《英美文化与国家概况》课程教学大纲学分:3.0学时:52适用专业:商务英语、应用英语一、课程性质(定位)与任务课程性质:商务英语专业的必修专业技能基础课程,是一门素质拓展课。
通过本课程的学习,达到开阔学生视野,扩大学生知识面的目的。
课程目标:通过介绍英国和美国这两个最有代表性的英语国家的历史、地理、社会、经济、政治、教育及其文化传统,使学生对西方思想的形成有进一步的认识,扩展自身人文知识,为学生在英语学习中扫除缺乏背景知识的障碍,提高学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性,培养学生跨文化交际能力。

开设本课的目的在于使学生通过学习,了解英美国家的历史、地理、社会、经济、政治、教育等方面的情况及其文化传统,内容庞杂、信息量大。
培养学生正确分析有关英美等国问题的能力,并能以正确的眼光看待世界上所发生的问题,提高学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性,培养学生跨文化交际能力。
把学生培养成为高素质的人才,同时又能爱祖国、热爱社会主义,致力为祖国的繁荣、发达而努力的人才,培养学生树立正确世界观。
同时,通过课文的学习和各种练习的实践,达到提高英语水平的目的。

《英美概况》教学大纲
适用专业:英语各专业
总学时:36
一、课程的性质`目的和基本要求
本课程是大学英语专业的公共基础课。
其目的是:在学生已具有一定英语语言能力的基础上,辅以主要英语国家的背景知识,着重加强在历史,政治,文化及传统等方面的了解,为其他英语专业课程的学习(尤其是英汉互译)、毕业论文的撰写及今后的商务工作夯实基础。
本课程以课堂教学与课外教学并重。
课堂上提炼重点,引导学生从中找到自己感兴趣的知识点,并鼓励课后进行放大性探索和研究,养成找点,连线,成面的良好治学习惯和有效的方法。

图书馆查阅资料,收集资料,撰写阶段性论文,继而连成课程(学期)论文。
四、对能力培养的要求
形成找点,成文的能力及学会做学问的基本套路,并相应扩大词汇量以利于扩大阅读面。
