高中英语阅读理解的技巧和方法第1篇文章的转折也是体现作者观点和文章主题的地方,一些明显的转折词包括:but, however, on the contrary, yet, as a matter of fact, in fact, actually等。
这种题目在文章中的线索非常明显,一般都带有如下的标志性词汇:for example, for instance, take … as an example, as, such as, like等。

"I used to work in school catering and saw a lot of money being thrown away. I thought that was criminal, so I decided to do something about it," said Italian school chef Tiziano Vicentini. Now, Vicentini has an amazing range of edible plates for schools. The plates are made out of bread dough, so you can eat them afterwards. "These dishes cost a few pennies each and are either eaten by the kids, or go into recycling bins for animal food," explained Vicentini, 50, of Milan. Their products are environmentally-friendly, 100% biodegradable and can be used for all types of catering and home use. And they're made from a natural plant. After use, they can be fed to animals or left to degrade naturally. They also have a range of cutlery(餐具) made from corn and potato starch(淀粉). No poem should ever be discussed or "analyzed", until it has been read aloud by someone, teacher or student. Better still, perhaps, is the practice of reading it twice, once at the beginning of the discussion and once at the end, so the sound of the poem is the last thing one hears of it. All discussions of poetry are, in fact, preparations for reading it aloud, and the reading of the poem is, finally, the most telling 'interpretation' of it, suggesting tone, rhythm, and meaning all at once. Hearing a poet read the work in his or her own voice, on records or on film, is obviously a special reward. But even those aids to teaching cannot replace the student and teacher reading it or, best of all, reciting it.I have come to think, in fact, that time spent reading a poem aloud is much more important than "analyzing" it, if there isn't time for both. I think one of our goals as teachers of English is to have students love poetry. Poetry is "a criticism of life", "a heightening of life, enjoyment with others". It is "an approach to the truth of feeling", and it "can save your life". It also deserves a place in the teaching of language and literature more central than it presently occupies.I am not saying that every English teacher must teach poetry. Those who don't like it should not be forced to put that dislike on anyone else. But those who do teach poetry must keep in mind a few things about its essential nature, about its sound as well as its sense, and they must make room in the classroom for hearing poetry as well as thinking about it.(1)The passage indicates that analyzing a poem is .A. not essential at allB. a preparation for appreciating itC. an approach to understanding itD. optional in class sometimes(2)The recitation of a poem by the teacher or a student in the classroom .A. is the best way to understand itB. easily arouses some discussion among the studentsC. helps the teacher to analyze itD. can not take the place of the poet reading it(3)Which of the following statements may the author agree with?A. The most important teaching goal is to have students read and recite every poem they learn.B. Poetry is the foundation of all languages and literature courses.C. The teaching of poetry should have been much more stressed.D. Every English teacher is supposed to convey their love of poetry to their students.【答案】(1)D(2)A(3)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇议论文,作者阐述了诗歌教学的重要性。

Here is a record of the discussion about AI (artificial intelligence) conducted by several scientists:Scientist A: I would say that we are quite a long way off developing the AI, though I do think it will happen within the next thirty or forty years. We will probably remain in control of technology and it will help us solve many of the world's problems. However, no one really knows what will happen if machines become more intelligent than humans. They may help us, ignore us or destroy us. I tend to believe AI will have a positive influence on our future lives, but whether that is true will be partly up to us.Scientist B: I have to admit that the potential consequences of creating something that can match or go beyond human intelligence frighten me. Even now, scientists are teaching computers how to learn on their own. At some point in the near future, their intelligence may well take off and develop at an ever-increasing speed. Human beings evolve biologically very slowly and we would be quickly substituted. In the short term, there is the danger that robots will take over millions of human jobs, creating a large underclass of unemployed people. This could mean large-scale poverty and social unrest. In the long term machines might decide the world would be better without humans.Scientist C: I'm a member of the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots. Forget the movie image of a terrifying Terminator stamping on human skulls and think of what's happening right now: military machines like drones, gun turrets and sentry robots are already being used to kill with very little human input. The next step will be autonomous “murderbots” following orders but finally deciding who to kill on their own. It seems clear to me that this would be extremely dangerous for humans. We need to be very cautious indeed about what we ask machines to do.