despair even in the darkest hour, because after every night there is a day.Nothing remains the same.We have only one choice to keep moving on in life and be hopeful.Life teaches us not to regret over yesterday, for it has passed and is beyond our control.Tomorrow is unknown, for it could either be bright or dull.So the only alternative is to work hard today,so that we will enjoy a better tomorrow.16.In the passage, the author compares life to ______.A.a package B.joy and sorrowC.failure and success D.hope and despair17.In which section can readers probably read the passage?A.Opinions. D.In order of importance.19.What's the general meaning of the last sentence of the whole passage?A.If you work hard, you'll have a better life in the future.B.When choosing between “today” and “tomorrow”,you'd better enjoy tomorrow.C.What you only can choose is to work hard today rather than tomorrow.D.Enjoying a better tomorrow is your only choice.20.What's the purpose of the passage?A.To encourage people to love each other.B.To tell people how to deal with happiness and sorrow.C.To remind people of keeping having a beautiful dream.D.To give readers some information about life.第二节阅读表达You may not realize it,but you are doing more than just studying when you are at school. The school is also the place where youlearn______.But this is not always easy. What can you do if you just don't like one of your classmates? If you discover that you have problems getting along with yourclassmates or friends, the most important thing to learn is tolerance.Tolerance is the ability to realize and respect the differences in others. We can not change the way that other people do things,so it is important to learn to live happily with them.Tolerance will make everyone get on better with each other.Knowing others constantly makes us understand others' differences.Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad.Tolerance teaches us to keep an even temper and an open mind. You need to remember an old saying,“Treat others how you want to be treated.” You would like to be treated kindly by your classmates,so it is important to treat them kindly too.If you tolerate something,it does not mean that you have to like it.No one is asking you to change who you are or what you believe in.Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change. It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone's life easier.Learn to accept people for their different abilities and interests. The world is very different, and practicing tolerance in your own school and city can help make a difference.1.What is the main idea of the text?(within 10 words)________________________________________________________________ ________2.Which sentence in the text can be replaced by the following one?Getting to know someone may help you understand why they do things differently.________________________________________________________________ ________3.Please fill in the blank in the first paragraph with proper words or phrases to complete the sentence.(within 10 words)________________________________________________________________ ________4.Why is tolerance important? How can you get along well with your classmates?(within 30 words)________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________5.Translate the underlined sentence in the last paragraph into Chinese.________________________________________________________________ ________参考答案第一节A1. 答案:C解析:主旨大意题。

【全国卷】2019年高考英语复习考前冲刺模拟卷二第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)第一节 (共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
A.Summer comes and we start thinking of ways to increase liquid intake. Water-rich fruits like watermelon become a basic part of your diet during summer. These fruits can certainly help to stop our thirst. Watermelons are not only nutritious but also help us beat the summer heat. However, can watermelons be shared with our pet dog? There is absolutely no harm in giving a watermelon to your pet. Watermelons are excellent sources of vitamins A and C as well as minerals. Moreover, they help to stop your pet’s thirst as they contain more than 70% water. Before sharing a watermelon with your dog, make sure that you do not feed beyond his ability to digest. The amount you feed will vary depending upon how big your dog is. For instance, if you have a small breed dog, giving a small slice is enough. However, an adult Golden Retriever certainly has the ability to consume more slices. Also, make sure that you remove the seeds before feeding watermelon slices to your dog. This is because dogs find the seeds very difficult to digest; hence their consumption is likely to cause stomach upset. Moreover, the seeds can actually be harmful to your dog as the seeds can be poisonous to your dog when eaten too much. Even taking a few may cause stomach upset in some dogs. So it is best to avoid feeding the seeds to your pet.As far as offering the skin of the watermelon is concerned, you should avoid it. While the rind(外皮) contains a great number of nutrients, if not chewed properly and swallowed, it can get stuck in the stomach and cause a serious digestive problem in dogs.On the whole , whi le watermelon is not bad for a dog’s health, feeding it in small portions without the skin and the seeds is necessary to keep digestive issues at bay.21. Which of the following isn’t the reason why watermelons can be shared withthe pet?A. They are rich in vitamins.B. They contain superior minerals.C. They can provide enough water.D. They can strengthen the digestivesystem.