The time message

1.Time is tricky,It is difficult to control and easy to waste.When you look ahead,you think you have more time than you need.*sth.is+difficult/easy to do:表示某事难可容易....例：The book is diffiult to understand.这本书很难看懂。*look ahead:一表示向前看，二表示展望未来。

2.For example, at the beginning of a semester,you may feel that you have plenty of time on your hands. But toward the end of the term you may suddenly find that time is running out.You don't have enough time to cover all your duties,so you get worried.What is the answer?Control!*plenty of:大量

*have time on one's hands:有许多时间*towards the end of...:即将结束时*run out of:用完

3.Time is dangerouse.If you don’t control it,it will control you. If you don’t make it work for you,it will work against you.

此处动词make的句型是make+宾语+不带to的不定式，表示“使...做某事”。

*work against:对...不利

4.So you must become the master of time,not its servent.As a first-year college student,time management will be your number one problem.

*number one:头等的，最重要的

例：The economy is the number one problem at the moment.经济是当前的头等大事。

5.Time is valuable.Wasting time jis a bad habit.It is like a drug.The more time you waste,the easier it is to go on wasting time.

*注意the more...the more...这个句型。The more 代表形容词、副词或不定代词much的比较级形式。这里the more time是waste 的宾语，the easier是it is的表语，it代表to go on wasting it.

例：The more careful you are,the fewer mistakes you make.你越仔细，出的错就越少。

6.If you seriously wish to get most out of college,you must put the time message into practice.

*get the most out of sth: 充分利用...的机会

*put...into practice:付诸实践

例：It's my first trip to shanghai,and I'm going to get the most out of it.这是我第一次去上海，我要充分利用这次机会，不虚此行。

7.Message 1.Control time from the beginning .

Time is today,not tomorrow or next week. start your plan at the beginning of the term.

8.Message 2.Get the notebook habit.

Go and buy a notebook e it to plan your study time each day.Once a weekly study plan is prepared,follow the same pattern every week with small changes. Sunday is a good day to make the paln for the following week.

9.Message 3. Be realistic.

Often you know from experience how long it takes you to write a short essay,to study for a quize,or to review for a finial exam.When you plan time for these things,be realistic.Allow for unexpected things, otherwise your entire plan may be upset.

*otherwise=if not 否则、不然，书面语，口语中用or.

例：we must hurry;otherwise we'll be late for the film.

*allow for:考虑到

10.Message 4. Plan at least one hour for each hour in class. How much study time you plan for each classroom hour depends on four things:

(1) your ability,

(2) the difficulty of the class,

(3) the grades you hope to achieve,and

(4) how well you use your study time.

One thing ,however, is certain: you should plan at least one hour of study for each classroom hour.In many cases,two or three hours will be required.

* 此句的主语是how much 引出的从句。how much time在从句中作plan的宾语。

* at least:至少

* in...case:在...的情况下

*each classroom hour ：每一课时

* required：必须的

*depend on:取决于、随...而定

11.Message 5. Keek your plan flexible.

it is important that you re-plan your time on a weekly basis so
