衡水市第二中学2018年寒假高一年级英语假期作业(十七)完成时间:_______________ 分数:__________ 检查人签字:____________第一节:听力(听力课堂37 )(每题1.5分,共30分)第二节:阅读理解(共3篇,每篇4题)(每题2分,共12题,共24分)(A)If you have a bad habit of losing things, a new device that can be connected to any item that you might lose may be the way to solve your problem. The Tile, a small square linked up to your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth, lets you see how close you are to the missing item, within a 50-to 150-foot range . If the item goes out of your phone’s 150-foot range, it can still be detected (发现) on other smartphones with the same app. When you log into the app on your phone, it shows you, with green bars that increase or decrease, how far away you are from the Tile. You can also program it to make a sound when you get close to the Tile. And you can link up your phone with up to ten Tiles. And if your lost item — a dog, for example, or a stolen bike — goes out of your own phone’s 150-foot Bluetooth range, you can set it as a “lost item”. If any of the phones with the Tile app comes within the range of your lost item, a message will be sent to your own phone, reminding you of its position. The Tile app also has the function to remember where it last saw your Tile, so that you can easily find where you left it.Since the Tiles use Bluetooth rather than GPS, they never run out of battery or need to be charged, and they last for one year before needing to be replaced. The app, which will come into the market this winter, works with iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPad Mini, iPad 3rd and 4th generation, and iPod 5th generation.21. For several days, I heard Mum and Dad whispering such words as “hopeless”,“pitiful”,and “dying”, which sounded ominous.Christmas was coming. “Don't expect any presents this year,” Dad said, pointing at the socks I hung in the living room. “If your baby brother lives, that'll be Christmas enough.” As he spoke, his eyes filled with tears. AIs It Bad to Cross Your Legs When You Sit?Crossing your legs is an extremely common habit; most people don’t even notice th at they’re doing it when they sit down. While you may find it comfortable to sit with one knee crossed over the other, it might be causing health problems that you are not aware of.A study published in Blood Pressure Monitoring stated that sitting with your legs crossed can increase your blood pressure. The reason this happens is because the blood in your legs has to work against gravity to be pumped back to your heart, crossing one leg over the other increases resistance, making it even harder for the blood to circulate. This causes your body to increase your blood pressure to push the blood back to the heart. You won't feel any immediate effects, but if you sit for long periods of time it's important that you take note of how long you have your legs crossed for. You shouldn't have your legs crossed for more than 15 minutes, and it's important that you get up and walk around at least once every hour.Crossing your legs can also lead to neck and back pain. Ideally, it's best for our bodies to sit with our feet planted flat, hip width apart, on the floor, but it's not easy to maintain perfect posture all day at the office. When you sit with your legs crossed your hips are in a twisted position, which can cause one of your pelvic bones to rotate. Since your pelvic bone supports your neck and spine, this can cause pressure on your lower and middle back and neck. You also might notice that when you sit with your legs crossed for long periods of time your feet and legs get tingly or have the feeling of being asleep. This isbecause when one leg sits on top of the other it causes pressure on the veins and nerves in your legs and feet. It can cause numbness and/or temporary paralysis in the legs, ankles, or feet. While the feeling of discomfort may only last a minute or two, repeatedly crossing your legs until they feel numb can cause permanent nerve damage. So next time you sit down, try to get yourself in the habit of sitting with both of your feet on the floor. Not only will it help your posture and stability, but it will also save your health in the long run.21.According to para 2, we can infer that___________A.it's no big deal to cross our legs for less than 15 minutes.B.we will feel uncomfortable at the moment we cross the legs.C.we should take a walk every hour after sitting still.D.crossing legs while sitting makes it harder to circulate our blood.22.How many health problems can be caused by crossing legs according to the text?A. 2 B3 C.4 D. 523. Which of the following best shows the structure of the passage?A. ① B ① C. ① D. ①② ③ ② ③ ② ③ ④ ② ③④ ⑤ ④ ⑤ ⑤ ④ ⑤BColumbus Day has been on American calendars since 1937,when President Franklin D.Roosevelt declared October 12 a federal holiday to honor the Italian explorer who“discovered”the Americas in 1492.However,the holiday has always been controversial. Many people believe that Christopher Columbus should not be given cred it for“discovering”the continent, since native Americans had already been living there for generations.Besides, the explorer,s mission was not a scientific“voyage of discovery”,but one intended to conquer the new land.Critics maintain that the Spanish armyColumbus brought on his second voyage, caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of indigenous(土著的)people. Those that survived the massacre became slaves, working in mines. Many, therefore, believe that the explorer's arrival should not be celebrated. In 1977,a delegation of Native nations at the International Conference on Discrimination Against Indigenous Populations in the Americas, proposed renaming the holiday to“Indigenous People’s Day”.The proposal passed with a majority. However, convincing the rest of the country to do the same was not that easy.It took 15 years before the city of Berkeley in California adopted the name in 1992 and then 22 more years before Minneapolis,MN and Seattle,WA did the same in 2014.The following year, eight more cities including Albuquerque,NM and Portland,OR,began celebrating the second Monday of October as“Indigenous People’s Day”. The movement really started to gain momentum in 2016 when 19 cities, including Boulder,CO and Phoenix,AZ,as well as the states of Minnesota and Vermont,a11 decided to rename the day to honor Native Americans. In 2017,21 more cities, including Austin,TX and Los Angeles,CA have made the shih. With the increasingly larger number of cities moving away from Columbus Day each year,it will be interesting t o see if“Indigenous People’s Day”gets federal recognition.Meanwhile,it will continue to be the focal point of debates throughout the Americas.24.Which of the following is the best title of the passage?A.Indigenous People’s Day Has Got Federal Recognition after Years’Work B.Columbus Day Honoring the Italian Explorer Has Always Been Controversial C.Christopher Columbus Should Not Be Given Credit for Discovering Americas D.More Cities Have Replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous People’s Day 25.Many people don’t agree that________.A.Indigenous discovered the continentB.Columbus was a remarkable explorerC.Native Americans were abusedD.Columbus Day is a public holiday26.What can we infer from the second paragraph?A.Columbus was well received by indigenous people.B.The indigenous people hated the Columbus’arrival.C.The Spanish army rebelled against Columbus’rule.D.Few soldiers survived the attack by native Americans.27.Which of the following cities is the earliest to replace Columbus Day with Indigeno us People’s Day?A.Portland. B.Phoenix. C.Seattle. D.Los Angeles.CRecently, Google announced that its voice-activated program, Google Assistant, will be offering a new feature called “Tell Me Something Good.” Users can now give that command and r eceive an earful of positive news stories. What’s