刮痧观后感英文版刮痧观后感英文版(精选11篇)刮痧观后感英文版篇11、Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. When his father visits from China, he performs Gua Sha (a Chinese traditional treatment) on his grandson, which leaves bright red marks on the skin and causes a lawsuit of child abuse. In the court, Datong loses his mind so that finally he loses custody of his son. I think this scene is shocking and thought-provoking to most of the Chinese audiences. But the most impressing scene to me is the ending. Datong wants to see his son in Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.2、Guasha is really a depressive movie. It depresses me much more than Crash. Crash talks about the racial discrimination, a serious issues, while this talks about culture shock, not so serious, maybe. However, it shocks me more. There’re a lot of conflicts in this movie, such as the criteria of abusing children, the using languages between the different generations, the ways of teaching children. Of course, the main one is Chinese traditional values and American ones. It is showed on two characters, Datong and his father.Grandpa is a Chinese traditional highbrow; he can accept the American values partly, but not to follow. At last, he chose toleave. He went back to Peking. Between two families, one is his country, another is his own family including his son with American dream, he chose the former. For an old Chinese, I think it’s a good choice. Also, Guasha is done by grandpa which is the main clue of the movie.Datong is the central character. His words, his actions, his thoughtway, all represent the Chinese traditional values. He is the typical that the director chose to exprethe theme. All conflicts are focus on him. On him, you see the Culture Shock. The line that impresses me most is ” Because he is Chinese.” After ma-ki-ng so many conflicts, the director tells us the reason of all. It hits the nail on the head. Here, the director forces you to face the reality of this society, in that melting pot, Culture Shock can be a big problem. I’m happy that the director is a Chinese, so , we can safely conclude that we Chinese are no longer as numb as Luxun described in his novels. However, what he can do is just shows us the truth, not the method to solve the problem.I’ve well understood the culture shock since I live with Yao. It confuses me why there should be such a big gap between two Chinese. Especially when that gap is totally different from those between you and me or him and her. Sometimes we just argued for some ” common sense” in Guangdong which she completely can’t accept. Different families’ settings , different regional traditions, and of course, different characters, perhaps are the reasons for this gap. However, we can do nothing with this gap but get accustomed to it.In all, I don’t like this genre of movie which uses the cruel facts to criticize the society. It’s so cruel and depressive that you almost lose the hope to our society and have no bravery to face the truth. Anyway, it makes us tough, too.刮痧观后感英文版篇2Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. However , after the movie , I realized guasha was just a symbol of the difference between Chinese culture and western culture , and there were many aspects we should have a deep consideration .At the beginning of the film , Xu Datong slaps his son Denis on his face before the crowd , because Denis hit the son of Xu’s son and Xu just want to show the respect to his boss Quinlan , that time Quinlan feels puzzled a nd says“what a Chinese logic”. Of course , an American can never know a Chinese logic of interpersonal relationship which has been prolonged more than 2000 years . Chinese can wronged their children in order to maintain friendships and leader-member relation ,whileAmerican think everyone is equal and free .In addition , they can also never understand Chinese hit their children because of loving them . In America , people pay more attention to the right of children which can be seen from the law-beating children or leave them alone is illegal , but a Chinese old proverb says “ Spare the rod , spoil the child” .Another scene which makes me deliberate is that the lawyer vilifies Sun Wukong in A Journey to the West as a symbol of barbarism and violence in the court ,then Datong is eaged and then rushes to fight the lawyer . We all can know the reason ,because Sun Wukong is a hero on behalf of justice , representing Chinese traditional values and virtues .Guasha Treatment tells us that the key to avoid the conflict of different cultures is mutual understanding and tolerance.刮痧观后感英文版篇4Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climb over the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed. It’s about assimilation into American culture, and notassimilation in an ”International” city, like SF or NY or LA or Chicago, but St. Louis, MO(actually shot there).Really great acting, interesting story.Gua Sha is a treatment in traditional oriental medicine in which a wooden board repeatedly slides across the patient’s acupuncture acupressure massage points. It works in similar principles like that of acupuncture acupressure massage. This method would inevitably leave bruise on the skin, and the story begins here, when the visiting grandpa who does not speak any English used this traditional practice to treat the grandson when both son and daughter-in-law were at work.Sadly, in US, this is a story that repeats itself many times in the area where many oriental immigrants lives and all of these are due to simple misunderstanding between cultures.Gua Sha: Step-by-Step, by Arya Nielsen. If an acupuncturist is trained in Classical Chinese medicine, they will do this technique in their practice for pain, and for acute or chronic illness.刮痧观后感英文版篇5Chinese immigrants struggle to hold onto their American dream after the husband's father(Xu Zhu)comes for a visit from mainland China and gives a si-mp-le Chinese Medicine therapy called Gua Sha to his grandson.Da Tong(Tony Leung Ka Fai)is the father who is trying to integrate his Chinese cultural beliefs into his daily American reality, especially when dealing with his bo(Hollis Huston)and best friend, who is too quick to believe the worst about Da Tong's treatment of his son, Dennis. Da Tong's failures show his confusion about the differences between his original Chinese culture and his new American home. Even within his family there is conflict because Grandfather can't speak English and isexcluded from many conversations because Mother(Wenli Jiang)wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son. Da T ong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for succein America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent. They even go so far as to insist the boy use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, even when it's obvious they are still eating Chinese style food, served in the normal way: communal dishes for the food and smaller, individual rice bowls for each person. Mother seems a bit inflexible in her insistence on being as American as possible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice.Da Tong's love for his son is tested severely when Da Tong tries to balance it against respect for his boss. When Da Tong's son hits his boss' son, Da Tong insists on an apology that seems unnecessary and makes Da Tong look stubborn and uncaring. Da Tong gives his boy a light rap on the head when he refuses to apologize and the boy cries to his mother that the reason he hit his playmate was that the other boy called Da Tong stupid, one of many examples of doing the wrong thing to protect your family. The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of love or respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism.Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King, Sun Wu Kong, that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loof his son. Da Tong is misunderstood byeveryone, family, friend, and foe, even though he has only the best intentions, and he carries the responsibility quite heavily, ma-ki-ng one wrong turn after another.Gua Sha (Motivational model yuedu.shows how a person's cultural beliefs are so deeply set within oneself that it is usually impossible to examine why you do most anything, from how you dreand talk to whom you love and respect and how you show it. The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. Da Tong experiences an excruciatingly painful and difficult struggle while trying to protect his son, an ordeal that forces him to examine the validity of some of the most vital things he thought he knew about his identity, his Chinese culture, and the new American world he'd chosen as his home. The movie showed me how normal it is for people to look for ways that their culture is superior to others' and how the misunderstandings arising from different cultural perspectives can seem very large, but can be nullified with si-mp-le, 2-sided explanations when people are willing to listen. It appears this film is not readily available in the USA, but it's the best I've seen at highlighting the differences between American and Chinese culture. Parts of the movie's dialog are only in Chinese and I've yet to find a DVD with English subtitles, although it's easy to get the gist of what's going on during those short passages. The credits are a combination of Chinese and English, holding true to the integration of both worlds. I've noticed some important roles are not credited here on IMDb, such as Judge Horowitz, who was played by Alexander Barton. 刮痧观后感英文版篇6“Scrape” is indeed a good film for us to see. When I wasseeing the film, I was touched by its wonderful plot. The film narrates that the main character named Xu Datong came to America 8 years ago and he realized his American Dream. He has a successful career and a happy family, everything is going well. But one day, he was told that his son was maltreated by himself. The truth is that his son Denis has a fever and a stomachache, but his g randfather can’t understand the English instructions on the medicine bottle. Therefore, he uses the traditional Chinese medicine therapy “Guasha” to cure his grandson, which becomes the evidence of the father’s abuse to his son. And the traditional Chinese therapy “Guasha” seems to be the tool that is used to maltreat children in the eyes of foreigners. In China, scrape is a very normal thing for people to accept, and why it becomes so complicated and difficult for foreigners to acknowledge the traditional Chinese therapy. Facing with the new explanation of traditional Chinese culture and moral standard by prosecution lawyer, Xu Datong loses his mind and is hard to calm down. The judge announces to exploit his right of guardianship over his son. And he is not allowed to meet his son and he is very angry at the time of the scene. When the defense lawyer of the opposite talks about the role named “Monkey King”, we can see that many foreigners are unfamiliar with the Chinese culture.Analyzing from the aspect of Chinese and Western’s thoughts, thewestern countries are controlling the world with their strong economic and military strength, and they try to centralize unify the western model of the civilized world. Therefore, they start to smear and debase other civilization pattern. The western society is never research extensive and profound Chinese cultureseriously and they don’t know more about the Chinese culture. As a result, foreigners are unable to understand “Guasha” in the movie. As we all know, thoughts of western people are more open than us, but they can’t accept the thing without any scientific proof. In the aspect of education, when the Chinese parents deal with the fight between two children, they will educate their own child firstly, while the western parents will respect the truth. So Xu Datong’s action to educate his son is seen as violence even abuse. The traditional Chinese notion is that parents give birth to their child and they have the right to educate them well, other people are with no right to interfere. However, parents are just legal guardian to their children in America, and they have no right to scold their kids and to say nothing of fight their children. Therefore, the Chinese notion of education is rather different from the western notion of education,Legally, America is a legal system country, law exists in the every corner and every dispute can be solved by the way of law. They emphasize on the truth and evidence. Finally, Xu Datong was announcedto leave his son, according to law, the court’s adjudication is right. But many Chinese people are unable to accept it, which we can see the difference between China and America. We have to acknowledge that American people emphasize personal rights; they use law and social institutions to li mit people’s action, especially to the protection of juveniles. They think everyone is equal and has their own rights. We can learn something good from American law.In conclusion, cross-cultural communication may have some conflicts. In order to reach the agreement, we should learn torespect other different cultural customs in the process of cultural communicating. We need to have tolerant attitude, and eliminate national prejudice and adhere to the principle of equal culture. 刮痧观后感英文版篇7Impressions of the film Gua ShaSome time ago, I watched a movie called Guasha. Of course, the main one is Chinese traditional values and American ones. His words, his actions, his thoughtway, all represent the Chinese traditional values. His wife are very well educated and wants only Engllish spoken in her home. As an old Chinese, Grandpa can accept the American values partly, but not to follow.Undoubtely, Iam feeling a lot from that movie. The most important is the Culture Shock.刮痧观后感英文版篇8The Differences between Chinese and Western Cultures----From the movie “Gua Sha”1 IntroductionGua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. The story takes place in St. Louis. Xu Datong has been to the United States for eight years. He is a successful game-designer with a happy family. One day, his son Dennis is sick. The grandpa uses the Chinese traditional therapy namedGua Sha to help him which leaves bright red marks on the skin. And then, Dennis is left at home alone and he has an accident. He is sent to the hospital so the doctor sees the scar on his back. The doctor doubts if the child is abused at home. In the court, every witness and testimony make Datong lose the custody of his son. Then, it makes Datong break up families and he loses his friends and job. Finally, Datong climbs up the pipe to the ninth floor which his family live to see his son on Christmas Eve. At the same time, his friend John tells them that he can live with his family and the court has learned Gua Sha.The film reflects many differences between American and Chinese cultures, including the legal system, ethical standards, the traditional Chinese medicine theory and many other issues.2 The Differences between Chinese and Western Cultures2.1 The difference in the legal systemIn America, parents shouldn’t leave their child alone and can’t abuse the child. If they break the law, they may be take n to the police station. What’s more, their children will be separated from them. Children are protected by laws. In the film, the family gets in this trouble. But the rule doesn’t work in China. In China, parents have the right to beat them when children don’t obey their words. From the movie, Datong slaps Dennis because he wants Dennis to apologize to Paul but Dennis refuses. Paul’s father can’t understand him at all. However, Datong says that it is to show his respect to him and give him face. Chinese think that the child is their private property. He is my son so he is mine. I can beat him because he does not obey my words. But in America, every one is equal, including parents and children. In American’s eyes, it is illegal to beat someone. Parents seldom decidesomething for their children. They want their children to fight for themselves.12.2 The difference in ethical standardsChinese pay more attention to the whole and we think that everyone should devote himself to the family. In traditional Chinese culture, filial piety is one of the most important things. In the film, we can see that Datong admits that he does Gua Sha to his son. He doesn’t want his father to worry about Dennis so he tells his father nothing. He takes Dennis out of