1.作文题目: 2010.05.08Schools should concentrate on teaching students the academic subjects that will be useful for their future careers. Subjects such as music and sports are not useful. To what extent do you agree or disagree?2.考生原文I agree that children should study other subjects. Because, nowadays, every schools only teach children subjectswhich are beneficial to their future such as Maths, Chinese, and sicience. There are all important for children to improve their abilities, but they are not the whole. Sports and Music are also necessary very much.In our country, students have a heavy bag-Chinese texts. If they want to achieve a high grade, they should try their best to study English, Chinese and so on. At the same time, other subjects are not important what they think. So they will be weak easierand losta lot of great time. Studying in Sports class is a good process, During play basketball or football, you can be stronger and also meet many friends. They will make you feel not alone and be willing to face each trouble. And the music can make you relaxed and fellhappy. It’s also a beneficial method to change their minds. In my opinion, Chinese children need study other subjects. Whateversports and music is easy or difficult, theyall should study a lot because they can let them feel full and broadtheir eyes. As is known to us, education need use different useful meanschildren can use their extra time to study other subjects, it just spend a little time and will give them a huge advantage. In conclusion, studying other subjects is important for children’s future too. However, there is an opinion that charity organizations should help people of their own country instead of giving aid to whoever in need. From my perspective, the aid should be given to those in need regardless of their nationality.Natural disasters, war or social turmoil, all these factors may render people fall into poverty and diseases. The rise of charity organizations is associated with the emergence of these disasters. They relieve people from great sufferings and give people in need hope of survival. However, there is an opinion that aid from charities should only be given to people living in their countries while others think that charity should benefit all people. I tend to believe the latter is of more justification.Body 1: why we should give help to those in great needs? What is the responsibility of charity organizations? To help those in great needs is a reflection of moral obligation/duty for human beings.(意义)And this practice of helping others will have numerous/many positive effects involving/including promoting economic development and enhancing social harmony. (影响和作用)Meanwhile, the aid from charity organizations may cover a wide range of people and may be more transparent. However, there are some disadvantages of charity organizations. The money donated by charity organizations may be taken away by local officials and cannot reach those who are really in need. What’s more, charity organiz ations tend to give aid to those areas which are frequently reported by the media. This will cause regional imbalance or even regional conflict.Body 2: whether aid from charities should only be given to local people? As for those who advocate that aid for charity organization should be given to people living in their own country, I hold conservative attitude. There is no denying that it is more effective for charity organizations to give aid to local people. However, how to ensure fairness/equality among different peoples is the priority for charities. Fair distribution of resources and aid is an objective reflection of human virtues. (反证)If every individual or every organization just focus on their own interest, the world will become indifferent and unfriendly. In conclusion, charity organization should give aid to people who are in great need without considering their social background, their nationality and something irrelevant. However, the aid should be supervised and monitored by some independent organizations for fear of corruption or embezzlement. / However, the aid should be controlled or supervised by some dependent organizations so that it can reach the targeted people.(2010.1.14) TableIn today's world, it is private companies rather than governments who pay for and carry out most scientific research. Do you think the advantages outweigh disadvantages? (政府决策类)Background – theme –viewIn present society, there is an increasing tendency that private companies begin to take up numerous/ various social projects. In the past, most scientific research was carried out/ performed by the government. However, the government’s role is being replaced by private enterprises. From my perspective, /in my opinion / from my point of view, /as far as I am concerned, this trend has some merits despite some negative effects / despite some drawbacks.Body 1: advantages of private company’s conducting scientific research: it is a trend that a growing number of scientific research projects are being undertaken by private companies. Obviously, there are some advantages of this tendency. (1) high efficiency.(2) cost-saving. T he ultimate purpose/target of company’s activities is to obtain profits; therefore, they will do their utmost to reduce/lower cost of research. This practice will to some degree save resources. (3)competition will make the companies involved in technological innovation.Body 2: however, there is no denying that there remain some drawbacks concerning the private company’s involvement in scientific research solely. (1) Compared with the government’s activity, private companies cover less people. (2) Insuffici ent investment. So it is not enough to carry out large scale projects such as some space exploration programs.(2010.1.23)MapThe gap between the rich and the poor is becoming wider, the rich get richer, the poor even get poorer, what problems can the situation cause and give the solutions. (社会现象/Report)回答问题,理清思路:什么导致贫富差距?贫富差距的表现形式?贫富差距的影响是什么?什么是贫富差距?What? Why? How?What is the gap between the rich and the poor? Why there is the gap between the rich and the poor? How to deal with the gap between the rich and the poor?(从社会现象入手) In today’s society, it is not uncommon that some people live a luxurious life with splendid houses, private airplanes and yachts. However, a majority of people are living in slums and they may worry about their next meal. It is obvious that the gap between the rich and the poor is becoming wider. This phenomenon /this issue / this problem will cause / bring about / contribute to / give rise to some negative effects on both society and individuals, so some solutions should be found out immediately.Body 1:(1) social turmoil /damage social stability. (2) hinder the economic development. (3) this will cause a great fortune controlled by a handful of people, thus leading to the waste of resources. (4) unfair distribution of resources.Body 2:(1)widening income gap is largely associated with unfair education. Therefore, to narrow down the gap between the rich and poor, the government should first guarantee that people have equal access to education opportunities. (2) some new tax policies should be implemented. Specifically, more taxes should be levied against the wealthy people and these should be used in improving poor people’s living standard, building public facilities and infrastructure. (3) the government should provide people with more vacancies and job. In the meantime, more efforts should be made to reduce unemployment rate. (4) the government should provide adequate and cover-all social security. In conclusion, 贫富分化是当前很多国家面临的问题,这个问题会带来很多的社会负面影响,比如社会的动荡以及资源的浪费。