more, the New York Times has a page online called “Fixes,” which focuses on what people are doing to fight social ills. As media researcher Karen McIntyre of Virginia Commonwealth University explains, these are all parts of a news movement called constructive journalism.Constructive journalism is different from “feel-good news,” like a fireman rescuing a cat. Instead, constructive journalism offers a more complete but appealing version of the news, says McIntyre. In her opinion, besides focusing on solutions, constructive journalism includes reporting on the historical and social setting of specific news incidents, using reliable data to look at longer-term trends, and avoiding interview techniques that create drama without increasing understanding. However, newspapers thrive on eyes on the page, and editors may be less interested in constructive journalism if they aren’t convinced that it’ll attract their readers. While McIntyre acknowledges those concerns, research has shown the opposite to be true. For example, one study found participants who read an online story that focused on approaches to poverty spent more time on the page than those reading a similar story without focusing on solutions. There is muc h we don’t know yet about how this kind of journalism affectsbehavior. The research is relatively young, though at least one of McIntyre’s studies showed an interesting result: people who read inspiring news stories were more willing afterwards to sign up for generous actions related to the story, such as donating money to support a cause from the story. Therefore, she argues, there’sa hunger for this type of news.28. Why are Google Assistant and Fixes mentioned in the first paragraph?A. To say how the news movement works.B. To stress the importance of positive news.C. To show what constructive journalism is.D. To lead in the topic of the whole text.29. Constructive journalism encourages stories that__________.A. inform people of big events.B. are solution-focused.C. focus on amazing you.D. are based on interesting facts.30. How should constructive journalism stories be written?A. In a serious way.B. In a humorous way.C. In a usual way.D. In an understandable way.31. What may be the problem with constructive journalism?A. That it isn’t appealing to readers.B. That it isn’t easy to collect and edit.C. That it adds to some editors’ concerns.D. That it is unavaila ble to some readers.DCold weather during winter months may keep many people from leaving home and running in the open air. However, a new study shows that the drop in temperature is a good reason to run. In fact, researchers say, running in cold weather helps improve one's performance. Many people say running in the winter can be difficult. Two reasons are the low temperatures and bitter winds. Yet many runners might find it easier than running in hot weather. That could be because lower temperatures reduce stress on the body. When you runin cold weather, your heart rate and the body's dehydration (脱水) levels are lower than in warmer conditions. The body needs less water on a cold day than in warm weather. This information comes from sports scientists at St. Mary’s University in London. John Brewer is a professor of applied sport science at St. Mary’s.For this study, he and other researchers put a group of people into a room they called an “environmental chamber.” The researchers then recreated summer and winter weather conditions in the room. The test subjects were asked to run 10,000 meters under both conditions. Brewer says he and his team recorded biological measurements of the runners.“We've got a group of subjects into the environmental chamber, we've changed the conditions to replicate the summer or winter and we've got them to run a 10km under both of those conditions and taken various measurements on each runner while they've been completing their 10km.”Brewer says every movement runners make produces heat. He explains that one way in which we lose heat is by sweating. The body loses heat through droplets of sweat. He says the body also loses heat by transporting the blood to the surface of the skin.32.What can we know about running in winter?A.It increases pressure of the body. B.It improves the function of body. C.It makes your heart rate higher. D.It needs more water than in summer. 33.What can we know about the research according to the text?A.Researchers interviewed the subjects B.Subjects were asked to run in winter and summer.C.Subjects built the “environmental chamber”.D.Biological measurements of the runners were recorded.34.Which of the following can replace the underlined word “replicate” in Paragraph 7?A.Combine. B.Remember. C.Copy. D.Decorate.35.What’s the best title for the passage?A.Environmental Chamber B.The Way of Losing Heat C.Running in Cold Weather Improves Performance D.Biological Measurements of the Runners第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10 分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

The following are some tips for you.People equal friendsFriends usually begin with strangers. Getting in touch with other people is the first step to make a friend. Friends can’t be made in empty air. Best friends take time to make.Friends understand friendsFriends understand each other when talking. Many unpleasant personal quarrels can be avoided if you will take the time to understand others’ feelings and points of view.Friends touch friendsTouching is a warm from of communication between friends. When you see best friends communicating, you will notice them stand close together, touch each other comfortably and listen to each other. Sometimes a friendly touch is more powerful than words.Friends praise friendsPraise is a powerful tool to make a friend. Honest praise can affect (影响) your friends’ lives. So try to praise your friends, including your general ones.Friends can be loyal (忠诚的) and trustworthyTrust and loyalty go hand in hand for friends. Friends can share secrets with you, because good friends never break confidence (信心) and are loyal forever.36. From Joy Steven’s words, we can conc lude that ________.A. a friend in need is a friend indeedB. it is never too late to make a friendC. it is late to make a friend when you need oneD. everyone needs a friend in his life37. To make and keep many friends, you need to do the following EXCEPT ___________.A. get in touch with peopleB. understand your friendsC. praise your friendsD. quarrel with your friends38. The passage mainly tells us ______________.A. how to communicate with a friendB. how to develop friendshipC. when to make a friendD. how to praise a friendBLiving and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher. If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything.Communication begins with the concerns (关心) of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go up to your room and ignore (不理睬) everyone. Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing. If you looked up the word “communication” in a dictionary, it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance(表达)of information, correspondence(通信), means of communication: a letter or a message”. To maintain (保持) a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note. When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make the m see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse. This is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, not when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad and let the incident go. Communication is the key factor here. If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.Communicati on isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, telling the other person how you feel---listening is the key factor to communication.39. In the writer’s view, dealing with parents is __________ than wi th children.A. more difficultB. easierC. more uninterestingD. more interesting40. The main idea of the second paragraph is __________.A. the importance of friendshipB. to make your feeling known to othersC. the importance of communicationD. the disagreement between generations41. When parents and children are in communication, the key to a happy relationship is that __________.A. children should always obey their parentsB. they should be equalC. parents play the leading partD. both make the opposite know their feelings42. The example in this passage proves that ___________.A. Sophie’s parents are willing to listen to herB. Sophie is very polite to her parentsC. Sophie did well in explaining her being lateD. communication is the solution to misunderstandingCWhen I was six, Dad brought home a dog one day, who was called “Brownie”. My brothers and I all loved Brownie and did different things with her. One of us would walk her, another would feed her, then there were baths, playing catch and many other games. Brownie, in return, loved each and every one of us. One thing that most touched my heart was that she would go to whoever was sick and just be with them. We always felt better when she was around. One day, as I was getting her food, she chewed up (咬破) one of Dad’s shoes, which had to be thrown away in the end. I knew Dad would be mad and I had to let her know what she did was wrong. When I looked at her and said, “Bad girl,” she looked down at the groun d and then went and hid. I saw a tear in her eyes.Brownie turned out to be more than just our family pet, she went everywhere with us. People would stop and ask if they could pet her. Of course she’d let anyone pet her. She was just the most lovable dog. There were many times when we’d be out walking and a small child would come over and pull on her hair. She never barked (吠) or tried to get away. The funny thing is that she would smile. This frightened people because they thought she was showing her teeth. Far from the truth, she loved everyone. Now many years have passed since Brownie died of old age. I still miss days when she was with us.43. What would Brownie do when someone was ill in the family?A. Look at them sadly.B. Keep them company.C. Play games with them.D. Touch them gently.44. We can infer from Paragraph 2 that Brownie__________.A. would eat anything when hungryB. felt sorry for her mistakeC. loved playing hide-and-seekD. disliked the author’s dad45. Some people got frightened by Brownie when she__________.A. smiledB. barkedC. rushed to themD. tried to be funny46. Which of the following best describes Brownie?A. ShyB. PoliteC. BraveD. CaringDI grew up in a house where the TV was seldom turned on and with one wall in my bedroom entirely lined with bookshelves, most of my childhood was spent on books I could get hold of. In fact, I grew up thinking of reading as natural as breathing and books unbelievably powerful in shaping perspectives (观点) by creating worlds we could step into, take part in and live in.With this unshakable belief, I, at fourteen, decided to become a writer. Here too, reading became useful. Every writer starts off knowing that he has something to say, but being unable to find the right ways to say it. He has to find his own voice by reading widely and discovering which parts of the writers he agrees or disagrees with, or agrees with so strongly that it reshapes his own world. He cannot wri te without loving to read, because only through reading other people’s writing can one discover what works, what doesn’t and, in the end, together with lots of practice, what voice he has.Now I am in college, and have come to realize how important it is to read fiction (文学作品). As a law student, my reading is in fact limited to subject matter—the volume (量) of what I have to read for classes every week means there is little time to read anything else. Such reading made it all the clearer to me that I live in a very small part in this great place called life. Reading fiction reminds me that there is life beyond my own. It allows me to travel across the high seas and along the Silk Road, all from the comfort of my own armchair, to experience, though secondhand, exciting experiences that I wouldn't necessarily be able to have in my lifetime.47. What can be inferred about the author as a child?A. He never watched TV.B. He read what he had to.C. He found reading unbelievable.D. He considered reading part of his life.48. The underlined word “voice” in the second paragraph most probably means “”.A. an ideaB. a sound qualityC. a way of writingD. a world to write about49. What effect does reading have on the author?A. It helps him to realize his dream.B. It opens up a wider world for him.C. It makes his college life more interesting.D. It increases his interest in worldwide travel.50. Which of the following can be the best title of this text?A. Why do I read?B. How do I read?C. What do I read?D. When do I read?四、单词拼写(共10小题;每小题0.5分,满分5分)51. ASome idiomatic phrases in English, often used in both spoken and written language, are very confusing! They don’t even make sense when you first see them. However, using one of these phrases correctly when speaking or writing to an English speaker is very impressive and shows that you are comfortable with the language. Here are some wonderful and interesting British idioms. Use them wisely. When pigs fly! This expression is one of my favorites and I use it all the time. It is used primarily when speaking, meaning that something is extremely unlikely or impossible. For example, “I will forgive him when pigs fly!” “When do you th ink you will get a gym membership, Lucy?” “When pigs fly!”A penny for your thoughts? This question is used in a situation where someone appears thoughtful or is very quiet seeming lost in thought. But remember that you don’t actually have to pay them a pe nny if they do tell you what is going on! For example, “You’ve been a bit quiet this evening, Pete. A penny for your thoughts?”It’s the bee’s kneesThe phrase dates back to the 1920s, and refers to an extraordinary person, thing, idea, and so on. For exam ple, “Try this chocolate. It’s the bee’s knees.”To feel a bit under the weatherI use this expression in many different situations but most use it to refer to feeling ill, or unwell. You would not use this phrase if you were feeling extremely unwell. It is only for those times when you are feeling a little ill or suffering from something slightly like a cold or a cough. However, this can also be used to refer to feeling emotionally low.21. What will you say if you think something is special?A. When pigs fly!B. A penny for your thoughts?C. It’s the bee’s kneesD. To feel a bit under the weather.22. Which of the following sentence can replace “A penny for your thoughts?”A. What can I do for you?B. What are you thinking about?C. How are you feeling?D. How do you like it?23. Why does the author write the passage?A. To introduce some useful idioms.B. To show how to remember idioms.C. To tell people the importance of idioms.D. To arouse the interest in idioms.BPeople diet to look more attractive. Fish diet to avoid being beaten up, thrown out of their social group, and getting eaten as a result. That is the fascinating conclusion of the latest research into fish behavior by a team of Australian scientists. The research team has discovered that subordinate fish voluntarily diet to avoid challenging their larger competitors. “In studying gobies we noticed that only the largest two individuals, a male and female, had breeding(繁殖) rights within the group, ”explains Marian Wong. “All ot her group members are non-breeding females, each being 5–10% smaller than its next largest competitor. We wanted to find out how they maintain this precise size separation.”The reason for the size difference was easy to see. Once a subordinate fish grows to within 5–10% of the size of its