the welfare centre to meet with his father who will go back to Chinese. However, American values themselves. They are educated with independent spirit. They do not have strong feelings with their family. There are also many differences in the views on friendship. Stewad and Bennet discuss American friends: "Although Americans keep many friendly and unofficial ties, but they rarely make those deep. At the same time, when People choose friends, they also make it separate from others." However, it is different in China. We want to have several close friends. And as a friend of mine, you should help me to do many things without a return. When Datong’s boss in the court admits that Datong has beaten his son, Datong thinks he is my friend but he betrays me. And the boss believes that he just says the truth. Integrity is an important virtue in America. American won’t tell a lie even though he is your friend.2.3 The difference in the views on the traditional Chinese medicine theoryWe can see it from the origin of different cultures. The philosophy of China and America are different. The westernpeople prefer rationalism while the Chinese like exploring the relationship between the nature and human. In the court, Datong tells them what Gua Sha is. But nobody can understand him. Even his lawyer finds it too difficult to understand.3 ConclusionThe film reflects many differences between American and Chinese cultures. At the same time, it also expresses cultural assimilation. In the movie, the American man Queensland searches for a clinic to try Gua Sha. We can see that American is willing to learn Chinese cultures. The film has a happy ending, but it also ignores some cultural differences. I hope one day we might not be damaged by cultural differences and the world would be a “datong” world.刮痧观后感英文版篇9Charlie from the "Rain Man" brings out the hospital until the beginning of "Rain Man" returned to the hospital is the film's central narrative paragraphs, occupy the entire film is 2 / 3 over. This progreis the procemore like road-mode, and this car is a big important paragraph of the props and bearing. The film also made a conscious decision to use other modes of transport instead of cars to complete the film "family" theme of the portrait. When Charlie prepared with "Rain Man" on the airplane, "Rain Man" showed extreme panic and anxiety, and enumerated in the previous periods crash. In no way Charlie circumstances had promised to "Rain Man" take automotive requirements. At this point, and directing were reached to extend the use of narrative time and space vehicles, and create a relatively broad narrative environment. The whole car is the bearing of the incident, the theme is the cornerstone of good play. In the two-person trip to the middle ofa "Rain Man" suddenly reminded of his underpants, he was required to return to the Charlie designated places to buy designated underpants. This has been a strange burn up his brother Charles at this time the dilemma. Abnormal helplehe angrily left the car, walked alone one person complained loudly, when he can look back again, my brother has not the car, but to sell his underpants that direction going. At that moment, the car empty, represented the brothers emotion and the way of thinking on the alienation and difficult to communicate, so俩人have left their places of spiritual exchange - automotive, suddenly created a separation empty art results. When Charlie and later, "Rain Man" won large amounts of money in the casino after playing and traveling together when Suzanne, the atmosphere is warm, because the narrow space in this car represents the soul of communication between the brothers, let them at the same time bathed in golden sunlight, the spring water fountain also like the ease of mind and a cheerful background music and exciting dance issued轻捷crisper, and drop people droplets sound. In these two areas, car apparently served as a "family" of communication sites, was a sharp contrast, and the plot laid a foundation for further development.Apart from the car, also used in the film, such as the telephone, television, such as the product of modern science and technology to social reality of the state of some of the hidden side of refraction, and have a certain amount of social satire role. However, the greatest irony in the film, or for "Rain Man" Charlie irony."Rain Man" is suffering from "autism" a claof people is excluded from the normal world outside. The film "Rain Man" Raymund is typical. He has done things always behave properlyall the things I asked Chen unchanged. He and others fear that exchanges and contacts, everything in the world is limited to the plane, dogmatic understanding of their behavior is the "otherness" in total disregard of the environment and the changes only according to its own subjective sense of action . And past performance of "non-normal" film, the film "Rain Man" Apart from congenital disability, but also has some "normal people" do not have some talent. In the movie, the director repeatedly demonstrated his interest and the unique digital extraordinary memory capacity, and intensified this individual acts, the leading clues, the entire narrative become an important motive exists. The film also uses its own characteristics that created a special effects comedy and drama tension. From a certain perspective, "Rain Man" films of this role is the focus of the entire drama. Tablets comedy links, the motives for contradictions in his possession were to be embodied. If Charles and Suzanne se-x, the unknown rational Raymund enter their room, and Suzanne and together up. This in his personal unconscious, without creating a logical act of endlejokes in the film. More importantly, his behavior aroused the discontent Charlie, but also for the further development of narrative and character level two opposing laid the foundation for mutual dissolution.刮痧观后感英文版篇10Last week, I’ve watch the film named GUA SHA. Actually, GUA SHA has another professional form as skin scraping. But I think it was not correctly enough. GUA SHA is a traditional medical treatment. The main function is to accelerate blood circulation. It has a good effect on hypertension, heatstroke and so on. Once upon a time, our ancestors had told us generationby generation. We all believed its influence. The story of this film happened in America. The hero, Datong Xu, an Chinese people made a great succeand realized his American dream. He said, he loved America and America is an place filled with opportunities in a victory meeting. But an unfortunate thing came to him. One day, his five-year-old child called Denis got a f ever. The grandpa can’t understand the English introductions on the drugs. So he did GUA SHA for Denis. Unexpectedly it became the evidence for child abuse. Datong Xu was accused of child abuse. On the court, one after another witnetestified his bad behavi or to his child. He can’t explain clearly about GUA SHA. In the face of so many distorted allegations, he became crazy. Meantime, he was deprived of Denis’s custody. He was forbidden to meet Denis. His father decided to return to China. Everything changed. He lost his harmonious family, his trust friends, his perfect job. He lost everything. He was forced to live in the slum. In the slum, the couple hugged and cried together. At Christmas, he missed his son very much. Then he pretended as Santa Claus to see his son secretly. The guide didn’t let him in. He climbed the water tube. At that time, police came. He can see Denis. He succeeded at last. The film reflects the cultural shock in foreign country. Finally the hero overcame the obstacles through his endeavor. It deeply impressed me that the difficulty we must face in the foreign country, because of the distinguished culture. Only more munication we make, leproblems it may appears. It is a long way for us to go. We should put it in mind.刮痧观后感英文版篇11Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between Americanand Chinese culture. Xu datong is a video games designer in St. Louis. 《刮痧》观后感(英汉对照版)1100字《刮痧》观后感(Gua Sha)As a viewer, I recently watched the powerful andthought-provoking documentary “Gua Sha” and feel moved to share my thoughts and reflections on this film.