2010年雅思写作7.5分范文:欣赏阅读(5)Some people believe that students who want to go to university after graduation from high school should have about one year’s time to get a job to obtain work experience or have a travel to enlarge their vision.Do you agree or disagree? What is your opinion?High school students who intend to study at university should attend tertiary education after graduation. To spend one year’s time doing a job to acquire work experience or to travel for broadening one’s vision is, to my mind, a waste of time and energy.First, university education is the continuation of high school education for those students who want to pursue their learning at an advanced level. A break of one year from academic study will probably weaken one’s memory of what has been learned, especially for those who will study such theoretical subjects as mathematics, physics or chemistry.Besides, many nations have established one examination that all students must pass to qualify for admission to a university. For example, in China thereis a college entrance examination. Anyone who fails in the examination will be denied of admission into a university.Furthermore, one year’s work or travel does not help students much in their academic studies at university because it is unpredictable for one’s work experience to be integrated into one’s studies of specific subjects, to say nothing of traveling experience. Even if some subjects, such as MBA, require students to have work experience, one year’s work experience, however, is not sufficient to meet the requirements of three or five years, and one’s work experience should, after all, be related to management. To conclude, I would rather suggest that university’s curriculum allow the integration of academic study with practical training for the compensation for students’lack of work experience.(250 words)。