larger competitor,it causes a fight which usually ends in the smaller goby being driven away from the group. More often than not, the evicted fish is then eaten up.It appeared that the smaller fish were keeping themselves small in order to avoid challenging the boss fish. Whether they did so voluntarily,by restraining how much they ate, was not clear. The research team decided to do an experiment. They tried to fatten up some of the subordinate gobies to see what happened. To their surprise, the gobies simply refused the extra food they were offered, clearly preferring to remain small and avoid fights, over having a feast. The discovery challenges the traditional scientific view of how boss individuals keep their position in a group. Previously it was thought that large individualssimply used their weight and size to threaten their subordinates and take more of the food for themselves, so keeping their competitors small. While the habits of gobies may seem a little mysterious, Dr. Wong explains that understanding the relationships between boss and subordinate animals is important to understanding how hierarchical (等级的) societies remain stable. The research has proved the fact that voluntary dieting is a habit far from exclusi ve to humans. “As yet, we lack a complete understanding of how widespread the voluntary reduction of food intake is in nature,” the researchers comment. “Data on human dieting suggests that, while humans generally diet to improve health or increase attractiveness, rarely does it improve long term health and males regularly prefer females that are fatter than the females’ own ideal.”24. When a goby grows to within 5–10% of the size of its larger competitor, it_______.A. faces dangerB. has breeding rightsC. eats its competitorD. leaves the group itself25. The underlined words “the evicted fish” in Paragraph 3 refer to _______.A. the fish beaten upB. the fish found outC. the fish fattened upD. the fish driven away26. The experiment showed that the smaller fish_______.A. fought over a feastB. went on diet willinglyC. preferred some extra foodD. challenged the boss fish27. What is the text mainly about?A. Fish dieting and human dieting.B. Dieting and health.C. Human dieting.D. Fish dieting.CJohn Steinbeck once said, “All American believe they are born fishermen. For a man to admit to a distaste in fishing would be like speaking publicly against mother-love or hating moonlight”.I can’t say I’m the biggest John St einbeck fan. Actually, the only thing I can ever remember reading by him was “The Pearl” when I was in middle school, butI couldn’t agree more with the man when it comes to fishing. When I am on a boat in the middle of the lay Lake, fishing off the shores of the Florida Keys for tarpon or catching rainbow trout in the Shoshone River of Wyoming. Fishing is my life.According to the American Sports Fishing Association, the fishing industry brings in more than $ 116 billion per year from fishermen across the country.Though a beautiful picture to imagine, fishing is much more than that. Fishing is a way of life from many people and a way to escape everyday stress. Being a fisherman makes me a member of a wonderful group of people extending to all walks of life. Even President Bush can be found fishing on his farm in Texas with his good friend Roland Martin when the jobs gets too stressful.I can remember fishing with my grandfather when I was 5 years old on his boat at Lake Michel. Although I didn’t understand what I was doing, I did know that my grandfather was happy and that made me happy. Since then I’ve spent the past 16 years on the rivers and lakes of Alabama. After days of practice, before and after work, I slowly developed an understanding of fishing. My boss, Ric Horst, took me back to the Shoshone, and I managed to bring in a 19-inch cutthroat trout. Fishing with Ric was a life-changing experience for me. He not only showed me how to fish correctly, but also told me how fishing could be a way to escape your problems.Since then, prime-time season seems to take forever to arrive. Now, with the ending of February and beginning of March is sight, the excitement of heading out to Lake Tus caloosa or Lake Lurleen before classes and catching something has finally returned.28.What John Steinbeck said in the first paragraph implies that ______A.American are believed to be the offspring of fishermen.B.it is unthinkable for an American to admit his dislike of fishing.C.All American are expert at fishing.D.Those who dislike fishing would not love their mother.29.The writer came to understand the real meaning of fishing ______.A.When he was reading “The Pearl” by John SteinbeckB.When he went fishing with his grandfather at Lake MitchellC.After he had spent 16 years on the rivers and lakes of AlabamaD.After he went fishing with his boss, Ric Horst on the Shoshone30.According to the author, ______.A.People can get to know VIPs when fishingB.People can smooth away all the troubles by fishingC.Fishing is a way of communicationD.Fishing is a way of life for most American people31.What is the purpose of the writing?A.To describe the writer’s experience and understanding of fishing.B.To explain the reason why so many Americans like fishing.C.To make others understand the industry of fishing.D.To express his opinions about fishing in different time of the year.DA small piece of fish each day may keep the heart doctor away. That’s the finding of a study of Dutch men in which deaths from heart disease were more than 50 percent lower among those who consumed at least an ounce of salt water fish per day compared to those who never ate fish. The Dutch research is one of three human studies that give strong scientific support to the long held belief that eating fish can provide health benefits, particularly to the heart.Heart disease is the number-one killer in the United States, with more than 550,000 deaths occurring from heart attacks each year. But previous research has shown that the level of heart disease is lower in cultures that consume more fish than Americans do. There are fewer heart disease deaths, for example, among the Eskimos of Greenland, who consume about 14 ounces of fish a day, and among the Japanese, whose daily fish consumption averages more than 3 ounces. For 20 years, the Dutch study followed 852 middle-aged men, 20 percent of whom ate no fish. At the start of the study, average fish consumption was about two-thirds of an ounce each day, with more men eating lean fish than fatty fish.During the next two decades, 78 of the men died from heart disease. The fewest deaths were among the group who regularly ate fish, even at levels far lower than those of the Japanese or Eskimos. This relationship was true regardless of other factors such as age, high blood pressure, or blood cholesterol(胆固醇)levels.32.The passage is mainly about _________.A.the high incidence of heart disease in some countriesB.the changes in people’s dietC.the effect of fish eating on people’s healthD.the daily fish consumption of people in different cultures33.We can infer from the passage that there are fewer heart disease deaths ________.A.in countries of the yellow-skin raceB.in highly-developed countriesC.in the countries with high consumption of fishD.in the countries with good production of fish34.The phrase “this relationship” in paragraph 6 refers to the connection between _________ and the level of heart disease.A.the amount of fish eaten B.regular fish-eatingC.the kind of fish eaten D.people of different areas35.From the passage we know the author is most probably ______.A.a heart doctor B.a science researcherC.a supporter of healthy eating D.a university student第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10 分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