After watching the movie "Gua Sha," I was struck by the powerful message it conveyed about traditional Chinese medicine and the healing power of human connection. The film follows the story of a young woman named Lin who is struggling with chronic pain and emotional trauma. Desperate for relief, she turns to a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner who practices Gua Sha, a form of therapy that involves scraping the skin to promote blood flow and healing. At first skeptical, Lin gradually begins to experience the benefits of this ancient practice and finds solace in the compassionate care of her therapist. What struck me most about the film was the way it portrayed the importance of human connection in the healing process. Through the gentle touch of her therapist and the emotional support of her fellow patients, Lin is able to confront her pain and begin the journey towards healing. The film beautifully captures the transformative power of empathy and understanding, reminding us that true healing often comes from connecting with others on a deep and emotional level.Overall, "Gua Sha" is a poignant and thought-provoking film that highlights the ways in which traditional healing practices can provide both physical and emotional relief. It serves as a reminder of the importance of seeking out alternative forms of therapy and the power of human connection in overcoming pain and suffering.。

Really great acting, interesting storyGua Sha is a treatment in traditional oriental medicine in which a wooden board repeatedly slides across the patient's acupuncture acupressure massage points. It works in similar principles like that of acupuncture acupressure massage. This method would inevitably leave bruise on the skin, and the storybegins here, when the visiting grandpa who does not speak any English used this traditional practice to treat the grandson when both son and daughter-in-law were at work.Sadly, in US, this is a story that repeats itself many times in the area where many oriental immigrants lives and all of these are due to simple misunderstanding between cultures.Gua Sha: Step-by-Step, by Arya Nielsen. If an acupuncturist is trained in Classical Chinese medicine, they will do this technique in their practice for pain, and for acute or chronic illness.电影刮痧英文观后感500Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. Datong wants to see his sonin Christmas eve, he has to climb a pipe to the ninth floor which his son lives. I think the pipe is not only a pipe, but also a gap, a deep gap between American and 5000-year Chinese culture. He wants to climbover the gap and he will never succeed, perhaps no Chinese people really could succeed.电影刮痧英文观后感500Gua Sha is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. 刮痧英文观后感
刮痧英文观后感刮痧英文观后感《刮痧》观后感英文【一】When I first saw this film’s name ,I considered it as a movie that told us something about Chinese traditional therapy treatment. However , after the movie , I realized guasha was just a symbol of the difference between Chinese culture and western culture , and there were many aspects we should have a deep consideration .At the beginning of the film , Xu Datong slaps his son Denis on his face before the cro wd , because Denis hit the son of Xu’s son and Xu just want to show the respect to his boss Quinlan , that time Quinlan feels puzzled and says“what a Chinese logic”. Of course , an American can never know a Chinese logic of interpersonal relationship which has been prolonged more than 2000 years . Chinese can wronged their children in order to maintain friendships and leader-member relation ,while American think everyone is equal and free .In addition , they can also never understand Chinese hit their children because of loving them . In America , people pay more attention to the right of children which can be seen from the law-beating children or leave them alone is illegal , but a Chinese old proverb says “ Spare the rod , spoil the child” .Another scene which makes me deliberate is that the lawyer vilifies Sun Wukong in A Journey to the West as a symbol of barbarism and violence in the court ,then Datong is enraged and then rushes to fight the lawyer . We all can know the reason ,because Sun Wukong is a hero on behalf of justice , representing Chinese traditional values and virtues .Guasha Treatment tells us that the key to avoid the conflict of different cultures is mutual understanding and tolerance.Great Culture difference between China and America【二】After I saw the film Guasha, I was astonished by the great different culture between China and America. In fact, we should find many interesting things in the conflict of these two nations. In Xu Datong’s family, his son Dennis is totally accepted the American culture. Datong and his wife know American rules and their way of thinking, but the still keep many Chinese habitats and Chinese thoughts. Datong’s father, however, is totally a Chinese. He didn’t know American rules at all even he is profound in China. We can see that after Dennis fight with the son of Datong’s boss, Datong hit Dennis. It’s totally a Chinese’s way. American don’t hit their child or they think it’s a kind of mistreat. Obviously, this action became one the proof that Datong mistreated Dennis when they were in the court. John acknowledged that Datong used to hit Dennis. He told truth but Datong was crazy about John “betrayed” him. Here is another aspect. In Chinese’s mind, friends should always help him even tell lie for him, while Americans distinct friendship and justice clearly. They wouldn’t tell lie in the court. After Datong lost, he vented his angry on John and want to resign for his self-respect. Because Chinese always treat “face” very important. Next the most interesting conflict appeared, Datong and John argued about why he hit Dennis. Datong said that he hit Dennis to show his respect to John, to save his face. John confused and cried what kind of twisted Chinese logic! Maybe it’s the most different thing between Chinese and American which Americans would never realize.Another point is in the court, Datong called John to be his lawyer. John thought it’s not comfortable because he is an interlecture property lawyer. He suggested Datong to find a qualified one. But Datong said John is his best friend and best lawyer, he should know how Datong love his son and John should surely help him. Here is one point. When somebody in the trouble, Chinese always find friends first whether he is professional or not. Friends would certainly he lp him. But Americans think that it’s better to find a stranger who can truly help him, rather than a good friend but can’t help him. Another point is after John told Datong he was not a family lawyer, but an interlecture property lawyer, Datong said that Dennis was his best creation, so it’s in John’s field. Actually, many Chinese hold the thought that child is parents’ property. They created their children and give birth to their children, so they can do everything to him, even hit them. However, Americans do not think so. From their perspective, children are equal to adults. They are not parents’ property. So they would never say the same thing as Datong. There are countless aspects show the difference between Chinese and American, such as logic, habitat, the way of thinking and act. We can see a lot of typical examples in Guasha. As a English major, I should learn more about intercultural communication between Chinese and American. Acceptance of their logic is a important way to learn English.。