(1)What is Scientist B worried about?A. AI technology will destroy the earth.B. Computers can't think by themselves.C. Robots will take the place of humans.D. Humans will be unhappy without machines.(2)What does the underlined word “this” in the last paragraph refer to?A. I launched the campaign to Stop Killer Robots.B. We forget the movie image of a terrifying Terminator.C. “Murderbots” can't decide by themselves.D. “Murderbots” will be against humans' orders.(3)Which statement is CORRECT according to the record?A. Scientist A thinks AI technology will never develop.B. The employment will be affected by AI technology in the future.C. “Murderbots” will follow the orders of their manufacturers in the wars.D. All the three scientists agree that AI technology will benefit human beings.(4)Who agree(s) AI has more negative aspects than positive aspects?A. Scientist AB. Scientist BC. Scientists B & CD. It can cause major events to be postponed. And severe stormy weather can be dangerous to people, fortune and anima1.If you weather the storm, or ride out the storm, you survive and move on without harm or injury. For example, 1et's talk about Tornado Alley, the name for part of the central United States. During springtime, this area often has a large number of powerful tornadoes. People who live there are taught to shelter in the safest place they can find and wait for the storm to pass. People who live in Tornado Alley are used to weathering many storms! You can als o weather a storm, but it doesn't involve actual weather. “To weather the storm” can also mean to make it through a difficult experience or trying times. So, if the stock market(股市)crashes, you might have to weather a financial storm.Often before a big storm, conditions are calm. The calm before the storm can happen anytime. It is the time before something bad happens. For example, at the beginning of a family reunion, the adults were all talking happily. But the older children knew it was just the calm before the storm. They've seen it happen before. The adults talk happily for about an hour. Then they start arguing about events from the past—things that should really stay buried! But after the storm begins and you find yourself in the middle of it, you are in the eye of the storm. In the world of weather, the eye of the storm is the calmest part, in the center of a hurricane, for example. However, in the English language, if you are in the eye of the storm, you are in the most intense part of a conflict. For example, she had no idea that walking into the meeting would put her in the eye of the storm. However, a brainstorm does not exist in the world of weather. 阅读理解Coral reefs (珊瑚礁) are an integral part of sea life and sustain it by providing shelter and habitat to various organisms. They also supply and recycle nutrients as well as enable a growing fish population, along with other species, for a healthy and diverse ecosystem. However, the rise in average water temperatures due to climate change has resulted in more frequent and longtime coral bleaching (白化现象) events that damage their health, causing fish and other sea species to abandon them.In order to restore this delicate ecosystem, scientists from the UK and Australia conducted a study that involved using loudspeakers underwater near damaged coral reefs to make them sound healthy and attract fish, potentially kick-starting the natural recovery process of coral reefs and their dependent life forms. The location for this experiment was the Great Barrier Reef in the Coral Sea, found alongside the east coast of Queensland, Australia. The site is noted to have the largest coral reef system in the world."Healthy coral reefs are remarkably noisy places-the crackle of snapping shrimp and the whoops and grunts of fish. Young fish concentrate on these sounds when they're looking for a place to settle," said Steve Simpson, study co-author and a professor at the University of Exeter, UK.By using loudspeakers to copy such sounds, parts of dead coral reefs were found to attract twice as many fish, compared to places where no sounds were played. "These returning fish, are crucial for coral reefs to function as healthy ecosystems. Boosting fish populations in this way could help to kick-start natural recovery processes, preventing the damage we're seeing on many coral reefs around the world," said lead author, Tim Gordon.