AHappiness is for everyone. You don’t need to care about those people who have beautiful houses with large gardens and swimming pools or those who have nice cars and a lot of money and so on. Why? Because those who have big houses may often feel lonely and those who have cars may want to walk on the country roads at their free time.In fact, happiness is always around you if you put your heart into it. When you are in trouble at school, your friends will help you; when you study hard at your lessons, your parents are always taking good care of your life and your health; when you get success, your friends will say congratulations to you; when you do something wrong, people around you will help you to correct it. And when you do something good to others, you will feel happy, too. All these are your happiness. If you notice them, you can see that happiness is always around you.Happiness is not the same as money. It is a feeling of your heart. When you are poor, you can also say you are very happy, because you have something else that can’t be bought with money. When you meet with difficulties, you can say loudly you are very happy, because you have more chances to challenge yourself. So you cannot always say you are poor and you have bad luck. As the saying goes, life is like a revolving(旋转 ) door. When it closes, it also opens. If you take every chance you get, you can be a happy and lucky person.21. When you do something wrong, _______________.A. you may correct itB. you will have no chance to challenge yourselfC. anybody will laugh at youD. you will be happy22. Which is TRUE according to the passage?A. When you get success, your friends will be very proud of you.B. You can get help from others when you make mistakes.C. You can still be a happy person even if you have little money.D. All the above.23.Why do we say “Happiness is not the same as money”? Because _______________.A. money always brings happinessB. money doesn’t always bring happinessC. everything can be bought with moneyD. only rich people have happiness24. Which is the title of the passage?A. Do Something Good to OthersB. Happy and LuckyC. HappinessD. Life and SuccessB“Stop making excuses for him,Mom,”I said.“But maybe he is feeling unwell...” Mom said.“Maybe nothing,” I interrupted. I had been tending Mom since her health began to decline and this would be the first time in a year that my husband and I had a night out together. Jerry had promised to stay with Mom. But again he let us down. And more often than not,his drinking had a lot to do with it. His irresponsibility upset me.I remembered our happy growingup ye ars in a small town in West Virginia. With good family education,Jerry had been a kind kid. He was only 15 when Dad died. Unlike him,I got over the sorrow soon, but he started drinking. Soon he began hanging out with bad guys.Jerry and I didn’t see each ot her often, but we talked on the phone. Usually, though,we ended up fighting. When Mom came to live with us,Jerry dropped in regularlyat first, but after a while his visits became sporadic. He explained he couldn’t handle seeing Mom in such a bad condition. Another excuse,I thought. One day I went to see the doctor about my back.It had been aching for months.“I can’t find anything wrong with you physically,”the doctor said.“But I can tell you’re very tense. Is something bothering you?” I poured out my story ab out Jerry.“Do you think he’s likely to change?” he asked. I shrugged.“Probably not.”“But,you can,”he said gently.Me?Why did I have to change? He was the one who constantly let us down. But what had I done?Maybe the doctor was right. I couldn’t love his beha vior, but I could love him—the way I did when we were little. As I walked into the house I sensed a relief.Jerry died young due to drinking .I miss him. But I’m grateful I was given the opportunity to show him I loved him—as he was,not as I wanted him to be.25. Jerry got into the habit of drinking mainly because________.A.he was influenced by bad guysB.his mom left to live with his sisterC.nobody cared for him after his father diedD.he couldn’t get over the sadness of losing his fathe r26. The underlined word “sporadic” in Paragraph 3 probably means “________”.A.occasionalB.frequentC.formalD.unpleasant27. What did the author think of the doctor’s suggestion at first?A.It was acceptable.B.It gave her much hope.C.It was unreasonable.D.It made her confused.28. What’s the main idea of the passage?A.Love can help a person give up bad habits.B.Too much tension will destroy a person’s health.C.We shouldn’t expect too much of a person.D.We should try to love a person as he is.CDigital technology-email and smart phones especially-have vastly improved workers’ ability to be productive outside of a traditional office. Even so, most white-collar work still happens in an office. One reason is that, according to findings of a new survey of office workers conducted by Wakefield Research for theIT company Citrix, most bosses arc doubtful about remote working. Half of the workers say their boss doesn’t accept it, and only 35 percent say it’s tolerat ed.Skeptical bosses will likely have their doubts reinforced (加深) by the same survey, which shows that 43 percent of workers say they’ve watched TV or a movie while “working” remotely, while 35 percent have done housework, and 28 percent have cooked dinner. It is true, however, that working at home makes people much more efficient (高效的), because it allows workers to take care of annoying housework while still getting their jobs done. It’s much faster, for example, to shop for groceries at a quarter to three than to stand in line during the after-work rush. The fact that such practices remain officially unaccepted reflects how far we haven’t come as a society from the days when we expected every full-time worker to be supported by a full-time homemaker.More broadly the Wakefield survey suggests that employers may be missing a low-cost way to give workers something of value. Sixty-four percent of those survey participants who haven’t worked remotely would rather give up some bonus in order to get even one day a week working from home. Under such circumstances, smart firms need to find ways to let their employees have enough flexibility (灵活性) to manage their time efficiently.29. Why do some employers hesitate to allow remote working?A. They have little trust in modem technology.B. They want to stick to their routine practice.C. They fear losing control of their workers.D. They are used to face-to-face communication.30. What seems to be most workers’ attitude toward remote working?A. Favorable.B. Doubtful.C. Reserved.D. Disapproving.31. What does the author suggest smart firms do?A. Shorten their office hours.B. Give employees a pay raise.C. Reduce their staffs workload.D. Adopt flexible work patterns.DLondoners are great readers. They buy large numbers of newspapers, magazines and books — especially paperbacks (平装书), which are still cheap in spite of everincreasing rises in the costs of printing. They still continue to buy “proper” books, too, printed on good paper. There are many streets in London containing shops which specialize in bookselling. Perhaps the best known of these is Charing Cross Road in the very heart of London. Here bookshops of all sorts and sizes are to be found, from the celebrated one which is said to be “the biggest bookshop in the world” to the tiny, dusty little places which seem to have been left over from Dickens' time. Some of these shops stock, or will make efforts to get, any kind of book, but many of them specialize in secondhand books, in art books, in foreign books, in books on economics, politics or any other subjects about which books may be written. One shop in this area specializes only in books about ballet.Although it may be the most convenient place for Londoners to buy books, Charing Cross Road is not the cheapest. For really cheap secondhand books, collectors must