刮痧英文观后感“Scrape” is indeed a good film for us to see. When I was seeing the film, I was touched by its wonderful plot. The film narrates that the main character named Xu Datong came to America 8 years ago and he realized his American Dream. He has a successful career and a happy family, everything is going well. But one day, he was told that his son was maltreated by himself. The truth is that his son Denis has a fever and a stomachache, but his grandfather can’t understand the English instructions on the medicine bottle. The western society is never research extensive and profound Chinese culture seriously and they don’t know more about the Chinese culture. As a result, foreigners are unable to understand “Guasha” in the movie. As we all know, thoughts of western people are more open than us, but they can’t accept the thing without any scientific proof. In the aspect of education, when the Chinese parents deal with the fightbetween two children, they will educate their own child firstly, while the western parents will respect the truth. We have to acknowledge that American people emphasize personal rights; they use law and social institutions to limit people’s action, especially to the protection of juveniles. They think everyone is equal and has their own rights. We can learn something good from American law.In conclusion, cross-cultural communication may have some conflicts. In order to reach the agreement, we should learn to respect other different cultural customs in the process of cultural communicating. We need to have tolerant attitude, and eliminate national prejudice and adhere to the principle of equal culture.第二篇:电影刮痧英文读后感800字Impressions of the film Gua ShaSome time ago, I watched a movie called Guasha. It is a movie about the differences between American and Chinese culture. There’re a lot of conflicts in this movie, such as the criteria of abusing children, the using languages between the different generations, the ways of teaching children. Of course, the main one is Chinese traditional values and American ones. It is showed on three characters, Datong, his wife and Grandpa.Datong is the central character that the director chose to express the theme. Hiswords, his actions, his thoughtway, all represent the Chinese traditional values. His wife are very well educated and wants only Engllish spoken in her home. As an old Chinese, Grandpa can accept the American values partly, but not to follow.Undoubtely, Iam feeling a lot from that movie. The most important is the Culture Shock.。
刮痧电影观后感英文版
刮痧电影观后感英文版"Gua Sha" Movie Review"Gua Sha" is a film that offers a profound exploration of cultural misunderstandings and the power of family bonds The story unfolds against the backdrop of a modern society where traditional Chinese practices collide with Western medical and legal systemsThe movie begins with Xu Datong, a Chinese immigrant living in the United States with his family One day, his son has a fever and he uses the traditional Chinese method of gua sha to treat him However, this leads to a series of misunderstandings and complications when the child is seen with marks on his body by the authoritiesThe character of Xu Datong is complex and relatable He is a hardworking individual who is trying to make a successful life for his family in a foreign land His determination to provide a better future for his wife and child is evident, but he also faces the challenges of maintaining his cultural roots while adapting to a new environment The conflict he experiences when his cultural practices are misunderstood and judged by the Western system is heartwrenchingThe relationship between Xu Datong and his father is another significant aspect of the movie The gua sha technique is not just a medical treatment but a symbol of the connection between generations and the passing down of traditional wisdom When this tradition is questioned and condemned, it notonly affects Xu Datong but also represents a break in the continuity of cultural heritageThe film also highlights the importance of family in times of crisis Xu Datong's wife, Jian Ning, stands by him through thick and thin, demonstrating the strength of their marital bond Their joint efforts to overcome the difficulties and fight for justice for their family showcase the power of love and unityThe cultural gap depicted in the movie is eyeopening It makes us realize how different cultural values and beliefs can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts The Western view of medicine, which is based on scientific evidence and clinical trials, clashes with the traditional Chinese approach that relies on centuriesold practices and holistic understanding of the body This contrast raises questions about the universality of medical knowledge and the need for cultural sensitivity in a globalized worldThe performances of the actors in "Gua Sha" are commendable They bring the characters to life with authenticity and emotion, making the audience empathize with their struggles and joys The direction and cinematography also contribute to the overall impact of the film, creating a visually engaging and emotionally charged narrativeIn conclusion, "Gua Sha" is not just a movie; it is a thoughtprovoking exploration of cultural differences, family values, and the human spirit's resilience in the face of adversity It serves as a reminder that understanding and respecting different cultures is crucial for building a harmonious and inclusive world This film has left a lasting impression on me and has mademe more aware of the importance of cultural exchange and mutual understanding。
《刮痧》观后感 英文1600字
《刮痧》观后感英文1600字As a viewer, I had the pleasure of watching the Chinese film "Guasha" or "Scraping" directed by Xu Zhanxiong. This film tells the story of a father and son who own a guasha clinic but struggle to keep it running due to financial difficulties and their estranged relationship. The father passes on his guasha skills to a young apprentice, who also becomes a vital character in the film. The film’s structure is simple but effective. It begins with a brief introduction of the characters and their daily lives, then the story continues to explore their circumstances and delves deeper into their relationships with one another. The climax of the story comes when the father is diagnosed with a serious illness. This event forces the father and son to confront their past and present issues as they attempt to salvage their relationship and the guasha clinic.I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of emotion and depth in each of the characters. As their stories unfolded, I found myself empathizing with each of them and was invested in their journeys. The film perfectly captured the complexities of family relationships and the importance of communication and understanding. The film also employs strong visual elements such as the beautiful scenery of rural China, the use of natural light, andwell-choreographed guasha scenes that are accompanied by soothing music. Every frame of the film is aesthetically pleasing, and it adds to the overall message of the film - the beauty of traditional Chinese healing practices and their importance in modern medicine. One of the most memorable moments of the movie was when the father said, "Guasha can cure more than just a cold or a fever." This resonated with me, and I felt that the film provided an opportunity to showcase the benefits of traditional medicine that are often overlooked. As I reflected on the film, I thought about my own relationship with my family and how a lack of communication and understanding can cause misunderstandings and rifts. It reminded me of the importance of taking the time to listen and communicate with each other. In conclusion, "Guasha" is a beautifully crafted film that captures the essence of traditional Chinese medicine, family relationships, and human connections. The excellent characters and music, coupled with the picturesque scenery, create an unforgettable cinematic experience. The film provides a reminder of the importance of preserving traditional practices in the rapidly changing world of modern medicine.。