【答案】:D22. What decides the amount of the watermelon you share with a pet?A. They type of a pet.B. The size of a pet.C. The ripeness of a watermelon.D. How Arts Promote Our EconomyWhen most people think of the arts, they imagine the end product, the beautiful painting,a wonderful piece of music,or an award-winning performance in the theater. But arts groups bring broader value to our communities. The economic impact of the arts is often overlooked and badly judged. The arts create jobs that help develop the economy.Any given performance takes a tour bus full of artists, technical experts, managers, musicians,or writers to create an appealing piece of art. These people earn a living wage for their professional knowledge and skills.Another group of folks is needed to help market the event."If you build it they will come"is a misleading belief.Painters, digital media experts, photographers, booking agents and promoters are hired to sell tickets and promote the event.According to the Dallas Area Cultural Advocacy Coalition, arts agencies employ more than10,000people as full-or part-time employees or independent contractors.A successful arts neighborhoods creates a ripple effect(连锁反应)throughout a community.In2005, when the Bishop Arts Theatre was donated to our town, the location was considered a poor area of town. After investing more than$1million in reconstructing the building,we began producing a full season of theater performances, jazz concerts, and year-round arts education programs in2008.Nearly40percent of jazz lovers live outside of the Dallas city limits and drive or fly in to enjoy an evening in the Bishop Arts District. No doubt the theater has contributed to the area's development and economic growth.Today, there are galleries, studios, restaurants and newly built work spaces where neighbors share experiences, where there is renewed life and energy. In this way, arts and culture also serve as a public good.Teco Theatrical Productions Inc.made use of Bloomberg's investment of$35,000to get nearly $400,000in public and private sector support during the two-year period.Further,Dallas arts and arts-based businesses produce$298for every dollar the city spends on arts programming and facilities. In Philadelphia, a metro area smaller than Dallas, the arts have an economic impact of almost$3million and support44,000 jobs,80percent of which actually lie outside the arts industry, including accountants, marketers, construction workers, hotel managers, printers, and other kinds of art workers. The arts are efficient economic drivers and when they are supported, the entire small-business community benefits. It is wrong to assume arts groups cannot make a profit. But in order to stay in business, arts groups must produce returns. If you are a student studying the arts, chances are you have been ill-advised to have a plan B.But those who truly understand the economic impact and can work to change the patterns can create a wide range of career possibilities.Arts as an economicdriverOur communities from arts in terms of economy.of arts' promoting our economy Arts activity demands a(n)effort. It involves creation, performance, and.★Artists make a living through their creative work.★Others get paid by marketing the event.Arts have a gradually spreading. They could help promote other industries whether they lie inside or outside arts.★Besides tickets, some jazz lovers will pay their to and from the events.★Arts contribute to cultural development when people gather together to share their experience and renew their energy.Investment in arts could produce potential economic results.★TeCo used a$35,000art investment to attract an overall support of $400,000.★In Dallas, one dollar invested in arts could harvest and extraordinary return of nearly$300.★In Philadelphia the arts have created about35,000job opportunities for workers arts industry.Art students making a good living With these in mind, art students need not worry about their career and have a(n)plan.2.