venture_off_the_beaten_track to Farringdon Road, in the East Central district of London. Here there is nothing so impressive as bookshops. A“ Fire! Fire!” What terrible words to hear when one wakes up in a strange house in the middle of the night! It was a large, old, wooden house and my room was on the top floor. I jumped out of bed, opened the door and stepped outside the house. There was full of thick smoke.I began to run, but as I was still only half-awake, instead of going towards the stairs I went in the opposite direction. The smoke grew thicker and I could see fire all around. The floor became hot under my bare(赤裸的)feet. I found an open door and ran into a room to get to the window. But before I could reach it, one of my feet caught in something soft and I fell down. AMaybe you want to give back to your community, but you don’t know where to begin. It was some- thing Rebecca Reeder used to hear from friends whenever they learned she volunteered around the Los Angeles area. The idea finally took shape during her 30th birthday celebration. Reeder and her brother put together a surprise party for her guests. They rented a party bus in secret and invited everyone she knew to a mystery (神秘) event. The surprise bus ride was not only a hit but also an effective ice breaker. Many guests had never met before that night but they were all fast friends by the end of the trip.Reeder and a friend realized this might be the answer for friends seeking fun ways to do good. Then they began Do Good Bus and hosted their first community ride in 2010. Everyone assumed it would be a one-off event, but participants had such fun and felt so good about giving back that they demanded another. And then another. “This kind of things just snowballed from there,” says Reeder, who is now a full-time director of the growing nonprofit organization.Over the past seven years, Do Good Bus has offered once-a-month public rides in Los Angeles. Volunteers board the bus and ride to a mystery community service project. Reeder likes to keep the loca-tions and causes a secret to add an element of fun and mystery, and to prevent people from arriving with too much expectation.Participants pay $ 45, with 10 percent going to the day's cause and the rest going to Do Good Bus to help cover costs and run the program.Rides usually last four to five hours and include everything from working in homeless shelters to beach cleanups to planting community gardens. The aim, says Reeder, is to raise awareness about causes, and encourage continued support in the community while having a good time.21. It offers a pleasant way todo good deeds.C. It raises money for the participants' community.D. It gives a surprising and friendly celebration.BWatching wooden dolls come to life may not be one of the most popular formsof entertainment today, but with over twenty ye ars’ experience, talented puppeteer (木偶表演者) Peter Roberts has earned himself the title “master puppeteer” because of his great ability to turn puppets into believable, almost living characters. “People are quite often surprised to hear what I do for a living and have little appreci-ation of puppy as a form of entertainment. But while the exact origins of puppet theatre are unknown, it has been popular in many cultures and may have been the very first kind of theatre,” he explains.Roberts' shows are h ighly original. “A puppet show can involve anything from clowning(傻逗) to storytelling,” he says. Equally diverse are the audiences he performs for. “Some are attracted by the puppets themselves, while others enjoy the dialogue.” Roberts believes that this form of entertainment can be appreciatedby people of all ages and cultures.Roberts' interest in puppets started when he received some beautiful glove puppets one Christmas. He started putting on shows with these for family and friends and then moved on to handmade Chinese string puppets. Learning mostly from books and personal experience, he explains, “I was already spending most of my free time carving puppets and putting on shows, so I hardly noticed the change from students to full-time professional puppeteer.”The puppets are designed specifically for each show, whih is extremely time consuming. According to Roberts, “Sometimes what you expect and what you actually create in the end are two very different things. I've made some o f my best puppets ‘accident-ally'.”When most people hear the word “puppetry”, they more than likely think of a way of keeping child-ren entertained at birthday parties. Certainly the subject matter will be expected to be light-hearted rather than serious. However, Roberts wants to point out that puppets convey serious messages sometimes.” he says. 24.What do we know about puppetry in the first paragraph?A.It is a most popular form of entertainment. B.It cannot give people pleasure any more.C.It was first brought to life by Peter Roberts. D.Its value as an art form is not fully recognized.25.In Roberts’ eyes, his puppet shows .A.usually attract people full of humor B.are most something for old aged audienceC.display something meaningful for different people D.involve hard work and great intelligence26.Roberts developed an interest in puppets because of .A.the puppet show books B.his university majorC.a Christmas gift D.some Chinese string puppets 27.What does Roberts want people to think of puppet theatre?A.It is just a kind of entertainment for kids. B.It can be educational as well as entertaining.C.It is only a kind of serious art form. D.It should be kept light-heartedCLAS VEGAS— It was different in the light of day. There was no ‘pop, pop, pop’ of gunfire, no screams. Just a quiet lot of cars abandoned by those, like Kassidy Owen, who escaped with their lives.“It’s strange to hear the silence,” Owen said, “because all I remember was the noise.”The 22-year-old was one of dozens of concertgoers who returned to the scene of the Route 91 Harvest festival on Wednesday morning to fetch the vehicles they left behind as they fled from a gunman raining down bullets from high above in the tower of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino across the street.Survivors of the deadly mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday needed their cars to move on with their lives —to get back to work, to school, home. It was the first time they were returning to a scene that would forever change them, when joy and celebration and music turned into killing and horror. Before they could move forward, they had to go back to the place where they thought they were going to die.Owen had run to her car to hide and had tried to drive away, but she couldn’t. People were running, bodies dropped to the ground, and cars bottlenecked in the parking lot. During a brief pause after more than 10 minutes of gunfire, she worried the lights of her SUV made everyone inside a shining target.“They’re shooting again!” her best friend’s brother screamed. “‘Turn off the car!’”That’s when she got out and fled.“I just remember shutting the door and running,” Owen said. Now, nearly three days later, she was back, sitting in the driver’s seat of her SUV. Her eyes were swollen and red. This was a long way from over.