刮痧优秀观后感英文版第一篇:刮痧影评英文版Last year, when I have the public elective curse,ur teacher intrduces a film t us which is his favrite ne--GuaSha.At that time,I was just angry at freigner’s ignrance and deeply mved fr Datng’s lve fr his sn.At this time,I watch this film again frm different pint f view--the intercultural cmmunicatin.Cultural differences are the mst imprtant pint in the intercultural cmmunicatin. At the beginning f this film,Datng with his family is attending his wn victry banquet, his sn Dennis hits his friend Paul,Paul’s parents think that’s k,it’s just a fight between tw kids.Hwever,Datng and his wife Jenny have different reactins twards that situatin.Jenny is a wman wh is deeply affec ted by western thughts, she desn’t blame his sn.At first,Datng asks his sn t aplgize t his friend Paul, but Dennis refuses t d that.S Datng is very angry because he thinks that he makes his friend lses his face.Hence,Datng strikes Dennis in his face.Everyne including his wife are shcked. The western parents regard it as family vilence, while Datng as a traditinal Chinese parent thinks that beating is a sign f affectin and cursing is a sign f lve. What he has dne is t teach his sn t shwrespect t ther peple.Frm there,we can see the cultural differences between western parents and Chinese parents in treating their children.Frm my perspective,I think Datng is a cntradictin. He grws upin China, but immigrates t western cuntry later.S Datng is familiar with Chinese culture, meanwhile he is affected by western culture. He usually treats his sn by traditinal Chinese ways, but smetime he treats his sn like a freigner parent.Fr example,he can share secrets with his sn and respect his pinins.S,that is why I say Datng is a cntradictin. The highlight f this film is abut the debate n the hearing andthat is the mst bvius part f cultural differences in the intercultural cmmunicatin. The defense lawyer f Child Welfare Agency has the evidence t charge him f abusing his sn,they find a nurse wh is respnsible fr Jenny’s parturitin. She says that Datng chse t save his wife nt the child when Jenny is in danger during parturitin, and he even desn’t give the child chance t live.hwever,Datng hlds different pinin abut that.He argues that if his wife live, they can always have mre kids, just as a Chinese famus saying ges where there's life there's hpe.S we canknw the different cncept between Chinese peple and freigners. In this film, there are tw big misunderstandings abut Chinese culture. One is abut Jurney t the West and anther ne is abut Guasha. The defense lawyer says that Sun Wukng is representative f vilence, while the truth is Sun Wukng is a gd and hnest her and represents ur traditinal values and ethics.Anther misunderstanding isabut Guasha.Guasha is a traditinal Chinese medicine cure withut medical evidence.Hwever s it has becme the direct evidence f abusing child. The cnflicts in this film is the cnflicts between tw ttally different cultures. And it deserves us t pnder ver.Frm this film,we shuld knw that if we want t get knwledge f intercultural cmmunicatin, the first step is t understand cultural differences.第二篇:刮痧影评英文版Actually,in the beginning ,I d nt reckn GuaSha wrth a leads t the separatin between DaTng and his wife as well as his family. The plt then is expanded frm this wrd…Sectin2:There are s many differences in tw cultures reflected in this mvie.Firstly, the way peple think r treat abut sme rituals.Fr example ,during the party,DaTng insists that he hits his sn ut f the respect fr Jhn,while Jhn cnsiders it a rude behaviur twards Danis. And t sme extent,DaTng breaches the law.Secndly, frm the way they have dinner ,we can see their living styles are different frmurs. They use frks and knives ,but we use chpsticks. Then,in western cuntries, everything is judged itis his father wh des GuaSha treatment t Danis. But DaTng just keeps silent.Chinese emphasize filial affectin twards the senir. In cntrast ,westerners just want t seek the truth. At last, the cgnitin f genuine medical treatment is f difference.Traditinal Chinese medical treatment is assumed t be fake treatment in western cuntries.(Here are sme extracts frm the mvie:1.It’s nt a right thing t hit a cultures is just the apprpriate way fr cultures t assimilate int each ther.。
电影刮痧观后感的英语
As a seasoned film critic,I recently had the opportunity to watch Gua Sha,a film that has stirred a myriad of emotions within me.This poignant drama, directed by Zhang Yang,is a testament to the cultural differences and the complexities of family dynamics that can arise when these differences clash. The story revolves around the life of a Chinese father, played by Pu Cunxin, who moves to Canada with his son after the death of his wife. The cultural shock and the struggle to adapt to a new environment are palpable, and the film does an excellent job of portraying these challenges. However,it is the incident of Gua Sha,a traditional Chinese therapy involving scraping the skin to alleviate pain and promote healing, that becomes the central conflict of the movie. The fathers use of Gua Sha on his son to treat a cold leads to a misunderstanding with the local authorities, who suspect child abuse. This misunderstanding is not just a cultural one,but also a stark reflection of the prejudices and stereotypes that can exist in society. The film masterfully handles this delicate subject, showcasing the fathers desperation and the cultural gap that leads to such a grave misinterpretation. One of the most striking aspects of Gua Sha is its portrayal of the fatherson relationship. The bond between Pu Cunxins character and his son is heartwarming and genuine.Their shared moments of laughter, the silent understanding, and the mutual support they provide each other are beautifully captured. The film also delves into the sons struggle toreconcile his Chinese heritage with his new Canadian identity,a theme that resonates with many immigrants around the world. The cinematography of Gua Sha is another element that deserves mention. The film uses a muted color palette that reflects the somber mood and the cultural alienation experienced by the characters. The shots are intimate, drawing the viewer into the emotional journey of the characters. The use of closeups during intense scenes adds to the emotional depth of the film. The performances in Gua Sha are nothing short of exceptional.Pu Cunxin delivers a powerful and nuanced portrayal of a father torn between his love for his son and the cultural misunderstandings that threaten to tear them apart. The supporting cast, including the actors playing the social workers and the sons friends, also contribute to the authenticity of the film. However,Gua Sha is not without its flaws. The pacing of the film can feel slow at times, and some viewers might find it challenging to remain engaged throughout.Additionally, the film could have delved deeper into the cultural aspects of Gua Sha,providing more context and explanation for those unfamiliar with the practice.Despite these minor shortcomings,Gua Sha is a compelling film that offers a thoughtprovoking exploration of cultural differences, family bonds, and the challenges of adapting to a new environment. It is a film that resonates with the universal themes of love, understanding, and the importance of communication across cultural boundaries. In conclusion,Gua Sha is a poignant and emotionally charged film that effectively highlights the cultural misunderstandings and the strength of familial bonds. It is a film that stays with you long after the credits roll, prompting reflection on the importance of cultural sensitivity and empathy in our increasingly globalized world. For anyone interested in a film that delves into the complexities of cultural differences and the power of family, Gua Sha is a mustwatch.。

篇一:刮痧英语观后感Chinese immigrants struggle to hold onto their American dream after the husband's father (Xu Zhu) comes for a visit from mainland China and gives a si-mp-le Chinese Medicine therapy called Gua Sha to his grandson.Da Tong (Tony Leung Ka Fai) is the father who is trying to integrate his Chinese cultural beliefs into his daily American reality, especially when dealing with his bo(Hollis Huston) and best friend, who is too quick to believe the worst about Da Tong's treatment of his son, Dennis. Da Tong's failures show his confusion about the differences between his original Chinese culture and his new American home. Even within his family there is conflict because Grandfather can't speak English and is excluded from many conversations because Mother (Wenli Jiang) wants only English spoken in her home for the benefit of her American born son. Da Tong and his wife are very well educated and understand that their child's best chances for succein America, and for him not to experience the same troubles they've had during the past 8 years, are to speak without an accent. They even go so far as to insist the boy use a fork and knife instead of chopsticks, even when it's obvious they are still eating Chinese style food, served in the normal way: communal dishes for the food and smaller, individual rice bowls for each person. Mother seems a bit inflexible in her insistence on being as American aspossible, while Da Tong's cultural leanings are just as strongly Chinese, although not by conscious choice.Da Tong's love for his son is tested severely when Da Tong tries to balance it against respect for his boss. The conflict arising from doing the wrong thing out of love or respect for one's family or closest friends continues throughout the