20100717The movement of people from agricultural areas to cities for work can cause serious problems in both places. What are the serious problems and how can these problems be solved? 20100710Some people think that younger people are not suitable for important positions in governments of countries.Others argue that younger people have new ideas in these positions. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages for that? 20100626People's attitude towards international travel turns to be more prejudiced instead of open-minded.Why&Solutions.International tourism is often seen as a factor that helps to unify world spirit and bridge cultural barriers, but quite often we hear of tourists being exposed to embarrassment, religious bigotry, national prejudice,or even racial violence.Fortunately people ranging from sociologists to tourists have been striving to reveal the reasons involved. This kind of unfavorable antagonism,of course, can be attributable primarily to the inherent cultural divergence. When people travel in order to be immersed in another culture, venture through exotic lands,or even just relax, they find themselves the embarrassing targets of locals due to some unconscious behaviors and misunderstanding arising out of the inevitable cultural differences.Another problem that often exacerbates the situation is economic, tourists are usually more affluent and want to be relaxed and entertained, which makes them seem arrogant to the natives. This works both ways, many so-called“boastfulboastful””tourists who find they to be involved in an unexpectedly uncomfortable situation, might regard the local hospitality industry not very hospitable as expected. There is no easy solution to this predicament, because it has nothing to do with policy or law,but rather is a problem of our basic human instincts, usually hyped up by the steroids ofcan’’t be nationalism. In group and out group psychology can simply turned off by the human mind;jealousy, hatred, and suspicion have been driven into us by evolution, nation, school, and family. It can only be overcome by tolerance and trust, the two human traits most lacking. The problem of prejudice against tourists is due mostly to perceived arrogance by both parties, which is usually caused by minor discrepancies in mannerisms and culture escalating, and is often compounded by economic imbalances between local and tourist. No policy can prevent this,it must be stopped at the most basic levels by promoting tolerance through education and a sense that we are all one people. (315w)20100619An increasing number of people change their career and place of residence several times during their lives. Is this a positive or negative development?20100605Students from poor background such as rural areas often find it difficult to access to university education,so people think universities should make it especially easy for them to study at.To what extent do you agree or disagree?Obtaining access to higher education has always been a hindrance to the poor and people in disadvantaged areas,so I firmly believe that efforts should be made to aid distancelearning initiatives. In order to break the cycle of poverty and increase the development of less developed regions for the grater good,it is of the utmost importance that nations, and society at large, strive to balance these inequalities.Numerous colleges, due to charitable or social reasons, have being allotting a higher percentage of admissions to minorities and students with a disadvantaged economic background that is higher than would normally gain entry. Potential candidates even in this case still need to meet thedon’’t basic educational standards of that institution, but they don have to meet the highest standards.Although this does displace some students that would have otherwise been admitted, those are not the most capable students anyway, and the benefits of a diverse student body outweigh the slight lowering of overall standards.Distance learning programs are also useful because they are low cost and reach a maximum number of people. The cost-benefit ratio to the economy and society as a whole is fantastic;it brings disenfranchised masses into the mainstream and provides progress to regions that are most atrisk of instability. If a society truly values all its members and seeks long-term growth and cohesion,it must spread the fruits of its labor.History has shown us that large socio-economic gaps quite often lead to further crisis, irreparable social stratification, and possibly even revolution. As this outcome is obviously not in the best interests of the state and the other members of the community, institutions of learning and the government should reach out to disadvantaged people in a bid to strengthen society overall.(295w)20100529Many young people nowadays leave schools with negative attitude towards learning. Why does this happen? What do you think could encourage young people to have a positive attitude?20100515The people study through distance-learning programs(I.E.the study material by post,by internet). However, courses can never be taken as good as those taken by attending in acollege or university in person.20100508Schools should teach children some academic subjects which will be beneficial to their future careers. Therefore, other subjects such as music and sports are not important. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?20100417Some people believe governments should act to change the way individuals live in order to live in a healthy lifestyle;others think people can choose the way they like.Discuss both and give your opinion.20100424It is suggested that everyone should have their own car, TV and fridge, please discuss this opinion does its disadv antage overweight advantage.20100417Some people believe that government should change the way to healthy lifestyle for people;while others believe that they can choose the way they like. What is your opinion? 20100410Some people think recent increases in cheap air travel bring benefits;other people think it has drawbacks to environmentand the recourses of the world. What is your opinion? 20100320More and more wok is done by machines.Do you think the positive effects of the development overweigh the negative effects on individual and society? 20100227Technological progress in the past century has its negative effect, despite its remarkable contribution. To what extent do you agree or disagree?20100220Most countries want to improve standard of living through economic development, however, others think social value is lost as a result.Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?20100206A:Air travel is only benefit for the richest persons. To what extend do you agree or disagree.G:More and more people prefer buying food ready to eat, instead of cooking it themselves.Discuss this development's advantages and disadvantages.20100130Many people believe that today there is a general increase inanti-social behavior and lack of respect for others. What might have caused this situation? How to improve it?Anti-social behavior is often seen as public behavior that lacks judgment and consideration for others and may cause them or their property damage. It may be intentional,as with vandalism or graffiti,or the result of negligence.Persistent anti-social behavior may be a manifestation of antisocial personality disorder. The counterpart of anti-social behavior is pro-social behavior, namely any behavior intended to help or benefit another person, group or society.20100123A:It is generally believed that not only the wealthy, but also the poor are equal members of our society. However, the gap between the rich and the poor are becoming larger and larger. 2010年专八作文范文

2010年专八作文范文

The important role of a city’s local conditions in the urban designRecently there is a hot debate on a report that a foreign design company invited by a little-known mountainous area in Guiyang provided a design without paying too much attention to the city’s unique characteristics. Some people appreciate the bold innov ation of the design but others do not like it. In my opinion, any urban design should take the city’s original cultural heritage into account. The designers should suit their design to local conditions and try to take advantage of the local resources.First, a city’s regional characteristics or local cultural heritage are its symbol, its identity. In a mountainous area, too many unconventional, super-futuristic buildings will not be compatible with the city’s landscapes. Without these landscapes, it is just another so called modern city composed of concrete and steel. Take Beijing for example. In the past few years, Beijing has been removing a large number of such alleys traditionally called hutong, in order to make it become a real international city. But without these hutongs can this city still be called Beijing, an ancient capital? The disappearance of hutongs means the disappearance of a period of history, a cordial lifestyle, and even the disappearance of Beijing itself. Then Beijing will lose its uniqueness.Second, it can help a city save a lot of money by suiting the design to local conditions and try to take advantage of the local resources. This is especially important to small cities, like this one in a mountainous area near Guiyang. We all know Guiyang is a developing city, not very rich. Unconventional, super-futuristic buildings mean large need of money input. Then more burdens may be added to this city, which will run counter to the city’s original purpose of developing itself. Instead, if connections between a city’s culture and the various urban sectors, including housing, infrastructure and governance, are well made, the maximum economic benefits will be achieved.Besides, the modernization should be a gradual process. More haste, less speed. Nonetheless, it should not be overlooked that the shortcomings of futuristic-style constructing outweigh its advantages brought. In conclusion, any urban design should take the city’s original cultural heritage into account. The designers should suit their design to local conditions and try to take advantage of the local resources. A scientific city design should be dependent on t he city’s regional characteristics, on a case-by-case basis.。

With the advent of smartphones and social media platforms, individuals can now communicate with anyone, anywhere, at any time. 2010年2月20日雅思A类写作议论 文及点评

2010年2月20日雅思A类写作议论文及点评真题回放:Nowadays, most countries improve the standard of living through economic development, but some social values are lost as a result. Do you think the advantages outweigh the disadvantages?