“You just keep hearing the gunshots in your head,” Owen said.28. Why did Kassidy Owen return to the scene of terror?A. To get back her car for daily life.B. To show sympathy to the victims.C. To search for her missing friends.D. To look into the cause of the shooting.29. Where was the gunman when the mass shooting happened?A. Behind a car.B. In the parking lot.C. On the stage.D. In a tall building.30. Why did Owen keep hearing the gunshots in her head?A. Because she had saved others’ lives by turning off the car.31. Where is the text probably taken from?A. A story book.B. A newspaper.C. A guide book.D. At about 70 inches tall and weighing nearly 220 pounds, Robocop seeks to engage with residents and tourists. Featuring an “emotion detector (探测器)”, the robot can recognize a person’s gestures and body language from about 5 feet away.Robocop’s skills don’t stop there—the emotionally intelligent bot can detect if a person is happy, sad and even angry by studying his or her facial expression. And just like your human friends would do, ifRobocop sees you’re unhappy, it will try to lift your spirits. More importantly, when it comes to fighting crime, the robot uses the Internet, artificial intelligence and other smart technologies to spot offenders using facial recognition. Its navigation (导航) skills grant it the ability to map out areas and travel on its own. Equipped with a built-in tablet, Robocop can communicate with people, speak six languages, respond to publicinquiries, shake hands and even make military salutes.“With the aim to assist people on the streets,” said Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser A1 Razzouqi, director-general of smart services at Dubai Police, “the Robocop is the latest smart addition to the force and has been designed to helpus fight crime recently, kee p the city safe and improve happiness levels.”32. Scientists have begun to catch on to what farmers have known for thousands of years.Animals often seem to know in advance that an earthquake is coming, and they show their fear by acting in strange ways. Before a Chinese quake in 1975 snakes awoke from their winter sleep early only to freeze to death in the cold air.Cows broke their halters (缰绳) and tried to escape.Chickens refused to enter their coops. All of this unusual behavior,as well as physical changes in Earth, alerted Chinese scientists to the coming quake. They moved people away from the dangerous area and saved thousands of lives. One task for scientists today is to learn exactly which types of animals’ behaviorpredicts quakes. It’s not an easy job.First of all,not every animal can react to the danger of an earthquake.Just before a California quake in 1977,for example,an Arabian horse became very nervous and tried to break out of his stall. The horse next to it,however, reminded perfectly calm. It’s also difficult at times to tell the difference betwee n normal animals restless and “earthquake nerves”.A zoo keeper once called earthquake researchers to say that his cougar (美洲狮) had been acting strangely. It turned out that the cat had an upset stomach!A second task for scientists is to find out exactly what kind of warnings the animals receive. They know that animals sense far more of the world than humans do.Many animals can see, hear, and smell things that people do not even notice. Some can detect tiny changes in air pressure, gravity,or the magnetism (磁力) of Earth. This extra sense probably helps animals predict quakes.1.What is the main idea of this passage?A.Animals don’t know when an earthquake is coming.B.Animals can predict earthquakes.C.The author doesn’t know whether the animals can feel the comin g of an earthquake or not.D.Human beings have to move the animals away before an earthquake is coming. 2.Some animals could predict earthquakes because they can detect tiny changes________.A.in the air pressureB.in gravityC.in the magnetism of the earthD.all of the above3.How do all the animals exactly know when an earthquake is coming?A.By their extra senses.B.By the changes in air pressure, gravity or the magnetism.C.People don’t know exactly.D.The passage doesn’t mention it.4.The author’s purpo se is mainly to________.A.express an argumentB.make a serious proposalC.present a discoveryD.express suspicions【答案解析】寒假作业17一.单项填空1.D [本题考查以however引导的让步状语从句的语序知识,however+形容词+主+谓。

I always take along books to read on my train trips, but in the end, only about five pages or so ever get read, because I just look at things out of the window. Just the ability to move is very enjoyable. Movement also means that we are going to new places and seeing new things. But why isthat important? Because experiencing new situations, people and ideas can help us to learn about new things and grow. I have never gone on a trip and come back as the same person; I have always changed and grown through travel. So take every type of trip you can, at every chance you get, and you will not only experience more of the world, but will become a happier person with rich experiences.1.The passage is mainly about .A.how to have a comfortable lifeB.how to prepare for a tripC.why travel is so excitingD.why some people are tired of travelling2.W hy doesn’t the author read much on train trips?A.Because he doesn’t like reading on the trainB.Because his attention was taken away by the beautiful view.C.Because he is too busy working to read.D.Because he is so tired that he can’t read.3.People who travel to new places will ________.①learn new things②become happier③get more experiences④have more chances to read A.①②③④B.①②④C.②③④D.①②③4.The author develops the passage mainly by________.A.giving explanationsB.giving examplesC.listing numberD.following the natural time order8、 In choosing a friend, one should be very careful. A good friend can help you study. You can have fun together and make each other happy. Sometimes you will meet fair weather friends. They will be with you as long as you have money or luck, but when you are down, they will run away. How do I know when I have found a good friend? I look for certain qualities (品质) of character, especially understanding, honesty and reliability (可靠).I look for understanding in a friend, which I think is of great importance. A good friend tries to understand how another person is feeling. He is not quick to judge. Instead, he tries to learn from others. He puts himself in the other person's place, and he tries to think of ways to be helpful. He is also a good listener. At the same time, however, a good friend is honest. He does not look for faults (过错) in others. He notices their good points. In short, a friend will try to understand me and accept me.Another quality of a friend is reliability. I can always depend on a good friend. If he tells me he will meet me somewhere at a certain time, I can be sure that he will be there. If I need a favor, he will do his best to help me. If I am in trouble, he will not run away from me.There is a fourth quality that makes a friend special. A special friend is someone with whom we can have fun.We should enjoy our lives, and we would enjoy our friendship. That is why I especially like friends who are fun to be with. A good friend likes the same things I like. We share experience and learn from each other. A good friend has a good sense of humor, too. He likes to laugh with me. That is how we share in the joy of being friends. And I know that he is looking for the same quality in me.When I meet someone who is reliable, honest, and understanding,I know I've found a friend!1.Which of the following qualities the writer thinks is greatly important in choosing a friend?A.understanding.B.honesty.C.reliability.D.a sense of humor.2.If you have fair weather friends, _______.A.they will give you all that they have when you need helpB.you will be refused when you get into troubleC.you will become richD.you can be sure that you get real friends3.This passage mainly discuss_______.A.the qualities of a friendB.where to choose friendsC.how to get along with friendsD.the importance of having a friend七选五9、根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最正确选项。