movie, and every way Da Tong turns, he finds failure and encounters both obvious and subtle forms of anti-Chinese racism. Even Chinese folklore about the Monkey King, Sun Wu Kong, that Da Tong incorporates into a video game he designed is used to provoke his pride when he's vulnerable and fearing for the loof his son. Da Tong is misunderstood by everyone, family, friend, and foe, even though he has only the best intentions, and he carries the responsibility quite heavily, ma-ki-ng one wrong turn after another.Gua Sha (The Treatment) shows how a person's cultural beliefs are so deeply set within oneself that it is usually impossible to examine why you do most anything, from how you dreand talk to whom you love and respect and how you show it. The invisible nature of one's cultural beliefs also makes it difficult to impossible to explain yourself to others when questioned. Da Tong experiences an excruciatingly painful and difficult struggle while trying to protect his son, an ordeal that forces him toexamine the validity of some of the most vital things he thought he knew about his identity, his Chinese culture, and the new American world he'd chosen as his home. I've noticed some important roles are not credited here on IMDb, such as Judge Horowitz, who was played by Alexander Barton。
刮痧优秀观后感英文版
刮痧优秀观后感英文版第一篇:刮痧影评英文版Last year, when I have the public elective course, our teacher introduces a film to us which is his favorite one--GuaSha.At that time,I was just angry at foreigner’s ignorance and deeply moved for Datong’s love for his son.At this time,I watch this film again from different point of view--the intercultural communication.Cultural differences are the most important point in the intercultural communication. At the beginning of this film,Datong with his family is attending his own victory b anquet, his son Dennis hits his friend Paul,Paul’s parents think that’s ok,it’s just a fight between two kids. However,Datong and his wife Jenny have different reactions towards that situation.Jenny is a woman who is deeply affected by western thoughts, she d oesn’t blame his son.At first,Datong asks his son to apologize to his friend Paul, but Dennis refuses to do that.So Datong is very angry because he thinks that he makes his friend loses his face.Hence,Datong strikes Dennis in his face.Everyoneincluding his wife are shocked. The western parents regard it as family violence, while Datong as a traditional Chinese parent thinks that beating is a sign of affection and cursing is a sign of love. What he has done is to teach his son to show respect to other people. From there,we can see the cultural differences between western parents and Chinese parents in treating their children. From my perspective,I think Datong is a contradiction. He grows upin China, but immigrates to western country later. So Datong is familiar with Chinese culture, meanwhile he is affected by western culture. He usually treats his son by traditional Chinese ways, but sometime he treats his son like a foreigner parent. For example,he can share secrets with his son and respect his opinions. So,that is why I say Datong is a contradiction. The highlight of this film is about the debate on the hearing andthat is the most obvious part of cultural differences in the intercultural communication. The defense lawyer ofChild Welfare Agency has the evidence to charge him of abusing his son, they find a nurse who is responsible for Jenny’s parturition. She says that Datong choose to save his wife not the child when Jenny is in danger during parturition, and he even doesn’t give the child chance to live.however,Datong holds different opinion about that.He argues that if his wife live, they can always have more kids, just as a Chinese famous saying goes where there’s life there’s hope.So we can know the different concept between Chinese people and foreigners. In this film, there are two big misunderstandings about Chinese culture. One is about Journey to the West and another one is about Guasha. The defense lawyer says that Sun Wukong is representative of violence, while the truth is Sun Wukong is a good and honest hero and represents our traditional values and ethics.Another misunderstanding isabout Guasha.Guasha is a traditional Chinese medicine cure without medical evidence. However s it has become the direct evidence of abusing child. The conflicts in this film is the conflicts between two totally differentcultures. And it deserves us to ponder over. From this film,we should know that if we want to get knowledge of intercultural communication, the first step is to understand cultural differences.第二篇:刮痧影评英文版Actually, in the beginning ,I do not reckon GuaSha worth a written comment just according to the literal meaning I’ve got. But my views on this movie have been dramatically changed after I finishing it. In this passage,I will organize my comments in three parts:1. the summary of this movie.2. the differences between Chinese and English culture reflected in this movie.3. Conclusion.Section1: GuaSha shapes a vivid image of a man whose name is DaTongxu. He is a man with a beautiful and virtuous wife .What’s more ,he has a hap py family. However, everything has changed since an unexpected lawsuit came to him which is triggered by the Chinese traditional medical treatment---GuaSha, which leads to the separation betweenDaTong and his wife as well as his family. The plot then is e xpanded from this word…Section2: There are so many differences in two cultures reflected in this movie. Firstly, the way people think or treat about some rituals. For example ,during the party, DaTong insists that he hits his son out of the respect for John, while John considers it a rude behaviour towards Danis. And to some extent, DaTong breaches the law. Secondly, from the way they have dinner ,we can see their living styles are different fromours. They use forks and knives ,but we use chopsticks. Then, in western countries, everything is judged according to proof. When they handle something, they prefer to appeal to the law while Chinese are inclined to tackle these difficulties with their own efforts. Next, for love , DaTong is advised to tell the truth that it is his father who does GuaSha treatment to Danis. But DaTong just keeps silent. Chinese emphasize filial affection towards the senior. In contrast ,westerners just want to seek the truth. At last, the cognition of genuine medical treatment is ofdifference. Traditional Chinese medical treatment is assumed to be fake treatment in western countries.(Here are some extracts from the movie:1. It’s not a right thing to hit a child. Sometimes it may break the law.2. To hit somebody means to love somebody.3. In China ,we use chopsticks, but here you use forks.4. It is illegal for parents to leave their children at home alone.5. GuaSha is a traditional Chinese medical treatment.6. There isn’t any written proof can pro ve GuaSha isa real treatment.7. Husband doesn’t care about his son if he is absent when his son is born.8. To keep the mother alive is more important than the son’s life.9. Hit his own son to show the respect for his boss.10. It’s necessary to tell th e truth.11. Because he is a Chinese, he should be filial.12. Better early than late if you will take the plane. )Conclusion:In this movie ,what strikes me most is the love that DaTong has towards his son and his father. Absolutely, DaTong is a tough and filial man. In order to get his son back, he ignores any punishments from the law… Apparently, if there is any difference still existing among different cultures, the possibility of melting people’s attitudes together is somewhat of difficulty. Maybe, colliding with other cultures is just the appropriate way for cultures to assimilate into each other.。
刮痧观后感英文500字