(5分)任务型阅读Why Do We Get Angry?Anger seems simple when we are feeling it,but the causes of anger are various.Knowing these causes can make us examine our behavior, and correct bad habits. The main reasons we get angry are triggering(触发)events, personality traits(特征),and our assessment of situations.Triggering events for anger are so many that to describe them all would take hundreds of pages. However, here are some examples:being cut off in traffic,a deadline approaching, experiencing physical pain, and much more. The reason why someone is triggered by something and others are not is often due to one's personal history and psychological traits. Each person,no matter who they are,has psychological imbalances.People who have personality traits that connect with competitiveness and low upset tolerance are much more likely to get angry. Also, sometimes pre-anger does not have to do with a lasting condition, but rather a temporary state before a triggering event has occurred.Sometimes even routine occurrences become sources of pre-anger,or anger itself.Sometimes ignorance and negative(消极的)outlooks on situations can create anger. However, anger can easily turn violent, and it is best to know the reasons for anger to appear in order to prevent its presence. With these main reasons in mind,we can evaluate our level of anger throughout the day and prevent cases of outbursts by comprehending the reasons for our feelings.A.Our attitude and viewpoint on situations can create anger within us as well.B.But some types of situations can help us to get rid of the occurrence of anger.C.Anger is rarely looked upon as a beneficial character trait, and is usually advised to reduce it.D.Anger is a particularly strong feeling and maybe people think that they have reasons to feel angry.E.Having these personality traits implies the pre-anger state, where anger is in the background of your mind.F.Understanding these reasons will control our own anger if we are willing to evaluate ourselves with a critical eye.G.Not everyone acts the same in response to events, and that is why what triggers one person may or may not trigger another.3.(25分)阅读短文,并按照题目要求用英语回答问题。

(16)AI was parked in front of the mall wiping off my car.I had just come from the car wash and was waiting for my wife to get out of work.Coming my way from across the parking lot was what society would consider a bum. From the looks of him, he had no car, no home, no clean clothes, and no money. There are times when you feel generous but there are other times that you just don't want to be bothered. This was one of those “don't want to be bothered times”.“ I hope he doesn't ask me for any money,” I thought. He didn't.He came and sat on the edge of the pavement in front of the bus stop but he didn'tlook like he could have enough money to even ride the bus. After a few minutes he spoke.“That's a very pretty car,” he said.He was in rags but he had an air of dignity around him.His badly-grown blond beard kept more than his face warm.I said, “thanks,” and continued wiping off my car.He sat there quietly as I worked. The expected plea(乞求) for money never came.As the silence between us widened, something inside said, “ask him if he needs any help.” I was sure that he would say “yes”but I held true to the inner voice.“Do you need any help?” I asked. He answered in three simple words that I shall never forget. We often look for wisdom in great men and women. We expect it from those of higher learning and achievements.I expected nothing but an outstretched dirty hand.He spoke the three words that shook me.“Don't we all?” he said.1. Why did the writer parked his car before the mall?A. Because he wanted to pick up his wife.B. Because he wanted to show off his car.C. Because he wanted to wipe off his car.D. Because he wanted to do some shopping.2. Which has the closest meaning to the underlined word "bum" in Paragraph 2?A. dustmanB. driverC. beggarD. robber3. Which is the best title for this text?A. A good husbandB. Didn't he need help?C. Don't we all?D. One should be generous参考答案1-3 ACCBThe parents of a troubled teen may feel unsure as to whom to turn to in order to find help for their child. They may feel as if they have exhausted all of their options, and sometimes they are on the verge of giving up. But there is hope. Schools for troubled teens offer discipline and in some cases, drug treatment programs that can provide important life skills, and more importantly, a fresh start. The following is a list of the most effective types of schools for troubled teens. Not every facility is a match for every child, but by knowing the differences between them, parents can make a better educated decision about where to send their teenager. Boarding SchoolsWhen a child is unable to deal with the relative freedom of a standard school day, boarding schools might be a good choice. At boarding schools, the child lives in a dorm setting, where almost every minute of the day is scheduled by school administrators.Treatment CentersWhen a teenager has an addiction to drugs or alcohol, a residential center that specializes in young people is an outstanding way to help them break the cycle of addiction. Treatment centers feature individual and group counseling to help identifythe root causes of the drug problem and help develop the life skills needed to stay clean when the program is over.Wilderness ProgramsDesigned to help improve the discipline and self-reliance of the child, wilderness programs