(1)What causes the phenomenon of coral bleaching?A.Diverse species.B.Noise pollution.C.Fishing industry.D.Climbing temperatures.(2)What approach is introduced to recover the coral reefs?A.Removing damaged coral reefs.ing loudspeakers to keep fish away.C.Building new homes for sea species.D.Playing certain sounds to appeal to fish.(3)Why are Steve Simpson's words quoted?A.To provide some findings of the study.B.To show the progress of the experiment.C.To explain reasons for the new approach.D.To give another solution to the problem.(4)What can we infer from the last paragraph?A.The attempts are in vain.B.Natural recovery is impossible.C.Initial success has been achieved.D.The coral reefs have returned to normal.【答案】(1)D(2)D(3)C(4)C【解析】【分析】本文是一篇说明文,由于气候变化导致的平均水温上升导致了更频繁、更长期的珊瑚白化事件,而为了恢复这一脆弱的生态系统,科学家们在受损的珊瑚礁附近使用水下扩音器,让珊瑚听起来更健康,从而能够吸引鱼类。

We think about the mistakes we made in the previous day, how things went wrong, and how we felt bad about it. No wonder it becomes difficult to focus on the current day. Here are some steps on how to start your new day fresh:⒈Take time to evaluate your dayAt the end of a day, take some time to think about it. The purpose of this thinking time is not to regret how bad your day was, how things went wrong, or how people treated you badly. This won't do you any good. Instead, the purpose of this thinking time is to extract(吸取)lessons which you can bring to the following day.⒉Make a commitment to apply the lessonsAfter you extract the lessons, you should make a commitment to apply them. To do so, find some actionable things you can do to apply the lessons. Next, remind yourself to do them. You may write them down if you want to.⒊“Close” your dayAfter you have spent the time to think about the day and extract the lessons, make a decision to “close” the day. You are done with it; don't think about it anymore.⒋Bring only the lessons to the next day and nothing elseAfter you “dose” a day, you should not bring anything out of it to the next day except for the lessons you extract. Focus on applying the lessons to the present. This way you will be able to start your day fresh without the burden of yesterday.(1)What will happen if we think too much about the past?A. The better leaders possess a few qualities that can mean the difference between the success and failure ofthe group. These are the qualities the leader of higher rank will look for when choosing a leaderfor a group, or when evaluating the performance of a leader. They're also the qualities team members want in a group leader, and appreciate when they find them.Take ResponsibilityGroup leaders might share tasks around a group as necessary, but eventually a group leader needs to be able to accept that responsibility lies on his shoulders. That means that if things go wrong in a group project, he's the one who must accept the consequences and work out what mistakes are made. The group leader won't always have the power to control everything group members do, but he should be ready to admit any mistakes the group has made as a result of his leadershipConcern for MembersThe group leader has a commitment to the task or project at hand, but perhaps more importantly, he has a real concern for each and every person who is part of his group. This means getting to know the strengths, weaknesses and goals of team members, as well as making time to build the group through collective activities. The group leader should make sure that everyone is included, even if an individual is new to a group.Good ListenerThe group leader needs to be able to listen to the suggestions, complaints and ideas of group members. Not only will this allow complaints to be addressed and potentially suitable ideas to beput into practice, but a leader who listens will also encourage group members to share their concerns and thoughts, creating an atmosphere of free speech and productivity.(1)The passage is mainly about____________.A. choosing a good leader for a group.B. assessing the performance of a leader.C. team members' appreciation of a leader.D. qualities of a good group leader.(2)A good leader should always be able to_______.A. tell when things go wrong in a group project.B. recognize any mistakes as his own.C. make group members admit their mistakes.D. control everything group members do.