刮痧观后感英文500字刮痧, a Chinese-made film directed by Feng Xiaoning, tells a story about traditional Chinese medicine called "Gui Zha" (or "scraping"), which is used to treat various health problems. The film stars some well-known actors and actresses, such as Gong Li and Wang Qingxiang, who did an excellent job in portraying the complex relationships and conflicts between characters. The film opens with the protagonist, Mr. Zhang, who comes to the United States with his family to live. He has a deep love for traditional Chinese medicine, and even though he has to work hard to adapt to the new environment, he still tries to promote the use of "Gui Zha" in the local community. However, due to cultural misunderstandings and prejudices, many people in the community do not accept his ideas and even accuse him of practicing witchcraft. The film then follows Mr. Zhang's efforts to prove the effectiveness of "Gui Zha" through experiments and treatments. At the same time, it also explores the complex relationships between characters, including Mr. Zhang's relationship with his son, his daughter-in-law's relationship with the local doctor, and Mr. Zhang's conflicts with other characters.Overall, I think "Guasha" is a very good film that successfully combines traditional Chinese medicine with modern storytelling. It not only tells a touching story about family relationships and cultural differences but alsoeducates the audience about the effectiveness and safety of traditional Chinese medicine. The acting in the film is also very good, and I especially like how Gong Li portrays her character's emotions through subtle facial expressions and body language. Finally, I would like to say that "Guasha" is a film that is worth watching not only for its cultural value but also for its artistic quality. It successfully demonstrates the power of traditional Chinese medicine and breaks down cultural barriers. If you have the chance to watch this film, I believe you will not be disappointed.。
刮痧观后感英文2700字
刮痧观后感英文2700字As a member of the audience, I recently watched a film called "Gua Sha". The film had a clear structure with neat and concise layout, flowing and fluent language making it easy to understand and enjoyable to read. Here are my thoughts on the film and its content. To start with, "Gua Sha" is a documentary film about a traditional Chinese medical practice, which involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to enhance blood circulation, relieve pain and release tension. The director and narrator of the film, Ms. Junying Wang, demonstrated the process while sharing her personal experiences of gua sha and its benefits. The film impressed me with its detailed depictions of the process and its outcomes. The narrator paid attention to the intricate steps involved in performing the technique, such as selecting the right edge of the tool, the angle and amount of pressure applied, and the exact locations of the strokes. Moreover, it was fascinating to see the immediate changes in the gua sha patient's body, such as the reddish or purplish marks on the skin, which were indicative of the toxins being released.Furthermore, the film explored the historical and cultural significance of gua sha, including the theory of meridians, which explains how the practice can balance the energy flow in the body, and how it is connected to traditional Chinese medicine. The similarities between gua sha and other popular massages, such as acupuncture and acupressure, were also briefly discussed. The film made me appreciate the power of traditional Chinese medicine and its profound impact on people's health and well-being. Moreover, it highlighted the importance of exploring different healing methods and the benefits of embracing a holistic approach to healthcare. As one of the characters in the film stated, "Western medicine treats the symptoms, but traditional Chinese medicine treats the root cause."In terms of visual elements, the film featured some beautiful and vivid shots of the equipment used in the practice, such as the gua sha tool and the medicinal oils, as well as the striking images of the patient's skin after treatment. The gentle background music complemented the film's calming and soothing nature, inducing a sense of relaxation and serenity. In conclusion, "Gua Sha" is a fascinating and informative film that sheds light on the lesser-known traditions of traditional Chinese medicine, their methods and benefits. The film manages to captivate the audience with its well-written narrative, detailed demonstrations, and historical context, and leaves a lasting impression on those who watch it. As for me, I am eager to learn more about the subject and incorporate gua sha into my health routine, thanks to the powerful insights provided by the film.。

Guasha
I.GUASHA TREATMENT
Before I watch Guasha,I have no idea about Guasha treatment and this kind of Chinese traditional way which is designed to cure some illness.
When I finish watching the movie,I know much more about this Chinese traditional treatment, and I realize that there are big differences between Chinese and American culture, even make American and Chinese hardly understand each other well.
About the film,I didn’t know much about it,but after collect information on the Internet,I know the film better.
Gua sha , meaning "scraping sha-bruises", is a traditional Chinese medical treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising. Practitioners believe gua sha releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing. Gua sha is sometimes referred to as "spooning" or "coining" by English speakers, it has also been given the descriptive French name, tribo-effleurage.
Gua sha involves repeated pressured strokes over lubricated skin with a smooth edged instrument. Skin is typically lubricated with massage oil and commonly a ceramic Chinese soup spoon was used, or a well worn coin, even honed animal bones, water buffalo horn, or jade. A simple metal cap with a rounded edge is commonly used.
In cases of fatigue from heavy work, a piece of ginger root soaked in rice wine is sometimes used to rub down the spine from head to feet.
The smooth edge is placed against the oiled skin surface, pressed down firmly, and then moved down the muscles—hence the term tribo-effleurage (i.e., friction-stroking)—or along the pathway of the acupuncture meridians, along the surface of the skin, with each stroke being about 4–6 inches long.
This causes extravasating or bleeding from the peripheral capillaries and may result in sub-cutaneous blemishing (ecchymosis), which usually takes 2–4 days to fade. Sha rash does not represent capillary rupture (petechiae) as in bruising, as is evidenced by the immediate fading of the markings to echymosis, and the rapid resolution of sha as compared to bruising.
Through these information of Guasha treatment,we can have a better understand of the film.
II.THE PLOT OF THE FILM
The main content of the movie is easy to understand, but there are things that more meaningful.Da tong, the leading man of the film, living in America with his wife, his son and his father who cannot speak English. To treat the little boy’s illness, the old grandpa did Guasha to him,but it is considered to be a kind of violence in America and the kid was kept away from his family. They made great effort to prove Guasha is a kind of treatment, but in vain. Finally, they get together again.
III.MY FEELING AFTER WATCHING
I think the biggest culture difference the film shows us was that Chinese culture was based on experience while western culture was based on science.
Guasha has been used as a kind of treatment for thousands of years in China, just like many other Chinese traditional technique,we just know it is useful but we can’t explain it clearly in academic way.It reflects a kind of Chinese ancient technique, like Li shizhen tasted many kinds of plants to distinguish them and know their medical virtue.Like many textile technology and smelting technology among the people, they get the skill during their daily life, from their understanding of life and the experience in the manual work.
That’s our distinctive ancient technique, which can only formed in ancient China because of our particular social and nature environment.
But in western country, they don’t have the same culture as us.In the western country, theory usually guide the practice, they use scientific theory and scientific invention. So they can’t understand Guasha, which hasn’t got any scientific proof and theory evidence.
We see the big difference of culture in the film,It leads to many misunderstandings and embarrassments.
Nowadays, the world is connected more and we get to know each other much better, but some of Chinese tradition are still a mystery to western country.
As the young generation, what we should do is to propagate our Chinese culture and speak louder in the world, make our culture more influential in the global society.
With our effort, more Chinese traditional culture like Guasha will be accepted by the world in the future.。