send kids back to nature. By placing them in a foreign and sometimes uncomfortable setting, wilderness programs hope to improve children’s behavior. Programs generally include hikes, exercise programs and team building exercises. Boot CampsBoot camps are the most extreme style of school for troubled teens. These facilities are modeled after actual military boot camps, where the individual must get into shape, work as part of a team, and follow a long, hard set of rules and regulations. However, boot camps might not be the best choice for a teen with a drug addiction.4. Who would be the intended readers of the passage?A. Teachers.B. Parents.C. Students.D. Experts.5. One of her ideas,a lever (操作杆) on the inside of a vehicle that would control an arm on the outside, became the first windshield wiper.Today we benefit from countless inventions and innovations. It’s hard to imagine driving without Garrett A.Morgan’s traffic light. It’s equally impossible to picture a world without Katherine J.Blodgett’s innovation that makes glass invisible. Can you picture life without clear windows and eyeglasses?1.By mentioning “traffic light” and “windshield wiper”,the author indicates that countless inventions are .A.beneficial,because their inventors are famousB.beneficial, though their inventors are less famousC.not useful, because their inventors are less famousD.not useful, though their inventors are famous2.Professor Joan McLean’ s course aims to .A.add color and variety to students’ campus liferm students of the windshield wiper’s inventionC.carry out the requirements by Mountain UniversityD.prepare students to try their own invention3.Tommy Lee’ s invention of the unbreakable umbrella was .A.not eventually accepted by the umbrella producerB.inspired by the story behind the windshield wiperC.due to his dream of being caught in a rainstormD.not related to Professor Joan McLean’ s lectures4.Which of the following can best serve as the title of this passage?( )A.How to Help Students to Sell Their Inventions to Producers?B.How to Design a Built-in Device for Cleaning the Window?C.Shouldn’t We Know Who Invented the Windshield Wiper?D.Shouldn’t We Develop Invention Courses in Universities?

Staff training must have a purpose, which I defined(解释) when a firm considers its training needs, which are in turn based on job descriptions and job specifications.A job description should give details of the performance that is required for a particular job, and a job specification should give information about the behaviour, knowledge and skills that are expected of an employee who works in it. When all of this has been collected, it is possible to make a training specification. This specifies that the training department must teach for the successful performance of the job, and also the best methods to use in the training period. There are many different training methods, and there are advantages and disadvantages of all of them. Successful training performances depend on an understanding of the difference between learning about skills and training in using them. It is frequently said that learning about skills takes place “off the job” in classroom, but training in using theseskills takes place “on the job,”by means of such activities as practice in the workshop. It’s always difficult to evaluate the costs of a training programme. The success of such a programme depends not only on the methods used but also on the quality of the staff who do the training. The evaluation of management training is much more complex than that.60.To be successful in our training programme, we must understand the difference between.A.a job description and a job specification B.what is taught, and how it is taughtC.the costs and the quality of the programme D.the training contents and training in using61.According to passage, which of the following statements is NOT true?A.As there exist weak points in different departments of a firm, the training of its staff ishighly necessary.B.A training specification is based on the information collectedfrom a job description and a job specification.C.Training in using skills and learning about skills usually do not happen at the same time.D.It’s easier to evaluate management training than to evaluatethe training of workers and technicians.62.The best title for the passage might be .A.Staff training and its evaluation B.A successful training programmeC.How to describe and specify a job D.The importance of training the staff63.From the passage we know the success of a training programme lies in .A.the training methods and the quality of the training staffB.the performance of the trainees in the programmeC.the places where the training programmes take placeD.the way to evaluate the training programmeCFive years ago, David Smith wore an expensive suit to work every day. “I was a clothes addict(有瘾旳人)”he jokes.“I used to carry a fresh suit to work with me so I could change if my clothes got wrinkled.”Today David wears casual clothes—khaki pants and a sports shirt—to the office. He hardly ever wears a necktie.