(3)According to "Concerns for members", which of the following is a good quality of a leader?A. fairB. reliableC. determinedD. generous(4)Which of the following is not a benefit of the group leader being a good listener?A. These men wanted dogs that were heavy, with strong muscles for working hard and furry coats to protect them from the cold.Buck lived at a big house in a sunny valley in California which was owned by Judge Miller. He was neither a house dog nor a kennel (狗窝) dog. The whole of Judge Miller's land was his. Buck was king—king over all the crawling, flying things of Judge Miller's lands, humans included. His father, Elmo, had been the Judge's inseparable companion. And when he died, Buck took his father's place. He was not so large—he weighed only sixty kilogram—for his mother, Shep, had been a Scottish sheepdog. Hunting and other outdoor activities had hardened his muscle, and swimming had made himhealthy. This was Buck in the autumn of 1897, when the discovery of gold in the Klondike brought Men from everywhere to the frozen north. But Buck did not read the newspapers. And he did not know that Manuel one of the gardeners helper, was not a good man. Manuel gambled (赌博) and wasted the little money he had. I hurried up during this process. One day, however, while at a party, I heard an artist friend telling everybody that his idea came while he was having a shower. “What about you?” he asked, “Don't you get your creative thoughts from the same place?”“I'm in and out in a hurry,” I told him proudly. “I have no time to waste!”“What a pity,” he said. “That's the place where you need to slow down; plenty of great thoughts come from there!” I tried it out. I slowed down the whole process, started enjoying the warm water, taking a little longer to soap myself and even spending more time just enjoying the process, and realized how much I had missed in hurrying up all these years.A woman told me how much stress her friend was suffering from and how she sought to convince her that she needed to find ways to relax. She gave her a videotape on stress management and relaxation techniques, and encouraged her to watch it right away. Years ago, students applying to colleges and universities had to have their applications and personal essays printed out and then “snail-mailed”. Flash forward to today's world of Facebook, Instagram and WeChat, where photos, videos and mobile phones rule. Fortunately, several new tools are making it easier for college applicants to use technology to show off their personalities, skills and creativity.ZEEMEEOne of the more popular innovations in college applications is ZeeMee, a free mobile app that allows students to upload personal profiles and videos to create visual resumes. More than 220 colleges and universities offer a ZeeMee option as part of the application process. The video can show the unique creative aspects of the applicants.THE COALITION LOCKERAnother relatively new tool comes from the Coalition for Access, Affordability and Success, now used by more than 110 member colleges and universities. Among the group's stated goals are getting students engaged in college prep early and using technology to create a supportive application process that encourages reflection and self-discovery.Students who sign up for the free platform get access to a digital “locker”, which they can use all through high school to save class papers, artwork, newspaper stories, videos and photos to share with colleges when they eventually apply.VIDEO — CHAT INTERVIEWSAt some schools, an interview with an admission officer is an important part of the application process. To make it easier, several virtual interviewing tools have popped up, such as a video-based platform from Kira. More than 140 universities worldwide use Kira's video assessment tool to conduct real-time interviews with prospective students. During the interview, candidates are shown the questions prerecorded by the particular school and must respond in real time by talking into the camera on their laptop or phone. In addition to showing their ability, to speak fluently in English and think on their feet, it helps admission officers determine the “motivation, commitment and drive” of applicants.UNIQUE SCHOOL TOOLSSome universities have come up with their own ways to allow students to show their skills and personalities. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, encourages applicants to display their technical abilities and creativity by submitting a “Maker Portfolio” —a written or videotaped description of a project that shows creative and problem-solving skills. While a new app would fit the bill, the project could be anything from an origami design to a potato cannon.(1)Which of the apps give students more guidance from their high school?A. ZEEMEE.B. To fight for the conservation of forest ecosystem, several ecologists including Daniel Janzen convinced Del Oro, an orange juice producer, to donate part of their forestland to a national park. In return, Del Oro was allowed to throw large amounts of waste in the form of orange peels (皮) on a 3-hectare piece of land within the national park at no cost. Dealing with tons of leftover peels usually involved burning them or paying to have them poured into a landfill, so the proposal was very attractive. But a year later, another juice company challenged the deal in court, arguing that their competitor was “polluting a national park”. They ended up winning, and the deal between Del Oro and the national park fell through. Then in 2013, while discussing possible research avenues with Timothy Treuer, Daniel Janzen mentioned the orange story. Feeling interested, Treuer decided to stop by that piece of land that had been covered with fruit waste 15 years earlier. What he found shocked him.