It is undeniable that rapid economic development would lead to some side effects including the loss of social values. However, these problems cannot cover the outstanding achievements. As far as I am concerned, advantages of economic development and its disadvantages will coexist for a long time.

In almost every nation of the world, economic progress is the basis. For instance, due to its powerful economy and the high living standard of the people , the citizens of United States could have high level of social welfare and they enjoy free medical care and free education. Even the poorest people in the States could get the social insurance, which ensures their impossibility to get starved. Take China as another example. During the years of social reform, the manufacturing industry has been improved a lot and the international trade in China was vigorous. Most multinational companies are investing in the country so that the citizens in China would have more opportunities to get a good job and their living standards would be higher.第三段:然而随着物质文明的发展,也产生了精神文明的缺失,这一点是不可忽视的。

However, the rapid pace of technological advancement also raises concerns regarding its potential consequences on our privacy, security, and well-being.One of the most significant advantages of technology is its ability to facilitate seamless communication and global connectivity. Social media platforms, instant messaging apps, and video conferencing tools have made it easier than ever to stay connected with friends, family, and colleagues across geographical boundaries. Through technology, we can share experiences, ideas, and perspectives in real-time, fostering a sense of community and inclusivity.Furthermore, technology has revolutionized theworkplace, leading to increased productivity and efficiency. With the advent of cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and automation, tasks can be completed faster and more accurately. This frees up valuable time and resources, allowing individuals to focus on more strategic andcreative endeavours. Moreover, technology has created new opportunities for flexible work arrangements, empowering employees to work remotely and achieve a better work-life balance. However, the widespread adoption of technology also presents certain challenges that require careful consideration. One of the primary concerns is the erosionof privacy. With the increasing amount of personal data collected and stored online, there is a growing risk ofdata breaches and identity theft. Social media companiesand other tech giants collect vast amounts of user information, which can be used for targeted advertising, surveillance, and other purposes. This raises ethical questions about the balance between convenience and theright to privacy.Another concern is the potential for technology to compromise our security. The increasing interconnectedness of devices and systems has created a fertile ground for cyberattacks. Hackers can exploit vulnerabilities in software and networks to gain access to sensitive information, disrupt critical infrastructure, or even spread malware. The rise of facial recognition and other surveillance technologies also raises concerns about the erosion of individual freedoms and the potential for abuse by authoritarian regimes.Furthermore, the excessive use of technology can have detrimental effects on our physical and mental well-being. Excessive screen time can lead to visual fatigue, insomnia, and other health problems. Social media addiction can contribute to anxiety, depression, and feelings of inadequacy. The constant barrage of notifications and stimuli can make it difficult to focus and maintain a sense of inner peace. Additionally, technology can promote a sedentary lifestyle, which can lead to weight gain and other health issues.中文回答:在当代世界,科技已成为我们日常生活不可或缺的一部分。

I tend to believe the latter is of more justification. Body 1: why we should give help to those in great needs? What is the responsibility of charity organizations? To help those in great needs is a reflection of moral obligation/duty for human beings.(意义) And this practice of helping others will have numerous/many positive effects involving/including promoting economic development and enhancing social harmony. (影响和作用)Meanwhile, the aid from charity organizations may cover a wide range of people and may be more transparent. However, there are some disadvantages of charity organizations. The money donated by charity organizations may be takenaway by local officials and cannot reach those who are really in need. What’s mor e, charity organizations tend to give aid to those areas which are frequently reported by the media. (1) high efficiency. (2) cost-saving. The ultimate purpose/target of company’s activities is to obtain profits; therefore, they will do their utmost to reduce/lower cost of research. This practice will to some degree save resources. (3)competition will make the companies involved in technological innovation.Body 2: however, there is no denying that there remain some drawbacks concerning the private company’s involvement in scientific research solely. (1) Compared with the government’s activity, private companies cover less people. (2) Insufficient investment. (4) unfair distribution of resources.Body 2:(1) widening income gap is largely associated with unfair education. In the meantime, more efforts shouldbe made to reduce unemployment rate. (4) the government should provide adequate and cover-all social security. In conclusion, 贫富分化是当前很多国家面临的问题,这个问题会带来很多的社会负面影响,比如社会的动荡以及资源的浪费。