“I am working harder than ever.”David says,“and I need to feel comfortable.”More and more companies are allowing their office workers to wear casual clothes to work. In the United States, the change from formal to casual office wear has been gradual. In the early 1990s, many companies allowed their employees to wear casual clothes on Friday(but only on Friday). This became known as“dress-down Friday”or“casual Friday”. “What started out as an extra one-day-a-week benefit for employees has really become an everyday thing.”said business consultant Maisly Jones. Why have so many companies started allowing their employees to wear casual clothes? One reason is that it’s easier for a company to attract new employees if it has a casual dress code.”“A lot of young people don’t want to dress up for work,” says the owner of a software company,“so it’s hard to hire people if you have a conservative(保守旳)dress code.”Another reason is that people seem happier and more productive when they are wearing comfortable clothes. In a study conducted by Levi Strauss and Company, 85 percent of employers said that they believethat casual dress improves employee morale(心境,士气). Only 4 percent of employers said that casual dress has a negative influence on productivity. Supporters of casual office wear also argue that a casual dress code helps them save money. “Suits are expensive, if you have to wear one every day,”one person said. “For the same amount of money, you can buy a lot more casual clothes.”64.David Smith refers to himself as having been“a clothes addict,” because .A.he often wore khaki pants and a sports shirt B.he couldn’t stand a clean appearanceC.he wanted his clothes to look neat all the time D.he didn’t want to spend much money on clothes65.David Smith wears casual clothes now, because .A.they make him feel at ease when working B.he cannot afford to buy expensive clothesC.he looks handsome in casual clothes D.he no longer works for any company66.According to this passage, which of the following statements is FALSE?A.Many employees don’t like a conservative dress code.B.Comfortable clothes make employees more productive.C.A casual clothes code is welcomed by young employees.D.All the employers in the U. Both were known as strong currencies across the world, so it is not surprising that Britain wants to have its people vote about changing currencies before making a decision. In the 15-member European Union, Britain, Denmark and Sweden chose not to adopt the euro. The decision about a single currency was taken 10 years ago. On January 1,1999,11 European countries began to use the new euro currency: Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Portuguese, Spain. This was an actual reply from a parent after I put out a request for volunteers for my kids lacrosse(长曲木昆球)club.I guess that there's probably some demanding work schedule, or social anxiety around stepping up to help for an unknown sport. She may just need a little persuading. So I try again and tug at the heartstrings. I mention the single parent with four kids running the show and I talk about the dad coaching a team that his kids aren't even on 1■■ At this point the unwilling parent speaks up,"Alright. Yes, I'll do it."I'm secretly relieved because I know there's real power in sharing volunteer responsibilities among many. The unwilling parent organizes the meal schedule, sends out emails, and collects money for end-of-season gifts. Somewhere along the way, the same parent ends up becoming an invaluable member of the team. The coach is able to focus on the kidswhile the other parents are relieved to be off the hook for another season. Handing out sliced oranges to bloodthirsty kids can be as exciting as watching your own kid score a goal.Still, most of us volunteers breathe a sigh of relief when the season comes to a close. That relief is coupled with a deep understanding of why the same people keep coming back for more: Connecting to the community(社区)as you freely give your time, money, skills, or services provides a real joy. Volunteering just feels so good.In that sense, I'm pretty sure volunteering is more of a selfish act than I'd freely like to admit.

The farmland is decreasing with each passing day.How to meet the need of feeding the growing population? One way is to introduce some high-output gene into a crop to enable it to produce more可知,转基因食品就是为了满足快速增长的人口需要。
故选A。
As a scientist I must admit GM foods involve great risks to humans. In fact in Europe they’re called “Frankenstein foods” by many.Frankenstein is a character in a novel. He was a very clever scientist. He created a monster(怪物),which eventually killed him可知,欧洲人认为转基因食品是可怕的,故他们拒绝该食品,所以选A。
Therefore,it’s very important we have to make sure the soybean,if genetically modified,is free from any poisonous matter harmful to human beings. For this we need very good testing表示结果,而划线处的句子表示原因,结合上下文语境可知,找到转基因大豆的根源是很困难的,故选C。
I was not strong enough to resist his offer.