But don’t expect any improvements. Flu experts are already admitting that most vaccines will give at best basic protection, because they’re based on old-fashioned technology. It’s not a new problem, bu t one that the slow-moving world of drug and vaccine production seems helpless to improve upon.Every flu vaccine is a cocktail, aimed at either three or four of the most common flu types. Flu vaccines must be reformulated every year, because flu viruses develop constantly in a process called antigenic drift. In February, global flu experts gather to trade notes on what viruses are circulating in different countries and to come to an agreement on which types the next vaccines should be formulated to target. In recent years, flu vaccines have been based on H1N1, H3N2 and either one or two types of influenza B virus. Each of these has a “reference” type, which is used to make seed virus. Producers inject the seed types into eggs and incubate (孵) them as the virus grows. Then they purify the virus, and either weaken it or kill it to make a vaccine.Using eggs is a tricky and unpredic table process. Sometimes the virus doesn’t grow well in eggs, which can mean less vaccine than expected. The result is a flu vaccine that doesn’t offer much protec ti on. “As long as we have eggs w e are going to have this problem,” said Scott Hensley, a flu virus expert, “The only solution is not t o depend on eggs.”Flu is a major killer. The 2017—2018 season has been a severe one, hitting the entire U.S. with widespread influenza infection (传染) at once for weeks on end, and killing 97 children so far. Against this threat, even a less satisfying flu vaccine will definitely help. “Even when you have these mismatches it will not prevent infection but likely prevent disease severity,” said Hensley.24. Why does next season flu vaccine fail to improve?A. It has offered the best protection.B. Experts can’t forecast the flu types.C. It is based on outdated technology.D. Experts are unwilling to respond to changes.25. According to Paragraph 2, what do flu experts do in February?A. Exchange views on the virus types next season.B. Get together and discuss how to improve flu vaccines.C. Sign an agreement on vaccine production.D. Decide on how to circulate the viruses.26. What might be the risk of using eggs to make vaccines?A. Seeds are less likely to get protection.B. Viruses might not be developed as expectedC. There are not enough eggs to be used.D. Whether vaccines will grow is hard to predict.27. What message does the underlined sentence convey?A. Egg-based vaccines are better than nothing.B. The U.S. is faced with serious flu attacks.C. There is something wrong with flu vaccines.D. Flu vaccines can stop the disease spreading.CSydney's Royal Botanic Gardens are to start a war on gray-headed flying foxes. These super bats have invaded one of Australia’s most famous public spaces. Officials have said the animals are destroying trees and have to move on.These unwanted guests at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Gardens look like tiny foxes with wings. Officials have estimated there are about 11,000 of them living in the picturesque harbor-side park. After inspecting damage to dozens of trees they now believe there are twice as many as previously thought. Branches have been breaking under the weight of these furry invaders and their droppings have been poisoning plants.Help may well be at hand, however, in the shape of the ordinary garbage bin. The gardens’ director Dr. Tim Entwistle hopes the unpleasant sounds of crashing bin lids will agitate the flying foxes and force them to move on. “The way to disturbthem is to use noises, so we’ve used the loud noises made by rubbish bins in the past. You can also use speakers as long as you move the noise around, and what we’ll do is have a series of noises, at the beginning and end of the day. What we’ve found in the past is that the flying foxes leave the gardens and go somewhere else,” said Tim.The gray-headed flying fox is Australia’s largest bat. It flies around at night using its eyes and a powerful sense of smell to search for fruit and flowers. Officials at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney have said they’re optimistic the unwelcome colony can be uprooted. If and when the bats do move to other parts of the city they will of course then become someone else’s problem.28. According to the passage, Why do people want to get rid of the flying foxes ?A. Because the garden are important public places.B. Because they are polluting the city.C. Because many garbage bins have been damaged by them.D. Because they’re threatening the survival of trees and other plants.29. In order to get rid of the flying foxes, what are people doing?A. They are shooting them.B. They are using rubbish containers.C. They are shaking the trees hard.D. They are cutting some trees down.30. Which of the following can replace the underlined “agitate” in Paragraph 3?A. ExciteB. killC. disturbD. discourage31. What does the writer imply from the last paragraph?A. The bats will still stay in the gardens.B. Some area will have to deal with the bats.C. The grey-headed flying fox often eat treesD. The damage caused by the bats is seriousDThe year 2114 will be an eventful one for art. In May of that year in Berlin, the philosopher-artist Jonathon Keats’ “century cameras” – cameras with a 100-year-long exposure (曝光)time –will be brought back from hiding places around the city to have their results developed and exhibited. Six months after that, the Future Library in Oslo, Norway, will open its doors for the first time, presenting 100 books printed on the wood of trees planted in the distant past of 2014.As Katie Paterson, the creator of the Future Library, puts it: “Future Library is an artwork for future generations.” These projects, more than a century in the making, are part of a new wave of “slow art” in tended to push viewers and participants to think beyond their own lifetimes. They aim to challenge today’s short-term thinking and the brief attention spans of modern consumers, forcing people into considering works more deliberately. In their way, too, they are fighting against modern culture –not just regarding money, but also the way in which artistic worth is measured by attention. In a similar fashion, every April on Slow Art Day, visitors are encouraged to stare at five works of art for 10 minutes at a time – a tough task for the average museum visitor, who typically spends less than 30 seconds on each piece of art.Like the Future Library, the century cameras are very much a project for cities, since it’s in cities that time runs fastest and the pace of life is fastest. “Since I started living in a city, I’ve somehow been quite disconnected,” Anne Beate Hovind, the Future Library project manager, who described how working on the library drew her back to the pace of life she knew when she was growing up on a farm in her youth, told The Atlantic magazine.32. According to the first paragraph, what will NOT happen in 2114 ?A. A camera which was produced 100 years ago will be exhibited.B. The Future Library will be open to the public for the first time.C. Photos with a 100-year exposure time will be developed and exhibited.D. Books printed on the wood of trees planted in 2014 will be displayed.33. What can we learn about today’s people’s attitude toward works of art?A. They consider works deliberately.B. They spend little time on works.C. They spend much money on works.D. They stare at works for 10 minutes at a time.34. What is the purpose of the wave of slow art?A. To advocate creating works of art slowly.B. To protect works of art from being damaged.C. To promote works of art for modern culture.D. To encourage people to consider works more deliberately.35. How would Anne Beate Hovind feel about the city life?A. It’s discouraging.B. It’s awful.C. It’s developed.D. It’s busy.第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

Just then the floor gave way under me and I crashed to the floor below with pieces of burning wood all around me.I saw a doorway in fire, then I put the bundle over my face and ran. My feet burned me terrible, but I got through. As I reached the cold air outside, my bundle of clothes gave a thin cry, I nearly dropped it in my surprise.
