大学旅游英语的教学探析
摘要:本文通过引入esp教学理念,运用esp的教学理念来指导大学旅游英语的教学内容、教学方式的改革,切实提高本院校的旅游英语教学质量,培养出适合国家和社会需要的出色的涉外旅游人才。

随着我国在国际社会上地位的提高,我国的涉外旅游业也取得了快速崛起和发展,国家要求大量既能熟练掌握一门外语又能有效开展涉外旅游服务的人才。
紧俏人才的培养需要教师重新审视自己的教学方法,以便发现问题并解决问题,找出适合学生旅游英语学习的新方法,并要求根据社会的人才需要制定出完善争正确的学习需求调整培养目标,改革旅游英语教学质量,加强涉外旅游人才培养。
esp教学就是为了适应学生的某个特定的实用目的和需要而进行的英语教学,如旅游英语、商务英语、法律英语、科技英语等,都是具有专业性质的英语学习方向,其目的就是培养学生能够在一定的工作环境中自如地运用英语口语能力来开展工作,达到有效的与人沟通和交流。
本文所指的旅游英语是指以涉外旅游工作为主的专业知识,是专门用途英语的一种,其教学不同于基础英语课的教学。
基础英语课主要是看重学生在语言知识的掌握,全面培养学生的语言基本功,而旅游英语是专业外语课,注重交际能力和实际应用英语的能力的培养,特别是口语交际的能力,要求学生不仅要有
一定的语言基础,更要在基础知识的基础上,学习更多的旅游相关专业的知识,所以教师需要具有整套的教学方案、课程实施指导原则,并以实用能力训练为中心。
作为本科学生,旅游专业的学生英语基础普遍都比较好,学生学习旅游英语旨在发挥他们的语言优势,使自己在大学期间掌握具备涉外旅游实务运作的实践能力,并且整合所学涉外旅游方向的行业知识,促进自己的学习知识向培养交流能力转化。
据笔者在本校调查并且发现,大部分旅游英语专业的本科学生选修旅游英语课程大部分是为了学习旅游英语的基础知识,熟悉旅游专业词汇,了解旅游英语中常见的英语句型,最后能够达到运用流利、地道的英语进行涉外旅游服务工作等,其最终的目标是通过英语导游资格证书考试,成为一名合格的涉外旅游人才打下坚实的基础。
为了实现专业语言能力与实际交际能力的有效结合,教师在旅游英语教学目标上应注重既让学生掌握旅游管理和旅游业务知识,又让学生提高在涉外旅游工作中应用英语的能力,使之能熟练地使用行业英语办理业务处理日常事务,最终让每位学生在涉外旅游工作中达到有效而完美的英语交际实践。
综合来看,旅游英语的培养目标和其他英语一样,包括了听、说、读、写、译等实用性技能,但是这些技能的侧重点又有其行业特殊性。
旅游英语对基本听说能力的要求较高,因为在涉外旅游的工作中,经常会接触到来自世界各国的带有严重方言英语的外国游客、他们说话的语速较快,还经常发音不标准,因此,旅游业对英语准要求是必备的十分优秀的英
语听说能力。
旅游英语阅读的专业性较强,要注意选择适当的旅游英语阅读内容,包括介绍一些旅游客源国和接待国的风景名胜、历史古迹、风土人情、生活习俗、饮食文化等,必须尽全力的扩大学生旅游方面的词汇量,帮助学生开阔视野、扩大知识面,加深他们对世界的了解,培养学生对不同文化的理性认识,不断地提高他们将英语的阅读技巧与其专业知识相结合。
旅游英语写作技能与普通英语有很多不同的地方,它是一种有旅游行业习惯的应用文写作,有特定的词法、词汇、篇章结构、语言风格,其写作技巧也有旅游行业特殊性。
旅游英语翻译能力的培养是重点,合格的涉外旅游人才必须具备跨文化翻译能力,特别是将中国文化和景点翻译成英语的能力。
旅游英语教学的目的是培养既有良好的旅游专业知识架构,又具有较好的语言基础和跨文化交流能力,并且了解国际旅游市场运行规则的复合型涉外旅游人才。
但是,在传统英语教学的影响下,旅游英语教学效果不明显,并且存在很多问题,其主要原因是教师复合能力欠缺,旅游英语的教学往往都是由英语专业毕业的语言教师授课,他们英语水平虽一流,但旅游专业知识欠缺,往往局限于教材,不能将传授涉外旅游专业知识与有效地提高英语沟通能力相结合。
要从根本上解决上述问题,就必须进行教学改革。
esp是以实用能力训练为中心的英语教学方法,所以我们应该把esp教学理念引入到旅游英语具体的教学中,就应该在授课过程中坚持以提高学生的旅游英语实用能力为根本。
esp教学改革强调以学生为中心,
因此在旅游英语的教学过程中要开展以学生为中心的各种教学活动,使学生能利用英语在旅游专业领域进行学习、工作和交际,为今后的学术生涯或职业生涯做好充分的准备。
在今后的旅游英语教学中,我们应充分运用esp教学理念指导旅游英语包括教学内容、教学方法,切实提高旅游英语教学的质量,培养出更多适合国家社会需要的涉外旅游专业人才。
