The One With the Holiday ArmadilloWritten by: Greg MalinsTranscribed by: Eric Aasen710
7.10 The One With The Holiday ArmadilloRoss has his son, Ben, for the holidays and decides to teach him about Hanukkah.Ben can't handle the idea of no visit from Santa, so Ross tries at the last minute to find a Santa costume. The rental shop is all out so he rents an Armadillo costume instead.Things go from bad to worse but in the end he finally gets to give Ben Hanukkah and Christmas.Phoebe's apartment is finally done being rebuilt after the fire.Worried that Rachel won't want to move back in with her, she tries to rive(vt.撕开) a wedge(n.楔) between Joey and Rachel by giving Joey a drumset and a tarantula. It backfires, but Rachel wants to live with Phoebe anyway. The apartment looks great but no longer has two separate bedrooms.Phoebe likes the spaciousness(n.宽广宽敞), so Rachels keeps living with Joey.Chandler tries to master the art of smoothing slipping someone money during a handshake.[Scene: Monica, Chandler, and Phoebe's, Chandler is on the phone, Rachel and Monica are sitting in the kitchen.]Chandler: Buh-bye. (Hangs up the phone) I've just got us reservations at Michelle’s and tickets to the Musicman to celebrate our first holiday season as a betroughed couple. The Music Man is a musical(n.音乐剧) with a book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. In 1957, the show became a hit on Broadway and spawned revivals, a popular film and is still frequently produced by both professional and amateur theatre companies.Broadway theatre is the most prestigious form of professional theatre in the U.S., as well as the most well known to the general public and most lucrative for the performers, technicians and others involved in putting on the shows. Along with London's West End theatre, Broadway theatre is usually considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the English speaking world.Broadway theatre, or a Broadway show, refers to a performance, usually a play or musical presented in one of the thirty-nine large professional theatres with 500 seats or more locatedin the Theatre District of the New York City borough of Manhattan. The shows that reach Broadway and thrive there have historically been perceived as more mainstream and less cutting edge(adj.前沿的尖端的) than those produced Off- and Off-Off-Broadway or in regional non-profit theatres such as the Cleveland Playhouse in Cleveland, the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis and the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts.Monica:Betrothed… (Corrects him)betrothed a. Phoebe: (entering carrying a skull) Hey!Chandler: Hey!Rachel and Monica: Hi!Phoebe: Haaaa... The festival is observed(v.庆祝) in Jewish homes by the kindling(n.点燃) of lights on each night of the holiday - one on the first night, two on the second, and so on.Hanukka, from the Hebrew word for "dedication," marks the re-dedication of the Temple after its desecration(n.亵渎神圣污辱) byAntiochus[<希神>安太阿卡斯] IV and commemorates the "miracle of the cruze of oil."

Thank you for your opinions, but i think i've already made my decisions. Maybe i wouldn't have been earning this little money if i went to a college.(如果当年去读大学的话我现在可能就不只挣这么点钱了)i really shouldn't have quited school that early.(我真不该那么早就辍学了)情景3:大家都觉得ross 和rechal突然结婚有些不可思议,Joey说:“是啊,我都不知道他们复合了”(i know, i don'teven know they are dating again).chandler本来兴致勃勃要和monica去注册的,被他们这么一闹着实有些郁闷,说:“与其说他们复合了,还不如说他们被两瓶伏特加酒给附身了!”(呵呵,ross和rechal确实醉得不轻,形象!)i don't think they are as much dating as they are two bottles of vodka walking around in human form.not as much …as: 与其说是… Aha,i don't think he's as much dancing with her as he is striving to avoid trampling her toes.情景4:天真的pheobe觉得在拉斯维加斯注册的话婚姻就只在这里有效,所以她很无所谓的说“有什么大不了的嘛,又不是真结婚”(what's the big deal? it's not like it's a real marrige.)-----------------------------------------------------------------------------it's not a big deal 普通句,没什么大不了的。

【101】The One Where Monica Gets a New Roommateantique‘sNO.1 The One Where Monica Gets a New Roommate补充介绍一下Friends的官方站点,Url是/friends, 如果有什么纠纷,相信那里是最权威的地方查阅了,另外,在世博英语发现了一个用Friends学习英语的系列,大家也可以去那里看看。
或者the one where,或者the one which...
1.Chandler :So does he have a hump? A hump and a hairpiece? 有假发的驼子?2.Ross: I just feel like someone reached down my throat, grabbed my small intestine, pulled it out of my mouth and tied it around my neck..

Phoebe: Okay, okay. If I were omnipotent for a day, I would want, um, world peace, no more hunger, good things for the rain-forest...And bigger boobs!【解析】Pheobe说,她如果无所不能(omnipotent),那么她希望世界和平,没有饥饿,雨林不会遭到破坏(good things for the rain-forest),还有更大的胸部(boobs)。
Joey: Hey, if Little Joey's dead, then I got no reason to live!Ross: Joey, uh- OMnipotent.Joey: You are?
Ross: Yeah, see.. you took mine. Chandler, what about you?【解析】you take mine:虽然没有确切的资料解释这个句子,但是从对话的意思,Ross和Pheobe想的一样,是一个和平主义者,希望没有饥饿,雨林不会遭到破坏。
