Conventionally, genologists classify poetry into two major domains: the lyrical and the narrative;. 1) The Lyrical Poem The term lyric signifies any fairly short, nonnarrative poem presenting a speaker who expresses a state of mind or a process of thought and feeling. Lyrics fall into two classes, the folk and the literary. And there are subgenres of lyrics. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Angelou is one of America‘s leading female contemporary poets. She spent very unhappy childhood and struggled for a successful life.
