茅盾的译文:可怜的玛罗希咖悲悲戚戚的啼哭着,在山脚边慢慢儿地 爬。四面都是深到几尺的雪,没有一星人迹,也没有野兽的脚印。 玛罗希咖向前慢慢的爬,又冷又饿,没有一点儿气力。“住在天上 的好上帝呀,”她祷告,“请你快来带我去,免得多受苦呀!’原文 只简单的描述糟糕的天气情况和玛罗希伽的情况,但茅盾却详细而 生动地描述了玛罗希咖的行为和心理活动,译文更加突出玛西罗咖 的善良和海良娜的邪恶。

Use of the vernacular

Mao Dun
M ao Dun (July 4, 1896–March 27, 1981) was the pen name of Shen Dehong (Shen Yanbing), a 20th century Chinese novelist, cultural critic, and journalist. He was also the Minister of Culture of China from 1949 to 1965. He is currently renowned as one of the best realist novelists in the history of modern China. He died on M arch 27, 1981 (aged 84) in Beijing.
As a founder in modern Chinese literature, Mao Dun has not only distinguished works in literary translation but also outstanding contribution in opening up modern literary translation criticism, which takes very important position. Mao Dun promoted a big transformation from the traditional literary translation criticism to the modern one, applied Taine s translation Criticism in Chinese modern literary translation and put forward the special theory of modern literary translation criticism.
