Have your parents told you that you’ll lose all your teeth if you eat too much chocolate? Chocolate may well taste good, but it has a 1 bad reputation (名声). However, 2 you return that box of chocolates you have just been given, here are some facts about chocolate that should cheer 3 up.
First of all, although chocolate is high 4 sugar, eating it does not always lead to 5 bad teeth. This is because it melts (融化) quickly in your mouth, 6 little time for harmful things to attack your teeth. If you brush them regularly, you 7 have a problem.
You may be wondering about 8 effect on your skin. Bad skin isn’t
caused by chocolate itself, but by the milk that it 9 with. Some people even say 10 chocolate can help our skin look better, but not everyone believe that’s true. And here 11 some more good news: there’s a great deal 12 caffeine in a cup of coffee than in 13 small bar of chocola te, so chocolate won’t keep you 14 at night.
So if you love chocolate, don’t worry. Eating a bit 15 time to time will not do you any harm.

三、阅读(共两节,满分45分)
A
When I was about 12, I had an enemy,a girl who liked to point out my shortcomings.Week by week her list grew: I was very thin, I wasn't a good student, I talked too much, I was too proud, and so on. I tried to bear all these as long as I could. At last,I became very angry. I ran to my father with tears in my eyes.
He listened to me quietly, and then he asked."Are the things she says true or not? Janet, didn’t' t you ever wonder what you're really like? Well, you now have that girl's opinion. Go and make a list of everything she said and mark the points that are true. Pay no attention to the other things she said."
I did as he told me.To my great surprise,I discovered that about half the things were true. Some of them I couldn't change (like being very thin),but a good number I could-and suddenly I wanted to change. For the first time I got a fairly clear picture of myself.
I brought the list back to Daddy. He refused to take it."That's just for you.,"he said."You know better than anyone else the truth about yourself. But you have to learn to listen, not just closing your ears in anger and feeling hurt. When something said about you is true, you'll find it will be of help to you.Our world is full of people who think they know your affairs. Shopping for clothes is not the same experience for a man as it is for a woman. A man goes shopping because he needs something. His purpose is decided in advance. He knows what he wants and his purpose is to find it and buy it, the price is a secondary consideration. Almost all men simply walk into a shop and ask the assistant for what they want. If the shop has it, the salesman immediately produces it and the business of trying it on follows at once. All being well, the deal can be completed in less than five minutes, with hardly any chat and to everyone’s satisfaction.
For a man, slight problems may begin when the shop doesn't have what he wants. In that case the salesman usually tries to sell the customer something else; he does so with skill. "I know this jacket is not the style you want, Sir, but would you like to try it for size? It happens to be the color you mentioned" Few men have patience with this treatment, and the usual response is “This is the right color and may be the right size, but I should be wasting my time and yours by trying it on."
Now how does a woman go about buying clothes? Her shopping is often not based on need. She has never fully made up her mind what she wants, and she is only "having a look" She is always open to others advice, she will try on any number of things. Uppermost in her mind is the thought of finding something that everyone thinks suits her. She is always looking out for the unexpected bargain. Faced with a room full of dresses, a woman may easily spend an hour walking aimlessly from one corner to another, backwards and forwards. It is a tiring process, but apparently an enjoyable one.

第二节阅读填空(共5小题,每小题1分,满分5分)
Recently, a biology teacher in Kansas --a state in the American Midwest-- made national and even international news. After Christine Pelton discovered that 28 of her 118 students had plagiarized(剽窃,抄袭)parts of a major project, she gave them failing grades. Although this was the school policy, the students' parents complained. The school board directed Ms. Pelton to change the punishment: 46 Ms. Pelton resigned in protest.
Why did this become such a significant story? 47 Although the incident may soon be forgotten, it raised some important questions: What is plagiarism? How serious is it? The simplest form of plagiarism occurs when someone copies material without giving credit to the source. 48
Some people claim that copying is necessary to do well in school. They have realized that their own words are not as good as someone else' s. 49 . In fact, it has been learnt that even some highly respected figures, including Martin Luther King, Jr, have plagiarized.
Although some people find reasons to justify(证明,...是正当的)plagiarism, others feel the issue is clear-cut: 50 These people believe that students who plagiarize benefit unfairly. They receive a better grade than they deserve.
A.Another common argument is that everyone does it, so it's not a big deal.
B.Perhaps it is because so many people feel strongly about what is right and wrong.
C.They feel it is morally (道德上)wrong, and consider it stealing--a theft of ideas rather than money.
D.However, there are also more serious forms, such as when a student pays someone else to write an essay.
E.They told her that 600 points should be taken from the offenders, rather than the entire 1,800 points.