“While I would walk over exposed rock and dead grass in the nearby fields, I'd have to climb through undergrowth and cut paths through walls of vines (藤) in the orange peel site itself.” said Timothy Treuer.Treuer and his team spent months picking up samples (样品), analyzing and comparing them. They found great differences between the areas covered with orange peels and those that were not. The area with orange waste had richer soil. The effect that the orange peels had on the land is probably not that surprising to people familiar with composting (施肥), but what is really shocking is that a judge actually thought the waste of orange “mined” a national park and stopped it from going forward. Now that Timothy Treuer's study has received worldwide a ttention, this type of “ruining” is being seriously considered as a way of bringing forests back to life.(1)What did Del Oro usually do with orange peels?A. One of the most striking findings of a newly research in the UK is that of the people interviewed, one in two believes that it is becoming more difficult to meet someone to start a family with. Why are many finding it increasingly difficult to start close relationships? Does modem life really make it harder to fall in love? Or are we making it harder for ourselves? It is certainly the case today that contemporary couples benefit in different ways from relationships. Women no longer rely upon partners for money or status. A man doesn't expect his wife to be in (唯一的) charge of running his household and raising his children. But perhaps the knowledge that we can live perfectly well without a partnership means that it takes much more to persuade people to abandon their independence. In theory, finding a partner should be much simpler these days. Only a few generations ago, your choice of soul mate was limited by geography, social convention and family tradition. Although it was never clear, many marriages were essentially arranged. Now those barriers have been broken down. You can approach a builder or a brain surgeon in any bar in any city on any given evening. When the world is your oyster ( 牡蛎), you surely have a better chance of finding a pearl. But it seems that the old conventions have been replaced by the limitations of choice. The expectations of partners are raised to an unmanageable degree: good looks, impressive salary, kind to grandmother, and right socks. There is no room for error in the first impression. We think that a relationship can be perfect. If it isn't, it should be ended. We work to protect ourselves against future heartache and don't put in the hard emotional labor needed to build a strong relationship. Twelve-hour work at the office makes relaxed after-hours dating difficult. The cost of housing and child-raising creates pressure to have a stable income and Career before a life partnership.(1)What is a contemporary family like in UK today?A. Couples share the burdens.B. Men begin to depend on women.C. Women are responsible for housework.D. It is difficult to take care of a family.(2)Why do people preserve their independence?A. To live alone happily.B. To have more choices.C. To avoid marriages.D. To ignore traditions.(3)What makes it hard for people to date?A. Mental headache in dating.B. The pressure to survive.C. Bad luck in finding a partner.D. The faith between life partners.(4)What is the author trying to inform us in this text?A. Perfect marriages conflict with independence.B. People should, spend more money on marriages.C. The expectations and reality separate the lovers.D. Independence is much more important than love.【答案】(1)A(2)A(3)B(4)C【解析】【分析】本人是一篇说明文,美国最新的一项问卷调查发现,50%的人觉得找到相伴一生的另一半很困难,作者从工作经济压力以及对配偶要求过高等因素进行了分析。

Education is not a bystanders sport. Numerous researchers have shown that when students participate in classroom discussion they hold more positive attitudes toward school, and that positive attitudes promote learning. It is no coincidence that girls are more passive in the classroom discussion and score lower than boys on SATs.We found that at all grade levels in all communities and in all subject areas boys controlled classroom communication. They participated in more interactions than girls did, and their participation became greater as the year went on.Our research contradicted the traditional assumption that girls control classroom communication in reading while boys in math. We found that whether the subject was language arts