1.Introduction

According to the teaching and training program of SIAE, I have my blue-collarinternship at the Maintenance Base in Chengdu of Air China Technics during 4 weeks,

from July 6 th ,2015 to August 2 nd ,2015 .

In accordance with the arrangement of the enterprise, firstly I carried out a two weekinternship in the engine department, this period is mainly at the lead of manager ZhongZhi,manager Zhu and other technicians, and then spent the remaining two weeks internship inthe human resources department. APU products as one of the four main products go handin hand of the base with line maintenance and overhaul of aircraft and accessories repair,the engine department APU workshop is also an important part of the base, mainly incharge of APU decomposition, cleaning, repair and inspection, assembly, testing, factoryrelease.

2.Major job content

During the period, we observed and participated in a APU (Power Unit Auxiliary)’sentire process from the factory, the decomposition to the assembly, testing until the release.We wear gloves and masks cleaning parts; use a magnifying glass to carry out visualinspection; select and classify nut screws; personally involved in the testing of the speedsensor such a series of tests; observe the assembly balancing process, fluorescentinspection, inspection. During my internship, I also had the privilege of visiting a set ofCFM56-5C engine, to understand the main parts of the intergrated driven engine.

Disassembly is the first step in the maintenance of APU, disassemble the APU into separated unit in order following the instruction of job card,remove the rubber sleeve used for sealing on the tube, remove the folder, cover the port of some important parts, put then into boxes and then send them to clean workshop in order to avoiding the harm of cleaning liquid or corrosion.

Cleaning for 60min with airplane cleaning liquid of 65 degree and then placed in an oven drying, oven temperature is 71 degree, air drying then cover with plug toprotectthe surface, finally hung up a sign.

Inspection and detection

Probe detection is with the help of a probe pen of different diameter, the principle is that if the size of scratches is less than the diameter of the probe, the probe beads will not fall but move along the same plane smoothly; if the size of scratches is more than the diameter of the probe,the motion of probe is not in the same plane, we can have an obvious feel of halt.

The operation method of fluorescence detection is to penetrate the surface of the material with the fluorescent dye, and then use the fluorescent material to determine the location, size and direction of the crack.

For some of the parts that could be used, such as the nut screws, we need to check whether it has damage or not after cleaning and select useful nut screw then classify.The nuts which have clear indentation couldn’t be used, because they are not suitable for playing the torque any more.
