而现在高一在读的学生，首先要确定是否要出国留学，这点对孩子学习的动力，方向非常重要!确立之后，建议家长与专业中介合作，明确申请要求，院校特色，孩子具体考试安排，确认专业，以免准备仓促影响孩子心态和最终申请结果。
选校VS选专业：
选校和选专业也是至关重要的，近年来，不少学校在本科招生时，对于不同的专业，也开始有不同的要求了，像整个加州系统的名校，对于SAT2的要求是非常细致的，不少以理工和商科见长的学校，申请相关专业时，对SAT分数有特殊要求，而传媒和少数文科专业，可能对语言成绩有特殊要求，因此，如果孩子真的有志于冲刺名校，那么专业留学机构的专业顾问指导是必不可少的，虽然留学中介大都收费不低，但是这些专业的指导，很可能影响孩子的一声，也会对家庭造成不少影响。
本科申请所需材料：
TOEFL托福成绩：基本上本科学校直接录取，托福80分是基础成绩，根据学校排名，要求的托福成绩会在此基础上递增。
SAT美国高考成绩：SAT考试是美国高中生入学考试，美国综合排名前60的学校、60名之后的部分学校需要，该考试是学术类型的考试，难度大于托福，目前国内仅香港可考。

PersonalStatement自我陈述：类似于学生自荐信，有些学校会有要求内容。
美国本科申请形式：
RD：Regularadmission(常规招生)
常规招生是标准的招生方式，它要求申请人在某个截止日期前(通常是每年的1月中旬)，将申请材料提交给所申请的学校。
过了截止日期后，学校的招生部门在一段时间内，审查所有的申请材料。
几个月后(通常是3月末或4月份)，申请人会接到学校是否录取的通知。