and English or math and science, boys got more than their fair share of teacher attention. That teachers talk more to male students is simply because boys are more aggressive in grabbing their attention by calling out answers to the teachers' questions first. While girls sit patiently with their hands raised or keep silent. Psychologist Lisa Serbin and K.Daniel O'Leary, then at the state university of New York at stony brook studied classroom interaction at preschool level and found that teachers gave boys more attention, praised them more often and were at least twice as likely to have extended conversations with them.Years of experience have shown that the best way to learn something is to do it yourself. It is also important to give students specific and direct feedback about the quality of their work and answers. Teachers behave differently depending on whether boys or girls are active to provide answers during discussions. During classroom discussion, teachers in our study reacted to boys answers with powerful, precise and effective responses, while they often gave girls mild and unclear reactions because of their silence. Too often, girls remain in the dark about the quality of their answers. Active students receiving precise feedback are more likely to achieve academically. And they are more likely to be boys. This kind of communication game is played at work, as well as at school. As reported in numerous studies, it goes like this.Men speak more often and frequently interrupt women.Listeners recall more from male speakers than from female speakers, even when both use a similar speaking style and cover the same content.Women participate less actively in conversation. They do more smiling and gazing, and they are more often the passive by standers in professional and social conversations among peers. Women often their own statements into unsure comments. This is accomplished by using qualifiers and by adding tag question. These uncertain patterns weaken impact and signal a lack of power and influence.Only when girls are active and treated equally in the classroom will they be more likely to achieve equality in the workplace.(1)What does the authors mean when they say“Education is not a bystanders sport.”? A. Both boys and girls should do more sports. B. The girl students should be the audience towatch the boy students' discussions.C. The boy students should not be too active in the classroom discussions.D. Both boy and girl students should take an active part in the classroom discussions.(2)Which of the following is Not true?A. Girls' scores are lower than boys on SATs.B. Girls control classroom discussion in reading while boys in maths.C. Boys control classroom discussion in both reading and maths.D. Boys are more confident in calling out answers to catching the teachers' attention.(3)The factors that contribute to the students' effective learning are the following except__________.A. The students can take an active part in the classroom discussionB. The students do it themselvesC. Teachers can give students specific and direct feedback the quality of their work and answersD. Students transform their own statements into uncertain comments【答案】(1)D(2)B(3)D【解析】【分析】本文是一篇议论文,论述了教育不是旁观者的活动。

What does the author say in…?According to the passage, where / when / why / how / who…?What is the reason for…?Which of the following is (NOT) true?Which of the following is (NOT) mentioned? The writer mentioned all of the following EXCEPT…2.
What does the author think about…?What can be inferred / concluded from…?What do you think…according to the passage?According to the writer, which of the following is right?3.
What does the writer mean by saying “…”?What does the word / phrase“…”in Paragraph…mean?Which of the following can replace the word / phrase “…”in Paragraph…?From the passage we can infer that the word / phrase “…”is…4.
The title of this passage should be…Which of the following can be the title of this passage? What is the main idea of this passage? What does the writer mainly tell us in this passage?5.
What is the opinion of the writer in this passage? What is the writer’s attitude towards…?What does the writer think…?What is the purpose of the writer in this passage?
Father questioned his daughter where she was heading when he saw her
He is unable to get here today理解为“他今天到这里时残疾了”就大错特错了。
She gave me an interesting book yesterday, which is written by E.E.
I didn’t know English If I had been told about this, I wouldn’t have done such a foolish thing
He must have gone to bed, for the lights in his house are all off 中的must 只能是表示推测,说明自己一个人的看法;而在She is very rebellious. When her father tells her to do something in this way, she must do it in another way 中,must 又表示“于说话人愿望相反和不耐烦”,意思是“偏要,偏偏”。
如:no more than 意为“仅,只”,相当于only;not more than 意为“至多”,相当于at most;在“a most + adj. / adv. + n.”
